I stopped by Belle Tire, 11361 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229 to get my right rear tire leak repaired on my 2016 Mustang, and they informed me after struggling to remove the OEM lug nuts, that there have been several complaints and lawsuits with these type of lug nuts, due to the fact that the cap on these nuts swell or become distorted, which makes it impossible to remove with standard lug nut wrench. They recommended that I replace all lug nuts with the solid, one piece type nut, part number Dorman lug nut 611-007 @ $11 each, for a total of $235.40. I feel after many complaints with these OEM lug nuts, ford should be required to replace at no cost to the customer, or reimburse customers who have already replaced for safety reasons.
Hi there, I believe there is a recall currently on mustangs for the rear view camera not working. I checked my VIN number as my car has the same issue, but it doesn't show at a recall, I'd like understand why this is as the issue is on the same model, and year. I live in the UK, and this same issue happened with my car that was made in US, so I'd like to know if my car was in the US would it have been recalled regarding this rear camera recall. As the cars in the UK aren't and I just want to understand my options with Ford. I know this is a strange request, but would appreciate your steer on this.

The passenger door of my 2016 Mustang Convertible keeps opening to the secondary latch while driving. This has happened multiple times, always while driving at a high speed (70 mph+) on the interstate. It is very frightening to hear wind noise and see a "door ajar" warning on the dash while driving at a high speed, and then have to attempt to find a safe place to pull over to open & close the door so it's fully latched. I've found a recall notice on Ford's website. Both my local Ford dealership & Ford Motor Company's Customer Service have stated my VIN Number are not eligible for the program to have this repaired. I am experiencing the exact issue described: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10205726-0001.pdf

Ford Motor Company and the NHTSA issued a recall on 2/15/2022 on my 2016 Ford Mustang model vehicle a few months ago. It was "Back over prevention: sensing system: camera". Recall no. 22V082000. Also, Recall Number: 22S06 DECKLID WIRING UNIVERSAL CAMERA FRETTING CORROSION. Ford sent me a letter on 2/17/2022 alerting me of the recall indicating that a resolution to this issue would come about early in the second quarter of 2022. It feels like we're now approaching quarter 3 of the year and I have yet to be notified of repairs and my rear view camera is now completely not functioning at ALL. When I've searched recently for this recall, there is no longer any more information on the Ford website, nor the NHTSA website. I find that completely bizarre. I'd love to car the proper repairs immediately being that Ford guaranteed that it would be repaired accordingly to resolve the recall issue. Can you please look into why this recall has disappeared from your website, from Ford's database, and please help me get my car repaired>
The center console would go out cant push any buttons. Also causing brake light to stay illuminated or off while driving and not work correclty. Big safety issue. No HVAC funciton either when this happens. Cannot reset. Even after unplugging battery for a while. Does the same thing hit or miss.

United States Code Chapter 301 Title 49 Chapter 9. Duty to Notify Owners and Dealers and Provide a Remedy for a Noncompliance or a Safety-Related Defect Regardless of whether the noncompliance with an FMVSS or a safety-related defect is determined to exist by the manufacturer or by NHTSA, the manufacturer must provide owners and dealers of the affected products with notification of the noncompliance or defect and must remedy the noncompliance or defect, usually without charge. 45 The notification and remedy process is commonly referred to as a “safety recall campaign” or more simply as a “recall.” NHTSA monitors the remedy program to ensure its successful completion. The agency is not authorized to expend its funds on recalls; the expense of notifying owners and providing a remedy must be borne by the fabricating manufacturer and/or importer of the products found to contain the noncompliance or 46 Manufacturers are encouraged to contact NHTSA at 202-366-5210 or review the agency’s web site for defect. Several complaints have been associated with this 3rd brake light harness defect which causes this safety item to fail State Inspection. NTSA needs to conduct a analysis and hold the manufacturer accountable to remedy this safety defect IAW this Code. I have contacted Wynne Ford and Ford Motor Company with my concern without any satisfaction.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -The engine on my 2016 Ford Mustang EcoBoost is malfunctioning. My vehicle's RPM drop extremely low then rev high, then the car almosts cut off when I drive at low speeds, park, or stop at lights/stop signs. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -I stopped driving my car any further than 10-15 mile distances because I was afraid the car may cut off while I'm driving down the road in traffic. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -I took my car to 3 different Ford dealerships, in Mississippi, North Carolina and Maryland. The first could not replicate the issue or find any issues, the second dealer whom I paid approximately $700 for repairs had my car for 3 weeks because they couldn't find the issue, so they replaced my spark plugs and an ignition coil and said it should be good. The third Ford dealership didn't diagnose it truly they just said it was leaking coolant so it had to be an internal coolant leak that has damaged my engine (causing a misfire), based on a Ford TSB that has apparently been out for a long time. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -It was inspected by 3 different Ford dealerships. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -The first t

