2023 Genesis GV70

Defect. Hyundai Motor America (Genesis) is recalling certain Genesis 2022-2026 GV70, 2023-2025 G90, 2021-2025 G80, and GV80 vehicles. Fuel may leak at the pipe connection between the fuel pipe and fuel rail.

Risk. A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and tighten, or replace the fuel pipe as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning July 20, 2026. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Genesis' number for this recall is 033G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 11, 2026.

Defect. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, GV80, G80, and G90 vehicles. The fuel pump may fail, which can result in a loss of drive power.

Risk. A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 7, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 022G. This recall is an expansion of recall number 23V-630.

Defect. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Genesis GV80, 2021-2023 Genesis G80, 2022-2023 Genesis GV70, and 2023 Genesis GV60 vehicles. In the event of a crash, the front driver-side and/or passenger-side seat belt pretensioners may explode upon deployment.

Risk. An exploding seat belt pretensioner can project metal fragments into the vehicle, strike vehicle occupants, and result in injury.

Remedy. Dealers will secure the seat belt pretensioners with a cap, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2023. For GV60 owners, Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed April 14, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 012G. This recall supersedes and expands recall number 21V-796. Vehicles previously repaired under recall 21V-796 will need to have the new remedy completed.

The contact serviced a 2023 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that the RSPA (Remote Smart Parking Assist) feature was used to remotely move the vehicle from the parking space and the vehicle was turned off. However, moments later the vehicle was restarted and shifted into reverse(R) and the vehicle unintendedly accelerated and crashed into another parked vehicle. The contact stated that during the failure the vehicle was driving approximately 20 MPH. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop or decelerate. The gear selector and START/STOP button were pressed but was inoperable. The failure mileage was 27,000.

There is an intermittent malfunction on startup. A warning alarm and large graphic saying, "check tire pressure monitoring system." The vehicle has a full bumper-to-bumper warranty from the manufacturer. I have documented the problem through multiple videos and pictures, but since the diagnostic codes show everything is fine, the dealer is refusing to do anything at all. I don't feel safe driving a car that has random alarm warnings regarding tire pressure.

The vehicle experienced difficulty starting, followed by the engine nearly stalling. Immediately afterward, diagnostic trouble code P0087F0 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low) was triggered and stored as an open code. This indicates the fuel rail/system pressure dropped below the level needed for normal engine operation, meaning the engine was not receiving adequate fuel. The failed component appears to be the fuel delivery/fuel pressure system (fuel pump or fuel rail). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety may be put at risk because the engine nearly stalled while driving, which could cause a sudden loss of power in traffic, while merging, or at highway speed. The problem has not yet been confirmed by a dealer; I have an appointment scheduled but the earliest availability was approximately one month out given the severity of the symptom. There were no prior warning lamps or messages before this incident. The trouble code and symptoms (hard starting, near-stall) appeared together for the first time on the date of this incident. I am also aware that other 2022-2023 Genesis GV70 owners have reported this identical P0087F0 code with matching symptoms in connection with known fuel pump/fuel line defects (NHTSA recalls 24V-282 and a more recent 2026 fuel line recall). I checked NHTSA's VIN lookup tool and my vehicle does not currently show as included in either recall population, despite the matching symptoms.

I had noticed my GV70 had not been functioning correctly for about 3 weeks prior to scheduled maintenance due. The vehicle has become slow and sluggish accelerating. Was concerning as I had pulled out in traffic not expecting limited acceleration. NO check engine or warning signs displayed. I traveled from Midland, TX to Genesis of Grapevine for scheduled maintenance to be performed. Later that day was informed that my radiator had been crack. Due to road debris and my extended warranty would not cover it most likely. Of course road damage would have had caused this as my expensive vehicle has never been off road. After researching Genesis Forum I have learned that this is a structural defect that has been corrected on later models. So Genesis has obviously taken corrective measures to prevent this from happening on newer year models. This is something that should have been corrected with a recall. Now it is being deemed as road damage. Please look into this.

