The Escape in question has a reoccurring issue with the canister purge valve causing gas tank burping and rough engine idle. Mechanic replaced said item a couple of years ago and the problem has reoccured. There is a recall for a Ford Focus with the same year as This Ford Escape 2014. Should not this vehicle be repaired in the same manner by the dealer as the Ford Focus Recall? My mechanic also noted there is a TSB for this Ford Escape 2014 acknowledging Ford has updated the parts for repair to solve the know canister purge valve issue. Replacing the parts for a second time seems unfair and costing twice as much to resolve the same issue with an updated part. Frustrated 🥴 Update: Since composing the above information the cars condition has become more in need of repair. The 2014 Ford Escape is idling rougher, the gas tank flapper is burping while the car is running and the car is randomly stalling. These conditions correlate with a current safety recall for the Ford Focus of the same year 2014.
In March 2022, my ford escape transmission went out due to torque converter. It just broke down without any indict light warning. I paid almost 6K to have it replaced include all transmission programming, controller. In May 2023 and June 2023, my ford escape just quit for no reason without any warning. I tried to start it up, the dashboard of red battery and red oil light came on. I was stuck in traffic for over 4 hours with this problem. It put me in critical risk being injured or killed since I am deaf. It just shut off completely without any noise or foul smelling or any warning. I brought it to several shop for this problem and they found no problem. They are clueless. They tried to blame on transmission. I refuse to pay 6-7K for transmission again. Ford need to step up and own up their problem, and correct the problem.

2014 Ford Escape titanium that has been having issues with coolant leaks and overheating. The first instance was in Dec 2022. The vehicle stalled while it was being driven at about 25-30 mph. The vehicle said that the coolant levels were low and the cars Engine heat level shot up. Checked the coolant level and it was full as I recently changed the oil and topped everything off. I towed it to Cortese Ford dealership in Henrietta and a appointment was set for about 4 days later. They said the issue was that the car was leaking coolant somewhere but they can’t find where, so our options were A.) use a pump process where they would pump air into the coolant system and see where the leak is or B.) reroute the entire coolant system and see if that resolves the issue. So I went with option B because it was the cheaper option and it costed about $996 dallors. About 3 months later the same issue occurred, car stalled, engines heat gage shot up but this time the coolant level was low even after a top off. I added coolant and the car came back but I still called Cortese to see if there was a bigger issue. Appoint was set for 5 days later and we took it there. They came back and said the issue was that one of the main heater hose was cracked and was leaking coolant, and that costed another $1000 to fix. Finally last Thursday, the car wouldn’t start up, the dashboard was saying the cars Engine was overheating and couldn’t be started. So I waited an hour later and tried to start it again,

Unknown- I purchased my Car in 2021 and I’ve had ongoing transmission issues since I purchased it. As of now the issues have gotten worse. I had the transmission recall repair done, but it did not fix the jerking way my car was driving. The repairs keep getting more costly and I don’t believe there’s an actual fix, but rather that this vehicle was sold with a faulty transmission. As of now I can’t drive my vehicle because last month there was a fire under my hood and it’s totally unsafe for me and my family to be in. Ford won’t take any responsibility but they’ve already had to buy back vehicles for settling them with bad transmissions. This is not new for them.
My daughter was backing out of driveway and said the steering was difficult to turn and felt locked. The steering assist fault came up on screen. She parked car and didn’t drive. My husband tried backing out of driveway as well and said the steering was hard to turn. He then put it in park and tried again and it drove fine.

Back up camera at times is showing upside down view, sometime squiggle lines, and sometime a message that reads camera not available. I have become used to using the camera and rely on it for backing up in in parking lots and such. I grew up using the mirrors and can still do that but the camera give extra security. My vehicle has about 78,000.00 , the camera should not be acting up. I have taken it to the local dealer and got a large quote to replace it. I did see on the news last night about a recall on this issue, but my year model was not included. This started about eight months ago. I had no idea I could file a complaint until today after calling Ford directly and being transferred to National Highway Safety Division. I am always available if someone want to inspect my vehicle. I don't drive much, as you can tell a 2014 with 78,000 miles, but when I do i like to feel like I can rely on the safety features of my vehicle.,

