Part 573 reports
Seat Belts › Rear/Other › Buckle Assembly26V169000
Filed Mar 19, 202646,787 vehiclesHyundai Motor America

Defect. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2026 Hyundai Palisade and 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid vehicles equipped with "Limited" and "Calligraphy" trim packages. The internal wiring within the third-row driver-side seat belt buckle may become damaged and result in a permanent display of a belted third-row driver-side seat on the instrument panel.

Risk. A faulty seat belt status indicator may fail to alert occupants to an unfastened seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will install a wiring harness extension and replace the seat belt assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning May 8, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 297. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov March 21, 2026.

Seats › Mid/Rear Assembly › Power Adjust26V160000
Filed Mar 17, 202661,307 vehiclesHyundai Motor America

Defect. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2026 Palisade and 2026 Palisade Hybrid vehicles equipped with a Limited or Calligraphy trim package. The second and third row power seats may fail to detect a person. The seat may continue to move after contacting a person during powered seat functions, such as one-touch tilt-and-slide or automatic power fold-and-stow.

Risk. A person, especially a child, may become trapped by a rear powered seat, increasing the risk of injury or death.

Remedy. Owners are advised to exercise caution when operating the second and third row power seat functions until the repair is performed. Children are advised to not be in the rear seats or near the rear seating area during power-folding operation. The seat controller and the audio, visual, navigation software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 296. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 19, 2026.

Electrical System › Instrument Cluster/Panel26V047000
Filed Jan 26, 202641,651 vehiclesHyundai Motor America

Defect. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Tucson Hybrid, Tucson Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV), 2026 IONIQ 5, Santa Cruz, Kona, Palisade, Palisade Hybrid, Santa Fe, Santa Fe Hybrid, Sonata, Sonata Hybrid, and Tucson vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Risk. An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. The instrument panel display software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 24, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai's customer service at 855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 293. Forward Collision Avoidance › Adaptive Cruise Control
Filed Jun 30, 2026NY

I was on the highway and I hit the Cruise Control to engage “smart adaptive cruise control.” I received a warning light that said “Conditions for smart cruise control not met.” The car immediately began to decelerate. I could see that the light for the cruise control was still on. I hit the cruise control button again to turn it off- and it kept giving the same warning again and again (noted above). Meanwhile, the car was beginning to decelerate rapidly. I went from 65mph to 35mph in a matter of seconds while on the highway. I immediately put on my hazards and made my way to the shoulder where I stopped the car, restarted it, and was able to resume driving normally without incidence. I am not using cruise control anymore until this is resolved.

Electrical System
Filed Jun 28, 2026OH

While driving my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid, the vehicle has repeatedly applied the brakes suddenly and without warning, especially approaching a specific overpass on my normal route and is fully repeatable. This only happens in the curb lane; the middle and passing lanes are fine. There is no forward collision warning, no detected obstacle, and no driver input when this happens. The braking is abrupt enough to feel unsafe and could cause a rear‑end collision. In addition to the phantom braking, the infotainment screen frequently reboots or goes completely blank while driving (blank 1 time). This causes loss of navigation, audio controls, and vehicle settings. The screen failure happens randomly and has occurred during normal driving. See video link here: [XXX] I reported the screen issue to my local Hyundai dealer (Crestmont Hyundai, Brunswick, OH), but they refused to document the complaint and told me to “wait for a recall.” They would not record the incident or investigate the problem. Both issues continue to occur and pose a safety risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
