Backup camera is intermittent. This puts persons behind me in danger of accidental back-over. The vehicle has been reproduced and seen and confirmed by the dealer's Service Mgr. The vehicle has been turned in to the servicing Hyundai dealer on 4 occasions and they have failed each time to repair the issue. The system has been intermittent over for 5 repair attempts and a period of 5 months. It has been at an authorized Hyundai dealer for repairs for a total of over 60 days. There is no warning as to when this will occur other than the screen turns either green or blue when placed in reverse with the following: Check surrounding for your safety. No camera signal received. Please try again later."

On XXX, in Wildwood Florida, our Hyundai Tuscan was traveling approximately 25-30 mph southbound on [XXX], when a truck stopped short directly in front of us. The driver hit the brakes to slow the vehicle down. However, the car immediately came to an abrupt stop thrusting the driver and passenger forward, so much so that the passenger hit her head on the windshield as her body was violently thrown against the dashboard. Fearing a concussion the passenger thought a visit to the local Wildwood ER was necessary. Additionally the ER deemed it necessary that the passenger go to a specialized Trauma Emergency Delartment in Ocala, Florida. Consequently the passenger incurred several bills totaling approximately $20,000. Due to the incident occurring with in a car, medical insurance denied payment. It should be noted that this same type of incident happened a second time as well. Please note, the local Hyundai dealership manager was notified of both occurrences, and he was unfazed and made no comment in regards to this complaint. Vehicle: 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid | Purchase Date: 10/2025 | Mileage: ~2,800 | FAILURES: On 5/11/2026, the AEB warning light (FCA system) activated without cause while parked. On 5/13/2026, the left side instrument cluster went completely dark and was unresponsive. Multiple reboots failed to restore it. Infotainment (right side) rebooted; instrument cluster did not. Vehicle brought to Hyundai of Las Vegas on 5/15/2026. RECALL CONNECTION: This is consistent with Recall 26V047000 (Hyundai #293), issued 1/26/2026, for 2025 Tucson instrument panel failure violating FMVSS No. 101. My VIN is not in the database. I request VIN inclusion review as my experience is identical. The OTA/dealer software update was never applied prior to this failure. SAFETY RISK: Loss of instrument cluster eliminated ability to monitor speed, fuel, and warnings while driving. Unprompted AEB activation raises concern about FCA reliability — risks unexpected braking to cause potential crash or failure to engage. Consistent with FCA recall issued 5/16/2026 for my vehicle. DEALER: Hyundai of Las Vegas confirmed and repaired under warranty, described to me only as a hard reset. Diagnostic was not indicated on my report. Service advised me that recurrence is likely. Note: FCA recall issued 5/16/2026 was not addressed during this visit. Second appointment required. NHTSA: 26V047000 | Hyundai Recall: #293 | Case: 42767545

I was driving using adaptive cruise control, and my entire instrument cluster went blank. Everything, I couldn't see my speed, if cruise control was on, the HUD display everything went dark then came back on in about 10-15 seconds. This was very concerning. I had no way to know if the safety systems like adaptive cruise control, forward crash section etc were still working. Lost my GPS directions, couldn't tell my speed This was extremely dangerous. This needs to be fixed asap.

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unintendedly stopped. The vehicle suddenly experienced an automatic emergency braking failure. The vehicle was stuck in gear and was jerking while moving forward. While in drive, there was an abnormal popping sound coming from the vehicle. The battery discharge message was displayed and after several minutes the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer previously, but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer was contacted again, and the contact was informed about NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V316000 (Forward Collision Avoidance) and about a trade-in. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called another local dealer Feldman Hyundai of New Hudson Service & Parts Center (30492 Lyon Center Dr, New Hudson, MI 48165); where an appointment was scheduled for a later date. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a claim. The failure mileage was approximately 100.

