The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V267000 (Electrical System, Power Train). The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, there was a loud popping sound coming from the engine compartment with a clicking sound near the fuel tank. The contact’s husband inspected the engine compartment and noticed that the battery had exploded. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
On Monday [XXX], I was driving my vehicle home when I received the following error messages while driving: -pre collision assist not available -service advancetrac -check park aid -service vehicle soon -front camera fault service required -front camera fault service required -shift sys fault service required I was able to make it home and got my car towed to Washington Ford (Washington,PA) the next day. Ok Wednesday [XXX], I received the following message from Washington ford “ Your vehicle is done and ready to pick up. The concern was related to a reprogram of the power steering control module. --Andrea Baumgardner Washington Ford” I picked up the vehicle on Wednesday. On Thursday night, I was driving home after 12am when I received all the same above error messages that I noted as well as losing power steering and control of all my lights (headlights, turn signals, hazard lights). I had the car towed again the next day back to Washington Ford. Since then they have not been able to duplicate the problem and that there’s nothing more they can do. I was told “my vehicle is ready to pick up” but couldn’t guarantee it was safe to drive In April of 2024, Ford recalled 456,000 Ford broncos for “ because the vehicles may fail to detect a low battery charge, which could lead to a loss of engine and electrical power while driving.” Which is the exact issue I had with my vehicle two times in 3 days, however my vehicles VIN wasn’t included in that recalled. On May 13th, 2024 expanded t
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal to slow for traffic or for a traffic signal, there was an abnormal high-pitched sound coming from the brakes and the vehicle was vibrating. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that additionally, while driving up a grade in the road, at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the engine was not revving while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear brake rotors needed to be turned. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failures reoccurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,600.
My bronco is going through coolant very quickly. If my heat wasn't working I would likely not have checked it. There was none in the resivour. There are no leaks in the lines or radiator.
When driving down the highway at 80 MPH, vehicle lost all infotainment and instrument panel. This happened several times, battery and alternator were tested and returned nothing. Upon completion of the drive, the vehicle would not start and the alternator had to be replaced. Approximately 3 months prior the drive train lost power and the turbo had to be replaced.
Sitting in school drop off, car shut off by itself and is dead. What if that happened while driving? Completely frightening!
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle briefly jerked, after which the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The driver was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to restart; however, upon shifting the vehicle into drive, the vehicle shifted into reverse instead. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V267000 (Electrical System, Power Train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 11,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while pulling out of a parking lot, and driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not able to be restarted. The contact’s husband jumpstarted the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was battery related. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000.
Battery low voltage. I saw NBC spot on recall. I paid for my battery because it was same issue. I work for government & travel at midnight through farms. It’s dark. Could not risk stall out. Parsons Ford - has details. Include mine in please. Pay back Parsons - me for credit on any future needs or a check back to me or them. It was over $300 part & labor. [XXX] [XXX] . Prefer email. I don’t answer phone from unknown numbers. Thanks. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owned a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while the son was driving at approximately 60 MPH, smoke was seen coming from under the hood. After driving over to the shoulder and exiting the vehicle, the vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. During the incident, the vehicle was destroyed and later towed to a nearby towing yard. The cause of the fire was not determined. The manufacturer and dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously serviced for the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V859000(Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. No police report was taken. The failure mileage was 6,000.
The rear brakes seem to drag and make a loud noise when in reverse. We have taken the car that is sill under Ford warranty to Hertrich Ford dealership in Elkton Maryland. They attempted a “modification” and informed us that Ford Engineers have not come up with a fix yet as many Ford Broncos and Ford Escapes are experiencing the same problem. We asked for the Ford Field Service Engineer for our geographical area to look at the car but no response to our request to date. We asked to speak with Tommy Allen foreman of service at Heirtrich Ford and no response as to date. The dragging sensation and loud noise when the car is in reverse is worse since Heirtrich Ford made the modification to the vehicle. Brakes do not feel right when car is in reverse.
