While driving and vehicle is in motion, vehicle loses all power, all electrical components turn off and vehicle shuts off. To reiterate, this is not the idle stop power down, this is the entire vehicle shutting off. Last time I was driving at 45 MPH when all power lost. Taking vehicle to dealership for pending recalls this week. No warning lights, no messages on display, just seemingly a random loss of power.

As we were driving we started experiencing some slight stalling and eventually started hearing a pitter patter noise as we accelerated. At one point while on the freeway we stalled out and had to pull over almost causing an accident for the person behind us to hit us. This has more recently come up again as we were driving on the road and almost caused another accident. We did take it to two different Honda Dealers and both confirmed that it has to do with the current fuel pump recall. No warnings.

I was driving on the highway and I heard this loud noise above my head. After the loud sound happened, I wasn’t sure what had happened. While still driving it sounded like the sunroof came open by itself, so I slid the summer roof cover back and the sunroof was shattered. There wasn’t another vehicle driving close to me. Honda asked me to take to a Honda dealer repair shop to get it inspected. I was told they could inspect it but there is no way they can tell if it was defected or not because the glass is already shattered. This is not good. I could have had my cover open, and possibly all cut up from the shattered sunroof.

My vehicle is equipped with a feature that turns it off at brakes stops and restarts when the gas is pushed (example - at a stop sign). Honda did a recall and replaced a part but this feature on my vehicle still stalls and doesn’t start instantaneously with the gas, causing a noticeable delay when I’m trying to go from a stoplight. Hondas remedy has been a button to turn this off - bit it must be turned off every single time the car is started and I’m afraid for my teenagers to take my 2019 Pilot because they may not remember the to do this. Honda at one point did turn this feature off on my vehicle but when I got a new battery put in, the computer reset and it is now active again. They informed me they now do not have the ability to turn off this feature due to a government legality over fuel efficiency so I feel very frustrated and disappointed.

I have a 2019 Honda Pilot (VIN [XXX] ), little over 70,000 miles on it. In early December 2023, I started having problems with screening flashing in cycles every warning and failure message for the vehicle. I get a cylinder 4 misfire on my person code reader. Honda Metro in Indian Trail NC tells me this is fuel injectors, they are on national backorder with no guaranteed delivery AND it will cost me over $1200 to fix there. I asked if it was warrantied or recalled and was told no. Researching I found that the 2014-2018 fuel injectors were recalled. Also, found the 2014 -2020 were same injectors so not sure why the 2019 - 2020 are not covered by same recall. However, this service bulletin does not apply to my VIN.

The auto start stop feature in my car appears very weak. I believe the dealer replaced the battery once early on and then I have had to replace the battery at my own expense again. Now, after a new battery, it is still appearing weak. I believe this feature is draining the batteries and causing a safety issue as my car seems to be delayed or struggles when trying to start back up. The auto start stop also was not working properly when I purchased the vehicle and was “fixed” right after I purchased the car.

The transmission warninig displays comes on, and the speed dropped. We limped to the nearest Hondas dealer in Carson , CA. The MIL comes on with DTCs P0441 (EVAP System Purge Flow Malfunction) P04F1 (EVAP System Low Purge Flow. Detected). I replaced the purge flow valve and joint purge valve which resolved the issue. The reason I am writing is, the coding within the 2019 Pilot also threw an AWD System Problem MIL, but did not have a specific code associated via the OBD reader. It is a false reading that can cause more work to be done to the car than necessary. Once both purge valves were replaced, there are no MIL's present.

Between gears 4 to 5 and 5 to 4 the transmission can jerk suddenly, and cause a "clapping" noise from the transmission. As a consumer, I would not expect this to be customary for a new car (it has happened since we bought the car new in Dec 2018). The dealership could not identify an issue with no MIL or thrown code. It is concerning for the life of the transmission given the aggressive shift between these gears.