The center infotainment display flickers then goes fully blank while driving, caused by a defective coaxial cable with undersized shield width (Hyundai TSB MC-11010978-0001). When the screen blanks, the backup camera also stops working, leaving no rear visibility when reversing. Audio and head-up display still function. The vehicle and component are available for inspection. Safety risk: the display and backup camera fail without warning during normal driving and while reversing, eliminating rear visibility and risking striking pedestrians, objects, or vehicles. Failures are triggered by heat, potholes, and braking—routine conditions—so the loss is unpredictable. The dealer reproduced and confirmed the problem, identified the TSB cable defect as root cause, and made multiple failed repairs: tightening clips, replacing the wiring harness, replacing the head unit, and performing the TSB repair. The identical symptom returned after the TSB fix. The vehicle has been inspected only by Hyundai's authorized dealer through these repeated visits—not by police, insurance, or a field engineer (field engineer involvement is being requested). No warning lamps or messages precede the failure. The first symptom is the screen flickering, immediately followed by the screen going blank and the backup camera failing. Symptoms first appeared at 10,717 miles on 07/23/25.

While vehicle was at dealership service department for an oil change, dealer performed FCA (Forward Camera Assist) Update recall. After leaving dealership, the vehicle displayed several warnings. "Check Emergency Stopping function", "Smart Cruise Control disabled", and "Forward Safety system limited". This never happened previously, and these safety systems became disabled within two miles after leaving the dealership where the update / recall to them was performed. The recall was intended to prevent unnecessary emergency braking. Somehow the update resulted in completely disabling that safety system. Invoice from dealership shows 17012 miles out, and photos of dashboard show 17014 miles. Return appointment for them to look at this is three weeks out. Contacted Hyundai customer service to report this.

Navigation screen flickers and goes black and then reboots and comes back on while driving. Extremely distracting and dangerous. Dealer kept car for ten days and replaced the screen but problem persists. Happens almost every time I drive. Might be triggered by uneven road surface but difficult to tell. Much online chatter about the issue. Dealer acted like they’d never heard of it before.

I was going northbound on highway 77 in Bloomington, MN, switching lanes to get on an exit ramp to westbound 494. Another vehicle in front of me was also changing lanes but I had slowed down so we can switch lanes appropriately as we were both going at decent speeds and as I was braking and this car ahead of me crossed lanes, my forward collision warning activated and emergency braking occurred which inappropriately activated and caused me to abruptly stop while driving on an exit ramp on a freeway. Luckily the car behind me did not hit me but it was terrifying and scary and I had my two young children in the car. I have set up plans for updating the software for this vehicle with the current recall.

The rearview camera system on my vehicle intermittently and unpredictably malfunctions when shifted into reverse. Instead of displaying the live rear camera feed, the infotainment screen abruptly turns entirely green or blue, completely obscuring the rearward view. Component that failed: The rearview camera system and/or the main infotainment display module. The components are currently on the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: This failure severely compromises safety by eliminating critical rear visibility while backing up. The sudden loss of the camera feed creates a significant blind spot, increasing the risk of backing into a pedestrian, a moving object, or another vehicle, especially in busy parking lots or residential driveways. Dealer confirmation: Yes, this is a persistent defect that has been reproduced, confirmed, and documented by an authorized dealership service center during multiple service visits. Despite the dealer and the manufacturer being informed of this defect over two months ago, neither has been able to successfully repair the vehicle or provide a permanent fix. Inspected by others: The vehicle and the malfunctioning components have been inspected by the manufacturer’s authorized dealer technicians during multiple attempts to diagnose and repair the ongoing issue. Warning lamps/symptoms: There are no warning lamps, check engine lights, or error messages on the dashboard prior to or during the failure. The sole symptom is the

This is an ongoing issue. The panel lights and indicators associated with climate control setting module (in front of/below) the dash are very dim. In normal to bright daylight it can be impossible to see. As a result drivers have to take their eyes off the road and bend down a little to see what the climate control lettings are set on or whether a selection has been set properly. This has obvious potential safety issues. Hyundai tell customers the modules are performing normally, but there are many, many complaints on the web. These modules need to be recalled and replaced.