The headlight assemblies, both headlights, (headlamp housing) failed due to structural factory stress fracturing. The polycarbonate outer lens has developed clean, horizontal hairline cracks originating directly from the sealed lower edge where the housing meets the internal bumper brackets. This structural failure has breached the factory seal, causing severe water pooling inside the light assembly. Yes, the vehicle and the failing component are available for inspection upon request. The severe water accumulation inside the headlamp assembly poses an immediate night-driving safety hazard. Moisture intrusion directly exposes critical electrical connections and LED components to pooling water, risking a sudden, catastrophic short-circuit and total headlight failure while driving at night. This would instantly compromise forward visibility and reduce the vehicle's visibility to oncoming traffic. Yes. The physical water accumulation and the structural hairline cracks were confirmed during a physical inspection at an authorized Genesis dealership service center. While driving on the expressway during rush-hour traffic, multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard and several error messages appeared. At the same time, the vehicle began repeatedly jerking while I was traveling at low speed in heavy traffic. I continued driving for approximately 10 seconds, but the jerking continued. Because of the unusual vehicle behavior and the warning messages, I pulled over to the side of the road. After stopping, I attempted to shift the transmission into Park, but the vehicle would not allow me to change the gear. I turned the engine off and restarted the vehicle, but I was still unable to shift the vehicle into Drive. I attempted this three times. On the third attempt, the vehicle finally allowed me to shift into Drive, but the check engine light remained illuminated. I subsequently took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. The dealership stated that they updated the vehicle's software and reset the error codes. I am reporting this incident because the vehicle unexpectedly began jerking in heavy traffic, displayed multiple warning/error messages, and temporarily prevented me from changing the transmission gear. The inability to shift the vehicle normally and the sudden jerking created a potentially dangerous situation while driving on the expressway.

My AC in my 2023 GV 70 stopped working. Apparently this is a known defect but I was never notified. Im currently in NC, 3 hours from my home in [XXX] where the heat index is 110 degrees. Now i have to drive home to get service without AC. I reached out to the dealer four times today including the service manager, service coordinator and Anthony the GM but no one has returned my call. I called Genesis customer service and their response was “sorry no appointments until late next week and we have no loaners until late September”. Clearly, no one at Genesis at the dealer level or corporate cares enough to help me solve this problem so I am forced to find an independent mechanic who can work on my vehicle and rent my own car until it’s repaired. This is completely unacceptable especially for a luxury vehicle. First, not being notified of a problem Genesis has known about for a long time so i could repair it before it’s become a calamity (where i am now). Second, no one cares enough to help me solve their defective parts problem! I expect Genesis to pay for both the repairs and my rental plus any additional out of pocket expenses. Apologies for the error. Please associate this with XXX. CORRECTIONS: Vehicles towed - YES, TWO, not "No"; my Genesis is still at the dealer it was towed to in [XXX]. Injured - THREE, not 1. Police report - YES, not "No". Mileage about 23,500. Speed at T0 per the EDR - 23 km/h, about 14 mph. OMITTED AND MATERIAL: Before this crash the vehicle STARTED ITSELF TWICE WITH NO HUMAN COMMAND - no key press, no remote start, nobody in it. Separately the entire system went completely black, causing TOTAL ECU AND ECM FAILURE. The vehicle lost electrical integrity. WHY THAT MATTERS: Genesis Service Campaign 914G is "ECM Update - P030X Misfire"; its remedy is "Update the ECM (Engine Control Module) software." It covers 2022-2023MY GV70 (JK1) built 3/29/2021-3/4/2025, VIN starting KMU. My VIN is [XXX], a 2023 GV70. Owner notice was due September 2025. The campaign was still open and unremedied when the car crashed 12/3/2025. While exiting a highway at normal speed and with no impact, collision, or obstacle of any kind, the airbags in this 2023 Genesis GV70 deployed spontaneously. The unexpected deployment caused me to lose control of the vehicle, and a three-car collision followed. I sustained a head injury and aggravation of a pre-existing traumatic brain injury; I remain under medical care. There was no crash before the deployment - the deployment caused the crash. No warning lamps, messages, or symptoms appeared before the failure. The vehicle was reported to the manufacturer, which opened a claim and later closed it without repair or explanation; a second manufacturer case review is open. I have demanded preservation of all vehicle data, including event data recorder and telematics records, and independent inspection was arranged. The vehicle and the airbag control unit remain available for inspection on request. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer, and to my knowledge no dealer diagnostic has been performed on the airbag control module.

