I was traveling at about 60 miles per hour when I attempted to accelerate slightly to stay with traffic. It seemed like the car wouldn't change gears, but the engine decreased in power. It did not seem that the vehicle had any "power". The car would not increase in speed. I noticed the "wrench" warning light, which corresponds to the drive train of the car. I was able to coast into the next small town about a half mile from the location where I first noticed the issue. Applying the breaks slowed the vehicle. I placed the vehicle in park. The car would not change out of this gear again. The vehicle's gas pedal did not produce any forward or backward momentum in drive or reverse. The vehicle is at the Ford Dealership for repair/inspection at this time. I can provide repair notes from the dealership. The vehicle could be made available for inspection upon request. If this drive train issue had happened on a busy highway, it may have been difficult to navigate off of the roadway safely without the ability to accelerate the car. If this issue had happened on an uphill road, the car would have lost speed rapidly, leading to a rear-end collision.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the RPMs began fluctuating very quickly. The transmission was slipping, causing the vehicle to lose motive power. The vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road however, the gear shifter failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the torque converter failed and sent metal particles throughout the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the diagnostic result was confirmed; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 103,534.

On [XXX] at [XXX] I was driving home from work as I turned on [XXX] road in Jackson CA I felt the vehicle pull and not want to pick up speed to drive up the road like it wanted to stall and only rolled forward a bit. The vehicle then picked back up and I made it to the stop light at the end of the road once I stopped for less than 1 minute the light turned green, I tried to go and the vehicle shut off and began to roll back I had to step on the break and the car behind me reversed so I would not hit him and then the screen flashed a turn vehicle off and restart engine I tried multiple times about 6. Cars had to go around me as I was the first at the light. I finally got the car to turn on and white smoke came out the exhaust pipes I couldn’t put the car in drive. I tried to re start the vehicle again and got it into drive and was able to pull on the side of the highway and more white smoke came out still no vehicle warning signs came on but the screen flashed dimly like it wanted to turn off again. I flagged down a fire truck and called 911 for help the fighters stated it seemed like my engine had blown out and the coolant was completely drained and may have gotten inside the engine causing the white smoke but to take it to a mechanic to verify. I had the vehicle towed to my home. On the way to work that night it drove fine with no issues or warnings, or pulling, I ran errands the day prior and no light warnings came on nor was my vehicle temperatures out of place. I even had
When backing up in the morning the brakes squeak and the camera goes blank when turning on the car or backing up and collision warning is coming on when no collision. And the car jerks when sitting at light, stop sign etc. According to your records this vehicle has no recalls please check your records and get back to me.
EGR cooler faulty; the year this vehicle was manufactured in 2019 has an active recall with this same issue; however because my vehicle in the same year; 2019, was manufactured in a different time bracket Ford will not honor said repair. Leaving me with an extended warranty whom will not cover said repair also. $1800(+) out of pocket expense. Any insight on how one is too challenge this?
The screen sometimes won’t work at all. Just get a black screen and the power button won’t turn it back on. Tried pressing all buttons and it wouldn’t turn on until I shut off the car and turned it back on.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that upon shifting the vehicle into reverse, the center display failed to display a rearview image, compromising the back over prevention system. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V575000 (Visibility) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000.
I purchased my 2020 Ford Edge in Dec 2021 with 8,000 miles at Covert Hutto. Looks like this car was being transferred to dealership after dealership. I feel that Ford should payoff my car and give me another car and take ownership of it being a bad production seed. It was built in Canada during the pandemic. I won’t feel safe because they took my transmission apart and how would I know if or whenever the torque converter is replaced it won’t damage quickly or something else goes wrong before my 60,000 mile’s warranty expires. Powertrain was the component that failed and/or malfunctioned. It’s at Covert Ford and is it available for inspection upon your request. I was in my driveway when the powertrain wrench light appeared on my dashboard. Yes the problem has been confirmed by Covert Ford service department. My vehicle was inspected by the License Transmission specialist at Covert Ford. There were no warning signs until I started my vehicle. I received a email alert and my FordPass app had an alert messages. There were no prior problem. The problem appeared on [XXX] and I towed it first thing on [XXX]. The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V575000 (Visibility) and the vehicle was repaired before the contact took ownership of the vehicle. The contact stated that after taking ownership of the vehicle, the rearview camera failed to display an image in the rear of the vehicle. The camera displayed a black screen in cold and snowy weather. The contact stated that the carpet near the wheel wells would collect snow causing ice to form around the tires, causing damages to the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V575000 (Visibility) was related to the present failure; however, the vehicle could not be repaired free of charge. The dealer had placed washers near the wheels to prevent snow from accumulating by holding down the carpet. The vehicle was sprayed with a liquid to prevent further damage to the wheel wells as well as another liquid on the back over the camera to ensure that the rear of the vehicle would be properly displayed. The contact stated that the repairs only prevented the failure from occurring temporarily. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a complaint was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 86,000.