On 4/3/2026 heading to [XXX] on I 95 (outside of [XXX] ) traveling with traffic (3-4 lanes) I was in the middle lane going approx 74mph when on 5 separate but in close approximation (estimated within 20 mi) times, my car which was on cruise control, suddenly threw up warnings to pull over, shook my steering wheel, yanked my car toward the left lane (with traffic flowing the same way as I was) and suddenly decreased my speed to 64 mph before I could regain control! It was a beautiful, sunny day with no precipitation. Cars were swerving and beeping . My family was in the car. I stopped all cruise control and drove the remaining five hours to my destination scared out of my mind. On [XXX], my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid displayed a red dashboard alert instructing me to “stop vehicle and check brake system.” The vehicle experienced brake system warnings and a loss of power steering, requiring me to pull over. I immediately contacted Hyundai through the Bluelink system, and the Bluelink operator confirmed that multiple fault codes were visible in Hyundai’s system. I scheduled a Hyundai service appointment at the next available date. On [XXX], before the scheduled service appointment could occur, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total electrical failure while traveling at highway speed (approximately 65 mph). The vehicle lost propulsion and displayed brake system warnings. After reaching the shoulder, the vehicle also lost hazard lights while disabled in heavy rain. The vehicle was towed via Hyundai Bluelink to a Hyundai dealership and removed from service. The occupants at the time of the incident included my wife and my minor child. The loss of propulsion, braking warnings, power steering, and hazard lights created a serious risk of a rear-end collision and injury. Due to repeated and escalating safety-related failures involving electrical, braking, and steering systems, I no longer consider the vehicle safe to operate. Upon shutdown an restart two warning lights were display but Vehicle would still not move. Vehicle only had 168 miles on the odometer. Vehicle is a Hybrid, engine was running and Battery charged. Apparently the problem was a failed "Over the Air Software Update", this was corrected by Dealer (see attached file). Safety issue is that the Vehicle, 1 Failed to display any error regarding a Failed Update, 2 Failed to immobilize the Vehicle allowing to move in an unsafe state, 3 Failed to notify Owner that Updates had been done, 4 Proceeded with an over thew air Update that could potentially place the Vehicle in an unsafe state.

The forward collision system suddenly slammed the brakes hard to a full stop. This has happened multiple times in situations where there was no real danger(still safe distance with the car in front). I was fully in control, and there were no obstacles or sudden movements from other vehicles. Both times there was a car right behind me, and I was just lucky they didn’t hit me because they swerved into the shoulder. After the first 2 times, I mentioned it to the dealership and asked if there was any way to turn down the sensitivity so it didn't cause an accident and he said it's either all or nothing (which also isn't safe in case of real emergency). He recommended I file a complaint. I should also mention that I owned the 2022 Hyundai Tucson prior to this car for 4 years and never once had this occur. I did have it activate the front collision warning, but it never came to a full stop and allowed the driver to make the correct decision for the situation.

The Forward Attention Monitor (or Driver Attention Monitor/Warning...or something similarly named) that monitors the driver's eyes to insure he/she is looking forward at all times) is overly sensitive and shuts off the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping systems. While it does this, there is a beeping, and a text display on the dash that requires reading, it is probably a sentence long, further distracting the driver from looking at the road....This potentially would cause a following vehicle, or a vehicle in an adjacent lane to make a defensive maneuver, or to have to brake abruptly, as one example...basically NOT SAFE) Adjusting the steering column to a safe driving position for me (the eye sensor is located on top of the steering column) also caused this system to turn off the cruise control and lane keeping systems constantly, causing me to have to raise it to an uncomfortable driving position. Also, related to this, the HVAC controls have very dim indicator lights to let the the driver know the fan speed or status of the A/C, making it very hard for the driver to see it and make quick changes before the STUPID eye sensor (Forward Attention Monitor or Driver Attention Monitor) cuts off the other safety features. My new Hyundai Tucson has less than 5K miles on it and while driving on a fairly empty road the panoramic sunroof exploded for no reason (as we know nothing hit it). Fortunately the screen was closed at the time, but had it been open then glass shards could have entered the car. I often have my grandchildren in car seats with the screen open and this could have caused serious eye damage to them. Hyundai and other manufacturers know this is a common problem but refuse to do anything about it. The local dealer will not cover the repair even though the car is under warranty. When the roof explodes it sounds like a gunshot and we swerved, but fortunately no cars were near us at the time. I can see where this can easily cause accidents.

