2023 Ford Mustang Mach E complaints

At [XXX] on Tuesday [XXX] while driving our 2023 Ford Mustang Mach E GT eastbound in the left lane on [XXX] near the [XXX] intersection the car suddenly stopped. There was a second or two of multiple warning notices then the car instrument panel went blank. The car “bricked” as is known in Electric Vehicle jargon. There was no power to anything, and the stop was sudden and steering was extremely difficult. Washington State Patrol and Washington Department of Transportation responded to provide safety assistance while eastbound traffic on [XXX] backed up for several miles. The car is now at Frontier Ford in Anacortes Washington and they have confirmed its status as completely dead. In fact it took almost an hour to get the car off the tow truck. The dealership tried several battery jumper options to the 12v battery but when they worked it seemed to only work for a few seconds before the car “bricked” again. There is probably a WSP police and WSDOT report about responding to this incident. In the seconds before the complete electrical shutdown there was a cascade of warning notices then everything went blank and the car abruptly stopped in traffic. It took over an hour to get a tow truck and then the cars “bricked” status made the towing job very difficult and eventually the car was literally dragged onto the flatbed with a winch. While using ford Blue cruise I have found a major major safety flaw. While using blue cruise hands free driving over a major bridge in the middle of the day the car swerved a very hard left. Almost forcing me off the bridge. I believe the shadows that were cast on the bridge made the cars system malfunction. The incident has happened twice now and also someone else who has the same car in another state on a similar style brige with similar shadows while using blue cruise said the same thing has happened to them.

Driver's door actuator/plunger jammed in the extended position and would not allow the door to be closed. Could not close the door to drive the car. Vehicle has not been inspected yet. Found a temporary solution by searching online, which said to push hard on the door to close it. This worked to get the door closed but likely will not prevent the problem from reoccurring.

I have a 2023 Mach e premium on lease. I drive using single pedal mode. Three days ago I pulled into a parking spot in front of a restaurant in a plaza. When I took my foot off the accelerator the car came to a complete stop (as it should have ) … about a half a second later, before I could put the transmission into park, the vehicle went full throttle and jolted forward up over the curb onto the plaza sidewalk and crashed into a full brick column. I slammed on the breaks as fast as I could, but if the brick column was not there, we would have crashed into the restaurant. There is damage to the front drivers side of the vehicle. The airbags did not deploy. The beeping sensors never went off. Honestly, the experience scared the crap out of me. We’re lucky no one was injured. Ford has the car at the dealership now. they told me that something seems to have malfunctioned. They told me that the car should have deployed the airbags, the sensors should have went off, a deceleration stamp should be logged in the vehicle data and it should be telling ford that the car experienced a collision. None of that happened. needless to say, they are now telling me that because they can’t mimic the problem, Ford is instructing them to return the vehicle to me. they have nothing to repair, and are not taking ownership for the damage. I honestly don’t want to take the car back. my wife isn’t comfortable driving it anymore as she feels it’s a safety risk.

Was driving on hightway another vehicle was hit by a truck and sent ti my lane. Y hit it almost head on. My vehicle tire and front axle was ripted off. My side or car also damaged. Cas was total loss. No collision light and no air bags deployed

The Mach-E alert systems does not alert the driver if there's a pedestrian close by. The alert system alerts for vehicles only not pedestrians. I would like to see the car have same alert sensitivity for pedestrians as it does for vehicles. Also, when changing lanes lights on the side mirrors have warnings that a vehicle is close by. Ford should add an audible warning like beeping or ringing sound along with the lighted icons on mirrors.

Upon leaving to go to work, the vehicle's speedometer was not displayed.