Left front headlight accumulates significant amount of water that worsens with rain events. Places water in proximity with LED lamps and wiring creating risk of electrical shorts and lamp failure. This is known issue addressed by a Genesis TSB, but no recall has been initiated despite safety concerns,

Excessive amount of moisture inside my headlight. Affects how bright my headlight is at night and is now prone to failure. Dealership has documentation of the issue and is making it very difficult to replace.

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while driving approximately 80 MPH on a toll road, the vehicle suddenly stalled and stopped on the on-ramp. The contact pressed the accelerator pedal and the drove forward and operated as normal. The cause of the temperary failure was not yet determined. The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV70 equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: Primacy Tour, Tire Size: 255/40/R21, DOT Number: (N/A). While driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle started violently swerving from right to left, nearly causing a crash into a concrete median. The driver was able to regain control of the vehicle and safely drove to the residence. A tow truck driver was called to the residence and discovered that the rear driver’s side tire had extensive tread separation. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who determined that the rear driver’s side strut, brake line, fuel filler neck, inner fender, parking brake wiring harness, and rear driver’s side brake line were damaged during the failure and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,900.

My car exhibited a random loss of power which led to dangerous driving conditions. At times, when I wanted to accelerate to pass a vehicle on a two lane highway, I would enter the left lane to pass a vehicle and had zero acceleration which left me in a vulnerable position relative to oncoming traffic. Other times, the vehicle would not accelerate from a stop, rev to high RPMs and not shift out of 3rd gear without manual intervention. Another time, I was accelerating to make a lane change and the vehicle lagged, nearly causing a rear end collision by the vehicle behind me. There were no warning indications whatsoever on the dash, but I my OBD-II code reader indicated "P26CB00". When I researched this, I took my car into the dealer. The were able to replicate the problem and informed me that my vehicle had a punctured intercooler radiator which was caused by a road hazard and therefore would not be covered under warranty. After my inspection, I noticed a design flaw in the lower portion of the grill which allowed objects to impact the lower radiator without any protection whatsoever. Apparently, this leak caused my car's turbo system to not engage which is why there was a random loss of power. The repair of the radiator and water pump (which they said had failed because it ran dry) was over $2500. The forward collision warning comes on and the car completely stops. We are traveling and it happened twice on busy hwy. We were not hit but came perilously close both times. We took our car in for service and asked that they disconnect this because we have had the problem before. They said they did. It has find for about 2 months and now is starting again even though it’s supposedly disconnected. There is no warning before this happens.

I was driving down highway, no cars nearby. Heard a loud pop. Found a crack in the lower left portion of the windshield. No chip or rough spot outside or inside of window.

