2014 Forest River Rockwood

Defect. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2014 Rockwood and Flagstaff recreational vehicles manufactured June 26, 2014, to October 9, 2014, and equipped with the Chill Chaser option. In the affected vehicles, excessive foam insulation and/or loose wiring may touch the Chill Chaser heating element.

Risk. If the foam insulation or loose wiring contacts the heating element, there is an increased risk of fire.

Remedy. Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the foam insulation and wiring, making any necessary repair, free of charge. The recall began on March 17, 2015. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-2640. Forest River's number for this recall is SB111014.

Defect. Forest River is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Forest River models Blue Ridge, Cardinal, Cherokee, Columbus, EVO, Georgetown, Flagstaff, Forester, Lexington, Puma, Rockwood, Sabre, Salem, Sandpiper, Sandstorm, Sierra, Stealth, Sunseeker, Wildcat, Wildwood, Work and Play and XLR; Coachmen models Brookstone, Catalina, Chaparral, Concord, Encounter, Freedom Express, Freelander, Leprechaun, Mirada, Pursuit, and Sportcoach; Prime Time models Avenger, Crusader, Lacrosse, Saniber, and Tracer; Palomino model Maverick Truck Camper; Cargo Mate model Eliminator and Shasta models Revere, Phoenix recreational vehicles manufactured from February 13, 2013, through April 18, 2013. Due to a design change in the power awning motor assembly, the motor assembly screws may unknowingly shear.

Risk. If the motor assembly screws shear, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the vehicle is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

Remedy. Forest River will notify owners and Dometic staff will replace the affected motors with motors of a different design. The safety recall began on July 29, 2013. Owners may contact Forest River at 1-574-389-4600 or Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

The tires are hitting the bottom floor if you hit the bumps or pot holes in road and causing the tire to bottom out on the floor of the trailer causing the tires to blow out and wear out prematurely. This was noticed on previous year models…

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PULLING THE RV, SHE NOTICED ALL 4 TIRES HAD HOLES ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAMPER. THE RV WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V554000 (SUSPENSION, TIRES). THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *LN CONSUMER STATES THAT THERE WAS WATER DAMAGE ON THE FLOOR CAUSED BY THE AXLES RUBBING HOLES UNDERNEATH THE CAMPER. CONSUMER SPOKE TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIRMAN WHO SAID THAT VEHICLE NEEDS AXLES THAT SUPPORT A HIGHER WEIGHT LIMIT. *DL

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD CAMPER MODEL 2703WS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CAMPER INPUT PLUG CAUGHT FIRE AND CAUSED THE WIRES TO BURN. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE PLUG HIMSELF AND FOUND THAT THE INPUT PLUG WAS NOT MADE WITH COPPER BRAIDED WIRES, RATHER THE PLUG WAS MADE WITH SOLID LOOSE WIRES, WHICH CAUSED THE PLUG TO BURN. THE CAMPER WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CAMPER WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS NO MILEAGE.

THE AXLE BRACKET WELDS ARE FAILING ON BOTH DEXTER 4,000 LB AXLES ON OUR 2014 ROCKWOOD 3025W WINDJAMMER TRAVEL TRAILER FOR THE SECOND TIME. UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND WITHIN THE RATED WEIGHT FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST SET WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY 11/16. ONE YEAR LATER THE SAME FAILURES OCCURRED ON THE REPLACED DEXTER 4,000 # TRAILER AXLES. WE HAVE BEEN DENIED REPLACEMENT AXLES FROM FOREST RIVER FOR THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. AS OBSERVED AT THE LOT OF OUR LOCAL RV DEALER ON 10/27/2017: THIS YEAR'S 2017 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD 3025W WINDJAMMER HAS A SET OF DEXTER 5,000 # AXLES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FOREST RIVER ROCKWOOD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT AXLE WAS FRACTURED. THE RV WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 574-642-2640 AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND THE CONTACT THE WARRANTY FORM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

TRAVEL TRAILER TIRES CRACKED ON SIDE WALLS AND AROUND BEAD. TRAILER NEW IN 2014 LESS THAN 4000 MILES ON TIRES. TIRES LOOSE AIR PRESSURE.
