2024 Honda Prologue complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2024 record →
The right side bumper has separated from the hinges, and I feel that this might be related to the previous 2024 Honda Prologue recall about the right control arm. I just want to make sure that it is reported as it looks like a manufacturing fault. My car only has 1500 miles on it.
Vehicle charge will drop signficatinally when parked for over night. Car was charged to 100 % then dropped to 92% overnight. Car only gets 50-60% of mileage stated from the dash and app. Car has 3997 miles on it, yet as has charge history shows it has been charged enough throughout history to have 8,100 miles.
Vehicle makes clicking noises when making sharp turns at low speed. Replacement of left front axle done at 3,833 miles by dealership service department on 5/22/25. Clicking was reported again on 6/15/25 but was unable to replicate in noisy surroundings. Dealership advisor stated there is no solution to repair the problem and this would keep happening. Noise worsened and vehicle was taken to a different dealer on 7/21/25. The service advisor stated that they were "unable to determine cause at this time. Concern is under investigation." Advisor claimed this "may possibly be a normal characteristic."
Forward collision warning system activated Automatic Emergency Braking system and brought car to an immediate stop. This has happened multiple times for no reason. Sometimes it will activate on a street with no other vehicles, today it almost got me rear-ended in traffic.
Car makes loud clicking noise while making turns. Steering doesn’t come back to center after making sharper turns. Suspect bad CV joint, common when searching online for this problem.
Frequently engages erroneously due to heavy rain or pavement markings. Last week when it was raining heavily, AEB engaged at least 10 times while I tried to back out of my garage (there was nothing/nobody in my driveway). And this past Friday it engaged 3 times on different colorings for patched pavement cracks in a parking lot while backing out of a parking spot.
Multiple warnings: AWD temporarily unavailable, service stabilitrak, reduced acceleration drive with care. Not braking completely when speeding
Hears creaking sound when turning in low speed. Only 1000 miles on the vehicle. The charging door indicator won’t go off. Keep popping up during driving, blocking the meter screen.
When I bought this car, when I turn it makes clicking noises and clunks when put into drive. Dealer said it was a safety feature, but after investigation its the CV joints on the car.
I cannot reverse with my car slamming on the brakes and it thinks I'm going to hit something when no one is behind
Knocking noise when making a right or left noise. Noise seems to slowly get louder.
The vehicle emits a loud clicking or popping noise from the front axle/CV joints when turning from a complete stop, despite having very low mileage. It has already been serviced twice and is currently in service for the same issue. A failing CV axle is essential to steering and can pose significant safety risks, especially at higher speeds.
At almost 20,000 miles my car shut itself off while I was still driving. I was slowing down to a stop but my car was not functioning properly, could not turn my car off, put in park or turn of parking break. I had to sit in the middle of the street for at least a minute until I was able to shut off my car and restart it again. I drove straight to the Honda dealership. Waiting on diagnostic results. Also, I have always had a problem reversing out of a parking space when it rains. The emergency sensor reads an object behind me and automatically breaks even though I am the only car in the parking lot. It takes me minutes to back out enough to turn my car.
Clicking nose from axles when making hard left or right turns. Took to dealer and it took 2 visits to repair. Driver’s door window leaks when it rains or I go thru a car wash. My left shoulder gets dripped on. My car now has 7,500 miles. Both of these issues were present from day 1.
See attached document for complaint.
I purchased a brand-new car from Freeway Honda (1505 Auto Mall Dr, Santa Ana, CA 92705) in December 2024. Since then, I’ve been experiencing an issue where the car makes clicking noises when turning the steering wheel left or right. It appears to be related to the axles, and this is not normal for a new vehicle. This situation is becoming extremely frustrating, as I bought this car for comfort and peace of mind—not to feel unsafe or uncomfortable while driving.
1. Infotainment system completely shuts off at random moments and not form of reset will bring them to work again. 2. Forward Collision Warning: Will sound at times even if there is absolutely nothing ahead of you. 3. Lane departure is not always “available at this time”.
