I was driving on the highway at 75 mph when the vehicle went into limp mode. All gauges on the cluster stopped working, the odometer readout became dashes, the wrench icon flashed on the gauge cluster, there was no throttle response, and the transmission was stuck in third gear. I experienced a down shift from 6th gear to 3rd while coasting from from the left lane to the right shoulder. No DTCs were registered. I turned the vehicle off and back on and drive it the remaining mile to my house. It happened again a few days later with my children in the car. I had a scan tool with me and the vehicle registered a P0720 code for the output shaft sensor. Again I was able to coast to the side of the road with no throttle response.

Transmission failure, leaded frame model. Truck down shift from 6th to 1st gear and or locks up in 3rd or 5th gear won’t shift up or down. Going 75mph to 1st gear through the truck into a drift and spin. Avoid cars and side wall on pure luck do low traffic. Had kids in the vehicle at the time. Problem has been reproduced by a ford dealer and private mechanics. Components been replaced and still continue to have problems on the 4th transmission in less then 6 month. By inspected by a mechanic no warning on the down shift no light no indication of failure. Throws a system check light but no other lights and light goes off after truck has been turned off and on a agin.

I was driving at 70 mph on the highway and my transmission automatically downshifted locking up my rear wheels twice nearly causing me to lose control. I was able to pull off the highway safely and get into a parking lot and turn off and restart my truck. I was able to make it to my destination on city streets, but with similar issues at lower speeds. I took my truck to have its codes checked and the diagnosis was a failed lead frame. I called Ford and they said the extended warranty on this part was expired on my truck by 2 months. The fact that there is a not an automatic recall on this part on 2013 models is kind of scary knowing what I went through on the highway. I have since had the lead frame replaced and the issue is resolved.

Engine also gets “stuck” in 1st gear until electronic error message comes on dash. Then dash goes blank and then it runs fine. Requires me to restart the engine to fix the issue, however it happens 9/10 times while driving.

About 3 weeks ago, I had come to a stop, and then when I hit the accelerator to come from the stop sign, the "check-engine" light came up, my odometer & speedometer seemed to stop working; additionally, I felt that the vehicle wasn't accelerating. When I arrived home, I turned off & then the vehicle back on; and everything since then seems to have been working. I have taken it too the dealership to see if they can determine this issue, and after 5 days, I still don't have an answer. But I did just notice the 2014 F150 recall, regarding faulty transmission, that was reported on, on June 25th; it seems very similar to what happened to my 2013 F150

When traveling on road and want to speed up to get on freeway, change lanes, or simple speed up I lose power shift and it goes from 6 to 4 or 3 in gears and I can't accelerate which has almost caused many accidents. The check engine signal will only blink right when it's happening and loose speed and the AC air flow will get warm until it corrects itself after I either slow down or shut truck off completely. Don Rich Ford performed recall # 19S07 on the transmission in my 2013 Ford F150 on 07/05/2019. In 2022 the transmission started downshifting to first gear just like the recent recall affecting the 2014 Ford F150's. Ford wouldn't cover it under warranty. They tried to reprogram it again. That did not fix the problem, so they repaired the transmission by replacing the lead frame and filter at Don Rich Ford in Vila Rica GA on 04/18/2022. This repair was covered on the 2011 and 2012 models, but they only extended the warranty on the 2013 models to 150,000 miles. I was just over this limit when the issues started happening and it was repaired at 155,137 miles at a cost to me of $885.69

The truck would still move but only at 25 mph.. Ck engine light was on as well as other warning lights, odometer displayed - - - the speedometer either displayed 0 or - - - I pulled over, turned truck off waited a couple minutes, restarted and it ran fine, no warning lights drove home. I continued to drive the vehicle for a couple weeks with no problems. On 06/20/24 while traveling at 30 mph in traffic the truck abruptly shifted to a very low gear, no warning lights, pulled over, shut off truck, waited a few minutes, started truck with no warning lights, drove approximately 10 miles to home without incident. 06/23/24 while driving approximately 30 mph the vehicle hard shifted to a very low gear and would not accelerate past approximately 15 or 20 mph, no warning lights. I stopped, turned off, waited a few minutes. Started engine, truck moved but would not shift, I used the manual shift option and it worked, I was able to shift. Drove approximately 1/2 mile to home. I am having truck towed for repairs tomorrow 06/26/24. I was informed of a recall today, 06/25/24 regarding 2014 F-150s, I realize my truck is not listed but it was built at the very end of the model year and I believe it should be reported.