The windshield cracks and chips very easily. Long crack lines develop after windshield obtains a small chip from a small rock. This is the third windshield replacement in a year’s time. The interior door panel material on both front doors is peeling and delaminating under normal use. Driving the car on 2 separate occasions in last 3 weeks when car suddenly stopped when driving and vehicle forward collision warning-braking light went on and car stopped in middle of the road and could not drive forward .The first time it lasted several minutes and then I was able to drive. Notified dealer and told it would be doubtful it could be duplicated and wash the car. The second occasion we were in the interstate highway when it suddenly stopped and forward vehicle collision warning-braking light came on.This was extremely dangerous situation being in middle lane of interstate and inching over to shoulder only with help from a car in right lane . Could not drive 3-5 feet and car would stop. Had to work way to shoulder of highway from middle lane. Called dealer for help and no return call. Went into driver's Manuel and disabled the forward collision warning system. (later told I would need to do this every time I drove)--- Dealer then evaluated and said a rock " may have hit the radar thru the grill and bent it". ( yet there was no signs of damage on grill or elsewhere)--asked to have it covered on warranty and denied , later being told that there was signs of " stress crack in lower front bumper that may have caused this. Overall unacceptable explanation and it appears to be happening to other GV70's when looking on social medial .. Was told it would cost about $2,500 to replace and not covered in warranty . On two separate occasions over a 6 month span the emergency braking system engaged while entering an underground parking garage. There were no vehicles in front or behind. The vehicle immediately engaged the brakes forced the vehicle to stop. Fortunately there were no injuries. I have opened a case with the manufacturer. I have read on blogs that others have experienced similar ghost braking issues. In their case the manufacturer and service technician claimed since nothing was recorded by the vehicle, there was nothing to be done. It is unacceptable for there to be no record of the emergency braking system engaging. Out is a core life safety protection. This issue should be investigated by the NHTSA to force the company to reevaluate the safety of their products.

Airbags did not deploy, vehicle was declared a total loss.

Large crack in windshield and also the side lite window without any impact from stone or road

While driving on [XXX] from Houston to the San Antonio area, I heard a loud pop and a crack appeared on my top drivers side windshield. I was not behind any trucks or close behind any cars as traffic was light. There was no lose gravel and I did not hear or see a rock or other incoming object. The crack immediately spread to more than 6 inches, and over 12 inches by the time I arrived at my destination. There was/is no small starburst from which the crack spread as is usual when rock or pebble hits a windshield. It appears as if the windshield just split. I have gone online and found many similar complaints for this model car, some having to replace windshields multiple times over a short period, both with OEM and after market windshields, with the dealership replacements and third parties like Safelite. The braking system of my 2023 Genesis GV70 has exhibited recurring failures, specifically the brake pedal and the ABS module. Since February 2025, the vehicle had ongoing brake pedal issues that required approximately 30 days of repair, during which the ABS module was replaced on April 24, 2025. The vehicle remains available for inspection in its current “as-is” condition as per manufacturer instructions until the Event Data Recorder (EDR) data is retrieved. On May 4, 2025—just 10 days after the ABS module replacement—the vehicle was involved in an accident. The unresolved braking issues likely contributed to the crash, directly endangering driver safety and that of others on the road. The dealer addressed the brake pedal and ABS issues during repairs, but no definitive resolution or independent confirmation has been made regarding the root cause. The problem persists as a potential safety hazard. The vehicle has been inspected by Progressive Insurance representatives. Initially, Genesis verbally approved my insurer’s certified third-party expert to retrieve the EDR data. However, Genesis reversed this approval and now insists that only their internal vendor may access the data, which could take 6–8 weeks—delaying independent investigation and resolution. This restrictive approach obstructs transparency and raises concerns about the integrity of the investigation. Genesis uses soy-based wiring in the engine without any rodent protection. We had rats chewing the wires in the engine last year in April, for $6.9k repair cost and again this year in February for $7.4k in repair cost. This car cost way too much to own, the repairs take about 5 to 6 weeks to complete, and most importantly this cat is a major safety concern to me and my family.

Several times now, my Genesis GV70 will make a strange sound on startup. The auto stop light will illuminate and I can't turn it off. The car will have no power to accelerate. I have to turn the car off and back on again for the problem to resolve.

I purchased this vehicle brand new in July 2023. By Jan 2024, it was already having major issues. The 2 major issues with this vehicle are 1) it had an engine misfire ( thus engine and fuel system issues) that cut the power to the vehicle and made it dangerous to drive and thus had to be in at the Genesis dealer service center 3 times (Jan, April and May 2024). The 2nd problem is electrical. On Oct 1st, 2024 the brake lights wouldn't turn off at all despite several troubleshooting attempts. That electrical problem drained the battery and after the car was jump started, after I started to drive, then the car cold died in the middle of the road. I had my 10 day old newborn in the car and I had to get out and stop cars that were driving towards me. Attached is the repair invoice for the engine misfire earlier this year and the car is currently at the repair facility for the electrical problem so no invoice has been generated yet.