I was driving along the road at 35 mph when the vehicle lost power and refused to accelerate or keep speed. The cluster flashed a warning indicating "Stop Safely Now", so I pulled over and came to a stop, and I shifted to P. Thereafter, the vehicle shut off and would not start, continuing to indicate to "Service Vehicle Now", as well as additional new errors, including "Service Powertrain", "Full Accessory Power", "Collision Assist Unavailable", and at least 8 other errors that would not go away. Two red lights were indicated on the cluster - one of them looks like a car with a "!" through it, and the other is a wrench. The vehicle is charged every night to 95% using a Level 2 CCS charger directly to the vehicle's charging port, no adapters. The vehicle had 91% battery remaining when this occurred. About 20 minutes after the incident, while waiting for a tow truck, the vehicle went completely dead and all components were unresponsive. The ignition would not activate, the doors would not open, and the open doors would not properly shut (the electronic catch mechanisms were not catching the door to keep it shut). I could not activate the screen to put it into Emergency Tow mode. The vehicle has 17,999 miles and was purchased brand new in September 2023 with 0 miles.

The car has a feature known as one pedal driving. While using in this mode it is possible for your foot to slip off the accelerator pedal. If this happens, the car immediately decelerates and acts like braking with no warning to following mitorists. A collision is very possible if someone is following too close. The pedal requires you to have your foot at an angle in order to keep pressure on the pedal and I have had my foot slip numerous times, so I called FORD customer service & was told “just don’t use the feature “ & they’ve had no complaints, there is no service bulletin & dealer said same thing. The problem is the pedal is too small and. Until someone tells them to change it, all Ford Mustangs have the same size pedal. They need to come up with a fix or at least warn owners of the possible problem using the “one pedal” feature.

Vehicle will suddenly without warning change driving "mode". This includes while in motion or when vehicle is parked, shut off, and re-started. I had submitted video of this occurring many times to the Ford Service Dealer. Vehicle will disengage from "One-Pedal Driving" mode without warning. This is a serious driving hazard because the normal "brake regen" feature to slow and stop the vehicle is suddenly no longer "engaged". Vehicle will no longer receive safety updates via vehicle OTA (over the air) updates to address these and other vehicle defects. The last OTA was in June 2024 with a regression/repeat update manually applied at the Ford Service Dealer in September 2024. The vehicle is now substantially out of date with respect to safety and other vehicle OTA updates. The Ford Service Dealer cannot repair these problems. They have attempted to address and repair without success, even claiming in Sept 2024 this vehicle was "road-tested" by their Technician, however the mileage on the odometer had not changed since the vehicle was left at the Ford Service Dealer. Lastly, regarding the active recall on the vehicle, 5 Ford Service Dealers in the area stated the NHTSA Recall is "unnecessary" and the manufacturer (Ford) knows the replacement parts are not available. Specifically, I was informed my vehicle would remain "parked" waiting for service for 4-6 weeks before any diagnosis or repairs would be made.

Vehicle locked down and doors would not open or respond. Vehicle was completely prevented from getting into and a tow was required to try to open through 12v battery jump. Took two tow trucks and vehicle has no door handles so there is no way in. Ford told me it was a failure of software update and then they told me their engineers were aware of these failures and were working on it. Vehicle had to be reset and towed.

Intermittent issue with the driver seat belt sensor which illuminates the restraints indicator warning light. Message sent in FordPass app says: "The restraints control module has detected a fault with the driver seatbelt buckle sensor circuit" Consultation with the dealership indicated that when the restraints warning light is illuminated the airbags become disabled. However, stopping the vehicle, turning it off, removing and reinserting the seatbelt into the buckle, and starting the vehicle clears the warning light. This is extremely intermittent and replication is difficult.

A software glitch is causing lag in the instrument panel which displays the speed and turn indicators. Both are experiencing 'lag' or 'skipping', so the speedometer is not updating in real-time and regularly displays inaccurate speed information. To elaborate, as I accelerate, the indicated speed jumps with the worst experienced so far being 28mph to 60mph. The car will do the same decelerating. The turn indicators/hazard light indicators are also lagging and not displaying correctly. The Ford dealership was not able to resolve the issue after resetting several systems and attempting a software update.