NSTB could not help me because they said it is individual dispute. This is not an individual dispute. It comes under the Code reference below! I summited numerous complaints to NSTB on this matter. I did contact Ford Manufacturer who advised me to contact Wynne Ford to summit the paper work. Two weeks has elapsed and Wynne Ford has not summited the paper work. Request You have someone in your organization investigate the issue and get in touch with Wynne Ford or Ford Manufacturer since it comes under United States Code Chapter 301 Title 49! Your NHTSA representative made me aware of this Code and stated someone in your organization would investigate this matter. No one in this organization has investigated this matter or contacted them. A failed 3rd Brake light harness (Safety Hazard) caused my vehicle to fail State Inspection.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the mechanic discovered a misfire in cylinder #3. The coil and the spark plug in cylinder #3 were replaced; however, the check engine warning light intermittently illuminated as the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was hot. The contact took the vehicle back to the mechanic where they discovered that the coolant level was low and recommended that the vehicle be taken to a dealer. AC Evaporator failure does not allow the defroster system to operate properly.
The locked doors are randomly unlatching when I hit a bump. It’s happened several times on one side or the other and usually when I’m driving at high speed on the freeway. My young daughter was in the front seat when it happened again and it was very scary as the door was barely closed. If she had her arm leaning on it, it would have opened completely. I’ve had to rush into the emergency lane to close it again. These doors are locked when I start driving. I know there’s a recall on the 2015 mustang but I didn’t see one for the 2016. This is a convertible so I understand the doors are heavier and maybe this is a factor but it’s dangerous and Ford has been anything but conscientious regarding public safety issues with these mustangs including the infamous bank 8 misfires with the engine. Many people have had this and are forced to buy new engines on vehicles with mileage as low as 60,000 miles. Mine has been recently doing this as well.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for inspection and the local dealer diagnosed that the third backup light and harness were defective. There were no warning lights on the instrument panel prior to the inspection. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was uncertain if the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact owns a 2016 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle shifted out of gear and loss motive power. The “Vehicle Not in Park" message was displayed and the service warning light illuminated. The contact engaged the manual transmission and was able to continue to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission lead frame had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
Failure of Driver side Valve cover- leaking oil and valve cover bolts were completely loose. Both valve covers are prone to failure according to tsb 19-2309. Note: The engine block is designed to have 13 bolts to secure and seal valve covers to engine. Instead of using a 13 bolt valve cover, ford used 9 bolt valve covers for 3 consecutive years which deviates from the engine design. Safety concern- the discharge of combustible oil in and around engine bay and other engine components. engine components which are flammable and or susceptible to damage as a result from contact of leaking oil from failed valve covers and bolts. This failure could also result in catastrophic engine failure depending on when this failure occurs, if it goes unnoticed, and how bad it is. This problem has been confirmed by ford via tsb 19-2309 which instructs the removal of both valve covers, drilling 4 holes in each valve cover, replacing valve cover gasket’s, and adding 4 additional bolts to each valve cover upon complete re-assembly. This problem has been reproduced sufficient amounts for a TSB to be in place. An important NOTE with TSB 19-2309 is that it does not instruct the need to drill threaded holes into the engine block for 8 additional valve cover bolts because they are already present. The holes are simply covered up by the 9 bolt valve covers and go unused. Vehicle has been inspected by a Certified mechanic/ business outside of Ford dealership/company. No warning lights of any kind appear