I would like to voice concern about the 2 pc lugnuts that Ford places on vehicles. They are not good & after doing some research & talking with other Suppliers and Companies regarding this matter, it is my understanding this is an ongoing issue that Ford continues to ignore. This is not safe. My tire had a slow leak in it. I took it to a local Tire shop who advised the Tire could not be fixed because the tear was in the sidewall. They also advised the lugnuts were swollen & in terrible condition & then went on to show me the lugnuts & educate me on the design that Ford has. The reason for the terrible condition is likely because the nuts have to be beaten off unless the work is done at Ford, as they have special tooling & capabilities to deal with the nut. He also advised, instead of recalling, Ford opted to come out with a special tool or tooling that is specific to only their Dealers. Not ok. Not all people want to use Ford for their tire needs. Nobody should ever take one opinion at face value. I went to another local tire shop to make sure the info I was given about my tire AND the lugnuts was correct. However, when I went, I made no mention that I already had the first opinion, nor did I share any of the info with the 2nd Company. Same information was repeated to me, both about the lugnuts & my tire. Very concerning on the lug nuts & I now believe this to be accurate. This place felt so bad for me & for the condition the nuts were in, that they put gently used ones on 1 o
Amongst SEVERAL problems with this vehicle, it often slips out of gear while driving. Which has caused me to have to stop in the middle of the lane. It has had multiple mega fuses go out. It will often say “power steering fault” and then the message will go away. I am genuinely scared to drive this vehicle because I never know when the power system is going to go out. I have always stayed up to date on maintenance and it has less than 90k on miles. I do not understand why this has not been pulled off the market. It seems like all the escapes before mine were pulled for the same issues.

I pulled into the parking lot of my employment. I put my vehicle in park. I went to turn the vehicle off and when I did the dash light came on saying it was not in park. It stated that it was in S. I do not use sport mode. I then called the local dealership. I learned it was a recall on the shifter bushing. They called a tow truck who came out and picked it up. The tow driver stated it was in fact the bushing was damaged/missing. He manually put it in the gears so that he could load it and took it to the dealership. They fixed the recall and are waiting to hear if the tow fee is covered under the recall so that I can go pick it up.
Transmission failure. Problem confirmed by dealer and two other certified mechanics, in 2022 and 2023. No warning lights or messages given on dashboard. Technicians found codes when vehicle was scanned. Problem only become noticeable when driving vehicle by then it was to late. Transmission would not shift properly coming to stops and trying to accelerate after stops or very minimal speed slowing or accelerating. This occurred on interstate and local driving. First occurrence was December of 2021at around 68,000 to 70,000 miles. Had transmission repaired and was told by mechanic they were problematic and it was a design flaw. Dealer admitted to problematic issue also. Second occurrence was March of 2023 with 77,000. I am currently trying to decide what to do. It is currently available for inspection. I made a formal complaint against Ford to the BBB in 2021 about this issue and they would not offer any assistance. I will make another complaint as of April 2023. I will no longer buy any Ford products.
The vehicle will get a steering assist fault message and go into limp mode immediately giving you no time to pull to the side of the road. Please make ford do something about the steering issues on these vehicles. These escapes are too dangerous to drive.
The low coolant warning light came on a few times, top off coolant and took car to dealer for service and diagnosis. The service performed test and did not find leaks or damage. After a few times with not findings the engine light came on while driving and the vehicle had misfire. Contacted the dealer and the vehicle was diagnosed with coolant into the engine cylinders witch caused the misfire. According to service the engine has to be replaced and the car is not drivable. Based on research, this is a problem many costumers had to deal with.

I see there was a previous recall on the ford smaller eco boost engines. I am having the same issues with coolant leaks and head gasket. Not only me but hundreds of other owners have having the same exact issue of coolant leaking and head gasket going bad.
Car is burning and leaking coolant dude to faulty head gasket and engine over heating. Engine also stalls out when slowing down and shuts off. I see multiple people are having the same issues. This has been a on going thing I took it to the shop to have coolant leak fixed and it still has reoccurred.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
