I took this vehicle in on 5-19-2020 for recall (19543/NSTSA Recall 19V-839). Local dealership removed skid plate, inspection/pass. Over the next 3 yrs. the p/u was taken in because of battery drainage & then battery replacement. May 2024 it was taken in as all the rear lights stopped working (exactly what was stated in the recall letter would happen). Was told at the time that the topper, which a very reputable dealer put on, did the wiring wrong so I was charged over $1300 for repairing the wiring. The topper was put on in 2019, recall was 2020, and nothing was found then. An inspection was done and not replacement of rear lights wiring. I came very close to several rear-end collisions as I hadn't realized no rear lights in May 2024. Now, I'm getting "System Off to save battery. Please turn ignition off or start engine" again on the console. I've contacted Ford at Dearborn and was referred back to local dealership and they have given me the run around. I was in a week and half ago to show them all the paperwork, was told they'd look it over and give me a call. I've heard nothing. I'm upset that the recall work wasn't done in 2020 but had to pay for the same work to be done in 2024. Since the work done in May 2024 really didn't handle the battery being drained, I'd like a new pickup as this one seems to be a lemon, or the dealership isn't doing what they said they did. I have paperwork, but it wouldn't scan onto document.
In the past 3 months, my 2019 Ford ranger has had a multitude of issues come up all at once. First, my transmission destroyed a gear and needed to be rebuilt. Next was an engine misfire code that Ford detected, and ended up being spark plugs at 66k miles. The current issue is that my fan clutch failed, causing it to rip off the wiring harness that was nearby that led to the oil pressure sensor. This caused an instant loss in power on the highway and almost caused an accident. This truck has been given servicing on every mileage checkpoint that it was suppose to.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that there was a misfire in the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that there was water build up in the spark plug wells, and there were signs of corrosion on electrical component. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact about Technical Service Bulletin Number: 23-2011 and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
Transmission is in signs of failure. Ford is offering updates to the computer to attempt to remedy the issue. Very similar behavior across all models with this family of 10 speed transmissions. Discouraging for owners just coming out of warranty. TSBs show Ford knows of these issues. No warning lights, violent shifting and worse yet when the vehicle is cold the shift will be missed and make it extremely dangerous when merging into traffic. I feel like I am about to be rear ended every day leaving work. There is no way these transmissions are 'okay' or that this is considered the 'new-norm' that the Ford Dealer is pushing. I have some dash cam footage that I shared with Ford (and on my personal youtube account).
Transmission jerky. Trying to come up with a solution.
Transmission has been slipping from gears 3 into 4th & 7th into 8th. Also check engine light turns on & a wrench symbols. Then a notification pops up on my ford app in my iPhone stating powertrain 4 wheel drive problems. My vechile looses all boost from turbo and un bale to get up to any type of speed within the original engine’s capabilities.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop and up to 45 MPH, the vehicle jerked, lunged, and shuddered while the transmission was shifting gear. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission was slipping while in low gear and in higher gears. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds on several occasions, the vehicle downshifted unexpectedly. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Apparently the heater box in the 2019 Ranger is prone to warping. This leads to malfunctions in the heat/ac in the cabin. They tell me if I don’t get it replaced I could wind up getting ac instead of heat. This would be a real problem in winter weather, as I may not be able to keep the windshield clear without heat. I saw many complaints about this happening to owners of the 2019 Ford Ranger. The fix is to remove the dashboard to install a new box at a cost of 2200.00, according to the Ford dealership I bought the truck from.
There is insufficient shielding to prevent water from reaching the top of the engine. This results in water dripping on the coil packs and also entering the spark plug wells, causing loss of spark and reduced engine output. Over time, this issue also leads to rust in the engine head, potentially resulting in engine failure. Additionally, water can reach the EGR DPFE sensor, causing the engine to hesitate and shutter at various speeds. Both of these issues together cause a misfire when applying the accelerator and will cause the vehicle to initially hesitate then surge forward. Even with the engine cover, the venting at the base of the windshield allows water to drip down on the engine head, causing the above issues. Ford does recognize that there is an issue and have written several TSBs on the it.
