When I go to accelerate fast the check engine light comes on and the car shakes a little and won’t accelerate at all. This is a saftey issue because I almost caused an accident several times. And this is the second F150 eco boost I have had in a year with the exact same problem

Ford issued a TSB 22-2428, May 26, 2023 and not a recall for defective transmission. I own a 2019 F150 that with the 10 speed transmission. Over my warranted period the truck was taken to the dealership over 21 times regarding shifting problem. Ford said there is nothing wrong with the transmission that is just how they shift. Now 2025 I told the truck back to dealership with this TSB paper. The tech said yes, this whole transmission needs replaced so they contacted Ford and so did I. Ford told me the truck is out of warranty and I would have to replace the transmission at my expense. After explaining to Ford this truck was taken in under warranty and they failed to address the transmission and told me it was find to come and find out I was lied to like many other that there was a defects in these transmissions. Ford told me, were sorry but we wont pay for the transmission to be replaced even though they put defective 10 speed transmissions in my truck and failed to address it over the 21 time I took it to the dealership under warranty. Ford has lie about this 10 speed transmission over and over to all its customer, and issued a TSB instead of a recall so now they can make the customer pay again to have a defected transmission that shouldn't have been defective from the beginning. Make Ford issues a recall on this matter and stop letting them get away with a simple TSB since Ford knows the owner are out of warranty.
Transmission randomly shifts from 10th gear to 1st. This puts my life and other peoples life’s at risk. This also will destroy the engine and transmission over time

The contact was advised to contact the manufacturer to report the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
Transmission clunks when upshifting after going uphill onto level surface, when accelerating after briefly slowing transmission makes noticeable clunking noise. Dealer checked this issue in 2024 but did not find any issues with the transmission. This issue with the transmission has gotten worse since the visit to the dealership to address the complaint. There have never been any warning lights that indicated a problem. There is now a slight hesitation when upshifting which I feel will only get worse over time.
The cam phaser broke off on my 2019 Ford F150 Raptor. From reading online this is a common occurrence

When driving the truck under normal conditions, truck will randomly shift unintentionally from gear to gear (ie. 3-8-1) not following typical shifting pattern, causing loss of power temporarily to the truck and sometimes the rear tires lock up due to the transmission shifting issue. I have had the rear tires lock up momentarily at speeds at approximately 50km/h. Truck has 10-speed transmission.

All of a sudden I lost almost all braking. Brake light came on and a message saying low brake fluid prompted on screen. I see this was recalled for the 3.5l ecoboost. Why wouldn’t this be recalled for the 2.7l eco boost? Reading online it seems I had the same problem other people had.
Vehicle changes gear from 10-1 at highway speeds, transmission begins to overheat, looses power when going from 1st gear to third gear after a stop at a light or stop 🛑 sign. I’ve had several near miss accidents in the past month. Ford will not offer any assistance or fix the problem for a vehicle with 104,000
My rear view camera freezes up when reversing, I think there is no one behind my truck because there is a still picture of the 1st image. It's hard enough backing up full size trucks without a camera, but it's even worse when the camera shows no one is behind me and at times there have been. I've asked the dealer where I bought the vehicle, but they always say "There's no recall on your year for this problem".
Driving at 45mph and 55 mph the trucks transmission gets confused on which gear to be in and up shifts then down shifts back and forth then downshifts 2 gears and locks up the rear wheels and causes a uncontrollable lock up and skid
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. After the vehicle reached normal driving temperature, the rattling sound ceased; however, the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the cam phasers. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 74,000.
The truck would just shut off while driving or not start whenever you need it to. It acts like a dead battery but the battery is fine. It has been at the dealership for 45 days plus straight for this issue. When it cuts out, we lose all steering all breaking all power. I’m very lucky it hasn’t taken my life or one of my family members lives. There are some innocent person on the road because of The lack of quality and workmanship. In my opinion the truck needs to be recalled because it’s been nothing but a hassle for us.
Cam Phasers were recalled on some 2019 Ford F150 3.5 Ecoboost motor. Ours is having the same issues as others that were recalled but we were never notified of the recall and it doesn't show up for our VIN. Why would it not be on all 2019 Ford F150 3.5 EcoBoost motor?
Issues with transmission hard clunking and or shifting between certain gears. Dealer has inspected transmission, and they confirmed issue. They reset the PCM on the transmission and has not corrected the problem. They recommend rebuild of transmission. No warning lamps.
2019 F-150 experienced harsh shifting between gears causing a severe jerking. The truck also would experience delayed shifts causing loss of ability to accelerate in intersections. On the highway, the vehicle sometimes down shifted unexpectedly from 10th gear to 1st gear causing the truck to lose power slowing to dangerous speeds on a highway. The truck would display "Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power" alert. Vehicle experienced this malfunction multiple times and is now currently at the dealership for repairs since 03/26/25. Dealership diagnosed the problem as a failed transmission.
