2019 Honda CB300R

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2025 CB300R motorcycles. The headlights may flicker or shut off while driving.

Risk. Loss of headlight illumination can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the headlight assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 27, 2025. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KS0.

Defect. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 CB300R, 2018 CBR300R, 2018 CRF250L, 2018 CRF250L Rally, and 2018-2019 CMX300 motorcycles. The circlip, on the transmission's main shaft, may detach allowing for gear misalignment.

Risk. A misaligned gear can shift the transmission from neutral into gear during engine start, potentially resulting in unexpected motorcycle movement or seize the transmission and rear wheel while the motorcycle is in motion. Both conditions increase the risk of crash or injury.

Remedy. Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transmission main shaft, free of charge. The recall began July 8, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KK3.

I am submitting a complaint regarding a 2019 Honda CB300R with approximately 1,225 miles. This vehicle is subject to an open recall (NHTSA Recall 19V-412) involving a transmission mainshaft circlip that can detach and cause gear misalignment and shifting issues. Prior to service, the motorcycle exhibited a symptom where it would not shift or operate properly beyond 4th gear. The motorcycle was brought to a Honda dealership for recall service. During inspection, the dealer disassembled the engine and identified internal engine damage, including cylinder scoring and compression loss. The dealer attributed the cause to carbon buildup from old fuel and did not clearly establish whether the transmission issue described in the recall was evaluated as the root cause of the shifting limitation. Given that the recall specifically identifies shifting issues as a symptom of the defect, I am concerned that the original transmission-related issue may not have been properly diagnosed or addressed before recommending extensive engine repairs. I am submitting this complaint to document a potential issue involving recall-related symptoms not being properly evaluated or resolved.

I WAS RIDING THRU A TURN ON MY 2019 HONDA CB300R AND WHEN I STARTED TO ACCELERATE OUT OF IT IN 2ND GEAR IT POPPED OUT OF SECOND AND DOWN INTO NEUTRAL CAUSING ME TO LOSE TRACTION AND FALL ONTO MY LEFT SIDE. LUCKILY I WALKED AWAY WITH ONLY SOME ROAD RASH. I HAD THE RECALL DONE, BUT SOMETHING IS STILL OFF IN THE TRANSMISSION. A FEW DAYS PRIOR THIS HAD HAPPENED TO ME BUT I WAS RIDING STRAIGHT AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE MOTORCYCLE BACK INTO THE CORRECT GEAR AFTER IT DOWNSHIFTED ON ITS OWN. LAST NIGHT HOWEVER IT HAPPENED IN A TURN, SUPER SCARY NOT SAFE.
