On 03/19/2022 at about noon I was driving my F-250 eastbound on SR 60 (Courtney Campbell CSWY) headed to Tampa, FL. this was a Saturday & the area was very congested. The speed limit is 60 mph. I was traveling about 50 to 55 mph. Suddenly the truck started to vibrate at a rate that it actually bounced or jumped on the road. It was everything I could do to maintain control & get the vehicle slowed down & off the highway. I thought I had a wheel(s) coming off the vehicle. I inspected the tires/wheels/overall vehicle before getting back on the road & returning home. On Monday 03/21/2022 I contacted Ferman Ford in Clearwater, FL to get it in for service to determine what is the problem. Ferman Ford could not get to my truck until 03/29/2022. I then went on-line to see if anyone else has had a similar problem. I found a number of articles that spoke to the F-250 & F-350 having a problem called the "DEATH WOBBLE". What was described in these articles is exactly what I experienced. It was so violent that my wife (who was with me when this occurred) is now not comfortable with riding in my truck. Needing the use of my truck & not able to replace it I authorized the repairs & am now stuck with a $2433.64 bill that Ford will not accept as there problem...defect. I am very disappointed in corporate Ford for not doing a recall & resolving this on going problem that has possible life & injury impacts.

On four seperate occasions while driving at approximately 65 mph, (twice in a turn and twice on a straight section), and after hitting some bumps in the road, the front end started shaking and then quickly went into violent shaking. Each time I had to slow down to a stop. Each time I was concerned that I was going to crash. The most recent date (and the most violent shaking) is listed below.

DEATH WOBBLE. I experienced the death wobble for the first time a few days ago on a road that I drive twice a day. This road has bumps in the road when you are heading west, but I was heading east and have never experienced any kind of steering issue when traveling that direction. The truck started shaking as the front springs and shock absorbers were fighting against each other. The steering wheel was uncontrollable. The only way to stop the wobble was to slow down to a near stop. Ford needs to issue a recall on this issue, as it is a safety hazard to the driver, passengers, and other vehicles on the road.

On more than one occasion I experienced a violent shaking while driving on highway speeds. The incident happened out of no where. I had my child in the backseat so I tried to slow down quickly not sure if made it worse but the shaking / wobbling didn’t stop till came to a complete stop. I was in fear of our safety so i got of the highway pulled aside and checked my superduty for suspension or steering issues. Everything thing looked normal so i decided to get back on the road. Truck seemed fine again. Didn’t think much of it till it happened again, same deal very scary. I did do a bit of research online and found out that this was a common problem with Ford super duty models. This is 2022 why hasn’t this been addressed? Do people have to die before Ford is held accountable? This is my work truck Mon-Fri and my family truck the rest of the time. I will get this repaired at my expense in order to keep my family safe. Please do something about this. Make Ford responsible for selling trucks that are dangerous to drive.

This vehicle, in March 2021, experienced what's known as the "death wobble". It occurs after hitting seams in the road at highway speeds (65 mph+). It causes violent shaking of the front end until the vehicle slows down (usually under ~ 55mph). All recommended service was done to the vehicle prior to the experience. The recommended remedy was performed (replaced steering damper and stabilizer bar). Effective March 1, 2022 and approximately 2000 miles later, the wobble has returned. The vehicle is currently at the dealership (where purchased and all maintenance done).

I’ve been experiencing the death wobble, which is a violent shaking that happens to the front end of my Ford F250 Super Duty trucks. It typically occurs at speeds over 50 miles per hour. It also happens after going over bumps or grooves in the road. To stop the shaking, I must quickly slow way down or even stop completely. It’s terrifying, especially when I’m driving with my 2 children in the truck.

On two occasions was traveling on the interstate and the truck began to violently shake uncontrollably. Had to slow way down almost causing myself to be rear-ended on one occasion and the other time it shifted the truck in the other lane. Both situations caused me to have NO CONTROL of my vehicle. My wife is afraid for my safety and others while driving on the interstate because of this issue. There is no warning before it happens.

At highway speeds if you hit a bump the front end goes into a wobble that translates to the steering wheel. If you slow down the problem stops .This has happened to me twice in the last 3 weeks. Incredibly dangerous especially in a 10,000 lb truck at 70 mph, and if you were towing something it could be catastrophic. I went online and found hundreds of people complaing about the exact same problem with their 2005 - 2019 F250 and F350's. Does someone need to get killed before Ford is forced to address the issue ????