Vehicle: 2013 Ford F150 FX4 SuperCrew/6.5' Box 5.0 V8 4X4 6R80 Transmission 125,000 Miles Date of Manufacture: 6/11/2013 Date of Original Purchase: 12/06/2013 Symptoms: Intermittently, while driving, the vehicle will lose communication with the speed sensor, disable the speedometer and odometer, set the DTC P0720, and lock the transmission into third gear. It has happened while taking off from a stop, climbing grades, and at cruising speed (70+ MPH). At cruising speed, the downshift is violent enough to skid the tires, and makes climbing hills nearly impossible at slow speeds. The CSP: Ford implemented a CSP (Customer Satisfaction Program #19N01-S3) for the replacement of the molded lead frame in the transmission, which contains the defective output speed sensor. The original CSP covered 10 years, or 150,000 miles from the original purchase date of the vehicle. However, as this was a CSP, not a recall, only the original owners of the vehicles were notified, which lead to necessary repair work not being completed in many cases. Second and subsequent owners, like myself, were left unaware of the issues with their vehicles, until the timeframe had already closed. In my case, the initial sign of trouble was only four weeks past the end of the CSP timeline. In summary, I do not trust this vehicle after sliding the rear tires along the interstate as it forced it's way into a lower gear. I will not use this vehicle to transport friends, family, and loved ones until I'm positive it i

My truck will downshift on its own, i.e., I’m doing 65 mph on the highway in 6th gear and it will suddenly downshift to 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear, causing my back tires to spin out, I almost lose control of the truck and I lose speed quickly when other vehicles all around me are still doing 65 mph or more. The truck has also failed to shift out of first gear at all, the speedometer needle does not move at all and the truck will not shift up when I’m trying to accelerate. This is a danger to me and to all drivers around me. Ford is aware of this problem, the issue is a faulty lead frame assembly and it needs to be replaced. They issued a recall that called for a PCM reprogramming - a reprogramming of the PCM module was supposedly going to fix the issue with a faulty lead frame assembly! Crazy, it clearly did not as I had the PCM reprogrammed and the truck is still acting crazy due to the faulty lead frame assembly that Ford refuses to replace at their expense. It’s a $200 part!!

On 3 occasions the transmission has downshifting without warning as I was traveling at 65 mph it shifted down to 1st gear, fortunately I wasn't rear-ended. When I called the Ford recall center they told me they had a safety recall on this problem but they are considering it to be an extended warranty and unfortunately my warranty has expired due to it being over 10 years old and because of the high mileage. Told me they can't do anything about that problem anymore. I have owned the truck for several years, I still live at same address as when I purchased the truck and I have never received any recall notice.

Vehicle goes into limp mode when driving or slams into 1st gear, locks up the rear tires and throws the truck sideways. Sent to Mullinax Ford on 6/7/24 after waiting a week to get it in. Recall 19S07 was completed and vehicle brought back and told it was fixed. Vehicle was not driven again until the next day. Saturday, 6/8/24, the truck did it again multiple times at 6am while my husband was driving to work. Ford looked at vehicle on 6/10/24 and determined that the transmission molded lead frame needed to be replaced. Ford issued a CSP regarding this but has an expiration of 150,000 and/or 10 yrs from warranty date. It is UNACCEPTABLE to not cover a subsequent repair that is directly linked to the original safety recall. Just because we take care of our vehicles and the problem did not occur until 162,000 miles does not make it ok to not honor a full repair of a known safety recall and is unacceptable. I have been on the phone all day being passed around to not get any resolution on this or any of my questions answered

Truck threw code P2112 Throttle body plate closed. Truck immediatly went into limp mode meaning on only poorly tried to idle, no throttle. This is the SECOND time this part has gone bad on this truck. Never mind they are 600 dollars to replace, it was a very dangerous to have the truck just die during a merge onto highway manuver. If I have to do it twice, how many hundreds of thousands of these failures exist? The first time it happened, I almost crashed. My ford dealer says he sells "alot" of this part. Part number failure is BL3Z9E926B

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
