Cylinder #1 misfire fuel injectors replaced 4/16/2024; 7/26/2024 cylinder #6 misfire and compression leak. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge additional issue with this 3.6L engine cylinder head. Customer service disconnected me when I asked to file a complaint. Called the Canadian phone number on X56 service bulletin and repeatedly got disconnect.

Drove 20 miles to doctors appointment in vehicle. No signs of problem. Was at doctors office for about 2 hours. When I left doctors office vehicle was acting erratic. Making noise and revving even when not applying gas. Jolting forward unexpectedly. Hesitating when accelerating. There were no indicators and no check engine light coming on at that time. I got off highway and took back roads until I found a place to safely stop vehicle. Turned vehicle off and waited a bit. Started vehicle again and drove it around a cul de sac several times to try to see if it might be better. While driving in cul de sac check engine light finally came on. It was steady, not flashing. This was several miles after car first started exhibiting erratic behavior. I could not tell if car would be controllable. After parking car for quite a while and letting it cool I was able to drive it the rest of the way home, going slow and coasting when possible to avoid having to accelerate and brake more than absolutely necessary. Ran diagnostic which suggested transmission problem. Looked up recalls and although 2015 town and country has recalls for transmission pump my vin number was not covered under recall. Once transmission was taken apart and investigated by mechanic I learned my transmission pump was indeed bad and so was my torque converter. I had to pay for transmission rebuild and pump and converter out of my pocket. While I was driving the car the day this happened I had no warning of the problem.

I parked my car in the driveway, turned off the engine and exited the vehicle. Before I closed the driver's side door, the front right headrest went off like the vehicle was in an accident. The corresponding air bag did not deploy. I inspected the headrest noticing pieces of plastic had broken off and others were bent. I attempted to reset the headset following the recommended procedure. Because of the broken/bent pieces of plastic, the headrest cannot be reset.

My vehicle was going up hill when it started smoking. I pulled over and found a leak under the van which was transmission fluid. I had to pay $2200.00 to have the vehicle towed home to my local mechanic and now it is costing an additional 1800.00 to fix the torque converter and transmission fluid pump. It dropped in speed from 50 to 30 to nothing within seconds of going up the hill.

The vehicle randomly loses all power, which means no power steering and no brakes. It happens randomly and after searching online it appears others have the same issue faced back to the wireless ignition node being faulty. However the previous recall doesn't cover the vehicle I have which is experiencing the exact same symptoms. My wife has already had a close call as she is unable to steer the vehicle without power steering and the brakes don't work at all.

I was driving down the highway and there was a loud bang and something hit me in the back of my head. It felt like something was thrown and me with significant force from behind. The headrest exploded for no apparent reason while we were traveling 65 miles per hr and threw me forward as I was driving. This could have caused serious harm to me personally or could have caused an accident and harm to other vehicles or my daughter that was riding in the passenger seat.

I do not have a SiriusXM subscription, they sent an unsolicited offer for a 3 month trial and activated Satellite system on radio, model 430N, in vehicle. This happened sometime after March 4, 2024. I did not listen to SiriusXM on vehicle until sometime mid April. I noticed changes in the way some safety related systems worked and finally realized they started with the trial activation. What changed: the is no audible warning sound, just silence when the following are turned on our activated; turn signals when blinking, blind spot is activated when changing lanes and a vehicle is in blind spot, rear cross traffic warning when traffic present, rear parking collision warning when obstacle is present. Vehicle had audible warning sounds for all of this until satellite radio trial was activated. Why is a radio company able to disable required safety systems on a vehicle?

Passenger rear sliding door on my 2015 Chrysler Town and Country will not unlock with the remote. This happens all the time and has become a great concern as it causes not only frustration for me but has caused stress for my grand children thinking they are stuck in the vehicle! This also causes my wife to have to open the passenger front door and reach between the seat and the "B" post to reach the lock and unlock the door. Then at this time the door must be opened manually or push the remote button again to try and open it. This happens in hot or cold weather. This could cause the door to fail to unlock in an panic causing injury or loss of life during an emergency. As a first responder this would cause us to have to figure out ways to cut the door open or use the jaws of life to open the door after a crash where the driver is unable to inform us of the issue in unlocking the door. Safety issue for sure that needs to be repaired by Chrysler at their expense since they know of the issue.

My van began to leak oil at a high rate spontaneously one day. I found antifreeze had mixed into the piston chamber as well. Upon further investigation, it appears that the OFA as Chrysler calls it, or the Oil Filter Assembly, has a fatal design flaw being made of plastic and through heat and time these units are prone to cracking. Upon investigating forums, this assembly is used on other vehicles across the FCA brands and exhibits the same failure. It is also prone to cracking during the replacement process of the filter as high torque of unscrewing or screwing the filter can crack a portion of the OFA. There is an aluminum version of the OFA that is being recommended for replacement of the OEM OFA which to me signals a confirmation of the design defect, however, if the vehicle is outside the warranty, the OEM is refusing to cover any of the replacement cost.

On my way home the transmission pump failed in my van which then caused the entire transmission to fail. I was at a stop sign and when I went to go the car to not move forward, it would just rev as if I was in neutral and then when it first happened, it would suddenly kick in to gear. Now the dealership tells me it will not go into gear at all, it just rev's. After some research we saw that there is a recall for this exact issue that exists for our van's year and model; however our VIN was not included in the recall. As it stands right now we are having the transmission replaced but this is obviously related to the existing recall and believe it should be added to it as well. Chryslers number for the recall is S44. I've included the invoice from the dealership for the repair stating that the pump failed.