Persistence issues with warning indicators appearing and charging capabilities on vehicle being reduced from 80% to 27% or 25%, which is approximately 67 miles total, and charging capacity cannot be increased either on the app of the vehicle or directly through the vehicle. Warning indicators displayed include "Service Vehicle Soon" and "Service High Voltage System". Four light indicators appear, one yellow turtle symbol, two red battery looking symbols, and a red car symbol. Incident has occurred a total of 5 times within approximately a 50-day period. Dealership where vehicle was leased has attempted to fix the issue four times without any success, issue has now appeared a total of 5 times.
Well i bought this Brand New car from HONDA PLANET in NJ UNION 2024 August have been have this issues with axles making clicking noises also when Stopping Suddenly in Reverse this is not normal have been taken to the dealership since i bought this car and its getting crazy for me for my comfort because i bought this car for my comfort use not to be feeling uncomfortable and not safe driving this car
While driving my 2024 Honda Prologue, the automatic emergency braking system (part of Honda's Collision Mitigation Braking System) has activated unexpectedly and forcefully multiple times — with no obstacle or vehicle ahead. The most serious incident occurred on 6/28/2024, while traveling at approximately 70 mph. The vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes without warning or any visible threat in the road. We did not crash, but the vehicle behind us narrowly avoided rear-ending us. This also happens about 50% of the time we reverse the vehicle. Given the potential severity of this defect — especially involving passenger injuries and potential crashes — I am deeply concerned. Many other Honda owners have reported similar phantom braking behavior across multiple models, and I believe this defect needs to be investigated urgently by NHTSA. Honda has not issued a recall or provided public guidance on how to disable or address the system, leaving drivers at risk.
Leased vehicle 8/31/24, HondaLink app crashed within 45 minutes of leaving the dealership. Spent the next 3.5 months on the phone and emailing regularly with Honda for assistance, updates, or a solution, usually with limited response and no resolution. We were told by Honda to not drive the car until the issue was resolved, but they wouldn’t take it in to a shop or anything. The issue was resolved 12/13/2024 and it finally worked - and just crashed again. Unfortunately critical updates are sent through the app, so this puts us at risk if an update is available and inaccessible to us due to the app issue. The car also randomly changes settings such as lights, window locks, door locks settings, CarPlay won’t work, wireless CarPlay does not work, drops phones completely off, slams on the brakes while backing up, and recently started slamming on the brakes going forward with no hazards in sight (reported separately). These issues cause it to be unsafe to drive this vehicle.
Vehicle Make: Honda Model: Prologue Year: 2024 VIN: [XXX] Description of the issue: I own a 2024 Honda Prologue (VIN [XXX] ) with approximately 7,500 miles. I began noticing a clacking or clicking sound when turning the steering wheel fully left or right. There is also visible grease on the inside of the front wheels, indicating a possible failure in the axle system. I took the vehicle to Honda White Plains, where I was informed that the front axles must be replaced. The issue is reportedly covered under warranty, but the dealership is waiting for Honda’s approval to proceed with the replacement. I am filing this report because I am concerned about potential safety implications related to steering or suspension, and to document this issue in case other owners are experiencing similar failures. While driving my 2024 Honda Prologue, the automatic emergency braking system (part of Honda's Collision Mitigation Braking System) has activated unexpectedly and forcefully multiple times — with no obstacle or vehicle ahead. The most serious incident occurred on [insert date], while traveling at approximately [insert speed] mph. The vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes without warning or any visible threat in the road. The sudden stop caused whiplash injuries to my wife and two children, who were passengers in the vehicle. We did not crash, but the vehicle behind us narrowly avoided rear-ending us. I have attempted to get the vehicle serviced, but the nearest dealership told me there is a wait time of over a month, so no diagnostic has yet been performed.
