The gear shift button popped off while the car was in drive. The plastic broke, making it impossible to reattach. In order to switch the gear, I had to reach into the gear shift with my finger to manually press down where the button was. It would have been impossible to quickly shift my gear if I had needed.

I was parked at a local pharmacy. I put the vehicle in reverse and the car would not move I had to call a tow truck to take my car to my home. I was advised by a mechanic who read my car electronically that it was the RR Brake Caliper Only the left side is responding the right is totally out and that's why it's locked up. I now have to take my vehicle back to the Honda dealership to get it fixed. I've had to get rides to work and unsure if this is covered under my warranty. If not I'll have to pay with funds that I do not have. The vehicle had been shaking slightly as I made stops that day. If I had been on the road I may have been rear-ended if I had to make a stop. There were no warning information messages prior to this incident occurring.

On three occasions - most recently on May 22, 2022 - the emergency braking system stopped the car completely for no apparent reason. If there had been cars behind me, all 3 times would have cause collisions. Dealer service department would not acknowledge the problem, even though I explained I had read about other complaints. My Honda CRV's shift knob button broke off while I was driving. I had a hard time parking the car. After 20 minutes or so of trying, I somehow managed to park the car. After I parked, I noticed there were broken pieces of plastic inside the shift where the knob button was attached. I was scared to drive after this incident. Also, I felt this as a safety concern as I can't imagine my daughter being in this situation as she will be a new driver soon. I am attaching the pictures for your reference. Thank you.

This problem has happened several times. All of the system warning lights activate. Electronic emergency brake, driver assist, tire pressure, lane departure, emergency collision warning etc. etc. etc. approximately nine total. None of these features work after the system lights activate. If the emergency brake and other features won’t work it is a safety issue ! The only way to reset these features is to unhook the battery for approx 5 minutes. I’ve complained to the dealer with no solution. After the system is reset it lasts for 3 or 4 weeks and then starts again. This problem started approx 6 months ago.

Brake warning activated for no apparent reason and brakes were engaged while traveling at 45 mph and 30 mph on two occasions. Fear rear end collision, but in both instances there was no collisions. Have not taken it to dealer based on research of this problem as reported by other drivers. No inspections were made at the time of this writing. Brake warning light came on with no time to react and brakes were engaged without driver intervention.

All warning lights on dash show up upon starting vehicle. Used to be intermittent, now constant. When lights are on, none of the safety or advanced driving features work--eg cruise control, lane keep assist, anti lock brake, parking brake. It has been taken to the dealership twice for this issue, and dealership has tried various things from replacing battery to updating software with no effect, costing hundreds of dollars and weeks of it being in the shop. From my internet search, this problem seems widespread and I do not feel safe driving without the safety features, ABS, etc.

2017 Honda CR-V. Driving and when arrived to destination went to put car into park and the shifter button was missing. Found it on the floor of the vehicle. The plastic on the button that is inserted had broken. Had trouble getting car into park. Did feel safe to drive. Called dealership they said there was a recall with a range of vin #'s, but my vehicle wasn't in that range. Very bizarre that it happened. Obviously, a defective part and Honda should cover it. Important piece to have just broken like it did.

I have experienced problems with this since December 2021. All warning lights start flashing with Hill start problem, brake system problem, brake hold problem, adaptive control problem, stability problem, TPMS problem, Road departure mitigation problem. These warning continue to cycle over and over. Once the warnings are cleared, there are no issues for a few weeks to a month, but it returns. This has occurred 5-6 times since December. I replaced the battery three weeks ago and the issue reappeared today, 27 Apr 22. While researching the issue, I discovered many Honda users experiencing the same issue. This is an issue Honda has to address this issue. I am the only owner of my vehicle which only has 39K miles on it.

After many tries, he was finally able to put the knob on the gear shifter to place the vehicle in park. My question, why is that particular part made in plastic? The part that actually attaches to the gear shifter should be out of steel and the button part that is actually touched daily can be made out of plastic. Just a suggestion.

In a construction single lane road my car braked extremely hard. My speed was less than 10 mph. The zone had pylons, two flagmen who were stationary and a raised metal plate over a trench. It happened twice, once in each direction. I immediately called Lawley Honda and brought it in after work. Their only guess is that I accidentally turned on the cruise/driver assist button on the lower right side of my steering wheel. They also said it could have happened during my oil change 4 days ago. I have never in the years I’ve owned this car accidentally turned on this control. They did not take my vehicle into the service bay. I read an article saying you're investigating sudden braking on Honda's that have advanced safety features, I wanted to comment on my experiences as they are moderately dangerous. There are 2 instances where my car will suddenly brake (and flash a warning on the dash) when it's not necessary: 1. Going under a an overpass during the day. The automatic braking system gets confused by shadows. If the cruise is on, the car will brake, though not all the time. Maybe half the time. Almost all the time, I will get a warning to brake, even if there is no one else around. 2. When I have the adaptive cruise control on and I'm on the highway in the right lane, if the car in front of me slows down to exit, 100% of the time my car will brake hard, and if I'm not paying attention to turn off the adaptive cruise, the hard braking and sudden declaration has nearly caused me to be rear ended. It's not safe, I didn't know you were looking into this so I've been ignoring it since I've had the car. Since you're looking into this, it has not caused an accident, but the hard braking is jarring and unexpected, both to me and people behind me. And it's not necessary, because there's no risk of accident, someone is taking a highway offramp. I have not brought this to a dealer to check out because it's happened since the first day I've owned the car. Again, this is repeatable, it happens 100% of the time. Hope this helps and I hope you can get Honda to issue a software update to fix this hard, unexpec

