I bought a used 2011 Ford Fusion 1 year ago with 91,000 miles on it. When I took it for a test drive, the brakes were fine. After I bought it and drove it for a few days, I noticed that when I was in stop and go traffic, the brakes weren't engaging as soon - and the brake pedal would have to be pressed much further down towards the floor before engaging. It only happened once in a while, but as the year went on, it was happening more and more often to the point that we are afraid to drive it. We brought it in to our mechanic who is very knowledgeable. He said that the issue is with the hydraulic control unit (ABS part), and he said that it looks to be like the exact issue covered in the current recall for 2006-2010 models. The mechanic has had it in his shop for two months as we wait for the parts to become available as they are on a national back order. The fact that these parts are on a national back order with lots of people waiting in line to purchase them tells me that my car is not the only one out there having this problem. I have researched on several forums online and am seeing multiple people reporting the same problem on their 2011 Fusions. This is an extremely scary situation because the brakes can just go out on you completely without any warning at all, working fine one minute and then completely gone the next. I refuse to put my life in danger to continue driving this car due to the safety concern, and am not sure how to handle this financially since I am makin

Subject: Safety Complaint Regarding Ford Motor Company's Safety Recall 14S06 Dear NHTSA, I am writing to submit a safety complaint regarding the power steering issue covered under Safety Recall 14S06 issued by Ford Motor Company for certain 2011-2013 model year Ford Explorer vehicles. I own a 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid with a VIN 3FADP0L39BR178615 On 03/23, I experienced a sudden loss of power steering assist while driving my vehicle. The instrument cluster message center displayed a warning message, and a chime sounded to alert me of the issue. As a result, the steering effort significantly increased, particularly at lower speeds, which posed a safety risk and made it challenging to maneuver the vehicle safely. Upon investigation, I discovered that Ford Motor Company had issued Safety Recall 14S06 due to concerns related to power steering operation in affected vehicles. The recall mentioned that the power steering system might revert to manual steering mode due to a Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) detecting a motor position sensor fault. Unfortunately, my vehicle's mileage had exceeded 150,000 miles, and I was unaware of the recall at that time. I understand that the extended coverage provided under Program 15N01, as part of the recall, applies only up to 150,000 miles or within 10 years of service from the warranty start date, whichever comes first. Regrettably, my vehicle has surpassed the mileage limit specified in the extended coverage program. Given the safety implica

The master cylinder has gone out 3 times within 6mo of repair and warranty repair. Yes, it was confirmed and repaired by Goodyear Auto Service Center both previous times. I have the receipt to the warranty repair. The third time just happened last night. The vehicle has a current state inspection sticker. No warning light or symptoms at all. When driving without warning the brakes go to the floor and it’s harder to stop when driving. Yes the vehicle can be inspected upon request. Last night I was approving the corner of an intersection. My destination was a store on the corner. My speed was approximately 40-45 and I began to slow down by not accelerating. As I became closer to the driveway I began braking at which point almost immediately I felt what I can best describe as a disconnect, almost a pop of release like. At this point the brakes immediately went to the floor and I was scared I wasn’t going to be able to stop. I pumped the brakes and was able to slow the car down and turn in.

Door handle mechanism made of plastic and breaks, preventing the locking and opening of door from the inside. The inability to leave your car without opening the door from the outside poses a serious safety risk to the driver and passenger in the need to exit a car quickly during emergency situations. This is a common occurrence from the self-repair videos I found online, and the method of failure and the symptoms of failure seem to be the same. My failure occurred when trying to pull the handle quickly breaks the plastic latch inside the mechanism and prevents the door from opening upon pulling the handle.

The 3rd time that an abs event has caused the brake peddle to go extremely soft. Eventually pressure in the peddle will regain after several weeks. The issue I'm experiencing is identical to Ford's Safety Recall 19S54 which states an issue with sticky abs valves and a loss of pressure in the braking system. I'm not sure why this vin is not included in the recall but I would really appreciate an NHTSA ordered recall as this can be an highly expensive fix that should have been included in Ford's recall, in my opinion. Thank you for considering.

My vehicle is a 2011 Ford Fusion, with 165,000 miles on it. When leaving my apartment, as soon as I got on the highway and went above 15 mph my car violently started to shake, I immediately pulled over safely and got out to check around and under the car. Got back in and put it back in drive. Started to drive and it once again started to violently shake. I immediately pulled over again and called to have it towed. Once able I tried to get Ford to look at it but they said the next appointment was 2 months out. I had another mechanic look at it and he said the PTU had failed and would need a full removal and installation of the transfer case. With all the work that needed done he said it would be over 4K. I don’t have that kind of money right now because I just had tire rods replace and ball joints so I’m just going to have to wait. Having been without a car has been so difficult. I searched online and found that many drivers of the Ford Fusion as well as other models are experiencing issues with the PTU. Again, I don’t have this money right now so unfortunately I’ll have to have the car sit at my place until I figure out what to do. When I called the Ford dealer, he said he has seen several PTUs go out. It’s just frustrating because I always keep up with maintenance with my vehicle, as well as tires. I don’t race my vehicle or anything so this shouldn’t be happening.

What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