I got in my car and received the following error messages immediately upon turning on the car: - Brake System Failure 43 MPH Max Speed - Brake Assist Failure. Press hard to brake. Speed limited. - Service Stabilitrak - Auto Hold Unavailable Driving the car was very unsafe as the brakes were extremely difficult to engage, taking my full body force to fully depress the pedal and have the brakes slowly engage. I have taken the car to my Honda Dealership, which (at this time) has been unable to replicate the issue or find a problem. This is a safety issue to have unresolved, as the brakes suddenly becoming extremely difficult to work makes the car unsafe to drive.
Honda dealership replaced left front and right front axels for clinking noise less than two months ago but same issue. When you push acceleration pedal, it makes clinking noise. Honda service manager told me that they are replacing with same part number. They are not really fixing the problem but just put temporary bandage on the car. Please have honda manufacture to recall on front axels with updated part. Thank you
Honda Prologue 2024 AWD with 2300 miles driven. The display indicates "Service Safety Restraint System" The dealer tells me the code is for the driver side curtain airbag which the repair is not under warranty. Seems like cv joint issue. Every turn you make with the prologue there is a clicking sound. It happens on a left and right turn and sounds like clicking or tapping noise.
When backing up randomly puts emergency brake on. In return you get whiplash. The car will then not move forward or back have to shut it off. It takes about 3 times for it to work again. The wipes with rain sensing on come on when hardly any rain but pouring and never turn on. The ev does not hold a charge for highway. Trip was 154 I had 280 on charge dies at 145.
Car makes loud clicking noise while making turns. Steering doesn’t come back after making steep turns. Car dealership says they have no remedy to repair the problem.
Vehicle drive shaft making a clicking sound at the CV joint when making a left hand turn. Problem started at 10,000 miles.
Service high voltage error keeps coming on. Have had it serviced by the dealer multiple times. Seems to be a common error with all Honda prologues but Honda has yet to address the problem.
When I, Turn, The Wells Makes, a loud noise the other day appear in the dash brake pedal unavailable and also the air conditioning turns on and off by self
When I apply my indicator in one direction and begin my turn, the indicator automatically turns off at a certain point. Immediately afterwards, the OPPOSITE indicator automatically flashes about three times. This happens about half of the time I’m making a basic 90 degree turn. It has happened regularly since I purchased the car in December of last year. It is a safety issue since the people behind me think I am making a quick left after making a right or vice versa. It seems to be an issue with GM models, and this is a GM build.
Knocking sound in the front when turning Honda states normal axel problem. For Fuel/battery . Been in a back and forth with Honda service/Honda motors because I’m getting less then advertised on my range performance. Example I drove a 60 mile drive and car drained 109z that’s 49 miles unaccounted for. I am now being told by Honda Motors mediation that the battery loses 30/40 percent efficiency in cold weather. That’s horrible. It’s not advertised and it’s unacceptable. It’s unsafe that customers can’t depend on the vehicle when an emergency happens.
Turn signal switch actuator. When engaging in a right turn with the signal on, the turn signal switch will attempt to auto-reset into position where it will regularly engage the left-turn signal 3-blink indication for a lane change. The issue does not occur with every singly turn, but with enough regularity for it to be a very common occurrence on every drive the vehicle takes. On our most recent drive, of approximately 4 miles, the issue occurred 3 times, which was 75% of the right turns made on that trip. Brought the vehicle in for testing and fixes, and was given a loaner vehicle of the same model. Loaner vehicle shares the same exact problem when making right turns. This is a safety issue that should demand a recall, as it is an important safety system to alert other drivers on the road of your intentions. When finishing a right turn and the left signal engages on its own, it can trigger other people to believe you are making a new turn and may confuse them with your intentions on driving, or can occasionally trigger other people to think we are making a left turn when we are not intending to turn at all and they may pull out into the street, and there is no way to cancel the blinks as they are happening. Upon further research, this is a very widespread issue affecting potentially hundreds of thousands of people. When bringing it in for service, it's frequently regarded as a "car quirk" or a characteristic but that is unacceptable as this is a serious safety issue with th
Clicking noise when turning left. Suspect CV joint as it is a common issue.