Several times over the past few weeks the van has just shut off while driving. This has happened at low speeds and at city driving speeds. The engine just completely shuts off and the van loses power brakes/steering/acceleration with no warning, no rough running, no sounds, and no check engine light. The mechanic cannot find anything wrong with it but the problem continues at random intervals. This is potentially very dangerous and even worse is that there is no evident problem.

I took it to a repair shop and after a accumulating a large diagnostic bill, they said that the lobes on camshaft wore down and are causing misfires. They said it was a well known manufacturing defect and a common issue with this engine.

Car was parked and I was standing outside the front passenger door. When I pulled the seat recline lever, the seat back shot forward quickly and the headrest exploded open. I cannot push it back into place OR take the headrest out. It is available for inspection, however I need to get it fixed for safety concerns asap. Anyone sitting in the passenger seat cannot keep their head in proper alignment, over their shoulders. Their head is forced forward. Not only uncomfortable, but mechanically unsafe. We were traveling to Illinois when with out warning the car downshifted and went 55m/hr at 5000 rpm instead of 70m/hr at 2000 rpm. Incident occurred 7/22/2023. We were on the tollway coming in to Rockford Illinois at the beginning of rush hour. The mechanic found that the transmission had failed at 47,190 miles on the car. Of course the auto was out of warranty. 2015 Chrysler Town and Country Touring Van 5y or 60,000 mi on the powertrain. This could have been a very dangerous situation with the car accelerating and decelerating as we drove. The interesting thing is the certified transmission mechanic told us this was the 4th van he has seen in the last 2 weeks with the same issue. The transmission fluid was full of metal shards, now this does not seem right on an auto with only 47,190 miles on it There is documentation attached with the component data as per the computer record.

In July 2020, while on a trip, driving on the interstate at approximately 70mph, the driver front door window trim flew off, luckily not hitting the vehicle behind me. I suspect if would have caused damage if it had, even possibly going through a window. It cost $92 for the new part (APPLIQUE. B Pillar. Left). In January 2022, while on a trip, driving on the interstate at approximately 70mph, the passenger front door window trim flew off, luckily not hitting the vehicle behind me. As stated above, it could have been a problem had it hit any vehicle behind us. It cost $86 for the new part (APPLIQUE. B Pillar. Right) . I was able to find the parts online rather than going through a dealer (cost $150+ from them). A friend who works for Caliber Collision offered to put the replacement parts on for us, saving us labor costs. He mentioned he has seen this problem on numerous Town and Country vans. The only warning we had was a sudden high whistle as the piece came off. The parts never felt loose so we had no reason to suspect they would come off. This seems to be a design flaw that I think we should be reimbursed for. I can supply the receipts if that is a possibility.

Halfway through a nearly 1000 mile trip from my home to Panama City Beach, FL, I noticed a noise slowly getting louder from the vehicle as the trip progressed. About 100 miles out from our destination, I noticed gears started slipping and the check engine light came on. Luckily, we did get to our destination and an Auto Service Center. From the attached invoice, we now know the "front transmission pump has low pressure starving transmission for fluid damaging transmission internally." This required us to replace the transmission, which was a nearly $6500 repair. It turns out, Chrysler recalled other 2015 Town and County vans for this exact same reason (recall number is 16V461000 and Chrysler's number is S44). However, my VIN was NOT a part of this recall. According to this recall description, "If the transmission loses hydraulic pressure, the vehicle may lose motive power, increasing the risk of a crash." The fact that my vehicle was not recalled but had the same issue as other vehicles that were recalled should warrant an investigation. I now know my family's safety was unknowingly at risk. I will also give this information directly to Chrysler.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the transmission inadvertently downshifted to first gear, causing the RPM’s to rev to 6,000 RPM. There were unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled off the roadway and turned off and restarted the vehicle several times before the transmission regained normal functionality. The contact stated that the failure became constant. Additionally, the manual shifting and sports modes were inoperable. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission pump had failed, and the transmission was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

Similar to NHTSA Campaign ID: 16V461000 While driving the van at highway speed, there was a sudden failure of the automatic transmission leading to lack of fwd/reverse motion control. Fortunately, this incident did not result in a crash; driver was able to coast to shoulder with hazard lights on. No warning lights appeared on the instrument cluster. Vehicle had to be towed away from scene. Vehicle is at Chrysler dealer who suspects hyd pump failure leading to transmission failure similar to above campaign. This van was manufactured in Nov 2014 (as a 2015) model and was not part of the OEM recall.

My van has a leak at the valve seat in cylinder 1 on the intake side. It has been inspected my a mechanic and available for anyone else to look at it. My car is not old and low mileage. The mechanic said he had someone recently in with the same problem on the 3.6L engine, same year, same low mileage. This causes a problem because the combustion is not properly working in the engine so it has a health hazard for everyone because it has a larger and worse carbon footprint because the engine is not working/functioning properly how the car manufacturers intended it to be. I have searched forums and have found multiple people having the same problem with the cylinders. I believe the problem to be with the engine head because the mechanic said when he fixed the other engine he had to get the head off and get it re-machined. Also people are having the misfire in different cylinder. No warning lights were on before the issue happened.

While driving the transmission started to make a loud whistling sound and would not change gears appropriately. At 5-6 thousand RPMs the vehicle would jam into the appreciate gear and cause the car to abruptly lurch forward and shudder. Upon examination of the transmission fluid, it was black and smelled burnt, and contained bits of metal. No previous OBD codes or engine lights identified any issues. After driving an additional 5 miles the vehicle would not accelerate or engage into drive (any gear) or reverse.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