Cannot use any driver assistance features while wearing sunglasses (even the lightest lens). I have macular degenation and this affects my future vision. I either can't wear sunglasses (which my eye doctor says are a MUST) or cannot use cruise control or driver assistance features with them. This was not disclosed prior to car purchase and Hyundai claims it is to guard against drivers falling asleep. Unlikely in daylight and if cruise control and distance WAS being used and someone fell asleep it would slow the car down rather than crashing into something full speed. This flaw DOES affect my safety and that have eye issues. Everyone should wear sunglasses during the day to protect their eyes. Please have Hyundai rectify this!

It lacerated my head and really hurt. I had to get 5 staples to close the wound. This is a very concerning safety hazard. As an adult it was painful and required medical attention. I have had two incidents with this vehicle (that I have owned for less than 90 days) that have raised safety concerns. Both involved the loss of all information on the "instrument panel" AKA dashboard. In the first (August 18, 2025), all of the warning lights came on, then the screen went dark - there was no information on the two screens and no head's up display. This happened while I was on the highway doing about 65 mph. After I was able to pull over safely, it took several attempts to get the vehicle started again and in gear. I took it to the dealer the next day and they were unable to replicate the issue and saw no codes. The second episode occurred yesterday (9/6/25). This time the screen went dark except for a large red warning "NO SIGNAL". The screen came back after a few moments; I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Both of these involved losing all information as to the speed of the vehicle - which I believe is a safety issue. Both of these issues have also been reported by others on Facebook ("Hyundai Owners") since late last year and it appears to be some sort of electrical issue but there has been no TSB or recall by Hyundai yet.

Forward Collision Avoidance › Adaptive Cruise Control

The computerized "Safety" features on this car can not be turned off. They pose a hazard in a number of ways from when the car is stopped to driving on multi-lane highways. For instance, the adaptive cruise control is linked to an over the air network. If that link is "cut" by going through the mountains, cruise control suddenly quits; this has happened while passing a vehicle over a mountain pass. When attempting to pull out from a parking spot, another driver stopped to wait for me because they wanted my parking spot. My car stopped by itself, sounded a loud noise, steering wheel shook, my wife screamed at the noise, and I had to shift out of reverse and shift back into it and attempt to leave the parking spot. When driving in the mountains on curvy mountain roads, my eyes shift around a great deal to keep on top of the road and traffic conditions. This sets off the "its time to take a coffee break" announcement with accompanying dinging. This continues every few minutes until I am out of the mountains - it is distracting at the least. If the adaptive cruise has slowed the car down because of slower traffic ahead, and after a car passes in the outer lane, you pull into that lane to pass the slower car; but when you do, my car accelerates quickly to bring the speed up to the speed set on the cruise control. If the car that just passed is too close, this acceleration sends us hurling toward the other car. I would like the ability to turn these "safety" features OFF. But that

The Hyundai Tucson's "Consider taking a break" advisory is triggered by the Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system. This warning happens so frequently that it is more than an annoyance, but a safety issue, because the driver must continually take their eyes off the road to examine what the vehicle is complaining about, and therefore could conceivably be the cause of a crash. Dealer is aware of issue. See attached technical service bulletin. The problem is easily reproducible.