The dealer was made aware of the failure through a voicemail message; however, the dealer had not returned the call. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

It’s already happened twice where the dash/odometer screen is off and cannot see the speed or anything displayed

Approximately 90 seconds after startup, every speaker emitted a deafening sound that can be described as a high-powered air compressor. The sound was debilitating, and in the moment it felt like the car would explode (solely from sound, no visible defects). The vehicle was in motion, and could have caused a wreck under different conditions. The issue continued even after turning off then restarting the car. The issue stopped once disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. There was never an error message or any other warning, other than the sound. The dealership was unable to recreate the issue, resulting in no repair action. The problem has not recurred as of 12 months later; however, I still get nervous when driving the vehicle.

It is far too easy to accidentally hit and activate cruise control button on the steering wheel when turning. If your thumb brushes up against the button the car can continue moving when you expect it to be slowing down either coasting or staying at the same speed when using 1-pedal driving. This could easily cause an accident when coming up to a turn and someone is crossing the street or similar situation.

Upon further inspection, the contact noticed that the rear passenger’s side brake pad material had separated and was stuck on the rotor. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was outside in the rain a week before the failure. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear driver’s side and the rear passenger’s side rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

We were driving my Ford Mach E when the vehicle disengaged the accelerator pedal and accelerated forward in which we had no control of. Pressing the break would cause the vehicle to accelerate faster almost causing multiple accidents at a high rate of speed. Multiple sensor malfunction even after being “ fixed “

The wireless charging pad for cell phones causes the phones to overheat and stop functioning properly. My fear is that an overheated phone could result in a fire. My understanding is that this issue exists not just for the charging pad on the Mach-E but other Ford models as well and across phone manufacturers.

Don't know if this is the right form to fill out, but I have an issue with my car that has happened 3 times. When it rains hard water comes in through the passenger front side of the vehicle, I can't seem to find where is coming from. Have not taken the car to the dealer yet as I want them to see the water in the car to they can diagnose, have seen online that other people have faced the same issue.

There are multiple exposed screws facing inwards in the rear wheel wells pointing towards the tires. I reported the issue to the dealer and they inspected other similar cars on the lot and found they all have the same issue. The screws are about an inch long each

I own 2 of these vehicles and the condition exists in both, I also reported the issue to the dealership and they inspected similar vehicles on the lot and they all had the same issue

There was a software update released in July that drains the 12 volt battery and locks you out of thr vehicle. The reddit forums are calling it the "lockout glitch". It has to be towed to a dealer in order to even get into the vehicle.

Complete loss of power while driving on a congested road. Started as a couple error warnings for different systems like the front camera and then all of a sudden told me to pull over immediately. Luckily we had just turned off the highway, but barely got to the side of the road before we lost power. For a little while the accessories worked, but we eventually lost ALL power to include our hazards. Since we were sitting in a very dangerous areas as people off ramped the highway, this put us directly in danger. Ford handled roadside assistance well, but the dealer treated us like a nuisance and despite the car being towed there and they being fore warned, they still acted like we were an annoyance. Despite promising loaner on the phone, when we arrived they decided they had none. We had to threaten turning in the car under Hawaii lemon laws to get assistance. This car has under 300 miles and had a 90% charge. We leased it a month ago. Given the prior complaints, this issue clearly hasn’t been resolved OR this dealer chose to not take care of the recalls.

I am locked out of the car despite having keys and phone in hand. When I was in the car it wouldn’t start. Screen was black. I got out of the car to try other doors. When I got back to driver door, the car was locked and I tried all normal modes to get in the car. It is NOT the 12 volt battery. I tried to use the manual jump to get the hood to pop open but it didn’t work. If I had a baby in the car and it was hot out, this could be a life-threatening disaster.