The adaptive cruise control started pacing off vehicles in the right lane instead straight ahead. Then the vehicle's forward collision emergency brake system started engaging with no vehicles infront causing the vehicle to panic stop on its own for no reason. This panic stop could cause an accident, personal injury or death.

I had just started the car and driven less than half a mile in a 35 MPH zone when the acceleration gave out. Vehicle would not go over 20 MPH, engine did not rev up when gas pedal depressed. I came to red light and stopped, turned off the car and turned it back on and issue seemed to clear. I google and have learned this model and year are being recalled for this issue and fuel pumps replaced, but my VIN does not show up as under the recall. I'm now afraid to drive my car.

The dealer informed the contact that the failure was caused by a rock that was able to pass through the front grill because the front grill holes were large. I was sitting at a stop light waiting to make a right turn. When I pressed down on the accelerator the car just inched forward. I let off the gas and pushed the accelerator again and again before the car would accelerate. This has happened several times, once almost causing me to wreck. This has happened since the first month I purchased the vehicle. I have had it for a year

[XXX] At approximately [XXX] pm, while driving to Dallas, Texas, the car bucked numerous times while attempting to pass another car at approximately 65 mph. The GV70 then started to deaccelerate. The speed dropped to around 50 mph. I continued to press the accelerator, but the car would not accelerate but the engine was revving (RPM hit around 5000) and then dropped back down. I continued driving with the speed varying between 45 and 55 mph even with the accelerator floored. As I got closer to Dallas, I could get the speed up to 60 - 65 mph with the accelerator floored but then on any incline, the speed would drop back to 45 - 50 mph. I had to turn the hazards on several times as the speed was well below the other vehicles. There were no warning lights. I was able to get the GV70 into a dealer the next morning who kept the car for 2 days. They ran diagnostics and drove the GV70 but could not replicate the problem nor did the diagnostics sow anything. They thought that maybe the car reset when it was turned off. Was driving on the highway at 70 mph. Oil light came on, noticed it without any loss of power. Within the next mile the cars rpms started to increase very quickly with little pressure being applied to accelerator and power loss started to begin. As I tried to get over and get to the next exit the car completely shut off in the middle of the road with little to no warning or time to react. Very dangerous. Thankfully was still able to steer and brake. I called help and had the state trooper blocking me on the road until the tow truck arrived. Massive puddle of oil & fluid on the ground under car.

I purchased a new 2023 Genesis GV70 on [XXX] from the Genesis Janesville dealership. Within 3 months of driving the car, and less than 5,000 miles on the car, the breaks started to squeak. After approximately 8,000 miles, the all audio in the car malfunctioned and has not worked properly since. Additionally, I was driving on the interstate and the E brake engaged automatically (without engaging myself) and the car immediately deaccelerated from 75 miles to 35 miles within 3 seconds. Fortunately, it was early in the morning and there was no traffic, but if there was, it would certainly be life threatening. I immediately scheduled an appointment with Genesis dealership after the incident in Waukesha and dropped it off with their service team on [XXX]. The service manager (Derek) called me after dropping the vehicle off and noted that the emergency brake also malfunctioned when he was taking the car to the technicians. The service team indicated on [XXX] that they still have not found a solution to the audio issue. They also said they simply reset the car and after a 25 mile test drive the emergency brake did not go off and therefore the car should be safe to drive. Given the car has less than 10,000 miles and is already experiencing several issues, I strongly caution anyone from buying this vehicle. We were driving up a mountain pass in a great deal of stop and go traffic. The engine died and a check engine light came on. It was difficult to get the engine started, but it did start. We called the genesis service line and they said that it was a warning and ok to drive but to take it into be looked at. We proceeded up the mountain pass slowly, but when we were out of traffic and needed to give the engine gas to accelerate up the hills, the engine would not speed up. We were driving on interstates where we could only go 25 mph up the hill when others were speeding by us driving 60+ mph so we had to drive with our hazards in the right lane and hope not to get hit. When going down the hills, the engine would speed up, but any hills meant the speed would decrease even when you were engaging the gas. According the warnings we receive via Genesis in my app, the problem was Diagnostic code P0087F0 and said it was powertrain and the subsystem was EMS. We took the vehicle into the dealer and they were unable to recreate the problem. They reset the computer to the manufacturer reset. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This should not be happening on a 2023 car with 5000 miles on it.