On long road trip from TX to MA Started before dawn and route initially [XXX] . With sunrise route was into sun and so I used my sun glasses. Within a few minutes a warning gong and light on instrument panel litup. I did not know what the cause was and then unannounced the Adaptive cruise control lane holding and steering shut off and the vehicle seemed to brake quite vigorously. There were a few cars behind me and due to my vehicle suddenly slowing down they had to brake unexpectedly. They then honked at me and passed quite aggressively and gesturing their displeasure with me. I called hyundai tech support they where of no help. I asked for a manager - who called back and I was told it is because I used my sun glasses! I was told it would always happen if sunglasses where used and I could not cancel this feature without disabiling the "safety" features that i considered when purchasing the vehicle on 24th [XXX]. I was told I should not use polarized glasses which my pair Is Not in any event. I requested to speak to a more senior rep and the next day received call from a hyundai rep who stated there was nothing I could to over come this nuisance feature and if I didnt like it I should not have bought the car. I stated I did not know this could or would happen ! In addition every 5 to 10 minutes a warning gong, light and speech notice keeps on popping up and states "I need a rest". In my opinion too, It is also a safety issue as it is a nuisance and consistant and at inopportun

When driving slowly on the highway and changing lanes the car sensed that we were too close to the car in front of us and completely stopped the vehicle. We were not all that close to the car in front of us and we were nearly hit by the car behind us as we stopped. We are concerned that this could happen any time. The car should never stop on its own.

My car stopped due to the emergency braking system when a car slowed down in front of me. There was no danger of me hitting them, we were in a turning lane proceeding slowly through a green light. My car stopped and wouldn't start moving again for more time than the person behind me would have expected. This isn't the first time, but it's my first time reporting it. I'm worried that I'm going to be hit by another car at some point.

Forward Collision Avoidance › Automatic Emergency Braking

This is a very real safety concern. On multiple occasions, the automatic emergency braking (Forward Collision Avoidance Assist) feature of my 2025 Tucson Hybrid was activated in a completely unnecessary situation, endangering myself and drivers following behind me. If a car in front of me brakes suddenly, or a car merges quickly into my lane, which happens ALL the time as everyone has experienced, my car takes it upon itself to fully SLAM on the brakes without warning. Each time, it was in a situation where I could have easily slowed the car down incrementally so as to not put drivers behind me at risk of rear-ending my car. This feature can be temporarily disabled in settings, but it AUTOMATICALLY reactivates when the car is turned off then back on. This is a crash waiting to happen and it is unsafe to drive in its current state unless the feature is turned off manually every single time I start up my car. At the very least, there must be a PERMANENT way to turn of FCA.

I have raised issues with Hyundai with the first week of driving this Tucson Hybrid. I have ask repeatedly to get the collision control turned off, The dealership said they could not turn it off with permission form Hyundai. Hyundai so called customer service escalated it now several times and not a single call back. I was assigned a specialist named Lejo ,National Consumer Affairs, Hyundai Motor America 714-627-9707. Because he is no longer able to help he told me it was escalated and got yet to this day to hear back from anyone. This vehicle has tried to kill us several times and the dealership and Hyundai have been made aware of what it has done. Slamming on the breaks and warning collision, pulling you almost in the ditch because it was raining? This has happen several times. The same thing when a cars turns the corner and is leaving the main road and as i move to the passing lane the car said warning and actually pulled us back behind the car we were passing and then hit the brakes and almost rear ended to car we were trying to avoid. This system can be manually be turned off by me but comes on each time the vehicle is started again. I am only asking that Hyundai permanently shut it off for the duration of my lease. Because of the safety issues with this 2025 Tucson Hybrid I feel it necessary to inform the public and HHTSA. If Hyundai does not turn it off then they need to be prepared to buy back the lease, Hyundai is well aware of the problems as they have issued a TSB

Instrument display and head up display go off and on at random times. Occasionally both are off at the same time so I can not see how fast I am going or use the video feed when signalling to turn. At times, all warning lights are on and do not go off so I am unable to tell if there is a problem with the vehicle.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