I HAVE A 10R80 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION WITH 102,OOO MILES . IT STARTED BUCKING ON ME WHEN CHANGING GEARS AND SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE NO POWER OR SOMETIMES WANTS TO SPEED UP ON ME. KIND OF SCARY WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON HIGHWY
I have a 2019 Ford ranger that was built June 24th 2019 the internet states that any Ford ranger 2019 XLT built before July 30th 2019 has a recall for the HVAC system in the blower motor well my truck did not make the recall list but yet it has every single issue that they recall every time I call all they say is my vehicle VIN number is not on the recall but what is the chances that my blower motor and my blend door actuator does not work. When I bought the truck in 2021 I heard a ticking noise but the air still worked me being a female never thought much of it I thought it was my radio or something so this problem has existed since the day I bought it with 20,000 miles on it from the dealership. it has been tested by the Ford motor company and it does not work I have the same symptoms same issues and I should have my truck in the recall to get my air conditioner fixed it is a 4 year old truck and should not be broken I have on the truck for 4 years I bought it at 20,000 miles there's a ticking behind the dash and the blower motor does not work. I am disabled and live in South Carolina where is over 100° so it is a safety issue my truck should be on the recall the dealer should fix it how do I get this taken care of
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the lights on the instrument panel became inoperable, causing the vehicle to lose power. The contact stated that the messages “Unsafe Driving” and “Head-on Collision" were displayed. The contact waited until the engine cooled down before restarting and driving the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle also experienced a failure with A/C unit, and the failures became more persistent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
The check engine light illuminated after leaving residence and traveling less than 5 miles. Had the vehicle check by a certified ASE mechanic, He stated that my vehicle had a misfire code (PO300), if it was a PO301 OR PO302 or etc, it would indicate a specific coil was misfiring, but the PO300 is a general misfire code. Vehicle is jerking, pulling, bogging down as if doesn't want to go forward or is losing power, mechanic changed the spark pulls the first time thinking it was time due to mileage of the vehicle, and cleared the code. One week later check engine light is back on with the same PO300 code, he says we can try changing the coils next to see if this fixes the problem. I called my local ford dealer, who says the will charge me $167 dollars to diagnose the problem, and tell me whats wrong. After I have already told them what the problem is and what the code is for the problem. Which is the same code i got from my $40 code reader is the same code he got from his $1500 code reader, so what can the tell me for $ 167 that i dont already know and have told them, and from further research on recalls for this vehicle, I have found that they already know this problem exist. Ford should be responsible for repairing this know issue of engine misfires before someone dies from this engine shutting down while driving and causing a fatality on the highway.
The seat belt does not engage.
The vehicle skips gears when upshifting and does not shift through all the gears when in cruise mode. The truck will buck and bang jolting the passengers and appear to stall out without any warning. This has happened on numerous occasions and has even stalled out in the middle of a very busy intersection almost causing a collision by the truck not having enough power to coast through the intersection. Based on conversations with the dealership, this is not an isolated issue with our vehicle.
My 2019 Ford Ranger (Lariat) has as what I've discovered is a habitual problem that many other Ford Ranger owners are experiencing. While driving at lower speeds (28-40 mph) the trucks transmission will begin to knock and buck very hard. I've noticed, according to the gear indicator, that it is in either 7th or 8th gear. The problem has gotten consistently worse and I'm in fear of greater damage to the mechanics, or worse, a potential accident if it completely gives out while driving. - The truck has not had any modifications what-so-ever that would have in any way affected the transmission.
[XXX] my transmission, went out on my 2019 Ford Ranger 4 x 4. I was driving on the interstate in Houston, TX during the Friday afternoon rush-hour, when I completely lost power. It was very difficult to get off the interstate due to the traffic. I had experienced some transmission issues in the week before it failed there had been some jerking, hesitation, and the truck would lurch forward when accelerating from a stopped position and while driving there was harsh shifting. I had checked the transmission fluid and it was normal. There were no warning messages prior to it going out. I had the truck towed to a Ford dealership where I was told the transmission was still under warranty. It took the dealership nine weeks to repair the transmission. It is now one year later, and I have just started experiencing the same harsh shifting on the interstate, jerking and hesitation. Manufacture defected valve cover allows water to gather and leak into coils causing vehicle to shut down at highway speeds ! This is EXTREMELY dangerous and FORD admitted knowing of the issue and even has an active internal fix but demands payment to fix issue. My service advisor said Ford has known of this issue but would only repair if the customer pays for it. Please take this matter under heavy consideration as I nearly lost my life on [XXX] . I have personally read over 7300 online complaints of similar findings from not only Ford Ranger owners , but mechanics from private shops to Ford certified repair shops. Please , please, please contact Ford customer care, they will tell you there is a know issue that they agree poses a threat to drivers . Thank you very much . I lose power in my vehicle and the code is saying something about my exhaust not showing the correct air pressure. This is causing my truck to shake and gas and brake pedal to stiffen while driving
There's something wrong with the heater motor or the heater itself. When the heat is on even at the lowest setting the heat is too high. It gets very hot in the vehicle and I have to turn the heat off. The vehicle will fog up when the heater is turned off. There's also a smell like something's burning or overheating and there are clicking noises coming from behind the radio/ heater area. Also If the AC is turned on only the passenger side gets cold, and the driver side blows very hot air. The heat is on even in AC mode, very frustrating.

