2019 Honda CR-V complaints

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU THAT HONDA CRV ARE BEING TARGETED FOR THE RADAR. MY RADAR HAS BEEN STOLEN 2X AND HONDA NEEDS TO BE NOTIFIED. THE RADAR ARE IN FRONT OF THE CARS AND IT IS EASY TO BE STOLEN. IT IS NOT FAIR FOR PERSON TO PURCHASE A VEHICLE AND PARTS ARE BEING STOLEN. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE TO MAKE SURE THIS DOES NOT KEEP HAPPENING TO ME OR ANYONE ELSE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

Automatic Emergency Braking came on unexpectedly with no obstacles nearby. Was traveling at 35 mph with no cars around. Car decelerated sharply, throwing our dog against back of front seat. Then AEB disengaged with no further incident so far. This was earlier today.

Ever since the fuel pump was replaced by the recall, the car has had a delayed start. Recently the car started but when pit in drive the car stalls. The car does not reliably run, and can stall at any moment.. We have been informed by the dealership that it is now the fuel pump motor that has failed. Seems to me that this is part of the same problem.

Visibility obstructed. Dealer says he has seem at least 200 Honda with same problem.

While driving down the interstate at 70 miles an hour, the sunroof exploded. It sounded like a bomb. Glass went everywhere. I was nowhere near a tree and nothing fell on my car. The weather was beautiful that day and had been all week. Unless something fell from outer space, there is no way anything external caused it. It was absolutely random, terrifying, and expensive to fix. It rained the next morning and water got all into my electrical wiring which has now created a new set of problems. Problems that should all be Honda's responsibility for a clearly defective sunroof.

When the fuel injectors go bad or out in the 2019 CRV, the check engine light should just come on. Instead the CRV 2019 CRV all lights come on dashboard disabling all safety systems in the car and makes those safety systems unusable when it should just be alerting you of an engine issue. This could cause accidents with a vehicle, rather than the engine just shutting down. Honda has known about it not fixing not only fuel injector they need to be fixing the electric problem that goes along disabling the safety features. They also need to get fuel injector parts in stock. Also, the fuel injector cause further damage to other parts of the vehicle. It damages spark plugs, oil. Honda should been recalling this issue awhile. We take good care of our vehicle and have up kept this vehicle. This one needs to be fixed properly fixing just the injector not enough they have to fix the issue of the safety features where doesn’t disable the whole car along with new injectors.

Possible faulty Body Control Module. Will not recognize either set of keys after the car has been off for a few hours. (The red light on both keys stops working. Both are somewhat new batteries.) To unlock the door, I need to use the physical key. When I hold the keyfob up to the push start, the car will turn on. Sometimes the car will start but will say something about the key not being detected in the car 50% of the time, the car will recognize KEY 1 as KEY 2 and show Key 2 driver's cluster settings. If you do not know about the physical key inside the keyfob or know about putting the keyfob next to the push start button, you will be left stranded. Other reports from a Honda enthusiast website have very similar problems with even the battery being drained overnight.

I bought a Honda CR-V 2019 with 30,695 miles on 7/22/2022 from an authorized dealer. Vehicle had 1 previous owner and a clean record. At around 50,000 miles the car started to have some computer glitches. Interior lights and radio turning on and off. Interior screen changing randomly and rapidly between functions. Nothing to where I was too concerned. I would turn the car on and off and it would fix itself. I am now at 56,000 miles and on 7/23/23 and my car had every light on the dashboard light up. It had the engine light, brake system, traction, steering ACC and was showing warnings for: Adaptive cruise control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind spot warning, Forward collision warning, Lane departures warning, Lane keeping assistance, Parking collision warning, Rear cross traffic warning. I just received a call from the Honda Mechanic, and they informed me it was the fuel injectors and possible spark plugs. It will cost $1,730.00. They are also going to do a computer update and reset. Why is this problem not under warranty? This car is not that old and I make sure all my maintenance is done.

My 2019 CRV stopped running in the middle of the road. The car stalled and every warning light came on. It wouldn’t restart and had to be towed. Based on research it is the fuel injectors. Honda knows about the problem and won’t do a recall. Others have said parts are on back order.

While driving the vehicle on multiple occasions, the emergency braking system would abruptly apply the brakes with the driver not applying AND there being NO cars within 500 feet or more of the car. In one case, no other car was on the road. No accidents occured as of yet, but one could easily result. The movement felt like a disfunction given the timing and lack of cars around.

