1. CMBS (front collision detection system) has malfunctioned approximately 3-4 times over the past 3 years. 2. While operating the vehicle in different settings, front-collision will incorrectly detect something in front of the car when nothing is there and apply brakes causing the car to stop suddenly and unexpectedly. The first 2 incidents occurred in my parking structure and no one was behind me. The 3rd incident occurred while driving on a surface street in Honolulu, and again no one was ahead or behind me. The final incident occurred today ([XXX] at approximately [XXX] HST). There was no one in front and a car behind me and the CMBS flashed a warning and slammed on the brakes bringing the car to a complete stop. Car behind me was forced to stop to avoid rear-end collision. 3. I took the car in for inspection after the 3rd incident last year (Pacific Honda dealership). Vehicle was inspected, mechanic took the car for a test drive, and was unable to replicate the problem. I was told this happens and car was returned to me. 4. There were no warning lights or messages indicating a problem with the CMBS prior to these events occurring. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
2019 Honda CR-V complaints

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The warning lights periodically went on and off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who reprogrammed the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,770. The VIN was unavailable.
ON 2 separate occasions, the latest being today 3 March 2024 the automatic braking system has engaged when no obstacle present.
The Honda Collision Mitigation System (CMBS) engaged incorrectly. I was accelerating from an intersection with no cars in front of me or next to me when the car flashed the “BRAKE” warning and engaged the brakes hard causing the car to come to a nearly full stop from around 25-30 mph. Had there been a car behind me, they would have been at risk of hitting me because of the sudden nature of braking. Fortunately that didn’t happen, but the hard braking did strain my neck. This had not happened before, but in the past, I have noticed the system incorrectly flashing the “BRAKE” message when cars turn right from in front of me. I would make the vehicle available for inspection if asked, and will bring the issue to the dealership’s attention too.
Sometimes when you shut the car off, the fuel pump in the fuel tank continues to run. I restarted my car and shut it off and the fuel pump will stop. I'm not sure if it's a bad relay or in the wiring. I don't park near the house. Thanks

In November of 2023, I started having a noise in the front end of my 2019 Honda CRV. I took it into the local Honda dealership and was told that I had a bad power steering rack. They replaced the steering gear box. I was concerned that a vehicle with only 34,000 miles on it would have such an important component break so soon. I looked on [XXX] & saw there were multiple reports of the same thing occurring on other same year, low mileage cars. There were reports on the same website that indicated some had actual problem when steering. I reported it to American Honda, they were responsive, but I did not know that this was the group that needed to be alerted to the problem. So, I am addressing it now. Thanks for your time. I am reaching out because I received a recall notice for my HONDA CRV 2019. I received a notice that there’s and issue with the fuel pump and I am concerned because Honda sent a notice now in February but they have known about the issue since December. I called Honda World Downey and I was told they would now be able to help me and to call back. I take this matter very seriously as I am concerned something may happen to me while I am driving the vehicle. I was told that they may be able to help me in Fall of 2024 that’s 6 plus months away. I am unsure if I should drive my vehicle. Can I please get some advice.
I had my cargo door up loading some things into the back of the car when the back window broke and pieces fell everywhere- on me, in the car and on the ground. Nothing came into contact with the window when it happened.
All of these warning indicator messages pop up on dash: electric parking brake problem, tire pressure monitor problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering system problem, hill assist etc. My battery was changed and my system was checked but these lights still come on frequently. This has been going on for over a year.

The NHTSA announced a recall in the fall 2023 for Honda CR-V 2018-2020 regarding the fuel pump module which may have an improperly molded impeller. The safety issue says the car may not start or may stall while driving. I travel frequently on highways, so stalling is not a pleasant outcome. On 2/13/24, I finally received a written notice from Honda indicating that my vehicle is affected. However, Honda states that parts will not be available until fall 2024! How can this be acceptable?? I don't have another vehicle to use. Do I continue driving my vehicle and hope that it does not suddenly stop?

