Without any warning after hitting a small bump on a newly paved highway I had extreme violent shaking in the front suspension after hitting small bump on hwy going approx 60mph, truck shook violently, steering almost unresponsive, had to emergency slow to 25mph in very heavy accident almost rear ended in last incident.. This has happened 2x in the past 6 months 12/21/2021, 8/22/2021. Truck has 12,700 miles on it. I am planning on taking into the Ford dealership after January 1st in 2022 for evaluation.I believe people are calling this a death wobble.

Right after we bought the truck after 35000 miles in 2017 it started to have the *death wobble* . After bringing it to the shop several times, they finally replaced during extended warranty at ~72000 miles steering damper, ball joints and some parts. This prevented the death wobble for about 30000 miles...and then after that it progressively worsens now. After contacting the dealership who did the replacements...we were told that the warranty on it expired.. This should be a recall from Ford

Two days in a row while driving 80 miles an hour on I-15, I drove over a rough spot in the road and the truck (steering wheel) immediately began wobbling violently and did not stop until I slowed down to about 20 miles per hour. Vehicles behind me had to switch lanes to over my truck. I took the truck to the local Ford dealer and reported the issue. They said this has been an avoid me as I quickly slowed down to maintain control issue on this model and told me what repairs were needed to fix the problem. I paid over $1000 out of my own pocket for the repair which I believe should have been covered by the manufacturer.

I have experienced a "death wobble " 3 times in this truck. The last being today. I have my truck in Cruz doing between 70/80 . When I hit an expansion joint on a bridge It feels like violent shaking in the front axle to the point of losing control. It has been happening at the same spot all 3 times and I can probably cause it to happen at will. In that spot of the interstate. It only stops if you slow down immediately! Very dangerous when in traffic!

Violent death wobble on highway. It is so bad other cars on highway slam on brakes to get away from our truck. We are experiencing some loss of control when it happens. Truck has been repaired once in the past for this and now it has started happening again. Took it to dealership that did original repairs and they claimed was not able to replicate. It then happened again for us and we have an appt at a second dealership to inspect. There are no warning lights when it happens just violent shaking after crossing a small transition bump on highway 285 in Atlanta

I was driving on Interstate 94 w of Minneapolis and my vehicle started wobbling violently and I couldn't steer. I had to pull off the highway, checked vehicle as I thought I had a flat tire. No flat, tires were all OK. I proceeded and had no additional problem. When I researched on the internet I found the problem is called a "Death Wobble". My ford F250 had 70,536 miles on it and I have it serviced at regular intervals. I read on the internet this is a common problem in F250"s and Ford refuses to do anything about it.

While driving on a very busy interstate at highway speeds, I went over cracks/bumps in the road. Immediately the front end started to violently shake to the point I thought I could lose control at any moment. The only corrective action was to slow down to around 40 MPH on the highway. Other drivers around me must have seen I was having trouble and got out of my way. This has happened to me numerous times with this truck and acting in the same manner. I have been lucky it did not happen in a curve or bad weather. I have contacted my local Ford Dealer for an appointment, evaluation and assistance. This incident could have ended badly by slowing down on the busy highway and everyone around me driving 70+ MPH. I wonder if any of the other F250 owners with this problem has undergone this shaking in inclement weather.

On Tues Nov 16, 2021 evening we discovered our Ford f-250 super duty diesel 6.7L on fire. Fire department was dispatched. They extinguished the fire and they determined that it was most likely the engine block heater (It was plugged in because of 0 degree temps that evening). The GFCI breaker was tripped. Upon later research, I found the NHTSA safety recall report 18v-894 dated Dec 18, 2018 found that the vehicle's engine block heater cable is susceptible to moisture accumulation and subsequent fire because of these factors: a female connector angled upwards at 45 degree or greater angle, a low mounting position in the vehicle, and an unshielded or exposed mounting location. On 5/30/2019 we took the vehicle into our local Ford service dealer because of recall #18s45 and they disabled the block heater. On Oct 28, 2019 we responded to recall 19g01and took the vehicle again into the dealer because they reported they had the fix. At that time they replaced the cord on the existing block heater. Consequently, 2 years later, our vehicle succumbed to a catastrophic total loss fire because Ford's recall solution was to simply replace the cord, not to actually address the root cause of the problem, which was the low mounting location and susceptibility to corrosion of the terminals in cold climates. Ford is not cooperating with our requests for them to help us. They advised us that they will no longer be addressing this matter, that they are not going to get involved in helping with o