In October 23, 2023, The Honda Pilot Touring 2019 activated the alarm system alone. When I attempted to stop the alarm the unit did not stop and start blinking. It displayed the codes keyless start system problems and auto engine idle system problem. The unit drained the battery. It was replaced by a new one and it showed the problem again in October 24, 2023. The unit turned ON alone the alarm, control panel motor fans and I was unable to turned Off the unit. The only way to turned Off the unit was disconnecting from batery. On October 24, 2023, the car was sent to the Honda dealer and the diagnostic was problem with the control module part 38320TG7A91. As of today I still waiting for repair due to part backorder. Neither the part is available in Honda part supplier in US. Why? It has been a part recall from supplier? Did Honda knows already of this part problem? I want to issue a safety complaint because the Honda Pilot turned On alone due to these problems (codes) described above while I was out of home. This must be investigated since the unit did not turned OFf unless battery is disconnected. In addition I have been waiting since October for repair while the unit is in a parking lot. Experiencing Judder/hesitation when car reaches a speed where it has to shift from first to second gear and from second to third gear. Sometimes it feels more like a jerk. Issue mostly occurs after the car has warmed up, so after around 3-4 miles of driving the car. Second issue was RPM fluctuation when car is at steady acceleration. Judder issue first occurred back in June 2022 when the car has ~63000 miles. It started with a sudden jerk, felt like someone hit the car from behind, this happens when the car is trying to shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. Issue was very intermittent at that time and restart of car would make it go away. But issue will come back every few weeks. Issue increased around ~68,762 miles, so took the car to my local auto repair shop on 8/31/2023. The shop performed maintenance listed below – •Transmission Flush / Fluid ATF DW-1 / Transmission service •Oil Change •Differential Front and Back Service/Flush •Cooling system Flush and new anti-freeze •Fuel Injection Service Issue was still ongoing, so decided to take the car to Honda Authorized service center on 9/27/23, they were able to duplicate the Judder experience and performed snapshot and diagnosed car and advised vehicle needs torque converter. Backup camera malfunctioning. Display on infotainment screen shows vibrant colors, impairing visibility, only when in reverse and using the backup camera. All other screen displays are working normally. The vibrant coloring and overall visibility fluctuates pending how bright the sunlight is and how hard it is raining. I just went to my local Honda dealership (Price in Camden, DE) today to have the cable recall taken care of and confirmed the backup camera coloring is NOT a cable issue, but likely a camera issue. This is indeed a safety issue and I have seen across many online forums that others with 2019 Honda models report the same problem, with the cable recall not providing a solution.

I said all I did was press the button to open it. it opened and made a crunchy noise when I pressed the button again to close it. there were no warnings , symptoms of this problem prior to it coming off of the track. my car was 6 months out of warranty. the cost of the repair was $4000, Honda customer service was contacted and they agree to pay 40% of the cost , so the repair cost me 1475.39. ive heard from other Pilot owners of this occurring . 3 of the other owners had this repair done FREE, out of warranty.... Its not like its something I caused.. I just pressed a button and failure.

2019 Honda Pilot EX-L with 52K current miles. Very jerky and rough transmission gear shifts from 1st to 2nd especially noticible on the upshift. It shakes the whole car to the point driver and passengers are startled. It does not happen all the time, but when it does occur, the car must be pulled over, the engine turned off and restarted to make the problem go away, which might indicate that it is a programming/electronic issue. If the car is not restarted, the problem persists. Started noticing this problem around the 37K miles, but got worse and more often to the point at 38K the car was taken to a Honda dealer to address the problem. The dealer suggested a transmission fluid replacement, and it was done at my cost. The problem has now returned at 52K current miles. It took two restarts to stop the jerking this time. The transmission fluid was checked upon return to my home and it is still good, red in color, not black. This is a serious and reoccurring problem which needs to be addressed as soon as possible. If the transmission breaks down during driving, it might cause a crash and resulting injuries. Thank you.