Travelling appoximently 25-30mph when the vehicle in front of me, towing a small camper, stopped suddenly to avoid a suddenly stopped vehicle in front of them, causing me to rear-end them at appoximently 15-20mph. My airbags did not deploy

While driving on a 4 lane highway at about 60-65 MPH the automatic brake system activated. There was no apparent reason for the brakes to be applied at that time. There was no car close to me in front of me. it only lasted about a second and only slowed the vehicle down instead of bringing it to a complete stop. The risk to me was if a car had been close behind me I might have been hit from behind. The problem has not occurred since and I have not taken it to a dealer. I noticed the dash light said BRAKE but that occurred during the braking event rather than before it. I had put RainX on my windshield before leaving home and I have questioned if that had any influence on the camera seeing through the windshield. I have applied RainX on the windshield since then but I avoided putting in on the section in front of the camera.

I was driving about 25mph and my car came to a hard brake and stopped completely on its own. I did not have a brake warning light, no cars were too close in front of me. It almost caused the car behind me to rear end me. This is a 2019 Honda CRV with approximately 46,000 miles on it.

The contact stated while driving 50 MPH with her grandchild in the vehicle, the collision mitigation braking system (CMBS) engaged abruptly, nearly causing a crash. The brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that there were no objects or vehicles nearby the vehicle at the time of the failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred on two occasions. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

My vehicle did not want to start, upon getting my vehicle checked by a mechanic my battery, starter, alternator, key fob were good. Mechanic checked the car with his computer and no problems appeared in the system. Upon checking online many Hondas and Acura's have been this issue were the car doesn’t want to start or doesn’t want to turn off. Many articles online show these issues are with the start button on these cars. The engine from my 2019 CRV almost started when using the keyless function from the key fob while outside the vehicle. My mechanic said there has to be an electrical or computer issue because the car wants to start but it’s not getting enough signal. This is a big safety issue that a car is unresponsive, if your in a parking lot or closed structure and the car does not want to turn off it can turn into a big safety hazard.

Fuel injector failure. Warning lights indicate multiple accessory issues/failures; ie, emergency parking brake, cruise control, lane departure etc. This is a known issue to Honda and the parts are on back order for 6 weeks now.

2019 CRV After recent service (May 2023 63,000 miles) We had oil change/tire rotation. We noticed about a week later the car would make a clicking sound when turning to the left and the steering wheel would stick where it wouldn't move. We called the dealership where all service has been performed. We brought it in on the 19th of June and 2 techs and an advisor said they drove it and could not duplicate the problem. We drove off and first turn that was made the clicking sound happened and the steering wheel would stick in place. I was asked to bring in back in after complaining that it was still having the same issue. Within 30 mins I was told the power steering rack would need to be replaced at a cost of $3,110. I said this car is 4 years old and it already need 15% of its value in repairs? I am still paying on it. The dealership just said this is what is wrong with it and this is how much it is to repair. I called corporate Honda and told them I didn't believe this was something that should be tearing up at 60k miles. They talked to the dealer and said they will pay for 60% of it but I'm still on the hook for $1400. Looking at other complaints here it seems this should be a recall and covered by Honda. I advise everyone to buy an extended warranty because this is not part of the powertrain. The replaced part is only covered for 12 months 12,000 miles.

Vehicle had a engine failure at 64,000 miles, vehicle was very well maintained by dealer, on time, I went in for a oil change drove in to the dealer, got vehicle back and 400 miles down the road had loud knock in the engine, dealer told me they saw metal shavings, possibly a spun bearing from oil dilution, they refuse to repair it as it’s passed the 60,000 warranty mark leaving me with a $6000 bill

The vehicle automatically came to a screeching stop at highway speed (50 mph) with no obstructions in the roadway. Our safety and the safety of others was jeopardized because we lost control of the vehicle during the incident. The manufacturers service center is scheduled to look at the vehicle but has no record of any complaints despite thousands of similar complaints recorded online. They do not have a service bulletin to guide them in repair or testing and are unsure of the way to proceed. The ‘Brake’ light came on and flashed prior to the skid. The light is typically deployed when encroaching on another vehicle or obstacle when normally driving.

