I called two dealerships to get my recall repaired, Mile High Honda and Planet Honda, and neither of these certified Honda dealers can help me fix my recall. I am worried about my safety as I drive this vehicle. Honda is currently out of fuel pumps to fix this situation, leading to uncertainty and fear while operating my vehicle.

Backup camera is suddenly distorted with green and pink colors covering the actual image. The image changes each time, but is often very hard or impossible to safely view what is behind vehicle while backing up. Vehicle is garage kept, no sun or water damage possible. This significantly increases the risk of a crash while backing up. Because the image is so distorted, it often looks like there is an object present, causing driver to swerve even though there is not really anything there. Many other 2019 Passport owners are reporting the same thing in online forums. Honda insists this is a malfunctioning camera, but will not accept it as a manufacturing defect.

Rear camera is malfunctioning. The view is blurry and frequently distorts to a green saturation removing visibility to the rear of the vehicle. This is a major safety hazard as the visibility is unpredictable and is obstructs the critical view behind the vehicle. Previously there was no issue. The issue only started occurring after a recall replacement was performed in December ‘23 for a similar issue. Previous recall info: RECALL 23-047 FAKRA CABLE INSPECTION Cause: FAKRA CONNECTORS UPDATE Correction: FAKRA CONNECTORS UPDATE OP CODE # 0101T0 1.70 - The replacement from recall or camera is faulty and needs replacement. Honda is stating they will not take action without a diagnosis which they are stating will cost $200 to the consumer. Please help protect the consumer here as it appears Honda is well aware of the issue persisting beyond the previous recall and purposefully not taking action.

Warning system failure… all lights lit and systems did not work.car was drivable but with no safety mitigation systems. Happened suddenly while driving on hwy. displayed the following warnings: Transmission System Problem Blind Spot Info System Problem Power Steering System Problem Emissions System Problem Vehicle Stability Assist Problem Hill Start Assist Problem Traffic Stability Assist Problem Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Rear tailgate did latch not working The D for drive was blinking These safety systems put my driving at risk as I rely on them for safe driving, lane change ..etc Brought to dealer for second time and they insist I leave the vehicle on so they can check the error codes. Even had ready made sign “ do not turn vehicle off” for dashboard. Seems like significant problem and I’m not the only one. Evidenced by chatter on Honda web forums. My question is, why do all system failure lights activate? Why can’t they determine the failure after car is turned off. Isn’t that the purpose of fail codes? Why do all safety functions fail when one issue arises. Evidence points to a software bug that effects all these functions (yes including the rear latch) Dealer recommends replace the ABS module but is not sure. Last time they replaced the speed sensor. Seems they are unsure. Needs software fix !

When engaging the accelerator after auto-stop the entire vehicle stalled. Nothing was displayed on the dash or media console, the vehicle cut off, no steering, and no acceleration. When attempting to restart the vehicle it failed multiple attempts until about 45-60 seconds later. Thankfully this occurred at a redlight, but it was a single lane and other drivers behind me were not pleased. This has happened twice now.

My vehicle is currently subject to recall 23V-858. I never received a recall letter. I am currently an active duty service member attempting to have my vehicle shipped to Hawaii in conjunction with a PCS. The government will not ship my vehicle until Honda provides me with a letter confirming that there is currently no fix for 23V-858. Can you please help me get something from them ? I have already contacted several local dealerships as well as their corporate office and no one will help me. Thanks !

I contacted my local Honda dealership on May 20, 2024 and was told that there are no parts available to address and correct this recall (NHTSA Recall Number: 23V-858), and that American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has stated that there would be no parts available "until late this year." This is a safety issue that, should failure occur during vehicle operation and/or in motion, would render the vehicle instantly inoperative. American Honda Motor Co., Inc. should immediately expedite the manufacture, shipment, and replacement of these potentially defective fuel pump modules to address this risk to vehicle operators.

