2008 Jayco Towable Trailer

Defect. Jayco Corporation (Jayco) is recalling all model year 2006-2014 Jayco, Starcraft, and Entegra towable travel, fifth wheel and camping trailers manufactured January 1, 2006, through April 30, 2013 and equipped with Fastec-brand door locks. It may be possible to remove the key from the lock in a way that potentially jams the deadbolt.

Risk. If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. A person inside the travel trailer at the time will then be locked in and be unable to exit the vehicle without using the emergency exit, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Jayco will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the cylinders, as needed, free of charge. The began on January 31, 2014. Owners may contact Jayco at 1-574-825-5861 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505.

THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL SINCE JANUARY 2014 FOR A RECALL OF A FASTEC LOCK FOR CERTAIN RV LOCKS. WE RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT OUR JAYCO IS AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL AND CALL WESCO FASTEC FOR A REPLACEMENT CYLINDER. WE HAVE BEEN CALLING MONTHLY TO GET OUR REPLACEMENT, AND ALWAYS PROMISED TO GET IT IN 7 TO 10 DAYS. BUT AS OF JULY 6TH 2015 CALL WE STATED WE HAVE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE LOCK AS PROMISED. AGAIN TODAYS CALL THEY PROMISED IT WOULD BE IN THE MAIL IN 7 TO 10 DAYS. WE HAVE OUR RV SITTING IN OUR YARD AND CANNOT USE IT UNTIL WE GET A REPLACEMENT LOCK. OUR RV DEALER HAS ALSO HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE GETTING REPLACEMENT LOCKS FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JAYCO TOWABLE TRAILER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V585000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A PART WOULD BE SENT OUT TO INITIATE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THE PART WOULD NOT BECOME AVAILABLE FOR 7 MONTHS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