The transmission jolts and disengages while driving,
Severe jerking, hesitation and jerking when starting acceleration up to 35/40mph. Already had faulty EGR cooler replaced one month ago. Lost ALL coolant with no overheating signs on dash and coolant leaked into exhaust causing dense white smoke and horrible smell. This happened when only driving 5 houses down from my house.
When I was driving and made a left turn. The car completely stalled on a busy street. Car would not drive at all.
The torque converter is failing and in one incident failed to provide power when accelerating. This created a safety risk as I was nearly rear ended when merging into a highway and lost the ability to accelerate. The torque converter has deteriorated and now caused the need to replace the transmission as well. I took the vehicle to a FORD dealer and they confirmed the torque converer has failed. They did not further inspect the transmission at that time. I have now taken it to an independant repair center and they inspected the transmission as well and found black transmission fluid due to metal shaving from the torque converter. This vehicle is 400 miles out of warranty and purchased as a certified pre owned from a ford dealer May 2023. Our mechanic has mentioned that this is a known issue for this vehicle. Up until this incedent there was no warning of any problems. I had noticed the car was shifting weird and shuddering slightly. When I discussed this with the local ford dealer, they explained that it was supposed to shift like that due to the type of transmission it had. Since then the car is barely drivable - scheduled for repair by my independent repair center 11/20.
Problem with car jerking when driving went to dealership and still having the problem He said that it was internal and nothing else he can do he said he changed parts paying a $725 note a month while it sits can't drive it . scare to put on the road don't want it to break down I also end up paying out of pocket. The car was purchased through Enterprise Car Sales payment is going to Santander Consumer USA payments are always paid in advance of a week and a half.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle sputtered and hesitated before shifting into gear and accelerating as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The rear view camera on my 2020 Ford Edge works intermittently. I found recall "NHTSA ID21V011000" and called Ford, but they say this does not apply to my vehicle. The symptoms described in the recall are the same as I am experiencing. This is definitely a safety issue and I am asking that this recall be extended to include my vehicle.
I just had my car looked at by two different mechanics about rear differential. They told me those last the life of the car. So, they told me to look up recalls because that could be the issue. I only have 64000 miles on the car.
I have a 2020 Ford Edge SEL and out of nowhere on 09-08-2023 smoke was pouring out of the exhaust and the car was misfiring. I looked further into it and it seemed to be the coolant was leaking down into the cylinder and causing it to burn through the exhaust making it very difficult to breathe. I sat in the car at a drive through for a couple minutes and it was unbearable to breathe. The car is stalling out while accelerating and could be very dangerous depending on where it stalls.
I was at a stop light and attempting to go when it turned green. It was like the gas pedal wasn't communicating with the car. I had no acceleration for a few seconds and then it was kind of trying to go and it would lose it again. It corrected itself finally, but if that happens when I'm trying turn and a car is coming, that would be extremely dangerous. It has happened a couple times in the past. The first time it happened the powertrain malfunction indicator light came on. At that time, I pulled over and turned the car off for a bit and it corrected itself.
Powertrain went out in 4 lane hallway, transmission and drive shaft. There was a power train light that went on a few days before. I made appt with Ford and had to be towed there for my appointment, was unable to make it there. the people at ford told me that they have had to fix this same thing on multiple/many vehicles. But mine was under recall. Why? 2fmpk3j95lba74164
Rearview camera displays black distorted image. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The sensors do not appear to work as designed, which coupled with the distorted image allows for accidental backing if not careful. The problem has been acknowledged by FORD via recalls on other model years, but not the 2020. Manufacturer will inspect for a fee. Police and insurance have not been involved as there has been no accident with my vehicle. No warning signs or lamps illuminated to advise of this problem at any time. The camera first started displaying the distorted image last week, 15 June 2023.
Tire size: P 245 / 50 R 20 Took SUV fo Ford dealer for oil change and tire rotation. The dealer did not rotate the tires due to all four tires having defects: LF: weather cracked RF: split RR: split LR: split I purchased this vehicle in 2020 and it only has 16,080 miles on it. See attached documents from the Ford dealer
Purchased 5-25-23 from Chevy dealer with 70,000 miles on odometer. When putting car in drive to about 35 mph the car jerks then it seems to run smoother at higher speeds. Is it some sort of adaptive transmission issue or could it be something else? How do I find out without spending an arm and a leg after putting a great investment in purchasing this vehicle already? Any advice?