I purchased this vehicle on February 27, 2023 from Genesis Johnson of Cary. When driving the vehicle away from the dealership (less than 200 miles) between 2/27/23 and 3/4/23, I started smelling a foul odor that smelled like fumes, burning, stale water. I contacted the dealership regarding these issues. I purchased an extended warranty. I was told that they could not help me. I read my contract that stated I could take the vehicle to any authorized dealership. During the time I drove the vehicle, there was massive amounts of rain. I told my sales person (Jim) that I thought something was terrible wrong. I am a person with multiple disabilities and am diagnosed with De quervain's disease, peripheral neuropathy, costochondritis, anemia, asthma, chronic rhinitis, PTSD, OCD, anxiety, depression and ganglion cysts. I requested an accommodation regarding sterilizing/ replacing the cabin filters. The dealership refused. To date, I do not know where the vehicle is located. The owner of the dealership where I purchased it (Carl Johnson) was notified. He harassed / retaliated while I was being medically treated in Louisiana, North Carolina, Florida and Georgia. To date, they still have my down payment, and have taken the vehicle and will not tell me where it is. Their attorney, Lee C. Hodge, also bullied / harassed /retaliated against me and threatened me with fees. Genesis Johnson of Cary refuses to refund my down payment of over six thousand dollars. My medical bills are substantial.

While crossing through an intersection, the vehicle began to shutter and would not accelerate. I had just enough power to turn into a store parking lot where the vehicle lost all power, illuminated the battery warning light, and would not restart. After 30-45 minutes, the vehicle was able to start again using a jump box. I began a test drive around the parking lot and the vehicle shuttered again and lost all power while in the middle of the parking lot. At no point were we able to start the vehicle again however the battery continued to power the lights. Vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer. Prior to this there were a few instances where the vehicle either failed to start or failed to turn off after first pressing the Start/Stop button but I dismissed those as outliers since it would start up at the next activation. My vehicle lost power in the middle of a non-busy intersection and a quiet parking lot however this could've happened on a highway. Problem was confirmed by the nearby dealership Vehicle component has only been inspected by dealer No prior warning lights or messages other than what was mentioned.

No warning lights when there was a crack in the lower radiator causing loss of all coolant. Went into limp mode with no warning lights on the dash. Caused a near rear ender when in limp mode unbeknownst to driver.

Engine, transmission/propulsion and or fuel system is impacted. Vehicle loses power and pressing the throttle doesn’t increase the engine rpms and or vehicle speed. It happens randomly at both city and highway driving speeds. It’s almost like the gears aren’t shifting or the vehicle doesn’t increase the speed. Sometimes a it would work fine after a key cycle. I’ve had a few instances of it and there’s no check engine light. I took a video of it from last night when it happened. It’s a big safety risk trying to pass other cars. On the freeway when it happens the vehicle doesn’t cross 60mph hour. It’s very delayed, and then if I cycle the throttle or change gears or downshift manually it’s jump 2000-3000 rpms and would still struggle to get past 80mph. I bought my vehicle in MI, noticed these issues on my current trip to FL. I intend to have a MI dealer diagnose it. Seems difficult without a check engine light or DTC.