The Transmission clunks through gears, bangs into reverse at times when backing up but the worst is backing out into the road and wont move . 3 times this has happened, and its dangerous! Ford knows the transmissions are a huge problem but makes people pay up to 6000 dollars to make repairs. For what people pay for a truck this is unacceptable. 2019 with 85,000 miles should not have these issues but everyone has the issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving between fourth and fifth gear, the vehicle experienced hard transmission shifts. The contact stated that the failure increased progressively while driving. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and exceeding 4th gear, the vehicle experienced an unintended transmission downshift to first gear, and the engine revved to 5000-6000 RPMs even though the accelerator pedal was released. Additionally, the rear wheels locked up. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road and parked the vehicle. The contact was able to resume driving; however, the failure recurred several times while driving. The power train warning light was illuminated, and the message "Transmission Failure - See Dealer" was displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to respond upon shifting in reverse(R). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the TCM was rebooted; however, the failure increased. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE25002(Power Train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that only a third of the repair fee would be covered; however, the manufacturer later denied any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
Transmission issues. Sporatically, a wrench would appear on the dash board. (Usually when it was heated.) When accelerating, the truck would stall, safety, yes was a problem. it would shift with a kick back and the engine would reve up, then maybe shift or just stall. the cabin would smell of burnt gas.
The transmission shifts hard and delays when shifting gears. It slips and loses power which shifts hard. Also have o2 sensor issues
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the engine made a rattling sound. No warning light was illuminated. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03 (Cam Phaser Replacement); however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70-75 MPH and pulling a camper, the vehicle started sputtering and lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the head gasket had allowed a leak onto the alternator, causing the alternator to fail. The mechanic replaced the alternator. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where the head gasket was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while the dealer was performing an oil change, the dealer informed the contact that the timing chain cover and the rear main seals were leaking. The dealer determined that the timing cover seals, the rear main seals, and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly jolted and jerked, and displayed symptoms consistent with transmission failure. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 90,000.
I've been having problems with the power train on the F150 10 speed transmission. There are times that the vehicle loses power and the engine speed drops to nearly zero. This has happened on several occasions while I'm driving into an intersection, or ongoing lane. The unexpected loss of acceleration is extremely dangerous as the oncoming vehicles aren't expecting my vehicle to come to a stop. I believe Ford is aware of this problem, yet nothing is being done to alleviate the issue. It can be an expensive repair. They would have to replace the PCM module and reprogram the vehicles electronics. They have offered up alternative fixes, but none of them seem to work and the alternative fix can be expensive to the consumer. The problem started far in advance before my warranty ran out and yet Ford would deny the problem and I couldn't get any Ford dealer to remedy the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
I Have a 2019 ford 150 3.5 eco boost with a 10 speed transmission. I will be driving along with no issues with the vehichle shifting and then all of the sudden it will shift hard, jerk, clunk make noises I have no warning lights or check engine lights, I went to a local parts store and they said that a bad coil pack could cause this issue, however I have brand new coil packs and plugs and the pickup is firing in order. I then had taken it to a local transmission place and they had told me that this transmission should be recalled and possibly needs a software update. Is this something I should pay for if it going to keep happening or should a ford dealership be liable?
Vehicle has just 70,000 on it. Engine light came on after the vehicle was rattling at the engine start and running rough at idle and had power issues when driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where it was diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced and probably the cam phasers. Over $5,200 + in repair costs. Vehicle was taken to an independent service location for repair where the issues were confirmed.
Truck decelerates while on incline. Engine light did come on. Took Car to Bill Brown Ford dealership. has been at dealer since 2/12/25. Code P0305 due to low compression on cylinder #5 110 PSI, #4 121psi all others at 145-150 psi. was informed necessary to replace long block. The truck was purchased with extended service warranty thru Ford ESP. warranty lists engine replacement is covered. however, ESP not covering it. Research on internet states frequent issues with 2.7 liter ecoboost 2019 Ford F150 has common issues with the cylinders requiring engine replacement
Transmission would not engage after stopping at stop sign. Initially accelerated to go thru intersection and truck would not engage any gears and was stuck in the middle of the intersection. Switched gear shift to several gears and drive modes and finally engaged in manual shift. Transmission continued to slip and switch to several gears and skip several gears until arriving at destinations regular drive gear selection. Did not see any issues under the vehicle after parking and fluids appear to be clean and filled up to normal levels. Made appointment immediately for service.