If I hit a bump or grooved part of the road the front of the truck starts shaking violently. I have to slow way down or come to a near complete stop. This has terrifying while on the interstate towing my 5th wheel or 24 foot enclosed car trailer. I have taken it to the dealer for a "recall repair" the only thing the dealership did was replace the steering damper. This is a mask for a severe issue! As soon as I left the dealership the problem reared its ugly head again. I called them immediately and scheduled to take it back in on 12 Nov 21. During the conversation with the service department the employee told me they would replace the steering damper again. I am waiting till the appointment to see. This had been an ongoing issue since I purchased the vehicle used in Feb or Mar of 2020.

I had to slow down to 45 mph for it to go away. It happened again about 20 minutes later and I had to go off the interstate to drop the speed below 55 mph. I have experienced the "Death Wobble" experienced by many during my internet research into the violent shaking and oscillation of the front wheels at speeds in excess of 50 MPH. The condition occurs routinely on approach and departure from bridges where the concrete slabs have subsided causing a "pothole" effect, on pavement patches, and potholes. The violent oscillation and shaking can cause temporary loss of control. I had to slow down to a dangerously low speed in congested interstate traffic for the conditon to subside.

This is in regards to the Ford "death wobble" that occurs at under normal driving conditions where the vehicle rattles to violently it is not able to be controlled or operated safely. This has happened numerous times and with greater frequency. Ford will only replace the steering dampener, which they have, and it did not fix the problem. If anything it made it worse. Ford also does not consider this a warranty issue, and will not even address it as compensated work. This is likely because Ford knows that this is a major design flaw and it is cheaper to stiff customers than pay to make it right.

Currently have experienced the "death wobble" for the third time. Ford dealer has fixed it twice and I have a current complaint that remains unresolved although my vehicle has an extended warranty and is well within that warranty period. 2017 F250 purchased new on 9/30/17. First occurrence in October 2019 with a trip to the dealer 11-7-19 (31,830 miles); dealer had the vehicle approximately 3 months before the repair was complete. Second occurrence in March 2020 with a trip to the dealer 4/15/20 (35,239 miles). Third occurrence on 9-30-2021 and 10-1-2021 and remains unaddressed by Ford and unsolved (62,500 miles). Dealerships are claiming excessive wait times to check out vehicles (4 to 8 weeks COVID is to blame from their perspective), meanwhile we have an unsafe vehicle that cannot and will not be driven until this is fixed. It has been reported to the dealer we purchased from and to Ford Customer Relationship Department multiple times. It is my understanding that this problem has existed for approximately 15 years; why has something not ben put in place to permanently fix this issue? My wife was in Louisiana bringing home family after the hurricane when the dangerous death wobble occurred while pulling a trailer; the violent shaking prevented emergency braking (this made it worse) and they were fortunate to be able to direct the truck and trailer onto the shoulder of the Interstate to avoid an accident. Ford has replaced the steering stabilizer at least two times and it reoccurs within 4,000 miles. I’ve spent countless hours online trying to remedy this problem. I recently replaced the drag link and the associated tie rod end (The OEM ones had minimal play but I wanted to rule out any possibilities), changed to a Bilstein steering stabilizer and 4 new Bilstein shocks. Unfortunately, on are recent 150 mile trip we had two terrifying Death Wobble experiences that we came very close both times having an accident. Today we were actually forced to go into highway median to avoid being pulled into other high speed traffic. I’m including pictures of the tire marks of this incident. Death Wobble on numerous occasions. I first took it to Ford and put some "dampener" on it to fix it. I noticed that the truck still vibrated, but did not go into the death wobble immediately.4-5 months later, a worse death wobble started. It always happens when you hit a bridge abutment paving transition. The violent shaking does not stop until you slow way down. I have had to leave the road twice due to 18 wheelers behind me. It is so bad now, vehicles around me can see the violent shaking and move over and get away from me. This is an extremely dangerous event. If a younger driver freaks out and lets go of the steering wheel, deaths will be inevitable.

