Exterior A-Pillar Trims were recalled on January 19,2024 due to a safety risk for other road users increasing the risk of a crash if the trim parts detached while driving. Manufacturer recall number is 24S02. NHTSA recall number is 24V031. The local Ford dealer scheduled an appointment on 9/30/2024 for what they said was a fix, however the techs conducted a test and stated the trim parts failed but they were unable to fix on that date as Ford only sends them approximately 2 sets per month and they would let me know when they had mine in to fix. On June 1, 2025 I contacted the local Ford dealer inquiring about the replacement trim parts. The service department stated they do not have any and were still waiting for the manufacturer to provide them. The technicians laughed about the problem and denied they were a safety issue if they detached while driving and would not cause a problem for other drivers. They suggested "ripping" them off if I was concerned.

My vehicle has dual A/C , front and rear. The rear A/C can only be turned on from the touchscreen. My touchscreen went out about a week ago. I called the dealer to ask if there was another way to turn on the rear A/C and the answer was no. I asked what I had to do and the answer was to schedule an appointment so they could check it but I was going to get charged. I live in deep south Texas and it gets very hot down here. The rear A/C is a must. I don't think it's right that i have to spend thousands of dollars to replace my touchscreen just to be able to turn on my rear A/C unit. My passengers have been feeling lightheaded when riding in the back seats without A/C. Ford needs to put a button apart from the touchscreen to turn the rear A/C on and off.

I was driving my explorer in a residential area when my power steering assist went out, causing me to not be able to control the steering wheel. I had 3 passengers in the vehicle at the time. I came close to crashing into a ditch but was able to stop the vehicle. It terrified me and my passengers. I struggled to steer it to a restaurant parking lot. After my power steering stopped working, and alarm went off on the dash and said "steering assist fault" needs serviced. I had the explorer towed to AschenBach Ford in Wytheville, Virginia. The Ford service department said that the bar and all electrical steering needs replaced. There was a recall for some 2014 Ford Explorers with this same problem but my VIN is not apart of those recalls and I feel it should have been because that's what happened to my vehicle. It's recalls 14S06/14V-286.

Ford is recalling vehicles going back as far as 2015 for rear camera issues. We have a 2014 Explorer that has also had the camera go bad recently. on/off intermittently like something loose somewhere (like the descriptions of the current recall). Adding this in case there's others and their recall needs to be expanded. Ford wants $200 just to "look" what might be wrong. The date below is just when it started approximately.

This recall for the trim was issued January 2024, stating the parts would be available in the 2nd quarter of 2024. We are almost at the 3rd quarter of 2025 and still no parts have been released from Ford. They are essentially saying, they acknowledge the issue, and will fix it- but maybe never.,

I have been trying to get our car repaired for a year now. As of Nov 2024, I was told by 2) ford dealers they expected the parts soon. We have taken the car to these dealers, had pictures taken, and the issue confirmed. Getting it repaired is a whole different matter and we keep getting brushed off, being told "they are trying to source the parts". The pillar trim is loose & rattling, and ready to fly off the car. We have been extremely patient and accepting of the delay, but now believe we aren't going to see this issue resolved.

Both A Pilar Trim pieces are currently loose on my 2014 Ford Explorer. This is now a recall from Ford as of February 2024 from the notice I received in the mail. I have been trying to have these trim pieces replaced on my car since March of 2024 but the part has not been available. Prior to this recall, this piece has already been repaired on my car once on August 4, 2020. The trim piece flew off my car on the freeway and luckily didn't hit anyone on the road. I would like to get these recall A Pilar trim pieces repaired ASAP because this is a safety issue as it can and will fly off and potentially damage another vehicle, person or cause an accident. NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
