Turning the steering wheel requires more force because there’s resistance. It’’s possible to turn the wheel to the left, let go of it and it’ll stay in that direction instead of rotating back. This causes major issues on the highway and during heavy rain. The slightest adjustment causes overcorrection. It’s also accompanied by this creaky/clicking noise.

Fuel injectors failed at 60,000 miles. I do have the failed injectors. The driver's safety was put at risk in the case of engine failure or an unexpected loss of power. This is a common problem documented by owners of the 10th generation Civic Si, other 1.5l turbo Hondas, as well as Honda itself. There was an emission light several weeks ago and an engine light a couple of days ago.

Last week my body control module (bcm) malfunctioned in my car. I was first alerted to this from a car alarm going off. I tried my key fob and nothing happened. Despite nothing happening I walk outside to find it is actually coming from my car and none of the key fob buttons are working.(I have 2 I tried) I was completely locked out of my car and even the physical key was not opening the door. Yet for some reason the trunk was unlocked.(not able to enter car through here.) Looking inside the care to my amazement it was turned on in accessory mode despite me having absolutely no contact with the key except hours prior but the vehicle was properly shut off at that time. The safety concerns posed by this is that this could happen at any point potentially locking a pet, a child, or myself into my car with no means of escape. The car was only in accessory mode, but that means it’s fully capable of turning itself on by itself. Had I parked my car in the garage and it turned over, I’d probably be laying in my house dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. Upon looking online, there were countless occurrences of this happening in Honda’s newer vehicles 2016+. Even to the point where Honda recalled the same body control module issue in their accord and insight models. But why not the civic in their line which suffers from the same issue as their flagship vehicles? I am still unable to get into my car at the moment so I have the part but I’m looking to get it fixed asap as it’s my only veh

Unknown. I arrived to the grocery store and went inside to shop. About 45 minutes later I approached my vehicle and attempted to remote start it. As I approached my vehicle I saw it was on (assuming it was from my remote start). My car wouldn’t unlock. The trunk also wouldn’t unlock. My key fob was not dead as I went back into the grocery store and bought a new battery and replaced it. After that still did not work, I attempted to open my car door with the manual key included in my key fob. The manual key also wouldn’t work. At this point I realized my car was not on due to remote start. My car was actually running the entire time. I was stranded for 5 hours while I had to wait for my fiancé to leave work and travel to the part of town I was on. He was also unsuccessful with using the key. We had to resort to unlocking the door with a wire hanger by sticking it through the door. After we successfully unlocked the door, the car alarm went off and the key was working like nothing ever happened. I also want to mention we went home yo get my spare and the spare wasn’t working. How were all doors locked while the car was completely running. It burned a quarter tank of gas. I just wanted to make this report to note what happened.

Car has power steering issue most noticeable at highway speeds, matching the description of the EPS defect on 2018 Civics (NHTSA ID: 18V663000 ) but my VIN was not included in the recall, despite showing the exact same problem. The steering sticks and has resistance to small adjustments, especially trying to go straight in a lane, & snapping side to side or pulling in opposite direction instead of smoothly turning, intensity varies. There is an audible "clicking" or resistance sound when turning. It's getting increasingly worse overtime, and is a safety issue. Matches testimonials of many other owners of 2018 Civics online. Ive had 3 independent engineers diagnose this issue as a power steering rack problem matching the recall - I have documentation from 2 attached below, the 3rd was an in-person recommendation, document was not provided. Honda is the only diagnostic not acknowledging the EPS problem. Please help me get this replaced so I can drive safely. The contact stated after Honda giving the runaround, they did confirm that the power steering rack is faulty and needs to be replaced . However, since the VIN was not included in the recall for the 2018 Honda Civics, they will not offer me any assistance with the $4200 repair.

Vehicle has had stalling issues when accelerating forward as well. There are no warning messages that appeared on the dash and the car did not cue any codes. This is an extreme driving hazard as it is causing fuel injection issues and a fire hazard while operating the vehicle.

The steering wheel starts sticking when going highway speed around 60-70mph causing me to overcompensate to adjust it to keep following the road, when done so, the car jerks along with the overcompensation. This is causing alot of strain on my arms due to me having to constantly force the wheels to turn to follow the road, took it to the dealership, quoted $4000+ for a steering rack replacement. I hope something gets done about this issue as I’m seeing many similar cases here.

Air conditioner continues to fail and break. I am going back to Honda to fix this issue and I will then have my 4th condenser put in this car. I have a baby on the way and my car has been paid off. Now I'll have to sell this car and get something different so I can actually have air conditioning that works. It was replaced 4 months ago and already I need a new condenser. It's a 2018 civic si so not even a old car by any means. Only 73k miles. Honda keeps replacing it with the recalled parts and it just happens over and over again. Shouldn't have to make a appointment every 4 months to fix the same issue over and over.

Sticky steering. Happens are speeds at 45mph and above. The steering wheel sticks slightly when turning one way or another. This has been going on for about 9 or 10 months. It is available for inspection on request. It could, or would comprise my ability to navigate safely on the road. My independent service center confirms the problem, but in the beginning he didn't notice the problem. A local Honda dealer checked for the problem in the early period, but said they didn't feel the problem. It seemed to get worse over time. No warning lamps, messages have ever appeared. My service center says the problem is not in the bearing, but probably in the electronics.