Randomly all (12 or 13) warning lights come on my dash. Everything from check engine, cruise control problem, hill start problem, braking problem, tire pressure problems, etc. Honda claims they don't find any problems with my car, but I have had this happen for years. Even under warranty, the dealership and Honda of America did nothing.
Driving in a 45 mph area and automatic braking system engaged for absolutely no reason and car came to a jerking halt. I was nearly rear-ended. Scared myself and 3 children in the car with me.
Infotainment system failure. Doesn't work for hands free. Phone doesn't connect for GPS or the way it's intended for phone calls, etc.
Driving in freezing rain wipers stopped working
Warning lights kept cycling thru and dinging every half second. Took it to dealer and it is a faulty front camera in the windshield. They said they see it all the time and immediately diagnosed it. Said it is a faulty design and costs ~$1,700.
Car has a steering problem. After driving for a while at highway speeds, the steering "catches" or is "sticky" where it takes extra effort to make even minor adjustments. The car has been doing this for approximately 10K miles (one year) and is making us nervous about taking any long road trips at highway speeds. The car is out of warranty and the dealer is indicating the electric power steering unit is probably at fault, but will not honor a safety replacement and will charge approximately $3500 for replacement.. This certainly should be honored as a recall safety problem.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V equipped with Firestone Tires, Tire Line: Destination LE3, Tire Size: 235/60/R18, DOT Number: [XXX]. The contact stated that after the vehicle was taken to the tire dealer for tire rotation, the wheel sensor warning light illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle vibrated and made an abnormal sound while driving. The contact pulled over to inspect the tires and discovered that the front driver's side tire had been plugged with an unknown object. The vehicle was taken back to the tire dealer, where air was added to the tires. The front driver's side tire was not replaced. The tire manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The tire failure mileage was 30,000. The vehicle failure mileage was 54,000. The VIN was unavailable. Vehicle went into crash avoidance mode unexpectedly with no vehicles directly ahead. There was a vehicle beside me in an adjacent lane. I was traveling at about 40mph and had just completed a turn when the BRAKE warning appeared on the dash and the brakes were suddenly applied. The incident lasted for only a few seconds and the controls returned to normal. The problem this caused a sudden decrease in speed. Fortunately there were no cars nearby so I did not have any trouble. While returning home after a stop, the BRAKE warning light momentarily appeared on the dash, but this time the brakes were not applied. This has never happened before. There has been no inspection of the vehicle at this point by anyone. As a footnote. on 23 January, the windshield was replaced by Safelite Auto Glass who recalibrated the camera system as part of the service.
Fuel contamination leads to the dilution of my engine oil. I perform my own oil changes, ensuring the engine is filled to 50% on the dipstick. Typically, after 4 to 5 months, the dipstick indicates the oil level at FULL due to fuel contamination. This causes me to change the oil to prevent excessive engine wear caused by dilution. This problem started ever since I purchased the SUV (2019 Honda CRV EX) new on 8/31/2019.
Starting at just over 36,000 miles after the last time I used LKAS there is now a stickiness in the steering. Light catches that almost seem like the LKAS is still trying to correct. I can overcome the catches, but makes the steering less comfortable than it should be and worry about worsening issue. Will be taking the car in for service but have seen may issues related to steering on this model of car, so wanted to make sure all complaints are noted by NHTSA. No warning lights are showing.
A little over two weeks ago we took our 2019 Honda CRV to the dealership because all the indicator lights were lighting up on the dashboard. It started as I was sitting in the car with the car idling as I waited for my husband to come out of the store. We took a short video of what it was doing. The car was at the dealership the next day, but there were no indicator lights like the previous day. We shared the video with the service rep. When we picked it up we were told the fuel injectors needed to be replaced and it would cost in excess of $2,300. The car has less than 78,000 miles on it. The service rep said that if it was his car he would not drive it a distance (freeway) with this problem. That says to me that it is a safety issue. We had been concerned that it could be an electrical issue because the car was in a front-end, side-swipe collision in November 2023, and we had just gotten it back from repairs at the dealership two weeks before the indicator lights problem. The service rep assured us it was not an electrical problem. I looked up the problem on the internet. On [XXX] there were a number of other Honda CRV owners with the same problem at about the same mileage. Our safety is at risk with possible risk to friends and family because we need to drive on the freeway for daily activities. We took it to an independent automotive service location. They did not come to the same conclusion; the indicator lights were no longer on. This vehicle component has not been insp

I received the initial msg sending from the rental platform Turo on 12/18/2023 stating that my car has to be unlisted due to FUEL PUMP NOT TO RESALE, since then I have been contacting my local HONDA dealerships all over and see what repairs I need to get it fixed. It has been more than a month, no any advisors contacted me yet, nor any dealerships has the part yet. Everytime I call, they said it is safe to drive, but when I ask for the paperwork/ clarification letter that Turo required in order to relist my car, no one was able to help. This inconvenience has been a huge financial lost as a Turo host. I don't get any update, not even an official letter for more than a month. As far as I received the initial Turo msg, I had been driving normally, nothing weird happened. So my questions are : 1. How long would take Honda to get the part ordered? 2. If it is safe to drive, who shall have the access to get me a letter to satisfy Turo? 3. If it is not safe to drive, should Honda replace a temporary car for me to drive without any charge? Thank you
The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle idled extremely rough. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a misfire in cylinder #1. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 19-037. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The AEB system has malfunctioned on two occasions while driving the vehicle. Yes, the safety of myself & others was put at risk. The problem has not been confirmed by the dealer, but I plan on contacting the dealership this week to inform them of the issue and get more information on how to fix this problem. There has been no warning messages or other symptoms of the problem before. On both occasions where the AEB system malfunctioned, the dashboard screen lit up and said "brake" even though there was no traffic in front of my vehicle. The first time this happened was about a month ago, and the second occasion happened just yesterday afternoon.