Vehicle started on its own, no remote start scheduled or activity. Online forums suggested battery failure and two days later battery was dead. Battery replaced. Filed complaint with Ford seeking answers regarding safety concerns and took to Ford dealership for inspection and service. Vehicle was also in same dealership twice for maintenance service and brakes within two weeks of the mystery start incident. Ford found 15 U codes relating to battery or electrical failures, reset battery monitoring systems and returned vehicle. I don’t have any explanation from Ford as to why or how the vehicle started, Ford has not denied it, but they have not provided any reason for me to believe the vehicle is safe to keep driving and parking in an enclosed space. I asked Ford if they are aware of the risk and they only response I received, is they asked me to keep monitoring the vehicle and if I experience any problems to bring it back to the dealership.
Exhaust fumes fill cabin when car is slowed or stopped. I've had it to dealer once, but hasn't been fixed.
Brakes squeal when backing up.
Cracked Fuel Injector. I went on the Ford Website to find the vehicle I wanted. The website stated "dealer ordered." I put a deposit on it in August and my vehicle was delivered the second week of October. I noticed several times that a gas smelled filled my cabin so when I was mailed the recall... It all made sense and I was the first one in line for recall. I also noticed that smoke would come from under the hood after it was parked. I initially thought that is was because it was very cold out and I had the heat on. I thought at first it was steam but it happened again on a normal cold day. When I went for my recall, I told the service tech that I smelled gas in my cabin several times and mentioned the smoke. They scheduled me for the recall repair. After the recall was done, I asked them why they didn't replace the fuel injector, my truck had 5000 miles on it. They said the recall will fix it . It is April now and I do not smell gas but I seen smoke come from under my hood definitely once, maybe twice since then. I am not convinced the recall fixed the problem. I also contacted ford when I had the recall done and I was given a case number. Since I read about this issue coming up again for Ford and you investigating on why they are not replacing the fuel injects, I now have another case open with Ford. I wanted the fuel injectors replaced the first time... They were under warranty...The recall did not solve the problem.
On [XXX] I began my drive from Miami, FL to SF, CA for my next travel nurse assignment. Three hours into my drive, I stop for gas and return to the highway. I remember accelerating to catch up to traffic and moving into the left lane. Then I remember abruptly seeing brake lights ahead, braking hard, and the collision warning system going off. I was braking for several seconds and it became clear to me that I was going to crash into the vehicle in front of me. Immediately upon impact, my Bronco Sport caught fire. I felt the heat. I smelled the fire and fumes. I saw people running towards me, yelling for me to get out of my burning car. The airbag went off and I sustained minor injury to my right hand. At that point, my priority was to locate my cat inside my perfectly packed vehicle with all of my most important possessions. I grabbed my cat, my phone, and my purse and escaped as flames overtook my SUV. The Nissan Rouge in front of me sustained some rear bumper damage but overall relatively minor exterior damages. I am in awe that what should have been a minor collision turned into escaping a burning car with my cat and watching my everything burn away. I struggle with PTSD from the accident. The Bronco was well-maintained. I had the recall repaired, along with oil change and tire rotation in November, prior to driving from Southern California to my home in Miami in early December. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The insurance company did not choo
The contact's wife owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while his wife was driving and making a left or a right turn, the steering wheel locked inadvertently. The contact stated that while forcefully turning the steering wheel, the steering wheel made an abnormally loud grinding sound. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an unknown repair was performed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 23S09; however, the vehicle was not covered under the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
On [XXX] I drove my 2022 Bronco to the local car wash, after washing my vehicle the vehicle would not start. I realized it was the battery when no electronics turned on. This occurred in the midafternoon, and I was fortunate to be parked in an area that was busy. Had this occurred at night this would not be a safe area to be in alone and for a female. I contacted AAA for a jump and also Taylor Ford so that I could bring the vehicle into them to look at the battery. They put the vehicle on their machine and stated nothing was wrong with the battery. I was advised to lock the doors when I park the vehicle after use this may resolve the issue. On [XXX] the battery was once again dead. I put the battery on a charger and contacted Taylor Ford about the situation. I brought it back and they stated I would have to make an appointment. The delay is over a month for me to get into them to look at the problem. The vehicle sends a message in Ford Pass that it is going into sleep mode which indicates that the battery is starting to weaken. This issue with the battery puts me in a situation which may eventually cause me to be stranded and at risk for my safety if this occurs in an isolated area. I have done research and found a lot of Ford vehicles are having the same issues with the battery and no resolution outside of replacing the battery with the same reoccurrences over time. The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that the side door mirrors had degraded, impairing visibility while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an unknown recall was performed; however, the side door mirrors were not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,200.