The vehicle does not restart after entering 'Auto Idle Stop' even with latest software update by Honda. About 2 month ago, my car started to act weird and stopped restarting during traffic stops, causing dangerous situations. (I was waiting in the intersection to make left turn and the vehicle was stopped in the middle) I went to Honda dealership for repair, and they explained that its known issue and can be solved by software update. They promised that it won't happen again, but starting few days ago, it is doing it again. I went to the dealership again, and they are now saying that they have to replace the starter. I don't think it is a safe approach to let customer "test" the software and replace problematic part depending on the test outcome. I feel like Honda should update the software AND replace starter.

My Honda Passport will trigger false forward collision alarms randomly, and for no reason. No obstructions are visible most of the time recently! As the BRAKE warning appears, the steering wheel vibrates and a quick braking jabs causing panic as if the brakes are fully engaged then it releases. This happens for no apparent reason. It is VERY distracting and if the brakes do apply very quickly, serious injury and damage can occur. This has happened multiple multiple 10+ times. Now until recently l was usually in a construction zone near a 🚧 barrier or orange hivis barrel by or passing over thick lane markings on the pavement. So l assumed system was over sensitive but never during those incidents was my vehicle was directly in front (head-on) nor did l veer into the direction barrel/barrier.

Started my vehicle and drove about a mile before my brake system lights came on. They were sporadically coming on , but now it's a continuous issue. I would like to know is there some kind of recall on vehicles that are experiencing issues with the ACC, COLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM, BRAKE SYSTEM, LKAS, AUTO HIGH BEAM, and ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION lights staying on . I only have 28,000 miles on my 2019 Passport Elite. So it's no longer un warranty. I see that a number of people on the Honda Forums are experiencing the same issues. As a loyal Honda owner, I must say I've had more issues and recalls with this one. Too many for an almost $50,000 vehicle.

Forward Collision Avoidance › Automatic Emergency Braking
Filed Mar 15, 2024FL

The Automatic Emergency Braking system has gone off multiple times on my 2019 Honda Passport since purchasing it in February 2021. Only a few of those times was necessary, the rest have either been an annoyance or have created more of a hazard when driving. This was especially true when the braking system dramatically reduced the speed of the Honda passport while traveling on an interstate highway, passing a truck while additional vehicles were traveling at the same speed behind me. I lost full control of the car for a minute and which only exacerbated the situation. I’m very fortunate a crash did not occur in that moment. I have never had this component looked at, but have only had the car serviced at Honda dealerships and have had the camera re calibrated a few times now. There were no warning signs, a giant “BRAKES” flashes on the dash once the system has been triggered into action, but there’s no way I’m aware to stop it once it’s been triggered, there’s only the option to turn the entire system off ahead of it being triggered. This issue has been happening as long as I can remember, but is generally bad on high traffic multi lane roads and single lane roads where traffic is consistent from the other direction.

I have had 4 instances of driving on the highway that my vehicle applied the brakes automatically. My safety was put at risk because in those instances I was driving at highway speeds and the brakes were applied on their own with no obstruction in front of me. Someone could have rear ended me. I am not able to reproduce the problem on command, but it has occurred multiple times. The car has not been inspected for this issue. The only warning I received was the alert that gets triggered when the brakes apply automatically. I do recall that in 3 of the 4 times the incident has occurred, my right turn signal was applied.