2019 Ford Rangers were shipped without an engine cover to protect the engine from water intrusion. This, along with the design of the plastic cowl at the base of the windshield being a 2 piece design with a seam directly over the engine bay, allows water to drain into the engine bay during periods of heavy rain. Water will drain from the windshield into the top of the engine, and begin filling the spark plug wells under the ignition coil boots and into the engine head. This water intrusion can cause engine misfire codes as well as a loss of power while driving, and on multiple instances while merging into traffic, the engine would bog down. It wasn't until the most recent occurrence that a check engine light came on. I immediately pulled into a shop and they found the plug wells were rusted, corroded and full of water from this happening since the day it rolled off the lot in 2019. I have had an independent mechanic assess the damage as well as had the vehicle towed to a local Ford dealer and they found the same condition- with the only solution to replace the engine head as they are unable to remove the plugs due to the damage caused by the water intrusion. An owner should not have to be concerned with parking or driving a vehicle in the rain and whether it will suddenly lose power while driving at highway speeds. This is a safety issue that Ford should be forced to take care of. They are aware of the issue and have been as they have issued multiple service bulletins with a
Heater box went out due to a defective heater door. This caused the front windshield to ice over and not being able to see other traffic. No warm air would come out of the vents .Heater box was replaced by the Dealer at the cost to owner.
Known issue with 2019 Ford Rangers where they've issued a safety recall on SOME, but not ALL Rangers in that year. Related to SSM [XXX]: 2019-2020 Ranger - Climate Control Temperature Will Not Adjust With Clicking/Snapping Noise From The Dash - Built On Or Before 30-Jul-2020. Related to recall 19S34. There is an online thread with over 20 pages on [XXX] [XXX] ) where numerous people have reported this issue where one side no longer has A/C. This is dangerous as A/C is required in the winter to help dehumidify the air before it goes across the heater core to defrost the windshield. Ford does not want to issue a recall for all models because it's a labor intensive costly repair to replace the HVAC Distribution Box. The steering wheel is loose. I tried to get my truck aligned and was told they weren’t able to do it because of the steering wheel being loose
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that there was a mixture of fluid and oil inside the rear passenger’s side wheel, and onto the brake calipers and the rear axle. The dealer determined that the passenger's side rear axle seal was leaking. The dealer replaced the passenger's side rear axle seal. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked and jolted while the transmission skipped from 1st to 3rd gear. The contact also stated that the vehicle hesitated to respond and made an abnormal sound while accelerating and decelerating, and then jolted when shifting into gear. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring more increasingly. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
2019 Ranger went into limp mode in traffic at the worst possible time. Error code appeared and referred to transmission fault at roughly 38k. Was taken to ford and I was told PCM just needed updating. By 45k the transmission was right back to shifting rough with sudden shifts jerking the truck. Called Ford to say hey it’s not right still. It’s continuing to downshift from 10th gear at 65mph instantly down to 3rd gear nearly ripping the transmission out. Every Ford dealership within 3.5hrs from me all told me the same thing. “We are told to say it’s normal for the 10r80 to do hard shifts. Ford knows they are a problem but want issue a recall, the only thing you can do it blow up the transmission while your under 60k warranty so they have no choice but to replace it.” Now at 80k I’m screwed and have to spend nearly 8k to fix the transmission ford said was fine.
Transmission is shifting extremely rough, lunges forward or completely disengaged in lower gears. Initially started to happen with cold starts but now continues to happen regardless of the amount of drive time. Completely unsafe when merging into traffic because transmission will either exhibit low power, shift roughly or completely disengage. Transmission has disengaged 5 times so far during initial acceleration. Issue has been confirmed by my Ford dealer. Vehicle is currently being serviced for complete transmission replacement. Dealer has told me that this a frequent complaint that they are experiencing with Ford car owners with the 10R80 transmission.
My seat belt buckle stopped working (part number KB3Z-2161203-AB) and despite the fact that my truck is less than 5 years old and has less than 60K miles on it Ford's service system says this part is not covered under the 5 year 60K mile Safety Restraint System nor the Premium Care extended warranties I have on the truck. Documentation for the warranties suggests it does but the system the Ford service techs use says no. When I've escalated to Customer Care, they claim "there is nothing they can do." Ford Protect (warranty department) says the same thing. A helpful Ford tech on the internet claims he looked into it and says the problem is that the Ford service system has the part misclassified as a "trim" part and not a "safety" part so it only recognizes it as something covered by the 3 year 36K mile bumper to bumper warranty. When I pressed and they sent me to Ford Financial Assistance for a "Goodwill Repair" I was told they would only cover 40%. I have presented pictures to Ford of their own warranty documentation that clearly states the seat belt buckles are covered and they repeatedly have pushed back saying "there is nothing we can do, it's denied." Bringing it to your attention in the hopes you can help me find the right folks at Ford to remedy this issue as anyone who has a Ford with this same base part number (2161203) is going to have this problem. I'm attaching a copy of the Ford Warranty Safety Section and a copy of the online listing for the Seat Belt Buckle.