Shocks defective. Shocks to be replaced twice on this vehicle with under 50,000 miles. First replaced at about 20,000 miles. Dealership advised that original shocks and now new replacement shocks leak on inspection. Clearly a defective part. Ford knows about this problem. Ford has put out a “service message for technicians” but why isn’t there a recall? Second issue is brake issue. Ford has also issued a “service message for technicians” on this issue. They are aware of the issue and customers are waiting 3 months or more for a “bushing and hardware kit” for repair. Issue is detected by loud squealing when the car is backing up in reverse. Why isn’t this a recall? The dealership is charging for these items that Ford is aware of as problems with their vehicle.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in reverse(R), there was a loud squealing sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was acknowledged that the issue was a common occurrence; however, the part to repair the vehicle were not available. Upon investigation, the contact discovered TSB: 22-2326, which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 4,500.
My vehicle started with not accelerating and bogging down when going after a stop, it shakes/jerks from 1-3 gear. The rpm’s jump all over the place and at times it will be very low speed, jerking when trying to shift. I haven’t even had the car two years, I have two children and this happened at an intersection and scared us all. It had happened so many times I’m scared to drive it. I took it to a ford dealership, they were able to recreate the issue and said it may be the transmission. There are now warning lights on or anything indicating what the issue is. They told me to keep driving it until a code comes up or to wait till June when they can inspect it. It just keeps getting worst.
Brakes are sticky. They will stick after coming to a stop, causing the vehicle to jump forward. Also, make an incredibly loud noise after sitting still for a few hours, and moving. The calipers seem to lock up. This is not a one time incident, it’s all the time!
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Three times this vehicle has had the water pump replaced. 2/20/2023 at 20285 miles , it was replaced with the original part HX7Z8501A, which I also had to source the part myself from another dealer, as mine told me they had no ETA and could not locate one. 9/6/2023 at 38232 miles. It was replaced with the redesigned part HX7Z8501B. 2/6/2024 at 50137 miles. It was replaced again with the redesign part HX7Z8501B. The service advisors at the dealer stated they have never had to replace one three times before mine. Ford advised me that I need to report to NHTSA. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car could overheat. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? D'orazio Ford in Wilmington IL has done the three repairs Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Dealer service center Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Coolant smell, low coolant, coolant sprayed in engine bay
The automatic transmission was leaking (at about 12K miles) a heavy amount of fluid. I noticed a foul/burnt smell while driving with the heater/ac/vent on and that occurred around [XXX] I noticed a puddle of fluid on my driveway around [XXX]. The car is currently at Aaron Ford of Escondido, CA, and they confirmed the problem. The dealer is waiting for parts to arrive to repair/seal the transmission. My safety was put at risk because the leak could have rendered the transmission inoperable and could have caused a serious accident while driving. Only the dealer has inspected the vehicle. There were no warning lights/alerts on the dash. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Defective water pump caused coolant leak and the serp belt to deteriorate at 30,000 miles. Previous years of this vehicle have been recalled for this issue but mine was not recalled. The service department refused to fix the damage caused to my car under warranty. The water pump was replaced under warranty but I had to pay for the serp belt.