The monocular camera, part 36160-TGS-A13 failed. This camera drives the vast majority of safety features on the Honda Passport. Those affected features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance, Parking Collision Warning, Automatic High Beam Control, and more. This vehicle has not been in a collision or subjected to any reason that would disable the camera. This camera, and apparently a significant number of others of this same model number appear to simply be defective. American Honda (and the dealers) indicate that the part is backordered with no ETA for restock, yet OEM part suppliers have the part readily available for one day delivery at $600. A quick search of the internet reveals this part failure is common, and the dealer response of backorder with no ETA seems to be a standard response. The one dealer I dealt with indicated they are personally handling 2 such cases at this exact moment. Given the more than 1,000 Honda Dealerships in the country, this indicates that it is more than possible that over 2,000 newer model Honda vehicles are driving on the roads throughout the country with the vast majority of their safety features disabled. DTC Code provided by the dealer is U3000-49. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by Norm Reeves Honda Dealer at their Huntington Beach California location. Honda dealership told me to go somewhere else and have them install aftermarket camber adjustable kit? Totally unacceptable. If can’t fix this problem then my tires will wear out prematurely again. On two occasions this summer, after coming to a complete stop at an intersection, the car initially failed to restart (with the stop-start feature in use). On both occasions I was able to restart it within 30 seconds. Other than temporarily inconveniencing the drivers behind me, so far this has not yet caused a bigger problem. I have not yet tried to have a dealer or independent service center reproduce or confirm the problem. The vehicle was unable to restart after the auto idle stop engaged at a stoplight, shutting the engine off. Upon release of the brake, the engine did not restart and the car was left stranded for several hours in the middle of a large intersection putting the driver at risk. The car was unable to be restarted and stranded for over two hours until police were able to clear a safe path and have the car towed to the nearest service center. There were no warning indicators or service lights prior to this occurrence. The authorized Honda service center found that the battery was drained and the auto idle stop had engaged while the car battery was low, leaving the car stranded and unable to be restarted.

Since I purchased this car in 2020, I have regularly experienced my car stalling out because of the auto idle function. The car shuts off when I brake and then does not turn back on, leaving me stranded in traffic until I can manually shut off my car and turn it back on. This is a major safety hazard that Honda has yet to properly address. Honda had a recall to "fix" this, which was just a software update. This was conducted 5/12/2023 on my car. Unfortunately, today (5/20/2023) my car stalled out again at a traffic light due to the auto idle function. Honda needs to address this issue, and if they cannot, then they need to provide those with defective models a path to upgrade their car.

Since purchasing the vehicle I had issues with jerking of the transmission in 4th or 5th gear around 30-35mph. It most commonly occurred on hills or with slower acceleration like traffic. It's a commonly reported issue with all these models using the ZF 9 speed transmission. I was traveling up a hill one day and an engine light came on and car refused to start. The transmission had seized and teeth shattered inside. I was 5,000 miles out of warranty, so had to pay the $7,700 out of pocket to fix. I was working at Honda, so I know the issues with the transmission have been reported (part of the reason the latest full model change is going to the 10 speed Honda transmission).

This has been happening from the beginning of ownership. There was a recent recall but it DID NOT fix the problem. I come to a stop, and then start to go and my car stalls out for a second and then restart. Every time I took it in to the service center, they said they can't recreate it and there's nothing wrong. As it stalls, the "collision mitigation system" warning light comes on. I have almost been rear-ended many times and it's really scary. Several times, the car shuts off at stop lights or stop signs. It has a feature that is supposed to save gas and put it into low power mode. But sometimes, especially if I take my foot off the break and press on the gas too quickly, the car completely shuts off and goes into neutral. This is VERY dangerous. Once I was on a hill when this happened and the car began rolling down and I nearly hit another vehicle. I have seen hundreds of other such complaints on the Honda Pilot. This is it's cousin, the Honda Passport and likely has the same power failure. Honda needs to recall these immediately before someone gets hurt. (It may also be related to the distance calculator being incorrect on my car. It often says I have over 1,000 miles left on my single tank.) There is for sure something wrong.

The auto stop/start feature has on multiple occasions failed to restart once the foot is taken off of the brake. The Passport's engine will stall, and the vehicle goes into neutral. The engine is completely dead and will not immediately restart. This has happened multiple times in traffic and is a safety concern. I have had the Passport looked at by a Honda Dealership. They advise that there are no error codes and advised me to replace the battery, but could not guarantee that a new battery would eliminate the issue. I am concerned about my family driving this vehicle due to this issue.

I have had the car for three years and its never been in a collusion. Within the past two months the forward radar sensor failed which cost 1500 to replace. This part makes it so all cruise control and auto lane change functionality break. In addition a month later the gas lid broke and emissions were getting into the fuel tank. Again not major incident but I did observe that the gas tank top is very flimsy and moves a lot of when refueling. This cost me another 763 dollars. Both these issues cause major safety issues and should not be occurring on a three year old vehicle.