Driving down a private dirt road, at about 8mph the dash went red, alarms went off and almost instantly the car slammed on its own breaks. Nothing and nobody around. It scared me but i continued on. Not even 2 minutes later it did the exact same thing. Red dash, alarm, breaks. All before I could even register in my head what was happening. It was taken by rollback to the shop where we are being told “we can’t recreate the issue” Again, this was down a private lane no one and nothing around. I got out the 2nd time and observed under and around the car and there was NOTHING. If this were to occur on the road it could potentially put mine and my children’s lives in danger as they are almost always with me. I also have teens learning to drive and had this happened to them, it’s untelling what the consequences could have been. I am completely terrified to drive this car again.

The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
Vehicle jumps and surges forward when shifting in the lower gears.
Driver seat belt locks in retracted position and unable to fasten. This occurs often a heat soak on hot days. Forces operation of vehicle without use of seat belt to get home from work. after vehicle cools overnight the seatbelt unlocks for the next day, but has reoccurred 3 times in a week. No warning lights except for fasten seat belt warnings. The obvious risk is to the driver not being able to wear a seatbelt. Took the vehicle to dealer today 4/17 as it is a safety item, but was told that unless they find something nothing will be done.
Swollen 2-part Lug Nuts
Just bought this car not even a month ago. Drove less than 80 miles. After doing my actual behind the wheel test w highway patrol in the car (Missouri) I noticed the car shifting and jerking into gear as I'd accelerate from a stopped or parked position. No warning lights displayed at that time. Husband drove it this morning to work and did the same thing and now the wrench light is displayed. Being towed to the dealership on Monday since everything I've read says do not continue to drive.
My daughter along with my son in law had parked the car under the carport, once parked they got out to get my grandchildren out, My son in law get the baby on the passengers side while my daughter the drivers. My son in law got his side and shut the door. My daughter takes a bit longer because my oldest grandboy has special needs and takes a little longer. She had to toss my grandson to get him clear of the car, His head also struck the concrete. The car then ran over my daughters upper right leg. the car proceeding down hill and across the street where it struck the house across the street. Police and EMS where called, at the time my daughter refused transport. I took her the the ER , nothing was broken but she had major contusions and pain, My grandson was taken by POV the the Children's hospital to have his shunt checked. After a couple days my daughter was still complain of a headache and eye pain, she went back to the ER where she was diagnosed with a concussion. The car is currently at the dealership
When I’m driving all the sudden my braking system will say collision warning and slam the brakes on, the car pump the brakes and stop moving. It just does it at random times out of nowhere. Seems like most times I’m going at slow speed but I’m afraid I’m going to get rear ended. I’ve already taken it to Ford once and the reset code to system telling me Ford knows about this error but has not recalled it yet! This is very scary while driving and dangerous… plus I have children in the car!
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear window shattered without impact. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was taken to Safelite Auto Glass where the window was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was transferred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 23,500.
Was just driving along and the back window just shattered. Already repaired Tempered glass it did not hurt anyone. No Safelite Auto Glass No Unknown
Vehicle has never had a trailer attached ever and randomly while driving the vehicle said trailer connected and disabled all safety features while I was driving. Then while driving it would say trailer disconnected and shortly after the trailer connected message would pop buck up and start all over again. This all happened on 1 drive without shutting off the vehicle and happened roughly 10 times throughout my drive. Vehicle currently has 18755 miles on it. The trailer pin connector port has never been opened and I have owned this car since day one.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while parking the vehicle and the vehicle accelerated without any warning, causing the vehicle to strike the building in front. The air bags deployed. No one was injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The parts involved were lug nuts. I had a flat tire and was unable to remove/replace the flat because the lug wrench supplied with the car would not fit the nuts. Fortunately I had other tools available that I was able to use to remove the lug nuts otherwise I would have been stranded. When I went to a Ford service center I was informed that the lug nuts were swollen. They told me that this was a well known issue with Ford and that the lug nuts would have to be replaced. The cost to replace these lug nuts was over $200. Attached fine pictures of the lug nuts and receipt for work done. All the lug nuts were damaged by the service center in their efforts to remove them. The pictures attached are of the worst damage.
Husband was driving us home. Vehicle lost power, car started slowing down. Had to pull over to side of road. Car would restart but continued to die and would not change gears. 3 occurred for several hours. Got car towed to dealer ship. The next day car started ok. This could have caused an accident and could have killed somebody. Car is currently at dealership. Have not been told what is wrong at this time. Only have towing paper work at this time. Just received a call they says it’s the fuel pump.
