Filed Jun 27, 20191,558 vehiclesHonda (american Honda Motor Co.)

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2013 Acura ILX, 2015 RDX, 2005-2010 and 2012 RL, 2009-2014 TL, 2010 and 2012 ZDX, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2011-2013 and 2015 CR-Z, 2009-2013 Fit, 2013 Fit EV, 2010-2011 and 2013 Insight and 2007-2014 Ridgeline vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with driver frontal air bag inflators assembled as a recall remedy part or replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began August 12, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are S5B and W59.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Honda CR-V, 2011-2015 CR-Z, 2010-2014 FCX, and Insight, 2009-2013 Fit, 2013-2014 Fit EV, 2007-2014 Ridgeline, 2013-2016 Acura ILX, 2013-2014 Acura ILX Hybrid, 2007-2016 RDX, 2005-2012 Acura RL, 2009-2014 Acura TL, and 2010-2013 Acura ZDX vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.

Risk. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are JY0, JY1, and JY2.

The airbag light started coming on somewhere (approx) around 100K miles. I noticed that MANY hondas had takata airbags and were recalled. My airbag is also sourced from takata and I'm concerned for my safety and wondered if my car was overlooked because CR-Z models had very low volume of production. I wanted to check. I cannot financially replace this as the cost exceeds the value of the car, but it runs great and I need it for commuting. PLEASE double-check as my hunch is that my car was overlooked when assessing the takata air bag disaster. Thank you for your time and consideration.

In 2010 to 2016 Honda CR-Zs the exterior door handles will fail without any symptoms. Leaving the driver unable to unlatch the door without being inside. The problem has not been addressed by Honda, but many owners have reported it being a common problem. The door handle latch tends to break under hot or cold environments and under light to heavy stress when attempting to open the door

BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2016 I HAD AN ACCIDENT, WHICH I BELIEVE WAS CAUSED BY A MALFUNCTION IN THE CAR. RIGHT BEFORE LOOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT FLASHED RAPIDLY ON THE DASH CAUSING MY CAR TO JOLT AND LOOSE TRACTION. I HAD SPUN AND HIT HEAD ON TO THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. A FEW MORE FEET TO THE LEFT AND I WOULD'VE FLEW OFF THE MOUNTAIN. I THEN HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY READ ALL THE CODES ON MY CAR TO SEE IF IT REALLY WAS A CAR MALFUNCTION. THE 2 CODES THAT BROUGHT CONCERN TO ME WHERE THE ( 61-1 BATTERY VOLTAGE LOW & 25-1 YAW RATE SENSOR MALFUNCTION) BUT HONDA WAS UNSURE IF THESE CODES WHERE CAUSED BY THE ACCIDENT, BUT I KNEW IT WAS WHAT HAD CAUSED MY ACCIDENT. JUST AS A REMINDER I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW FOR THE VERY REASON BEING I WANTED TO KNOW IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF I DIDN'T WANT A USED CAR WITH PROBLEMS. SO MY CAR ENDED UP BEING FIXED BY MY INSURANCE AND IT TOOK A TOTAL OF 3 MONTHS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK! BECAUSE HONDA WAS WAITING ON A WIRE HARNESS TO BE DELIVERED. THEN ONCE I GET MY CAR BACK IN FEBRUARY OF 2017 IT RUNS SMOOTHLY AS IF IT WAS A BRAND NEW CAR I WAS SO EXCITED TO FINALLY HAVE MY CAR BACK! LITTLE TO KNOW THAT 2 MONTHS LATER AT THE END OF MARCH BEGINNING OF APRIL I WOULD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT DOESN'T JUST FLASH RAPIDLY AND MAKE MY CARS FRONT TIRES SKID AND MY CAR JOLT WHILE I'M DRIVING BUT ALSO WHEN I START FROM A COMPLETE STOP. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT I ONLY HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHILE

JUST BOUGHT A HONDA CRV-TOURING, VIBRATIONS HAVE STARTED AROUND 600 MILES, WHEN IN A STOPED POSITION, IN DRIVE, AFTER IT HAS HEATED UP, BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE WE NEEDED A SMOOTH RIDE (WHICH SEEMED AT FIRST DRIVE), VIBRATIONS AGGRAVATE MY SPASTICITY, AND CAN CAUSE SEIZURES IN SOME PEOPLE. DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS FROM ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION,, AND IT COMES UP THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
