A/C compressor not coming on when cabin A/C does. This means it is also not coming on to cool the battery, which could prevent proper battery thermal management, raising safety and performance risks in hot climates. A/C compressor and inverter have been replaced without resolving the issue. It has been to two dealerships that independently diagnosed the problem as the A/C compressor. The car is currently at Allen Turner Genesis in Pensacola, FL so it should be available for inspection. There were no warning lamps illuminated.

This complaint is in regards to Safety Recall 272 Component Failure and Vehicle Disabling / SOS System Failure On [XXX], at approximately [XXX] PM, I was driving my Genesis vehicle during rush hour when I heard a loud popping sound. Immediately following the sound, the dashboard displayed a critical warning light stating: "Electrical Charging System Fault — Check Electrical System." Because I was actively driving in heavy rush-hour traffic, this sudden loss of charging system functionality posed an immediate safety hazard. I pressed the in-vehicle "SOS" button to contact Genesis emergency services. The operator, who identified himself as "Eddie," refused to dispatch a tow truck to assist me. Instead, he offered to read a phone number aloud for me to write down. I explained that I was actively operating a malfunctioning vehicle in heavy traffic and could not safely write down information, but he still refused to call for emergency towing. I managed to safely limp the vehicle back to my residence and subsequently arranged for the local dealership, Genesis of Las Vegas, to tow the vehicle. On Friday, June 5, 2026, the dealership confirmed that the vehicle had suffered a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which also destroyed the 12V battery. They informed me that this failure was directly tied to NHTSA Safety Recall 272 (Integrated Charging Control Unit). While the dealership performed the ICCU remedy, they are currently refusing to release my vehicle unless

Related Recall: 24-01-023G DTC P1A9096 CHECK FOR ICCU & FUSE REPLACEMENT & ICCU SOFTWARE UPDATE (RECALL 021G) On August 8, 2025 I was vacationing and attempted to charge the vehicle at a hotel's level 2 destination charger (32 amp) but the vehicle refused to charge. I then drove 20 minutes away to DC Fast Charge and it worked, and tried level 2 charging again, it still did not work. I ruled out that the level 2 charging station was the problem due to seeing someone else successfully charging from that station. When I returned home, I found that my home charger also stopped charging at 32 amps (though slower 16 amps still worked). On December 14, 2025 I was driving on the highway when I heard a loud pop noise and the vehicle immediately lost propulsion, resulting in a dangerous situation where the car needed to limp at low speeds to the side of the road. There, the car fully lost all mobility and needed to be towed to a Genesis dealership. They diagnosed the problem as a faulty ICCU, and replaced it as well as installed new software to prevent this situation from reoccurring. In May 29, 2026 the vehicle once again no longer charges at 32 amps at home. The charging would initiate and last a few minutes before fully disengaging and the car reports "Charger Not Connected". Since this is a repeat of the same ICCU failure (above), and I DO NOT wish to lose vehicle propulsion on the highway like before, I have stopped driving the vehicle until it can be diagnosed and fixed by Genesi

2023 Genesis GV60 has a recurring pre-active seat belt system malfunction. The seat belt pre-tensioner activates without cause, tightening the seat belt unexpectedly while driving. This defect has occurred multiple times and has been documented across three separate dealer repair visits. Visit 1 (05/30/2025, 7,122 mi): Galpin Genesis Van Nuys - DTC B1A4718 stored, seat belt pre-tensioner malfunction diagnosed. Visit 2 (06/06/2025, 7,179 mi): Genesis Pasadena - Same defect recurred, DTC B1A4718 confirmed again. Visit 3 (06/13/2025, 7,220 mi): Genesis of West Covina - Defect persisted, same DTC confirmed a third time. The defect poses a serious safety risk as unexpected seat belt tightening while driving can startle the driver and cause loss of vehicle control. Genesis has been unable to permanently repair this defect despite three attempts. This vehicle is also subject to related NHTSA recalls 23V-557 and 23V-094 for seat belt issues on GV60 models.
The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on my Genesis GV60 called Highway Driving Assist (HDA) would randomly turn off without warning ever since I purchased the vehicle. I use it pretty much daily for my commute to work (but have to watch closely since it turns off often without warning) and the system would randomly turn off a least a few times a day so I would need to take over quickly. Yesterday when I was driving in the carpool HOV lane in the Los Angeles area where some sections of the freeway have lane markers that are very close to the center divider and the car decided to randomly turn off ADAS without warning which resulted in a car swipe against the center divider and damaged the front bumper as well as a broken side rearview mirror. I did a random search online and found lots of complaints from other Genesis/Hyundai/Kia owners who have similar issues am surprised why nothing has been done about it so I decided to report this. The repair would cost me almost 4 thousand dollars all because of the manufacturer defect that probably could be easily fixed with over the air update. Please investigate to prevent other drivers from getting into a crash for this defective. Thanks.