I took the car in to get it checked for a grinding noise that was being made when I would pull out of a parking spot. They found that the rear differential went out and needs to be replaced. This is on a 2022 Bronco Sport with 41k miles. It is currently at the Ford dealership but the part is on back order with no eta.
My car lost power on the highway. I took it to the dealership. They had the vehicle for 2 months and said it was repaired under warranty/recall. The same day that I received the car back, the same problem occurred. They kept it for a few days and said they could not determine the issue and released it back to me yesterday. This morning, it lost power again, while i was taking a left hand turn into oncoming traffic. I was almost t-boned. There is an huge safety issue here that is being brushed off and I’m afraid I will end up in a terrible accident.
We got a “service engine soon” warning stating “the vehicle has detected a concern with the evaporative emissions system” and that we need to “have the vehicle checked by a dealer ASAP”. With this, the dealership ordered a purge control line. This fixed the check engine light for about a week. Suddenly, we received the same warning and message. This time, the “Tech said its possible we hit something because under the vehicle the under shield has a hole in and it the canister valve which is what is causing the check engine light on. We cant get the part cover under warranty because of that. You would be looking at $638.00 not including tax.” Nothing was hit that we can note. The “shield” is a piece of felt. If this canister is so important, why have it “protected” by cloth?
The car intermittently will stop and wont accelerate, usually when in drive… on inclines, after slowing down. Dealer can’t diagnose the problem and it’s getting worse. It jerks and it’s dangerous to drive.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for an oil change, the contact was informed that the engine oil casing and separator housing were cracked, causing oil to leak into the engine. The independent mechanic determined that the engine oil casing and separator housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V191000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 28,167.
The brakes make a squilling noise when backing up took to Aunto Nation Ford Marietta for several repairs was done still making loud noise driving through traffic. The vehicle was inspected by ford FSA inspection the brakes system still have a defect and loud noise.
Car was parked and windshield cracked from driver side over half the windshield. No damage indicators.
I got in my car to find a 12” long crack in the windshield. Upon inspection, I noticed a small chip in the top black part of the windshield that appears to have caused the crack. I had driven it the previous day and was not aware anything had hit the windshield. It has been extremely cold and the vehicle was exposed to snow. The crack is so large that it impedes the drivers line of sight and cannot be repaired. The windshield needs to be replaced and the ADAS needs recalibration. Clearly the part is faulty or the design is faulty, but this windshield is impacting safe driving.
The brakes have been a problem since I purchased the vehicle new a little over a year ago. They make a loud noise after sitting for too long, plus the calipers seem to "stick". There is a hesitation when I put the vehicle into R or D and have to put my foot on the gas in order for it to "lurch" into movement. I have mentioned this to my dealer service and we informed by them that this is just the way the brakes are on these particular vehicles. If that is indeed the case, then Ford has installed sub-par brakes on all the Bronco Sports.
The brakes are constantly making a horrible noise in reverse. I’ve been to two dealerships to try and have this fixed. I’ve also call ford motor co multiple times and just get run around. The dealership can’t figure out what’s causing it it’s been in at least 10times and still no fix it’s a safety issue and I refuse to transport my grandbabies in it. The dealership will call ford and ford has no idea either how to fix it I’ve asked for a refund and was denied. I am an unhappy ford owner and I can’t get ford to help me
When backing up make loud noise Braking
My moonroof exploded unexpectedly. I was traveling on a 4-lane highway, approximately 60mph. No other cars nearby, no overpasses, no pedestrians anywhere along. Suddenly, it sounded like a shotgun went off inside the vehicle. I pulled over to inspect the vehicle and discovered that the moonroof had broken around the entire perimeter of the glass. I took photos of the moonroof, then removed the broken glass enough to be able to drive directly to the dealership. They have inspected the vehicle, but are refusing to cover the issue under warranty. The vehicle is available for inspection. My safety, and the safety of others, was put at risk because: - the sound of the explosion could have caused me to wreck or to wreck into others - the glass from the moonroof could have fallen on me or other passengers in the vehicle - the glass from the moonroof could have flown off the vehicle and struck another vehicle or passers-by. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure.