All dashboard warning lights were lit. Looked it up on line and prior years had their warranty period extended to include fuel injectors. My coded for this. Had to have them replaced at a Honda dealership. But my car is 5 yrs. Old with 61k and I have to pay for the repair. This is a safety issue as I was told the car could stop without warning while driving. Honda will only do a recall or warranty exception if you make them. I contacted Honda corporate and they refunded a warranty exception even though this car was dangerous to keep driving with the fuel injector failure.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 73 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights flashing on the instrument panel. The contact coasted the vehicle off to the shoulder of the highway. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it remained. The contact later received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. I am taking this vehicle on a trip and am concerned that it will stop running due to the faulty fuel pump. I have contacted my dealer and Honda. I was told there is nothing they can do. I am [XXX] and I am not comfortable taking this vehicle on a trip. I may get stranded in a remote location or in bad weather. Please help. I am leaving this Friday. I have tried to resolve this with Honda and the dealer. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the messages "Emission System Problem", "Brake System Problem”, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Problem", "Brake Hose System Problem" and "Power Steering EPS Fault" were displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle had not experienced a mechanical failure. The contact stopped driving the vehicle due to safety concerns. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
While driving the car at highway speed the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power to all essential functions. The engine shutdown and there was no steering and loss of some of the brake functions. Multiple warnings started showing ( too many to list here ). The car came to a stop partially in the highway and we experienced several near misses by passing vehicles before we could get enough assistance to push the vehicle out of the roadway. Since this incident a simple search has shown that this is a very common problem with this vehicle. It appears that it could be a problem with the computer software. This problem has a very high potential for serious injury or death when it occurs while driving at highway speeds. Please look into this issue as soon as possible.
Seems like this is an on going issue honda safety systems failing around 30k miles. loss of all systems VSA, RMS, ACC, CMS. prior to all loss, the system would out of the blue activate when there was no cause. system will not reset and all dash warnings are on all started when the front right wheel might have had a slip issue going through a puddle of water. with the large amounts of failures, honda needs to step up and fix these issues as it is now a guaranteed profit maker for their dealers as estimated cost is 1800 dollars, pretty stiff for fixed ss income.
All the warning lights come on. When they do, none of the features work including cruise control and advanced vehicle detection.
I live in Puerto RIco. I was just quoted $3,000 for new Rack and Pinion. Vehicle always maintained correctly and almost new, not even 5 years. Honda knows that this problem with the Rack and Pinions exist and is a safety concern and issue. Other three vehicles in the dealer repair shop with the same issue, one of them with only 900 miles. Other customers had to pay full price. Honda knows about this problem, a recent recall for Civics was announced for their Rack and Pinions. Many Rack and Pinions have problems and Honda has not recalled this part for CRVs. I change engine oil every 3,000 miles with high quality Synthetic oil. Honda original filter. Changed Transmission oil every 30,000 miles and coolant as well. This is a SAFETY, a costly part the Honda knows is faulty and should be recalled immediately. I'm a customer that bought this Honda CRV-Touring expecting the quality and reliability that Honda has claimed. Today I received the news of a gas pump recalled, and a prematurely faulty Rack and Pinion. This is just unbelievable. I'm writing in the hopes of some good news from Honda to replace my Rack and Pinion before an accident happens. I'm still paying for this vehicle. Waiting for your prompt response, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Nothing has happened thus far, but: Read about the recall in the paper. Went to the Honda website where they confirmed the vehicle is part of the recall and said "Your search results indicate that your vehicle may be affected by a recall. If you conducted your search by VIN, please take immediate action to have your vehicle repaired, as your safety may be at risk." Went to the NHTSA website, where you all said, "Safety Risk: If the fuel pump module is inoperative, the engine may not start or can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury." Additionally from NHTSA "Recall Status: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available." Called the local Honda dealership and they said they won't have parts until Fall 2024. Per NHTSA website "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please file an online complaint with NHTSA." So that's what I'm doing.
Was parked on side of road. No previous warning lights. Car would not start. Unable to put on hazard lights in dark on highway. Had to be towed. All dash wearing lights on only. Was at dealer 2 months prior due to all dash lights on and power failure. Replaced battery and car was re coded per dealer. Prior to that all dash lights came on when car turned off and had to disconnect battery cable every night. Now car does not turnover when jumped and battery charged. Dealer thinks might be a smart unit and parasitic battery drain. Car only has 42000 miles on it. No hazards, worried about being rear ended. i What if there was an abrupt power failure while driving. Living in Wisconsin what if stranded in freezing temps. Unreliable car due to manufacture defects.
Rear doors will not open when getting out or opening. I changed batteries in key fob, but didn't help. 12/27/23 all lights on dash went black and stayed off for about 5 miles. I've had the brakes stop me and I was thrown forward hard. My main worry is if my electrical system goes out while driving, will my car lock up and cause an accident?

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
