My car had a low oil pressure warning shortly after 60,000 miles. Shortly after, my check engine light also went on. I took my car to a Ford Dealership where they acknowledged this is a problem with the Ford Ecosport. The dealer told me that my entire engine needs replaced and it will be $6,800. Without compassion told me "there are 3 more ecosports in the back getting engines". When I inquired about the recent recall I was told they don't have to fix anything free of charge because the recall technically is not in effect. This happened on January 18th, 2024. My concerns: 1. Dealers are being unreasonable. 2. I was driving my child in this car since 2020. Ford has known since 2021 that there is a safety issue. But because no one actually died it's OK? I know the recall is coming. But I want to add my name to the list of customers who were given faulty cars that Ford knew were unsafe.

We bought a car on Halloween of '22 with 13k miles. In July of '23 our engine blew to wetbelt degrading. We replaced that engine and in August of '23 it blew again due to the same issue. Replaced that engine and in Jan of '24 it happened a third time, both times lasting less than 5k miles. We have maintenaned regular maintenance on the original, and the 2 replacements never reached the maintenance schedule times. These vehicles are extremely dangerous as the motor locks up as well as the brakes. When the engine goes, it's nearly impossible to steer or even brake. These vehicles should NOT even be on the road! Even with a recall, Ford is still unwilling to even help at all. They are literally risking their customer's lives for a profit.

My oil pump is faulty just like the others. That I have read about my oil light came on after a warning light dinged on the dash stating that I had low oil pressure issues. My brother in law is a diesel mechanic and took a look at my car and said that if I move my car from my house my engine is ruined. He checked my oil and everything. I was driving back home at very low speeds and couldn’t use my car right now I am paying on a car I can’t use?! This just started 3 days ago. I called my dealership and I can’t afford to pay for them to fix my car!! The dealership is aware of the recall but won’t do anything until they’re allowed too. This is bologna, I have a car that I’m paying for but is broken.

On December 18, 2023 I started my vehicle for the day when I noticed the low oil pressure warning come on and off very fast, didn’t think anything of it because it didn’t do it the rest of the day. The next day the same thing happened, very fast flicker of the warning so I made an appointment with the dealer to have it checked out. December 20, 2024 it stayed on longer this time and the red oil indicator came on as well. Dropped it off at the dealer on December 21, 2023 & after testing the issue was the oil pump failing and the vehicle needed an engine replacement at 59,294 miles. The dealer stated the car had no oil pressure, metal flakes in the oil, damage to cam caps and heat scoring. Luckily it was covered under the powertrain warranty or it would have been over $6000 to have repaired. They did however replace it with a remanufactured engine so I assume I’ll be dealing with this issue again once this engine nears 60,000 miles so not too happy about that.

One had just 20k miles, one had mid 40K miles, one had 52K miles and another 68k miles. And we had another today with just 58K miles. This seems to be a chronic issue with these engines.

I was driving on Interstate 10 between Casa Grande and Tucson at around 81 mph, and pushed on the accelerator a bit more to get in front of a car when the warning indicator turned on. It said "Low Engine Oil Pressure". Immediately the car lost all acceleration while I was in the left lane. I had to immediately turn on my hazard lights and get to the right lane, while slowly losing speed. I did not feel safe pulling onto the shoulder and there was an exit about a mile away from where it all started so we essentially were cruising, losing speed, to the exit. We pulled into a gas station parking lot while we figured what was going on. This happened while I was driving in the left lane of a 3 lane interstate with a speed limit of 75mph. I believe that our safety was put into risk because of the nature of the location where it happened and how everyone else was going over 75mph while we were trying to get off the freeway safely. After many tows and having to go back to phoenix, we took it to Chapman Ford in Scottsdale. The oil pump belt snapped, causing the engine to run without oil, and damaging the engine to the point where the dealership says it needs to be replaced. The engine sounds different now and there is rattling present. The Service department quotes the replacement at over $7,000 and the car is just outside the powertrain warranty. No support from Ford Corporate as of now when this is being typed. We do not have the money to get the engine replaced at the moment withou

I purchased this vehicle in 2020 and for the first 55,000 miles the car was great and after that it became a nightmar. I was driving one day and and lost power and the car would not accelerate properly I took the car to my dealership and after them having it they said the turbo charger had malfunctioned. The dealer fixed it after paying a $100 deductible. A month or so goes by and the car lost power and the engine was knocking. I called the dealer once again and they came and picked it up. A few days went by and the dealer called and said that the oil pump had failed causing the engine to blow. They said they were going to replace the engine and after several days they called and said my car was finished. I went and picked it up. Since then the car has been back in the shop twice because the wrench light kept coming on and having the same powertrain issues. The second time was just in the past few days to be exact Dec,02,2023 the same problem the wrench light hesitation and no acceleration when hitting the gas pedal the dealership once again told me to bring it in. Today Dec,05 I was told to come In about my car and they informed me the battery and the brake linings were the cause of the wrench light. Doing my own research the wrench light is a sign of powertrain issues. The dealership tells me what they want to tell me because I feel like they are tired of dealing with this issue and it's very disheartening to me because this is my only mode of transportation.

The car began to have problems going up the slightest incline with the wrench light coming on but going off when stopped. Then the oil pressure light came on. When it was in the dealership I was told I needed a new engine because the oil pump had gone out which they said had been causing the deceleration when going uphill at all. They said they were metal shavings in the engine. The car was in the shop for over 2 months. I did trade the car off while they were waiting on a engine. I had the extended warranty which covered this expense. This was a very difficult and dangerous situation.

I got vehicle transported home and researched and seen the Faulty Oil Pump and Belts set up that could’ve severely harm my family, or others if the engine would have seized up while driving. I took my vehicle into a Ford in Simi Valley, Ca sometime between summer/fall 2022 because I had a lower power indication on the vehicle at around 50 something thousand miles to see what was wrong. The service agent told that they fixed the power sensor due the elevation difference from Texas to California and I live in the valley. Later that evening, I took my car out and then I got a low oil pressure alert. Turns out that I had an oil pump failure that also led to my engine, needing to be rebuilt. The dealership is attempting to charge me $6400.35 for repairs, which also happen to be on back order until December 14, 2023. I had previously gotten a check engine light alert, and the error code was about the emission system. I replaced the relevant part, and the error code was cleared. Then the check engine light came on again. Sometime later once again, it was the same error code. I replaced the part a second time, and the error code eventually went off. Sometime later, it came back on yet again. I had a mechanic do a smoke test. There was no leak in the emission system. He then reset the code again during this time of trouble, my car would not restart after doing an auto stop after becoming idle. I had to manually restart the car when this happened. Sometime after the smoke test, I drove the car to Colorado and back. A couple of days after I got back, the check engine light turned on again. Engine2 injured
Filed Oct 30, 2023SC

Oil pump failure causing entire motor to need to be replaced. Motor failed at 60,400 miles just outside of warranty while going down the interstate at 70 miles an hour. Ford has offered to do nothing with the repair and the engine is on back order for 6 months. This is a know issue already under investigation by the NHSTA and i want to add my case.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