Steering becomes sticky after the vehicle is warmed up. Traveling at highway speed ( 60 mph and above ) becomes challenging trying to correct for lane adjustments. The steering wheel feels or has a tighten spot from center both right or left directions. This causes an over correction while driving. Also there is a clicking sound when going though the sticky spot moving the wheel right or left. This vehicle has 30k plus. I purchased a 2018 Civic that is showing severe paint failure around the mirrors and doors of the vehicle. This is an extremely common manufacturing defect that is documented through formal cases opened with Honda, consumer reports, news reports, and dealership inquiries. Severely flaking paint can cause blind spots and vision problems due to sun reactions to exposed metal, driving distractions as paint chips fly off vehicle, environmental pollution, and damage to critical components through rust and water damage.

Air conditioning not blowing cold air. Took vehicle to Honda dealer. I was told that A/C will need to be recharged with Freon and dye, the cost is $299.95 Once recharged, the A/C will need to be re inspected for further leaks in the A/C system. The A/C compressor seal shaft and the A/C condenser, these two parts, the warranty has been extended by Honda. The A/C evaporator is not covered by Honda warranty. It is a well documented fact that Honda’s A/C systems on the 2018 Civic has defective components. It appears that the R1234yf refrigerant used in these systems is deteriorating the A/C components. Honda has responded to this situation by extending the warranty on the condenser and compressor seal shaft to 10 years from date of purchase. However, to date they have refused to extend the warranty on the evaporator and other components of the system. Typically, evaporator last the lifetime of a vehicle, or at least 10 to 15 years. It is unfair for Honda to charge $299.95 to inspect a system that is known to be faulty, and to saddle the customer with another $2200.00 if the evaporator is found to be leaking. The entire A/C system should be covered by the 10 year extended warranty. Because if the system is functioning as it should, there would be no leaks, and therefore no need to recharge with Freon and dye.

Is there a service bulletin for our 2018 Civic Si for sticky steering? The longer we drive, the worse the sticky spot gets. It takes enough manual force to overcome that it overcorrects when it breaks loose. Leads to a lot of heavy handed weaving when I intend to be going straight and effortless for hundreds of miles. Recurs frequently on every long trip but seems worse in summertime. Happens at all speeds. Started around 50,000 miles and has continued to the present 133,000 miles. I worked in the aerospace industry for many years, and we had a common problem that may be relevant. Electric motors in a DC system, require a capacitive circuit to build up energy to start motor movement. Liquid filled capacitors are inherently cheaper, but they dry out over time and use which leads to failure of the capacitor and degraded motor performance (especially start up delays). Higher grade capacitors for the electric motor may have been overlooked, but may be the solution to the problem.

Vehicle steering wheel sticks. I have taken to the 3 different dealerships dating back to approx. summer of 2019 for this issues. They have completed a wheel alignment to correct but it does not correct the issue. This month I researched this type of problem and found many complaints. I returned to the dealership and insisted on a thorough evaluation. They have recommended a full steering replacement for approx. $4000. They do not acknowledge the extensive complaints and that I have a recorded manufacturer issue dating back to 2019. Because is is my daughters car I am forced to complete the repairs for her safety. Safety hazard for vehicles in the State of Florida. Honda Civic 2016-2018 models defective/failing AC system. Common failing Components include Condenser, Compressor and Evaporator. I paid for a new car and within the first few years of purchase the ac went out due to Honda’s faulty equipment. Per Dealer recommendation replacing evaporator with expansion valve. $2200 to repair. This is a safety concern and hazard in the State of Florida. Health reasons include being exposed to Floridas heat for long periods of time. And with Florida’s unpredictable weather conditions and rainfall, when it rains all windows including windshield fogs up which creates the inability to see which effects the driver and surrounding motorists. Honda has acknowledged the issue but only extended its warranty on the Condenser and Compressor. Not the evaporator. Which SpaceCoast Honda has stated they see more commonly the evaporator failing above all else.

The car which has 46K miles on it started is now have steering issues. The symptoms are that when driving, especially at highway speeds, there is a 'sticking' point in the wheel. The sticking point tends to be when the car is moving straight down a road. When doing even moderate steering corrections on the highway, the 'sticking' takes extra force from the driver to move the wheel. Once you do apply force, there is generally a slight overcorrection that will occur as the force needed to move the wheel exceeds what is generally needed for the correction. As a result of the 'sticking', you must constantly battle the car and correct the steering in order to drive it. Upon my visit to Honda dealer I was told, after a very quick inspection (5 minutes), that the Rack was bad and with parts and labor, the cost to install the new Rack would exceed $4K. I understand that the bad rack could cause the steering to lock. Outside of Honda and mechanics I have spoken with, I have not had other independent verifications of the vehicle. There are no warning lights on the car stating this issue.

I am writing to bring to your attention a serious safety concern related to the steering system of my 2018 Honda Civic. I believe there is a significant defect in the vehicle's steering rack, resulting in hazardous driving conditions that could potentially lead to accidents and injuries. Description of the Incident: While turning the steering wheel in either direction, regardless of the speed, the steering rack becomes "sticky" and unresponsive. This issue forces the driver to exert additional force to correct the steering, leading to a sudden overcorrection once the resistance is overcome. The erratic behavior of the steering rack has put me in numerous situations where I narrowly avoided accidents. Impact and Concern: The erratic steering behavior has caused a severe safety hazard. The sudden overcorrection of the steering rack greatly compromises the stability and control of the vehicle, making it extremely difficult to maintain a steady course during turns. This defect creates an unpredictable driving experience that is highly dangerous not only for the driver but also for passengers and other road users. Attempts to Resolve the Issue: I have made an attempt to address this issue by taking my vehicle to authorized Honda dealerships. What is particularly concerning is that the dealerships have been unresponsive to admitting that this is a safety issue. Also, unsure if it has anything to do with it, it has caused a problem with my first cylinder and is reading that the fuel system is too rich.