Rear backup camera has intermittent power loss and loss of entertainment system. There is also popping, cracking sounds and info screen goes off and on. I first noticed this issues about 3 months ago. It was intermittent at first but now the issue is happening all the time I first reported this problem to the Honda dealer about a month ago and they told me there has been no camera issues reported I rechecked with Honda dealer (6-28-2023) and they have had no recall notice and have not heard of this issue with the 2019 Honda CRV. The dealer would charge me $159.00 to see if they can reproduce the problem. This issue is causing an problem as I rely on the rear camera when backing. No warning lights/ messages have shown

The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact then drove to his residence at a slower speed; however, the failure persisted while driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the low-pressure fuel pump was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The steering has been "sticky" when turning and has gotten increasingly more difficult to turn and has been not operating correctly, meaning you don't know if you are going to need to overcompensate or under. We took it into the dealership for the fuel pump recall and they couldn't identify the problem. We told them to keep it for a day or two and keep trying. My wife went in and did a test drive with the foreman and he said the power rack steering and the sensors were failing and it would need to be replaced. The service advisor said it was fine to drive as my wife had a conference three hours away, but after having the car back for a week it had gotten noticeable worse with creaks and clicks when turning in particular. I called and spoke to the service manager and he said that he would not drive it to the conference, so it is basically unsafe to drive at this point as we don't know when it will fail or what kind of accident we could get in while driving it. There were no lights or warning to indicate the failure and as I said, the technician and service advisor at first couldn't identify the problem, but we are all in agreement that the steering is failing.

Driving on the interstate at approximately 70 mph when car started jerking and lost power and would not go over 35mph. We were able to make it to an exit but then had to have the car towed for repair.

As I drive the car slows down by itself without me pressing the brakes and no other car in front of me.

While exit off MD Rt 50 (exit 22) on the Arris T Allen Blvd, the AEB activated suddenly with both a flashing notification “BRAKE” on the dash and then a strong application of the brakes with no other cars in the vicinity…fortunately there were no cars immediately behind us. We were decelerating from 55 mph with 4 people in the car (all wearing seatbelts) when the incident occurred and the inertial locks on all four seatbelts engaged. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, let up on the gas pedal, and resumed normal driving. There have been previous “false indication” incidents of the flashing AEB “BRAKE” notification with no threat vehicles nearby; this was the first time that emergency braking was activated.

Driving 35 mph in my 2019 CRV EX, and all of a sudden, the brake started braking on its own. There was no warning, and the brake warning light came on several times with the brake braking on and off several times. There were not any objects, cars, or obstructions around. We (friend as passenger) came to a sudden stop when the braking first started up. It felt like major whiplash with jerking like motions. This lasted about 5 seconds and was just shocking. Our chests hurt afterwards, and it felt like the life was taken out of us. I was not using the cruise control/CMBS on at the time, but it was on to use if needed. I called Stirling Honda the next day about the problem and scheduled an appt. to bring the SUV in 6/22/2023. The lady did not seem to be too worried in my opinion. I actually have not been using the cruise control and CMBS at all, and actually have disabled it (turned off). This is a big safety concern, and thank God there was not a car in front of me or in back of me. I cannot imagine being at a higher speed and this happening.

I have a 2019 Honda CRV, purchased new on Guam from Triple J Honda (Tamuning) on Jan 2020. As of May 2023, my car has about 32,000 miles but my car began having trouble starting [engine made sputtering(?) noises when turning the key] that morning. Then, while driving in traffic, the car had STALLED/STOPPED WORKING in the middle of rush hour (around 9AM) traffic!!! THANK the LORD, though, the traffic light had just turned red so all the other drivers were slowing down around me! I tried over & over again, but the car wouldn't start! So, the police had to stop/redirect traffic and also helped me push my car to a safe area. Almost all the warning signals on my dashboard were lit on, so I wasn't sure what caused the problem. The engine warning light was also on, so I had a towing company take my car home to replace with a new Honda battery. After placing a new Honda car battery (bought at Triple J Tamuning), it still had difficulty starting, made sputtering noises, and was drivable for only 2-3 feet, then it died again! I had to tow my car again but to Triple J Honda (Tamuning) to diagnose the problem. The service advisor told me that the reason why my car won't start is because "You have a major problem with your fuel pump." I researched online and found that 2018-2019 Honda CRV had safety recalls for the fuel pumps. So, I searched the nhtsa & owners.honda.com websites whether there's a safety recall for my car; but there's no recall showing based on my VIN. Is it true that more