Auto Idle function stopped the engine while waiting to make a left hand turn on a busy street. When trying to make the left hand turn the engine was unable to restart resulting in engine warning lights as well as battery warning lights and a complete shutdown of the car and all systems. Warning lights only appeared when I took my foot off the break and pushed the gas pedal to reengage the engine and move. This left the vehicles lifeless and stranded in the middle of the street for a few minutes before I was able to restart the car after a few failed attempts to do so. This left me stranded in the middle of a busy multi lane street in San Diego with cars having to go around me back into traffic to get by. I have had other instances of stopping at lights where the auto idle stop function engaged and my entertainment system / radio / navigation system shut down until i turned off the car and restarted it completely later. The other instances did not have a failure to restart the engine. Honda has told me there is no current recall for the auto idle function and that I had a software update for this last visit prior to this latest incident occurring. Automatic start/stop does not consistently work - Honda dealership looked into months ago (January of 2023) and adjusted the battery power (or something to that affect), recommended new battery and it worked great again... 8 months out, the auto start/stop has started having issues again (August 2023). They said it looked like an issue with my battery power consumption, which they adjusted. The safety issue is the same - car is at complete stop, remove foot from brake to begin accelerating and engine dies and is unable to restart (battery light flashing and/or states that car must be in park, brake depressed, then press power ON - but this doesn't work). Sometimes it struggles to turn over (start engine), other times it won't start at all for a few tries. There is no warning this will occur until the car just dies. This has happened at traffic lights and in heavy stop/go traffic - in both situations we were almost rear-ended AND caused traffic issues with those behind us needing to veer around the immobile vehicle.

When my car is at a stop, the engine idles and will not restart. Sometimes, charging the battery will upstart the engine, while sometimes it will not start at all. We've had the battery checked several times, and the battery checks out fine. The car has an electric shift, and I can't place it into neutral to push the car tot he side. So, we wait in the midst of a heavily trafficked intersection until a tow truck comes. This has happened several times in heavy traffic and once in our driveway. After yesterday's incident, I asked my friend who has the same car to see if she has similar issues. She said YES! After bringing the car to the dealer numerous times, she turns off the idle engine everytime she drives, and she hasn't had the issue. I also researched on Google, and this seems to be a recurring problem for Honda cars with the same engine. This needs to be remedied as a global recall. My car is at the Firestone waiting for tomorrow to come, so I can call Honda dealership to remedy this problem. It won't start, even with a charge. We had the battery checked in July, 2023 when it last happened, and the battery is fine. This defect is a safety hazzard for its owners and passengers.

My 2019 Honda Pilot Touring (7 passenger) has a defect with the auto stop-start system that is a major (and scary!) safety concern. On a handful of occasions over the past couple of years, when stopped at a traffic light (and the auto stop-start feature engages) the engine will fair to restart. My wife has complained that this happened to her several times, and finally this week I was in the car to witness it for myself. The car went from drive to neutral ON ITS OWN, instruments began flashing, the "i" indicator came on, and we couldn't get the car back into drive. We had to turn the car all the way off and back on in order to get it back into drive. I took a picture of the dash and will upload it here. I've read online that this might be caused by a cold battery; however, this incident occurred on a warm September day in the southeastern US. Also, we've had the battery on this car replaced a couple of times (a whole other issue that puzzles me). This is scary and dangerous in the middle of a busy intersection! In fact, my wife now refuses to drive the car, so we've switched cars for the time being. We were going to give this car to our daughter in a few years when she can drive, but that's definitely not happening now....way too dangerous! I'm at a loss for what the next steps are and would really appreciate some guidance. I'm taking the car back to the dealership tomorrow for diagnostics, but in the past they've suggested they can't replicate it so it's not a problem. Ugh.

Our 2019 Pilot has experienced intermittent stalling at lights since 2019 and the incidents have occurred more frequently in the past few months (multiple times per week). It has been taken exclusively to the dealer since purchased and for years, they said they were unable to duplicate it. Last service was 08/2023 and Sheehy Honda of Alexandria, VA stated that they duplicated it and fixed it (by resetting codes). Six days later, the stalling began again. I believe it's related to the Auto Idle Stop function. Yes, it's available for inspection. This puts us and others at risk when the car suddenly stalls and stops at a busy intersection with people lined up behind us, not expecting to have to brake. It requires putting vehicle in park, turning it off and restarting engine. It has not been inspected by anyone except the Honda dealer. Warning lights come on when this happens, as it's dying....collision mitigation, battery, and this has been told to the dealer. I recently read online that turning off "Auto Idle Stop" helps and this seems to be true.