Bad harness wiring for 3rd Backup Brake light and now Backup Camera. Received a recall for backup camera. Good info to correct safety hazard. Waiting for backup camera harness to arrive at Wynne Ford Dealership. I took my vehicle in for safety inspection to Wynne Ford, Hampton, VA, 757-838-3673 and 3rd Backup Light Failed Inspection because of safety hazard. On 24 Mar 2020 Wynne Ford installed a harness for the bad wiring. Cost to fix safety hazard out of pocket was $279.41. Request reimbursement of $279.41 to cover my expense on a safety hazard.
I smelled a burning smell when turning on seat heater. Seat heater no longer provides heat, but indicator switch light up as if heater should be on. The burning could have led to fire in passenger compartment of vehicle. I have not taken the vehicle in to have this serviced. I inspected the wiring harness and the “M” pin is clearly burnt (I have photos). There were no warning lights. I can press switch to turn on seat heater and the lights turn on as if the seat heater were working, but no heat.
Periodically when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, with manual transmission, I am unable to engage 3rd gear, like I am locked out of 3rd gear. My safety (and vehicles around me) is at risk because I am unable to continue accelerating and have to either go back to 2nd gear or into 4th gear. This problem has not been addressed at service center as it is intermittent. I have had this happen dozens of times. There is no warning when this happens.
The bolts on engine valve cover come loose and back out over time causing the engine to leak oil
25 mph mild frontal collision caused a fire to start in the door panel as identified by the driver and the fire dept. The fire caused a majority of the cabin to burn and the vehicle to become a total loss in under a minute. Front airbags deployed but not side airbags. Electrical system in left door possibly malfunctioned causing a fire, evident by the fire reigniting every time the fire fighter ceased using the fire extinguisher. Driver was right next to the damaged electrical and was almost hurt by the fire, almost resulting in severe burns or death to the driver had they not escaped the cabin a few seconds before ignition. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure.
Around September of 2021 the backup camera on my 2016 Ford Mustang convertible began to fail to show a viewable image. After visiting a dealer who wanted $500 to replace the camera, I watched this video from a Ford Master Mechanic to realize my problem (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71Onbo8PgrY). Upon examination, I discovered that there were two zip ties, one in the trunk and the other at the body, severely restraining the free movement of the wiring as the trunk open/close. I clipped those zip ties and then carefully opened the wiring cover at the junction of the trunk and body. Several of the wires in the harness, including a coaxial cable, showed stripping of the wire's plastic cover and wire damage from the severe constraint caused by the tie's compression. This is clearly a factory manufacturing error and should be recalled for replacement or repair.
Many times, the passenger door has unlocked and opened while the vehicle was in motion. The door ajar light will come on and it happens without warning at various speeds. I am the original owner and the car has approximately 28,000 miles.
I would like to file a complaint against Ford in regards to a door latch issue with my 2016 Mustang convertible. Starting in April 2021, the passenger side door will become unlatched on it's own while driving even with doors locked. It doesn't open entirely but enough to trip "door ajar" light and interior lights. Since that time in April it happened in June of 2021 and again in August after which I took car to a dealer. Door came unlatched at normal speeds between 40 and 60 mph. The car is under an extended warranty from Ford and the car now has approximately 37,000 miles on it. I am the original owner. The dealer kept car for about a weeks time and said they could not duplicate it. They told me warranty wouldn't honor it since they couldn't duplicate the issue and it would cost around $600 to fix possible issues. They asked me several questions implying I was imagining it or I didn't know what I was talking about. I've been driving for about 50 years. Since August, it has happened 2 more times, once at highway speed on 10/17/21 and again yesterday, 01/11/21 also at highway speed. This time my son was sitting in passenger seat. He is a Ford trained mechanic although he doesn't work for Ford but works on Ford police fleet cars. I do believe this is a safety issue but Ford will not address the issue. I took it to Ford corporate and they backed the dealer. I believe it will only get worse as time progresses. Wouldn't cover under warranty but if I wanted to pay they would do wha
Purchased the car around 40k miles. Did all the maintenance required for 3-4 years with it now at 98k miles. On the evening near Christmas eve as i was at the red light making a right turn i heard clank from the bottom of my engine, then metal pieces were falling off to the ground. Smoke was coming out from the engine, with the oil pressure illuminating light on. I pulled over to see a trail of oil, while looking under I saw a big whole on the bottom of the engine block. Good thing it didn't happened when I was driving at a higher speed and I was by myself vs having my kids with me. Geico would not cover my blown engine, and ford knows this is a known issue referring to "Ecoboom" but i no longer have warranty with them. Car has been sitting at the shop pending 6500 to have the engine replaced. With covid times we are living in right now i dont know what else to do.
Steering wheel airbag did not deploy in a high speed crash. The knee airbag DID deploy. My daughter was in an accident with another vehicle. The other vehicle was traveling about 40 mph. It was a very high impact crash that launched by daughters car about 30 feet. The steering wheel airbag did not deploy. As a result my daughter hit her and and received a severe concussion. She was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle is in the process of being classified as "totaled" by insurance company but they have not inspected the specific airbag issue. There were no warning lamps or messages indicating the airbag was non-functional.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