While driving the 2023 Ford MachE in 1 Peddle mode Friday 12 July 2024. I had to suddenly brake due to a car cutting of the car in front of me to make an illegal turn. I applied the brakes (HARD) and my car came to a complete stop. Just as I was breathing a sigh of relief, and waiting for the still parked car in front of me to move. On I released my foot of the brake (the car should have held in place). However, warning lights sensors started beeping going crazy as the car lunged forward. It caused me to hit the car in front of me. The lunge was so forceful that for a moment I thought another car had rear-ended me and pushed me into the stopped car in front of me. I did not have time to see all of the alerts flashing on the dash as they were flashing as the car was propelled forward. The other car did not sustain any damage. However my car car did. While waiting on the Police to come make a report I did use the in car engineer feedback and recorded a message notifying Ford that my car had lunged forward. On Monday 15 July I called the Ford BEV team to tell them what happened. Was advised to take it to a dealership to be checked out. The dealership ran diagnostics and updated the car via a technical service bulletin. 24-2187 issued on 07 June 2024. Vehicle failed to operate. Did not “turn on” and main battery power would not connect to transmission/motors leaving driver and passengers stranded.

The dash screen is blank and dead since 2 days. Also i am getting the airbag disabled notification. There is no way to see the odometer and speedometer. Also the dash screens keeps rebooting while driving.

Car suddently lost power. There no torque. High voltage battery warning came on. Car dontvrespond as expected auddently lost of power.

My vehicle has no driver screen. It completely went black. Cannot monitor my speed or check anything on the dash screen.

Undocumented, programmed power loss at interstate speed. Power purposely and dangerously reduced at speed due, and is even displayed on the dash board with small "gray" bars within the "Power Gauge". The "Power Gauge" indicates power, regeneration and power reduction level. ***There is no reasoning in the Owners Manual explaining the power reduction.*** l only found this after I purchased the car; "When the system limits the available maximum power, the right side of the gauge shows gray lines representing the proportional reduction in available power."

Phone as a key non operative walk away lock chirp folding windows navigation on 24hr clock but set for 12. Dealership says no issues but obviously many exist

I just bought mach E. [XXX] I was in car line at Macdonalds to get food for my 14 year old son. The speeded itself to full speed. I luckily had both hands on wheel. I turned car to left away from car in front of me. Luckily I was able to put my foot on brakes and able to stop the car but not before killing couple of plants on curb. I manage to stop car just couple of feet away from building. In process I burst my front left tire and had to tow the car to nearest shop to get tire replacement. I complaint to Ford. Made sure they document everything. They haven't paid any attention to my calls and want me to pick car from dealership without getting into why it happened. Before this happened I noticed at least four times the car speeds up when you press cruise control button even without setting the set up button. Ford is not willing to do anything about it and I am scared to drive that car the way it shot at me and itself speeded while I was in car line. Whenever it rains the brakes on the ford Mac-E get stuck to the rotor. The car will not move unless you apply pressure to the pedal and accelerate. The car makes a clicking noise and it’s visible damage to the rotor and stoping isn’t smooth.

While driving the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the middle of traffic. The vehicle had to be changed to a tow mode as it was stuck in park. The vehicle had not been driven more than 3days at this point. The vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer who found no issue and gave the vehicle back with errors still in the dash. The vehicle was then brought to a second dealer who found no issues after 5days of inspection. They advised all codes see cleared by the previous dealer. Vehicle then stopped again in the middle of traffic with no warning and was towed again. This was he 3rd attempt at accessing the issue on a 2week old purchase of which I had driven at most 1week. The vehicle abruptly stops while driving, displays a battery icon, a car icon with and exclamation, and a turtle icon. To which it has each time this has happened and the dealer seems to find no issue with this and sends me out to drive in safely again.

Blue Cruise initially was lost. Dealer reprogrammed car based on a TSB. Now receive intermittent fault for one pedal driving . Will resolve only if car is turned off and restarted. Concern that while driving such a change could cause an accident.