I have owned my Honda since it had 11 miles on it, brand new in the parking lot I took it home. I’ve noticed in the past few months since September of 2022 ish the lane assist, and lane departure do not work now. Out of 100 times I drive the lane keep only works maybe 5/100 times. I called the dealership explaining how it’s a safety concern if it ever defected. And it’s not keeping me in the lane or even trying to read the lines on the road. The dealer wanted $199 just to look at it. I ended up watching a YouTube video, disconnecting and cleaning my battery, resetting all systems and computer. It fixed it for a day, then stopped working again. I haven’t taken it to the dealer because I can’t afford $199 hair for them to look at it. Also, my car is four years old and I’ve had fluid leaking out of the bottom of my car since I bought it. My mechanic and I both thought it was an oil leak. Then assumed it was factory oil from the new engine or the ac unit. Well at my last state inspection Honda wanted $1200 because my right front strut was leaking fluid. Which explains the wobbliness and uneven drive in the vehicle. I just had my tires replaced and the vehicle drives very unstable. I spent $250 on the part online and replaced it myself and it has been corrected but now I need a $130 alignment from Honda. Not been in an accident but I grew up in a mechanic family. I do all of my own maintenance with a family member on a lift.

Driving at 20-25 MPH on Chicago’s LaSalle Street at the Chicago River bridge the automatic braking system engaged stooping the car suddenly with a skid. No brake warning light came on nor chimes sound. It seams as though I needed to shift into park and back into drive to get going again. If someone had been behind me they would have rear ended me. Thought - given the bridge deck is metal grating, May that have set off the system?

This has happened several times, when cruise control is activated like 1/50 times the car will go into limp mode randomly with the brakes activating at speed. This makes it very difficult to steer and has led to me almost getting hit. I have stopped using cruise control and the problem has not happened since

The car was cranked as usual and immediately the following multiple warnings began scrolling through on screen: Hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, electric parking brake problem, tire pressure monitor problem. The car was driven directly to Van York Honda Dealership in High Point, NC. Their diagnosis was "needs injectors and pipe". The service representative informed me that the injectors are on backorder with no estimated time of arrival, and you can drive your car, but we do not what it may do. So, the safety issue is that at any point the injectors could fail. After doing my own research, I have been made aware of many others with Honda CRV are having the same problem diagnosed with fuel injectors and are on backorder. I notified American Honda, but they cannot give an estimated time of arrival for injectors either.

Bought the car in August 2019. After a few days I saw the touchscreen beeping for no reason as if buttons on the screen were pressed. That still happens every 6 months or so. From “time to time “Brake" warnings show for no reason when the road is completely open once in a while (which could be very dangerous if it automatically applied brakes for "emergency"). Over the last 4 years this must have happened 5-6 times. Had a dead battery for no reason in April 2021. AAA jump started and replaced it after the second failure the same day. The same battery problem (for no reason) happened in May 2023. I try my best not to keep any electrical systems running when I stop the engine. If I turn on the electrical (by pressing START twice) to open the windows etc, I immediately turn them off right away because it drains the battery very quickly. That’s exactly what happened in May 2023, the fan drained the battery in just one minute and “brake failure” message showed on the dashboard. Honda service was helpful. They replaced the battery and checked to make sure no drainage. American Honda simply emailed me back that there is no such electrical/battery problems even though I see many complaints online. So I wanted to report it.

This vehicle has experienced intermittent false alarms where the emergency braking system flashed the Orange “BRAKE” symbol without due cause. This issue has occurred intermittently over the vehicles entire life. For context I purchased this car new and have been the registered and sole operator since its purchase. On 5/25/2023 the emergency braking system fully engaged the brakes without cause, brining my vehicle to a fast and hard stop on top of rail tracks in San Diego CA. No adverse outcomes happened, thankfully. There was no train coming and the vehicle behind me had enough distance and time to maneuver without causing any accidents. It is highly concerning that this software took control and engaged the brakes in a completely unnecessary situation, let alone the fact that this happened on rail tracks and could have resulted in much worse outcomes for myself and others.

The paint under the rear hatch at the top where the roof meets the rear is gone and rust is already coming thru. I have reached out to Honda Corporation of America as well as Hendrick Honda in Concord, NC where I purchased the vehicle, however both have refused to help me. I leased the vehicle new and purchased it last April as a certified pre owned. It has a 5 year rust warranty as well as 1 year added to the new car warranty when I purchased it.