Clicking sound from behind both front wheels when max (or near max) turning. Most apparent from stop and slow acceleration when turning
Driving in the express lanes south of Atlanta in the rain, the vehicle's Automatic Emergency Braking system activated for no reason. There were no other vehicles around, and we were on a straightaway. It was such an abrupt deceleration that if another vehicle had been tailgating me, they probably would have run into me.
Cv drive shaft worn out left and right my car mileage is only 3000 the dealership already fix the issue but I'm in doubt it will worn out again.
During my experience with the 2024 Honda Prologue, I have encountered several significant issues related to the vehicle's starter system. Notably, while reversing, the car intermittently engages the brakes as if it detects an obstacle behind it. Additionally, while driving, the vehicle occasionally applies the brakes unexpectedly, presuming that a collision is imminent. Furthermore, I observed a rapid decline in battery power, accompanied by error messages on the dashboard indicating "Service Soon" and "Service High Voltage System.” After consulting with a service center, I was informed that no issues were detected with the vehicle. However, I am presently receiving persistent error notifications stating "Service High Voltage System" and "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care." In addition, the air conditioning system has ceased to function, and I have been unable to charge the vehicle effectively. Each attempt to charge concludes with the message indicating that charging is complete, yet the battery remains at a static level of 91%. These issues present serious concerns regarding vehicle safety. The unpredictability of the braking system could potentially lead to an accident, while a sudden failure of the battery during travel could leave me stranded, endangering myself and others. These examples represent just a portion of the various complications I have experienced, highlighting a significant safety risk associated with this vehicle.
HONDALINK app does not operate as intended, restricting access to vehicle door unlock, safety warnings/alerts or tire safety information or roadside assistance during incidents.
When I put the car in reverse the automatic emergency braking system engages multiple times. Though there are on abstracts on the path. I have to constantly keep pressing the parking brake multiple times in order to get out of my driveway in the morning and afternoon. This is a constant occurrence weather there it is raining or not raining.
When I was taking my Prologue in reverse and will slam on the brakes even when there is nothing behind me. It happens frequently nothing behind me. As others have reported here and elsewhere online, my Prologue emergency braking/collision detection system repeatedly activates when there is no danger of a collision. Backing out of my driveway I can expect that 40% of the time the car will slam on the brakes for no reason and apply the parking brake, which I then have to disengage manually to continue backing out.
During a storm when backing up out of parking spot the prologue did an emergency breaking procedure , engaging the parking break. (There was no one behind me or anything in the way) and left me stuck in the middle of the street until I could figure out what happened. I had to manually release the parking brake and as I did that, I then almost ran into someone that was trying to go around me while I was a full stop. Since this happened randomly, I was not fully sure what was going on . This creates a huge safety hazard when there is no reason for it. There are many reports of this in forums that say just turn it to warning only mode, which then removes a safety feature that 1, was paid for and 2 could actually prevent a accident
Crawling in traffic at low speed 5-10 miles per hour when the auto emergency brake initiated a complete hard stop for no reason. I was not in danger of hitting the car in front of me. Car braked so hard that I thought I had hit something.
Driving very slowly with plenty of distance from me and the car in front of me, car's auto emergency braked HARD. Thought this was a one off but this happened it my other Prologue this week (we own 2) so I decided to report. Scary event that makes you think you hit something and could potentially cause whiplash
While driving to work both digital screens turned off, I have no data, no speedometer, nothing. I pulled over and turned off the car and it did not reset nor come back on.
Automatic braking is very sensitive, especially in the rain, and even more so when backing up in the rain. The unexpected braking happened to me at a rotary for no apparent reason, and numerous times in reverse. Service Vehicle Soon Light/(Propulsion System Failure) came on randomly at around 4000 miles. Within a day or so it turned off. Nothing with the car seemed to be effected. Then around 4500 symbol turned on again and has been on for a day or so. No notable issues.

What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