My truck with dead at a turning light, it's still UNKNOWN what happened. I had 2 people try to give it a boost and it would not turn on, the gears were locked, and it had to be pulled on the tow truck. The brake lights signal was flashing, and the engine light was on the dashboard along with the battery light. I could not get it to turn on and there was no sound to the engine. the radio was working and none of the lights went dim.
Vehicle has 14,600 miles on it. After a regular service for an oil change i requested that the Technician look at the brakes due to abnormal noise coming from them. Technician confirmed that the front brake pad are warn down and need to be replaced and that the rotors as well have been worn down and are in need of needing replacement. With the low amount of miles on the car the brake pads and rotors should not need replacing till at least ( my opinion) for a minimum of 30,000 miles. I have contacted for about this issue and they are not willing to replace them although everyone i have spoken to agree that this is an abnormal amount of wear for a car with such low miles and that there is an issue here that is a major safety issue
Rear brakes moan when reversing at low speed. Has done this since day one. Also the transmission shifts are hard and hangs in sport mode and won’t shift. It hangs at almost 5k rpms and when I let off the gas no shift till 2300 rpms. Took it in and they looked at the transmission fluid said it was darker than usual for the mileage (14,000) and recommended a fluid flush that’s not covered by warranty. They changed fluid and I ask why it was doing this they said “ well that’s why we changed the fluid” which tells me nothing! Now the engine compartment rattle in gear and the transmission temperature after driving only 5 miles is hot enough to fry an egg on so my guess is it runs too hot and is burning or oxidation why else would it be black?
Our Car lost power and engine failed to start in the middle of traffic today. [XXX] This article shows what is happening to our vehicle and I’m making the complaint today. This needs to be recalled! Very dangerous! My wife was driving and is 6 months pregnant with twins and thank god we were not on the highway and I was with her. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
After first start of the day when in reverse the rear brakes make a foghorn-like noise everyday. This is a known issue as it’s all over the internet. Dealer says it’s not a warranty issue. Could be a safety problem if left unrepaired.
The screen for the entertainment system and rear back up camera goes black in the middle of driving or backing up and it unusable. This happens several times in the last two weeks.
At approximately 2000 miles , I had vehicle fueled, engine was off. After fueling was complete, put foot on break, pushed button to start every caution light imaginable lit up on dashboard, obviously, indicating something was wrong electronically. Vehicle said it was overheating. Brake pedal was all the way to the floor, bronco was not running, never started . Service station attendant lifted hood , didn’t visibly see anything wrong after approximately 5 minutes vehicle was able to start no issues. It was maybe 60° outside, I drove 5 miles from my home. Bronco was picked up, taken in dealership, was not able to replicate. It’s a year old I have 4500 miles on it and worried about future issues while driving.
Battery installed is bad. Different operations were not working properly and I was afraid could stall out in traffic or leave me stranded. Dealership diagnosed it as bad, but now Ford is not acknowleding it is an issue and covering rentals to fix. I have seen many complaints about the Ford Bronco Sport tearing through batteries before their time. Mine was less than a year and a half old and less than 6,000 miles at the time the battery was acting up.
My Bronco has power failure in the middle of driving, entire car shuts off screen reads it goes in power saving mode and everything locks up and it will not start back up. My safety and my entire families safety is put at risk because I'm losing power to my car and it stops working if this happens on a busy highway it could be fatal. Yes, I've had it towed to the Ford house every single time this has happened. They attempt to fix it but give it back and within two days it happens again. I don't believe they know how to fix it. Ford House has had my car off and on for two months it should have been inspected by everyone at this point. No warnings when it happens it just stops working. This all started within the last two months. I purchased my 2022 Bronco brand new drove off the lot with 12 miles. At this point I don't feel safe putting myself or my family back in this vehichle. It needs to be recalled!

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