I purchased a used 2023 Genesis GV60 on [XXX] from a franchised Genesis dealer in New Jersey (Genesis of Wayne, Wayne, NJ). At the time of delivery, the vehicle had an open safety recall with an available remedy and it was not completed prior to sale/delivery. After purchase, Genesis’ official recall/campaign lookup for my VIN showed at least one open safety recall listed as “Incomplete.” The dealer had represented that recalls were addressed, but Genesis’ system continued to show the safety recall as open. Vehicle: 2023 Genesis GV60 VIN: [enter full VIN] Recall/Campaign information shown as open/incomplete: •Campaign/Recall 027G (NHTSA Recall No. 25V474000) – Instrument panel cluster display may go blank (software update). Status shown as incomplete at/after delivery. •[If applicable] Campaign/Recall 028G – [Windshield molding / other campaign], status shown as incomplete at/after delivery. I am submitting this report because the vehicle was delivered to a consumer with an open safety recall that had an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s own system indicated the recall remained incomplete. I can provide supporting documentation upon request (Genesis recall lookup screenshots showing “Incomplete,” dealer sale paperwork, and communications). While driving car, I heard a "pop" sound coming from the back seat, my ICCU had failed and then there was a sudden loss vehicle power and the car went into a limp mode. The car only had 5,650 miles on it. This is a serious safety hazard. The car was towed to the dealership and a new ICCU was installed. The replacement part was the same model number that had failed. I was advised by the service adviser that I could possibly experience another ICCU failure in the future.

In 2023 & 2025, my vehicle had been brought into the Genesis dealership to complete NHTSA 24V868000 safety recall by receiving a new software (Service Campaigns 907G & 025G). However, despite that, on [XXX], the vehicle's ICCU failed while I was traveling at highway speeds. The ICCU is the primary component that the safety recall was supposed to address, yet it failed anyways. The car suddenly and dangerously reduced propulsion on the freeway, and I had to slowly maneuver the car onto the shoulder where the car then completely lost all propulsion entirely. My family and I were in the car, and our safety was at extreme risk since the car lost propulsion without warning on the freeway and other vehicles had to swerve around us. There was the very real possibility that had I not reacted quickly, that we would have been fully immobilized on the freeway, blocking traffic and creating a real safety hazard for other vehicles. There were no warning lights or any indications that the part was going to fail -- it failed immediately, and only after that did multiple warning messages appeared due to systems downstream of the ICCU failing as a result of the ICCU's failure. The dealership (Genesis of Dublin) confirmed that the failure was specific to the ICCU and the vehicle had its ICCU replaced under the 10 year powertrain warranty. I have documentation proving that the problem was caused by the ICCU's failure. In addition, the ICCU's replacement with an identical ICCU simply means this
Vehicle Speed Control
Filed Dec 4, 2025CA
My Genesis EV has experienced multiple incidents where the vehicle suddenly decelerates while driving and limits its speed to approximately 20 mph, creating a significant safety hazard. The first incident occurred in September 2025, when the vehicle unexpectedly began to decelerate on its own and would not exceed ~20 mph. I brought it to the Genesis dealership, but they were unable to reproduce the issue. The second incident occurred in November 2025, with the same failure: sudden deceleration and a maximum speed of ~20 mph. I brought the vehicle back to the dealership. They have kept the car for diagnosis but again report they “cannot reproduce” the problem. The issue remains unresolved, and Genesis has denied my buyback request. This is an intermittent EV drivetrain or power-delivery failure that prevents the vehicle from accelerating normally. If this occurs in traffic, at intersections, or during merging, it could easily lead to a collision. The vehicle is currently still at the dealership because I do not feel safe driving it. Multiple attempts to have the problem repaired have not identified the cause. I am reporting this because sudden loss of acceleration and speed limitation is a major safety issue, and other drivers may experience the same failure.