I was driving on the highway at 80mph with the truck in 10th gear and it downshifted to 1st gear and would not shift back to 10th and slowed down rapidly. This problem is since repeating and now unable to be driven.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the engine was idling roughly. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 21N03. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
Was driving at highway speeds when transmission unexpectedly shifted from 10th gear into first gear. It lurched the truck back hard, almost losing control. Speed was decreased and then brought back to 70mph. This is then when the truck shifted back from first into 10th held at 10th for a little bit and then did it again shifting from 10th into 1st lurching the truck back. The service light from the transmission came on after this. I pulled over and looked under the truck and saw it leaking transmission fluid. I then turned the truck off and on and put it back into gear and tried reverse, it didn’t go into reverse so I tuned it off and on again and reverse came back. I had the truck towed to a dealership where they inspected the transmission and replaced parts in it. After being there for 2 months waiting on the parts I finally got it back. I know Ford has had investigations in the past for the 6 speeds transmissions unexpectedly shifting. And I now know they’re being investigated again for newer models in the 6 and 10 speed transmissions.
10 speed power train down shifts when trying to increase in speed. throw me almost into windshield. The Purvis ford would not even take it in to fix it. had to take it in a transmission shop at cost 8K for new power train. they claim they seen hundreds of the 10 speed in for repair.
Truck was going down the highway at 75mph when the transmission went from 10th gear to 1st. I have videos of this happening several times and then eventually a gear symbol appeared on dash. From day 1 when I bought the truck new it would have a hard time shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. It would lung forward or not even shift and the truck would just roll forward trying to figure out what gear it is in. I've taken the truck in to multiple dealers and all they would ever do is reset the computer. Once I took the truck in for the 10th to 1st gear issue. I told the new dealership I went to about the 3 and 4 issue. The service advisor said his trcuk had the same issue and he was able to get it fixed under warranty but I was already out of the warranty so they couldn't do anything about the 3 and 4 issue. For the shifting from 10 to 1. They rebuilt the transmission and put some locking device to keep fluid flowing into the case. Since the repair that I had to pay out of pocket for. I still have the 3 and 4 shifting problem. Only happens on cold starts when I'm accelerating up or down a hill. The new issue I'm now having is a hard shifting into reverse. Ford keeps telling me I don't qualify for any reimbursement because I'm outside of the warranty limit, even though, the truck every time I took into a Ford dealership for oil changes, I would complain about the transmission and they would just say it's a known issue but nothing they can do about it. Also after the transmission rebuilt
Vehicle will downshift from 10th gear to 1st gear at highway speeds. Vehicle lunges forward after stoplight restarts. 3rd to 4th and 9th to 10th gear shifts are extremely delayed and transmission slips during shifts. Transmission makes very loud noises and clunks when driven. Transmission lags and delays when going into reverse.
Loss of power steering resulting in steering gear needing to be replaced.
My 2019 F-150, which has less than 60,000 miles, has a bent valve in the 2.7L EcoBoost engine. Bent valves are a known issue for this model engine that has led to a recall for similar engines. Despite being outside the 5-year warranty period, my vehicle is within the mileage limit that Ford sets as a marker for major issues. After contacting Ford Care to request they cover the cost of this premature failure, I waited for over a month to receive their offer. It was for about $4400 of a $10,000+ cost. The partial coverage offered is not sufficient given the circumstances. It's important for Ford to stand by its products and support customers facing problems due to manufacturing defects. Especially with engine models, like mine, that have had so many issues that the company no longer makes or uses that engine model. A recap: • The service advisor at Rick Ridings (my Ford service dealership in Monticello, IL) acknowledges that a vehicle with such low mileage should not have a bent valve and require such extensive, premature repairs. • I’ve found years of reports from other Ford owners in online forums talking about valve issues with this model engine. Early failures of the 2.7L EcoBoost engines were traced to fractured intake valves that caused significant engine damage. • Ford had a massive recall on EcoBoost 2.7L engines from 2021 to 2022 where the issues were with intake valves made from a material not being up to spec. • Today, Ford no longer uses this engine – a decision I'd
The truck periodically has hard upshifts and downshifts. This has occurred several times a month over the last 5 years.
During acceleration the transmission will fail to engage during different gear changes. The motor will high rev as it is a failed transmission shift which, it is just that.
Transmission rebuild at 58000 miles
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 - 70 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly shifted into reverse. There was white smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle near the engine compartment. The contact depressed the brake pedal to assist with the vehicle slowing down to be able to pull over to the side of the road where the vehicle came to a stop. The vehicle lost power and failed to restart. The contact poured water onto the engine to assist with dissipating the smoke and cooling the engine. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle; however, the contact was unsure of the diagnostic results. The contact was informed that additional diagnostic tests were needed. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000.
I bought pre owned 2019 f150 5.0 with the 10 speed transmission. The truck didn’t even make it home from the dealer. Transmission was leaking fluid and lights came on. Shift would go from 10th to 1st gear.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