A common, but irregular violent shaking of the steering after I go over a bump in the road of come off an overpass. Sometimes it happens once in a week, sometimes it will happen 2 times in 2 miles. The problem doesn't occur under 45 MPH. It is so dangerous that I don't want anyone driving my truck except me, in case this happens again. Very scary. Very dangerous.

The truck suddenly shakes violently when hitting a dip in the road around 50 to 60 mph. You must hit the brakes and slow considerably to stabilize the truck. This is extremely dangerous and is a Ford design issue. My son has a new F250 and it does the exact same thing. This has happened to me 4 times within the last 6 mos.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was damaged during the incident and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,330. Consumer has tried working with FORD directly, but they continue to insist that FORD does NOT add VINS to recalls. They insist that this is done by the NHTSA. The NHTSA insists that VINS are added to a recall by the manufacturer. We’re caught between a rock and a hard place. All we are asking is that someone look at the specific details of our FORD F150 to confirm that this vehicle should have been included in the recall and reimburse us the ~$7400 we paid to repair this truck with very low mileage. Also, sister-in-law wrote out the complaint trying to assist them for reimbursement for out of pocket costs.

It hits a small bump in the road an it shakes so hard that I ave to jerk the wheel hard one direction an slam on the brakes to make it stop. Normally it happens around 60-65. When it starts shaking if I am in traffic it is scary. Have to pull over to the side of road. I think I only have 80k miles on the thing. It is random. Sometimes it does it for no reason, sometimes you hit a bump an nothing happens. Once it starts nothing will stop it but to slow down really slow. I thought it was maybe a tire out of balance so I had them rotated an thought it fixed it. The only way to keep it from shaking now is to not drive it.

I was driving on I275 in Cincinnati, Oh. during morning rush hour. Traffic was very heavy and there were many cars close behind me. My speed was probably 70 mph. The highway took a turn to the left as I approached a bridge transition. Upon hitting the transition, the steering wheel was literally torn out of my hands and the vibration made me wonder if the front suspension had broken the vibration was so severe. I immediately responded with heavy braking and to this day, I can't imagine how countless cars didn't run into me from behind. I finally was able to regain control of the truck when my speed dropped below 30 mph and I pulled off the road into the center median at which point several cars following me displayed the middle finger salute as they passed by. I can't blame them. Thankfully, the event did not lead to a multi car chain reaction accident. This truck with these issues is a death trap. At the time of the incident, the truck had 17,500 miles on it.

At highway speeds the truck will start shaking violently with what seems to be referred to as the Death Wobble online. This started in may of this year. The truck has been to the dealer to fix this issue at least 3 times and is there again. I will obtain the paperwork from the dealer. I have video's of this, one from May 11 prior to the first fix, one on June 25th after the next fix and another one on August 28th. Prior to the August 28th video, the Dealer had made contact with Ford on June 25th to start a hotline case. Ford and the dealer said it's ok to keep driving it and not to bring it back to them until July 13th. After dropping this truck off on the 13th, they kept the truck until August 27th because they were working with Ford. This vehicle is not safe to drive. When it starts the death wobble, it will not stop before slowing down below 50 mph, in some cases even further than that. It is not something that would come thru in pictures but I can send you links to the video's I have.

I was traveling down Hwy 75 north at 70to 75 mph when i hit a series of bumps in succession and it sent the truck into a highspeed wobble which would not stop. I changed lanes thinking it was the road but it continued making steering difficult. I slowed down rapidly and moved off the road in traffic to a stop finally on the shoulder. Everything checked out and I proceeded on my way. This was very abnormal it was a excessively violent shake that did not stop until I stopped.

Death wobble. This has happened several times now. I was driving down the highway, hit a bump, and the truck started to violently shake. I had to reduce speed to 30 mph before 8 could get it back under control and the shaking to stop. My service center replaced the tie rods, stabilizer bar, shocks and struts. None of this has resolved the issue. And it seems random as to when it happens. I can hit all kinds of potholes and bumps in the road and nothing happens. But when it does happen, you lose complete control of the vehicle.

This is the second 2015 Ford F-250 we have driven with the death wobble. The first one was a test drive before we purchased the one we have. We were driving it on the interstate and hit a bump and it started shaking profusely and was very scary. I could see this causing a very bad accident. We figured this one had something severely wrong with it and wasn't in the best condition. It has 60K on it. The we have now has 150K on it and about 5K ago it did the same thing. We took it in for repairs and they replaced the components in the steering that seemed to be of issue. The issue is better but still has a bad shake in the front end when hitting a bump. This seems to be very common with these trucks up to model year 2019. Ford should issue a recall and fix the problem with these trucks.