Experienced acceleration problem with my brand new Genesis GV70, only 7 mos. old. I backed car out of garage and onto my street, put car in "drive" and pressed down on gas to move forward, but car would not accelerate. This was only for a split second, and then it started to accelerate. It was strange, though, and had never happened before. I continued on my route and as I was entering an onramp to get on freeway, car would not accelerate again. Car maintained 20mph speed but would not go any faster as I pushed down on the gas peddle. I was able to pull off to side of the ramp. I turned engine off and restarted car, tried to move forward again, but again would not accelerate. Turned car off again, restarted, and this time, I was able to accelerate. Very scary to think of this happening if I was already on freeway with cars going 70+mph. I took car to dealership and they checked everything out, and did not find anything wrong with the car. They were not able to replicate the issue. I am now concerned because I was not imagining this happening and it was very scary. I am aware that some prior year Genesis models had problems like this and Genesis/Hyundai have issued recall notices, but not for my 2023 model. It seems to me that there is still an issue with the 2023 models, as I have read of similar cases like mine on several genesis owner forums. I don't know how many people have to report the issue before it is deemed a safety concern. Does someone have to be severely injured

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred while driving 2 hours later. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 9,092.

Transmission failure at 1558 miles. Replacement of transmission assembly is required. Dealership (Manly Genesis of Santa Rosa, CA) has the vehicle. No confirmation date of when parts and work will be completed.

I purchased the vehicle on March 30, 2023, & my Check engine light has been on eleven times since June 2023. I was involved in a car accident on August 25, 2023, where the car appeared to have no gas. However, gas was in the vehicle, and the brakes were not operating correctly as I had to continue pumping the brakes to stop the vehicle. Furthermore, there is over $15k in damages and counting. I have been placed off work due to the injuries sustained in the vehicle accident due to the negligence of the manufacturer & dealer. I have left several messages for my Case Manager, [XXX] for several days, with unsuccessful attempts. [XXX] finally contacted me on 8/30/2023 @ 3:08 pm, apologizing for Genesis not living up to the “white glove” expectation advertised, and then she asked me what she could do for me. The call with [XXX] lasted 7-8 minutes. However, I constantly repeated myself, informing her of the information I stated in this email regarding my check engine light; my vehicle was serviced on Friday, June 30, 2023 (See Service History Below). Since then, the check engine light has illuminated nine other times with some of the same and or different codes. I had an appt to return my vehicle to the same dealership for the second time since June, as the dealership had the car for approximately eight/nine days. On August 12, 2023, I scheduled an appt. While on trip traveling through Ft. Worth in heavy traffic my GV70 stopped responding to accelerator. As I was trying to get out of traffic and to side of road vehicle began to lurch and jerk forward spasmodically. I then noticed the car had gone into neutral on its own. While waiting for help the car would turn off. Sometimes would come back on. Vehicle was towed to dealership where it is waiting diagnostics. Could have been a deadly event.

I called the Genesis dealer on 7/20/23 as my car had 3 random incidents where the accelerator failed to respond as I came out of a turn at about 20 mph. After my appointment was set, that evening the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road with no warning. Had to restart car. This was a scare and dangerous situation. Car taken to dealer 7/21/23 for repair. I was told the water pump and sensor were replaced on a 11 month old car. I received my car back from the Genesis dealer on 7/26/23 and two days later, Friday, 7/28/23, the problem continued. While turning into the median to merge into traffic, I pressed the accelerator and the gas pedal stopped responding as the vehicle rapidly slowed down to stop in the road. Pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate the car did not help any as I felt like I was pumping air. I had to put on my hazard lights, move back into the median, and put the car in park. No warning lights on the car came on. I drove the car home (less than 2 miles) with the hazards lights on and called roadside to tow the car back to the dealership. it is very concerning to me that my GV70 continues to have a malfunction with slowing down or stopping without responding to the acceleration pedal. This puts me and my family’s safety at risk and is dangerous given than the car randomly and abruptly stops or slows down rapidly while I’m driving in traffic.