This vehicle has a one-pedal drive mode that uses regenerative braking to slow / stop the vehicle when you remove your foot from the accelerator pedal. On several occasions, this system has suddenly turned off with an error message displayed on the screen. This means that the braking that I was experiencing at the moment suddenly ceased. This is a dangerous situation that could result in an accident. Ford indicates it is a known issue, but currently does not have a fix for it.

While the contact's husband was driving at approximately 70 MPH, the front undercarriage cover became loosened, and the contact's husband felt a vibration coming from the lower front passenger's side of the vehicle. The vibration increased and the vehicle was pulled into a parking lot, where it was observed that the cover was dragging on the ground. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,500.

While driving on the highway at speed, the front undercarriage cover of the Ford Mach-E came loose, started vibrating violently, then started dragging on the highway. Thankfully the driver was able to pull over safely. The incident could have caused life-threatening injury to the driver and other vehicles has the part come totally lose, come under a tire, or started hitting the battery system that sits just behind the car. This could have caused the driver to loose control, the part to hit another vehicle, or a fire in the case of the battery system and the violent impact and friction as a result of the vibrating loose part. We took the vehicle to the dealer and they confirmed that there was damage to the undercarriage cover, and also "impact" damage to what is under the undercarriage cover (albeit they assumed the impact damage to be due to user/environment, as you'll see from the pictures, it was likely due to the vibrating loose part itself.) No warnings or indicators came on before the problem. The vehicle is only 3 months old and used exclusively for city driving/commuting. The car has not been any vehicular accidents or even minor collisions.

Brakes: The brakes grab hard when coming to a stop and cause a slight jerk. I have reported this issue to the original dealership of purchase; Angela Krause Ford in Alpharetta, GA. It’s been two weeks since I purchased this vehicle brand new and I still have not been able to get it in for repair. Charge Port Door: The charge port door cover came off while I was trying to close it and the clip part that connects the door to the car and locks came off (very cheaply made and other Mach E owners have suffered this same thing shortly after purchase). I can’t drive the vehicle because of the brakes issue and also because with the slightest wing going down the highway the charge port door pops open. I have it secured with a piece of tape currently but that’s still not safe or secure and the door could still fly open.

The charging system would not work after purchase. Without careful planning I could have been stuck hours from home, stranded. I tried about 8 different chargers and called support with no luck. We ended up having to tow it to the dealership. We've now waited 3 weeks to be told 2 electrical wiring harnesses are corroded ( brand new car ) and they are not able to order the parts they need.

All I was doing was charging the battery of the car at my house on a level two charger that was provided by Ford. I got a message on my Ford pass saying High voltage Battery warning. The car stopped charging at 59 percent of the battery capacity. The vehicle has only 2800 miles on it. Also got a power train malfunction/ reduced power warning as well and a service wrench when you turn on the car. This high voltage battery warning is a known issue on 2022 as I had it happen to me while driving it in a turn as I own one of those as well. But this is the 2023 that is not recalled. I have parked it outside of my garage as if the battery is getting hot enough to where it will stop charging this puts these vehicles all at the risk of something called thermal runaway. I do now know why this is not mentioned or even talked about with these types of batteries but basically, this happens when one cell goes into thermal runaway from being too hot and can melt the car. This is a huge safety concern. I have complained about it multiple times but have been ignored. I have parked my vehicle outside of my garage as I fear it may go into thermal away. I will take it to the dealer tomorrow. Please fix this NHSTA it's still not fixed. Happened to my 2022 Mustang Mach E with an extended-range battery now it's happening to my 2023 Mustang Mach e with an extended battery neither of which is part of the recall. Brakes grind when coming to a stop at low speed or may not disengage from a stop at low accelerator input. Note auto hold/parking brake feature disabled. Appears to be oxidation and rough surfaces on brake rotors. Car has approximately 2700 miles and has done this since new.