While driving on the freeway the truck just started violently shaking uncontrollably. The only way to stop it was to reduce the speed and to try and exit the freeway safely. The 1st time this happened was in May 2021 and since than it has happened about a dozen times. I have been replacing parts left and right trying to fix the issue, but each time we replace what we think is causing the problem it happens again. While driving to PA for work this weekend (July 22nd-July25th, 2021) it happened 3 separate times, it's very unsafe and scary as hell, when it happens. So we googled "f250's shaking violently" and was amazed at what popped up. The "Ford Death Wobble", that describes what happened to us to a T. I can't believe Ford hasn't issued a recall for this, knowing all the facts. If possible when we replace parts on our car, it's with Ford Dealer ship replacement parts.

There is a severe fuel leak when the fuel pump is powered on from a fitting on the top of the fuel tank. This is the second time it has happened to me. first instance was supposedly repaired at the dealership who suggested it was a freak occurrence possibly caused by some road trash kicked up but there was no hard evidence either offered or given even though I asked. When the tow truck came to pick up my truck the driver mentioned that this is not an isolated incident that is becoming more common. The potential for a fire and/or explosion is very great in my opinion.

The contact stated their husband was driving at 70 mph, the vehicle was in cruise control and the driver attempted to get out of cruise control by depressing on the brakes, however, the cruise control did not disengage and the vehicle began to accelerate. The driver attempted to manually turn off the cruise control from the steering wheel but it failed and continued to accelerate. The contact attempted shifting out of the drive gear shift position and taking the key out of the ignition to turn off the vehicle but the vehicle still was accelerating in speed which caused the vehicle to crash and hit the rear end of the vehicle in front. Both of the driver's feet were on the brake pedal where excessive force was used but the vehicle continued to accelerate leading to a crash. The contact mentioned that the vehicle independently increased in speed up to 100 MPH or more during the failure. The vehicle was finally able to stop once it crashed into a guard rail. While driving on Interstate 10 just past SR129 in Florida my cruise control disengaged and my throttle pedal began working intermittently.Since there was no exit for about 12 miles I proceeded at the speed I could (less than 50 MPH) to the next exit. I was able to limp in to the ford dealer in Lake City. He looked at the truck, noted the brake lights stayed on and informed me that a little plastic tab had broken that pushed the brake light switch to the off position. He further informed me that Ford does not sell that little plastic bumper and that the whole brake pedal assembly would have to be replaced. Part cost ~$300 + $500 labor or about $800. I said no thanks and limped the vehicle home on the back roads since it was too dangerous to try to drive 40 - 50 mph on the interstate Apparently, this is a common problem with late model Fords That presents a Safety issue and a major expense for no justifiable reason. The safety issue being that the engine throttle disengages every 10 - 20 seconds while driving only due to the brake lights being on. This can cause rear end collision and other accidents for no good reason. The monetary issue is Ford charging $800 when a $3 dollar plastic bumper would solve the problem that should not have happened to start with. TRUCK IS UNCONTROLLABLE UNTIL SPEED HAS BEEN DRASTICALLY REDUCED. DOING SO IS A HAZARD IN ITSELF FOR SURROUNDING TRAFFIC. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND DOES NOT IDENTIFY IT AS A PROBLEM. UP TO NOW THERE HAS ONLY BEEN INCIDENTS AND CRASHES WITH OR WITHOUT INJURY. NO FATALITIES LOGGED. MY PERSONAL OPINION IS THEY WILL WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED BEFORE TAKING ACTION. BY OFFICIALLY REPORTING THIS TO NHTSA, I AS WELL AS THE MANY OTHERS ARE HOPING THAT FORD WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND INITIATE A CAMPAIGN TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE. I HAVE REPLACED TIRES, SHOCKS TWICE, STEERING STABILIZER DAMPENER, REBALANCED, REALIGNED AND HAD A COMPLETE BRAKE ROTOR AND SHOE REPLACEMENT (ALL 4) TO NO AVAIL. I'M IN WELL OVER $2500 SO FAR AND STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS. I WORK 78 MILES FROM MY RESIDENCE SO I'M LOGGING WELL OVER 150 MILES PER DAY.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