THE TRANSMISSION "BUCKING" DURING SPEED ACCELERATION. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO DE-ACCELERATE BEFORE ACCELERATING TO DESIRE SPEED. PROBLEM: PROGRAMIMG OF THE PCM FOR THE TRANSMISSION. ACCORDING TO THE DATA COLLECTED ON THE FORD FORUM THIS PROBLEM AFFECTS ALL FORD RANGER FOR 2019 MODELS.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle lunged forward while shifting gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and scheduled an appointment. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 26,800.
Unintended Aceleration Veheicle experienced normal stop with no anomaly. Upon release of brakes, experienced reported Wide Open Throttle" Brakes were ineffective. Vehicle accelerate thru intersection striking guardrail with significant damage. WOT stopped by shutting of engine. Vehicle currently in repair. Reported event to local dealer service dept, Insurance Rep and Ford referencing 2010 Class Action Lawsuit for similar events, All claim no knowledge of such an event. Vehicle had no previous reports of similar events
My 2019 Ford Ranger for around 9 months occasionally has a significant loss of power and acceleration from 2nd to 3rd gear. It has become dangerous to drive due to the aforementioned. My vehicle has 54019 and is under the factory power train warranty still. The dealership told me that water had entered the EGR and damaged the sensor. They already knew by their diagnostics test it wasn’t a negligence based issue. The dealership told me at least 5 other Ford Rangers have come in with the same problem and Ford will not recall it even tho they know it’s an issue. I called Ford customer satisfaction. They stated although they say powertrain and related parts in their factory warranty and this is affecting the transmission they could not get authorization to fix the known issue. Please investigate this before people get killed.
I had expressed transmission issues with the service center for over a year. Paid for transmission servicing, reprogramming, and kept all maintenance up to date. All regular maintenance has been performed, and the truck has about 80% highway miles, and been cared for and never abused. Now, Ford is telling me, the entire transmission needs to be replaced, at a high cost, and the truck has about 80k miles on it.
I was driving over a bridge at 65 mph on a foggy morning a couple weeks ago and my windshield fogged over. I turned on the defroster and it only blew cold air. I could not see and I couldn't clear it. I had to slow down and find a safe spot to pull over. I had to try to wipe down the windshield and then start driving. It did it again and i had to pull over again and wipe and wait for it to clear to be able to drive. It was foggy the next morning and I had to do the same thing all over again. I stopped by a ford dealer and spoke to someone. He told me, oh yeah we know all about it and so does ford. The ac heater chamber in the dash breaks. Costs about 2 grand to fix. All the new rangers do it. This is a safety defect and needs to be recalled by ford. Thank you.
Ticking sound when i turn off vehicle. Usually did it for about 5 seconds, Now it just keeps on ticking and sounds like it is coming from behind glove box area passenger side. Found a lot of same complaints for this year Ranger and they mention the "Blend Door". If so many complaints shouldn't it be a recall?
Vehicle presented a blind spot system fault warning and a cross traffic system fault. Immediately after this warning appears the vehicle ac/ heater shutdown, passengers seat belts light came up and radio got frozen. None of the ac/ heater controls worked. Blinkers appears to be advising that the were not working properly. Vehicle rums but everything else regarding de console stopped working.
Has same cracked valve issue showing up in f150
My Vehicle transmission skips second gear going from gear 1 to gear 3 when accelerating from a stopped position. Issue cause jerking and a clunk when gear catches. When this happens, vehicle will temporarily stall until gear catches putting driver and passengers at risk of collision if turning at intersection, proceeding through 2-way stop intersection, or on hills/ on train tracks. My vehicle has never displayed warning lights on the dash. I had the vehicle inspected at a Ford Dealer. Dealership was able to replicate the issue. Dealership related they flashed the TCM, but it did not resolve the issue and recommended replacement of transmission or rebuild. Vehicle is at 62,000 miles and is barely out of warranty. Researching the issue will lead to the Ford Ranger Forum, where multiple other people are experiencing transmission issues with this vehicle.
2019 Ford Ranger Problem-1- Engine tried to stall several times during driving and operation. Problem-2- When trying to shift from Park to forward or Reverse, the engine shuts off. My truck has been at the dealership for several weeks now and they have not been able to fix or identify the cause.
Front Passenger seatbelt locks up every single time it is used. It has been an issue since day one of purchasing the vehicle. (There is a recall for this issue, however my specific VIN is not listed.) This is a major concern of safety.
The vehicle is shifting rough between 2nd and 3rd gear. It has trouble getting up to speed through intersections.
The blindspot sensor on my truck appears to have gotten very hot. It melted the tail light and the wiring harness.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed with an abnormal squealing sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the brake pads and brake discs. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