I was driving down a straightaway road, with no cars ahead of me, when suddenly the car flashed the breaking warning on the dashboard and suddenly the cars brakes engaged very harshly. I narrowly missed getting rear-ended by a truck. The brake light warning has erroneously gone off intermittently but I have never had the car automatically and so severely brake.

Crv 2019, 37000 miles odometer. Battery and starter cable replaced but then later all dash board ligth are ON an d break ligths blinking. Honda said it’s the fuel injectors and released it says it’s ok to drive.

I was the first car in line at a red light. When the light turned green, I removed my foot from the brake and accelerated. I was probably about a car length into the intersection when the BRAKE warning light illuminated and the automatic braking system applied brake. I would describe it as the car slammed on the brakes. There was nothing at all in the intersection which would have caused the brakes to need to be applied. No debris or other vehicles turning. was very startled. I have periodically had this happen in the past but did not make note the details. I will also contact my car dealership. It does give me concern to drive the car and that my safety could be at risk.

While driving 55mph on a 2 lane highway the CMBS flashed the orange BRAKE on my car dash multiple times for absolutely no reason applying a slight brake. There was nothing in front of me or near the car to even set this off. Luckily no cars were behind me. I’ll have to be turning this feature off and have it looked at by my private Honda mechanic in a few weeks. This could cause a serious accident and now I’m scared to ever have this feature on!

The car was off but plugged into an iPhone to play music for 10-15 minutes. Would not start and stated brake failure, system failures, etc. . Jumped the battery and the car started. The car battery is in good shape.

In stop and go traffic on I-264, Norfolk, Virginia at the top of the Berkely Bridge my car's automatic emergency braking engaged suddenly without warning. I was not close to the car in front of me and did not have my foot on the accelerator. This happened at approximately 3:45 PM. This has never happened before even though I drive in similar situations daily. I will report this to Honda and call my local dealership. From a Google search I found this has happened to other CR-V owners.

Driving 40mph when vehicle went from 40mph to 15mph in 2 seconds. There were no cars or animals on the road.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the battery power was drained, and the battery was replaced. While her husband was driving the TPMS, emissions, brakes, all-wheel drive, brake hold system, and electronic braking warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving, the warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted but the warning lights remained illuminated. The contact called the local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 65,500. The contact stated was told that it is a fuel injector issue. My extended warranty will cover the fuel injectors but not the pipe set which is $270 and there is a national back order issued on the parts needed to repair the vehicle.

Vehicle purchased 1/2020. Nov 2020 car had issues with the center screen going black. Had to pull over several times and to restart the car to get it to come back on. The round start button was flashing red when the vehicle was off, also the auto brake light has come on several times and there is no obstruction anywhere. Brought to dealer and they did a software update. mileage was 12,936. 5/16/22 Dead battery twice. Had AAA come to jump the vehicle. Took to local dealer mileage 29,641 battery test failed. replace battery under warranty. Had to leave the car all afternoon. 2/27/23 Car ran for 20 min, Went to move it 2 hrs later battery was dead. Had AAA come and jump it to get it to the dealer. It was going to snow for the rest of the day and we needed to get the car moved in the carport to get to our snow blower. Service closed at 5 pm. They said I could bring it and leave it in the lot for the next day. I brought it myself the next day after driving the car for an hr and starting it several times in the night. battery replaced under extended warranty plan. mileage 31,396 Was told by dealer to keep a charger on it if it was not going to be driven for more than a day. Seems to be some kind of electrical problem drawing the power down. Two batteries on a SUV with this mileage is not normal.

Engine stall when start up. lossing power while driving and making loud noise. All warning lights randomly flashing. Gas smell from tailpine.

The paint under the rear tailgate at the top is gone and surface rust has already started to come thru. Honda has had issues with several models of CRV’s with different model years resulting in recalls. This model is having the same issue. The owners manual does show a 5 year warranty no mileage for surface rust if it is a “ lack of craftsmanship “ but Honda is not wanting to stand behind this. I leased this vehicle new and bought it last year as a “certified pre owned “ which was supposed to start the new vehicle warranty over. Vehicle has never been in an accident. I know of at least one other person at my workplace with the same issue with his CRV.

While traveling 35 mph, car abruptly braked itself with no approaching vehicles or obstructions. There was no warning, everything on the seat went flying forward.
