Defect. JAYCO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010- 2011 GREYHAWK CLASS C MOTOR HOMES MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 28, 2009, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 22, 2010 FOR AN IMPROPER ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AT THE BUSS BAR ON THE AFFECTED TRANSFER SWITCHES.

Risk. THIS COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING AND MELTING OF THE TRANSFER SWITCH, INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE, INJURY OR DEATH.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TRANSFER SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING NOVEMBER 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAYCO AT 1-800-283-8267.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JAYCO GRAYHAWK CLASS C RV. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V494000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE NEAREST AUTHORIZED DEALER TO THE CONTACT WAS OVER ONE HOUR AWAY. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO PAY A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY COULD NOT AGREE ON A PRICE TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT REIMBURSE THE CONTACT FOR THE REPAIRS IF HE WERE TO PAY A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8000.