When driving at highway speeds and encountering a bump in the road, the steering wheel would begin to vibrate violently, nearly causing loss of control of the vehicle. This would happen nearly every time I would drive the vehicle at highway speeds. After a few time of this happening, the steering wheel started to have continuous slight side to side vibration even while driving on smooth surfaces. After multiple repairs at my expense ( replacing steering dampener twice, track bar and drag links), the problem still exists, and the manufacturer (Ford Motor Company) refuses to even acknowledge that the problem exists, much less correct the problem and reimburse for previous failed repairs.

I have experienced multiple occasions of issues with the power tailgate release on my 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty truck. In most cases, the problem exhibits as a failure to open when the button is pushed, but what I believe makes it a safety issue is that on two separate occasions, the tailgate has opened while driving down the highway, without the open button being pressed. This could result in items being carried in the vehicle falling into the roadway at highway speeds, which could result in serious injuries or death to other drivers on the roadway.

On 3-19-21 I was going to visit my daughter in TN. While driving on Interstate 81 I hit a bump and my Ford F250 experienced the infamous "death wobble". This happened out of the blue, with with no warning. This happened 2 more times and the oscillation was so intense that my truck bounced into the fast lane. So I called my daughter and asked her to call Ford dealers in Knoxville so I could get this fixed. She told me the internet said it is less likely to occur when driving slower so I dropped to 60 mph. I still had 3 more occurences. She contacted several dealerships and they had the part (a steering stabilizer shock) but would not schedule me in for 2-3 weeks. So she finally located a dealer in Sweetwater TN that could schedule me in but did not have the part. So I had to purchase the part from one dealer and take it to a second dealer to have it installed. Total $186.44. I was grateful that Sweetwater installed the part but they took advantage of me and charged $115 for 25 minutes of work. I'm told this is only a temporary fix and just today Ford refunded me the money for the incident. My truck is dealer maintained and only has 30K miles on it, but it is out of the 36 month time frame. Ford has issued multiple bulletins on this citing excuses like improper tire inflation and tires out of balance etc. I called the Ford customer service hotline, when I couldn't get the repairs done in a timely manner, and the CSR told me she did not know how to help me. After discussing incident with co-workers that also own F250's they have experienced same issue which is also known as "Death Wobble". My truck has a front-end suspension shudder when I travel over 60 mph. I've been told it's the early stages of a condition known as the "Death Wobble". Over the last 3 months I've had the tires replaced 2 times and balanced numerous times to make sure the shudder is not caused by the tires. The tires are not the issue... it's a suspension problem. I became aware of the Death Wobble about a month ago. The Ford Dealerships are well aware of the issue. Ford issued a TSB (now expired) to replace the Steering Stabilizers. Ford's TSB - replacing the Steering Stabilizers - is a temporary solution. I believe the Death Wobble is a design defect with the Ford F-250, 350, 450 trucks, in particular those manufactured from 2017 to today. The Death Wobble is a serious problem and WILL cause accidents, injury, and death. My truck has not yet gotten bad enough to cause me to loose control. I believe this is a serious design defect. I urge NHTSA to take action and insist that Ford recall the trucks that may encounter this condition. Ford needs to correct this problem.