On 10/22/2022 while driving on a highway at the posted speed limit, without warning the Panorama Sun Roof exploded showering shards of glass on Myself and My Wife. The glass sunroof was properly closed but the inside headliner panel was open to enjoy the sun. The moderate average temperature outside at this time was approximately 68 degrees. This vehicle currently has approximately 12,250 miles on it. When the sunroof suddenly exploded, my wife sustained cuts to her hand and both of us were covered in shredded glass, including tiny glass shards embedded in our scalps. The explosion was so sudden and loud I nearly lost control of the vehicle. Fortunately, there was minimal traffic on the road at the time of the explosion with no vehicles immediately in front of us. Research has revealed many incidents of exploding sunroofs on various Ford models, with an exceptionally high incident rate for the Ford Edge model. It was further discovered that this exploding sunroof issue in various Ford models has been ongoing since 2008 with the Ford Motor Company being made aware of this defect. Research has further indicated to date, Ford has failed to issue a recall for this serious and dangerous defect. If our grandchildren had been rear seat passengers (which is often the case), this incident could have been tragically much worse. Not only did the exploding sunroof cause a serious, dangerous and injurious safety threat to us as passengers, getting the vehicle off the road (with the interi
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while she was depressing the brake pedal to slow the vehicle down in order to park but the brake pedal traveled the floorboard. The vehicle failed to stop and crashed into a wall where it came to a stop. The contact mentioned that the Forward Collision Avoidance/Emergency Automatic Braking failed to detect that the wall was in front and prevent the collision. The contact sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and they stated that no failure was determined. The manufacturer was contacted and advised she will receive a call and to contact the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 17,015.
3 children were in the back of the car. Child sat in the middle put seatbelt in the incorrect lock mechanisms. The seatbelt would not disconnect and it jammed. The seatbelt locked so my daughter could not loosen the seatbelt to climb out and started to panic so we had to cut it to get her out. This was a major safety concern. If this had happened in an accident my daughter would have been stuck. Why do the rear seat belts allow a person to clip in, if it won’t allow you to clip out. This is a huge concern
Vehicle transmission bucks, jerks, and shutters when accelerating from 0-35 mph. This issue does not allow adequate acceleration when taking off from stop. Slippery road conditions can impact this problem. Problem was confirmed by Dick Smith Ford of Columbia SC on 8 July 2022. Dealership conducted an adaptive transmission learning software reset for $224.00. Issue has not been inspected by any other entity. There were no warning signs or lamps illuminated during this issue.
While sitting at a traffic signal light that had just changed I removed my foot from the brake and put it on the gas pedal. Suddenly the car lurched forward without any pressure being applied to the gas pedal. This could cause a serious accident if it accelerates at the wrong time.
Have had issues from day one. Lane centering hugs middle line, back up camera is black at times, when in drive screen is blank, all tools on steering have went out including turn signals, cruse control, collision avoidance flashes when no one is in front of me, brakes due to collision avoidance malfunction etc. in November 2021 car was in park ( know that for sure it was in park and not moving as fed ex came for delivery and walked around back of car to get package before accident) and rolled to front pinning me and breaking pelvis and back. During this incident the safety failed in park, anti collie on failed, 9 days in hospital and months of rehab. Again coming back from doctor lost steering controls. 7 weeks in shop and many calls to dealer and ford motor they replaced main wiring harness stating to me in an email and in person this was the cause of all issues including the roll over. Just got car back on 6/17/22. Shall see if this fixes problem but I don’t even want to drive this car anymore! Total miles to date 17,000
VEHICLE transmission while in park failed to remain and moved backward on its own. My safety was at risk as a tractor trailer pulled into rest stop and had to brake b4 colliding with the said vehicle, also if anything was behind me it could have been at risk. unknown unknown NO there was NO warning lamps or messages of this problem, however there were indications on the dashboard lights that stated Blind Spot System Fault AND Cross Traffic System Fault at 45478 miles and Prior
We were driving my 2020 Ford Edge when my vehicle and another vehicle collided. The entire front end of my Ford was smashed in due to the force of the impact. We had to be extracted by the fire department, because we could not open the doors. My pre collusion alert system did not sound off; nor did the airbags deploy despite the rate of speed from the other car as we both entered the intersection. As a result of the airbags failing to deploy, my wife suffered injuries resulting in a trip to the ER. She is still treating with medical providers. Prior to this incident we had no indication of any safety features failing. No warning lights, messages or other symptoms. The manufacturer has been made aware of the incident but has not yet inspected the vehicle at the time of this report. It is currently being held at an auto repair shop.
On 11-16-2021 I put my 2020 Ford Edge in park, got out, and it rolled away. After I put the Edge in park, I opened my door and was moving a trash can, when the Edge rolled forward pinning me.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