I was driving on an urban street this morning at approx 20-25 mph, with cars in front and behind be (at least 2 car-lengths away. I had stopped at an intersection and continued on when the light turned green, following a car in front of me at a safe 2-car length distance. My car suddenly had a warning sound, and the instrument panel was blinking. When I looked to read it (flashing "BRAKE") the car had already started its emergency brake. It was approx 6:15am, and dark outside. The only thing that can be seen the might have caused this was a 1 inch metal panel on the road along my path (indeed the car stopped inches in front of it). A similar incident happened about a year ago, with a similar circumstance of a metal plate on a roadway (not the same road as today). Under a similar speed (30-35mph). That said, I have driven over other metal panels almost daily without incident. This incident seems to be similar to other reports on the news in late Feb 2022, which NHTSA is investigating. The car and passengers are safe. It was checked during routine maintenance about one month ago at an authorized Honda Service Center.

In an incident dated March 28, 2022 a Woodbury, MN, driver attempted to shift from “Park” to “Reverse” to back out of the garage into the driveway, only to look down and find the shift button missing. They searched for the button and found it on the console, having fallen off while in “Reverse.” At the very least, this is an inconvenience. At the very worst, this affects the driver’s control over the car, and it may be disastrous in any situation in which they need to shift into or out of “Reverse” or "Park" very quickly.

On two different occasions, the automatic braking system engaged in an unprovoked circumstance. There was no accident that occurred, however, if a car had been following closely behind--we would have been rear ended. It also does create a stress/adrenaline rush and whips your head/neck due to the sudden nature of overly aggressive braking. In both instances, I was driving approximate 30 mph. There were no cars or obstacles in front of us that would have required the car to stop. In either instance, there was nothing that should have triggered the braking system. The car is available for inspection. I have not had it inspected. The first time it happened just seemed random. Within days of the 2nd incident, I learned of the investigation into the system. There are no warnings that come up or system alerts that anything is off. It is just the equivalent of slamming on the brakes, but your foot is on the gas. And then it recovers and returns to driving normally.

In multiple incidents, the car's automatic emergency braking system engaged while driving on clear roads with no obstructions in front or to the sides of the vehicle. The vehicle has not yet been damaged and is available for inspection. There was no warning from the car before it engaged the brakes. The car slammed the breaks and I lost control of the vehicle and could not prevent it from applying the brakes. This has happened both on city streets and on divided highways. It seems to be most likely to occur in areas where there is a slight bump in the road or some uneven road surfaces that are perfectly safe to drive over if not perfectly flat. My safety and the safety of other drivers around me was put at immediate risk due to the sudden and completely unpredictable nature of this. I was nearly rear-ended in one incident. This has occurred at road speeds over 40-50 miles per hour, making any sudden necessary braking extremely dangerous. The problem has not been reproduced by a service center, but I have encountered it multiple times over the lifetime of the vehicle. Recent service appointments at a dealership showed no issues on inspection. There are absolutely no warning lamps or messages that appear before the braking occurs. Normally, the emergency braking system flashes a warning and audible signal before engaging brakes. However, this does not happen with these incidents and the braking engages immediately without prior warning along with the emergency braking visual an

During a recent vacation my husband and I were on 95N just outside Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. My husband attempted to change lanes into the passing lane. As he depressed the gas pedal and turned into the lane, our Honda stalled and would not respond to any demand for acceleration. By the time we realized what was happening we'd gone from 65 miles per hour to about 30 miles per hour in a heavy flow of traffic, with oncoming traffic decelerating quickly and coming dangerously close upon the rear of our vehicle. There happened to be repairs to the left of our lane, with associated traffic cones so no cars were in that lane, and we were able to drift into that lane and restart our car. This happened once before on a very slow travel lane in my neighborhood and I didn't connect that the car had stalled. In retrospect this is the second occurrence. While I will certainly be taking the car for service at the Honda dealer, I also researched and found out that Honda is aware of this issue and does not deem it a safety issue, thus not using any sort of safety recall. My experience was harrowing, and certainly could have resulted in our own impact and indeed a larger impact on 95N after our stall. This was no joke and luckily my husband did not panic and we were able to respond and drift to safety. If that lane to our left had not been closed, no way could we have made it to the right side of the highway to the "slow" side of the road.

On Thursday, February 17, 2022, I drove home from work in Waycross, Georgia. I was driving my properly-maintained 2017 Honda CRV. I was wearing my seat belt, and the shoulder harness was properly secured across my chest. The day was clear, and at 4:03 p.m., I approached the intersection of Jenkins St, Tebeau St, Plant Ave, and Francis St. This intersection is in the downtown area; it is treated like a perpendicular intersection, although, as you can see from the attached photo, it is not, in fact, perpendicular. There are stop signs on Jenkins and Tebeau; travelers on Plant and Francis do not have to stop. Because of how Francis Street curves onto Plant, and because of the fact that Francis emerges from under an overpass, visibility is poor. I was on Francis St, which becomes Plant Ave headed east. A construction worker driving a 2016 Chevy Silverado K350 TK was fully stopped at the stop sign at the Jenkins St intersection. After stopping, he pulled into the intersection, T-boning my CRV and sending it into a series of spins. My head violently hit the window several times as the vehicle spun. When the CRV finally stopped, my first thought was, "Where are The airbags?" Side curtain airbags had deployed on the passenger side of the vehicle, but no airbags had deployed on the driver's side anywhere--or from the steering wheel.