The chrome trim strip above the windshield flew off while driving. This poses a safety hazard for anyone driving behind a GV60 and unfortunately this issue seems to be very widespread (examples: [XXX] ). Genesis refused to fix the issue for me despite being under warranty, so I suspect they are doing the same for other owners despite the safety risk. The headlights have excessive moisture on the inside. Genesis replaced them once a year ago but now they have moisture on the inside lens so bad that you can't see the LED bulbs. This is a known issue with the GV60 and even though the car is under warranty Genesis will not cover this under warranty, they say it's normal! The moisture is changing the way the headlights light up the road and this moisture issue is a major safety concern. This needs to be fixed, no headlight beam should ever be obstructed by material inside the headlight assembly. I leased a 2023 Genesis GV60, which was misrepresented as new but had multiple safety recalls, including ICCU battery failure, AWD/powertrain malfunction, and seatbelt defects. From the start, the seatbelts didn’t secure properly, and the car failed NY state inspection, causing me to lose a job that required a safe vehicle. Despite six visits to different service centers in 3 months, no actual repairs were completed. Mechanics admitted they didn’t understand the battery defect. The recalls later disappeared from the system without resolution. This is highly unsafe and deceptive. Genesis refused accountability, claiming they don’t control dealership practices—yet they allowed a dealer to fraudulently lease a car with open recalls. They also filed a false insurance claim under my name, inflating my premium and causing me over $33,000 in damages. I visited five other luxury dealers and confirmed that other brands do not allow demo or recall vehicles to be sold this way. Genesis’ refusal to fix or buy back the car and their attempt to cover up recall issues reveals a systemic failure in recall enforcement and corporate responsibility. I urge NHTSA to investigate.

The vehicle's instrument panel, behind steering wheel displaying things like speed and warning signs, periodically goes blank at start up for between 30 seconds and 15 minutes. There are lots of reports of this problem on sites like Redit and Genesis Forum, however, Genesis has not issued a recall for even a service bulletin. This apparently common problem is a safety hazard as the driver does not have access to critical safety information, including the vehicle's speed, for a period of time. Because this problem is periodic, it is often difficult to verify at the dealership as it does not produce fault codes. This leaves consumers in a bind as the problem persists since the dealership and manufacturer will not always address.

I leased a Genesis GV60 in July 2023. The car was under a stop sale order and had to be repaired before it was leased to me because of a known issue with the rear axle. The dealership performed the fix to the vehicle and then proceeded to lease me the vehicle. In January 2025 while driving approximately 40 MPH on a paved flat road, I experienced a sudden thud and loss of power. When I applied pressure to the accelerator a loud angry noise came from the back of the vehicle. Smoke and a burning smell came from the back of the vehicle. There were electrical issues with the car being initial unresponsive to attempts to put the car in park, unlock doors and turn off the vehicle. We left the vehicle on the side of the road. We were in a remote location in a very cold climate with no cell phone signal at dusk. We flagged down a passing-by driver for transport to a safe location where we could call Genesis Emergency Roadside assistance. The car was towed to an authorized Genesis dealership and the rear axle was replaced at no cost to me. Repair staff at the dealership confirmed that based on their inspection there was no indication that the car had experienced any type of impact / injury that could explain the fractured rear axle. In March 2025, again I was driving on a paved flat road going approximately 30 MPH. As I was approaching a stop sign, I again experienced what felt like a sudden thud, and heard a high pitched whine. When I tried to accelerate off the stop sign and cross tr

On 3/5/2025 I was driving my car and accelerating to 45 miles per hour when the Stop vehicle and check power supply warning on my car showed on the dash followed by a loud and starting audible tone. I pulled over to check the car and it still worked well. I then went home and tried to charge the vehicle off of our level 2 charger and the vehicle would not start to charge. I brought the car to the dealer the next day after charging the 12 volt battery overnight. I charged the 12 volt battery because the car was no longer charging it as the charging system was not working. The dealer then diagnosed that the ICCU and main fuse were broken and needed replacement. These were the problem parts that previous NHTSA recalls were issued and completed on this vehicle to address this failure. My car still failed with around 6,750 miles driven. I want to let the NHTSA know that the failures of this critical part are still happening despite the manufacturer's recalls being completed in a timely manner.

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV60. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the front driver’s and passenger's side seat belts failed to lock securely. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was contacted to schedule an appointment. The contact then received a recall letter for an unknown recall repair for the seat belts and the all-wheel drive power train. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact then started to hear an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and scheduled a second appointment. The dealer repaired the driver's side seat belt; however, the failure persisted with the front passenger's seat belt, and the all-wheel drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100.
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
