Driving on the highway, all of a sudden, my car dashboard shows a message that " Vehicle will shut off soon" and the accelerator does not work. It was horrifying; there is no median to pull the vehicle out.

My vehicle suddenly experienced a loss of power while driving, starting at 62000 miles per hour. Sometimes the same problem occurs again after driving for several hundred miles per hour, and sometimes even after driving for tens of miles per hour. When this problem occurs, the vehicle cannot continue to drive and can only rely on inertia to slide. It must be parked on the side of the road, the engine must be turned off for one minute, and the vehicle can start again to drive normally. My car has now driven at 89000 miles per hour, and this problem has occurred countless times. At first, it occurred about once every 2-3 days, but now it occurs twice a day.
[XXX] First “Red Turtle” Breakdown on Freeway After about an hour of freeway driving, car went into “red turtle mode” (“limp mode”) on the freeway, alerting us that the engine would shut down shortly and that we needed to get to a safe place to stop. The car wouldn’t accelerate fully, putting us in danger on the freeway, where cars were speeding all around us. June 2025: Dealership’s First Attempt to Fix The dealership showed stored error codes P0A43 Drive Mode Code A Position Sensor Intermittent. But, the tech said they were unable to replicate the error. They kept it in the shop for a couple days, then sent the car home with us with no fix. They told us to restart the car a few times and it should go away. [XXX]: Second Breakdown on Freeway On [XXX], with all three kids in the car, we drove the car from Sacramento to San Rafael. On the way there–the first long car trip with the van since the [XXX] incident, the Red Turtle Alert appeared again. We were going uphill and unable to fully accelerate on the freeway, again putting our entire family in danger. We were luckily able to pull off of the freeway, restart the car several times, and continue driving–wondering the entire time whether the vehicle would again lose power, and sure enough it did. [XXX]: Third breakdown on freeway Later that same day, on our way home, the Red Turtle alert appeared again, the vehicle was unable to fully accelerate, and the message warned us that the car was about to shut itself down. This time,

This is a PHEV and upon returning to my vehicle after being plugged into a Rivian public EV charge station I found that the charger handle overheated and smoking. When I left the vehicle 45 minutes earlier it was charging with no issues whatsoever. When I removed that handle, a large piece of the charge terminal came out of the handle a remained attached to my charge port. It was one of the connecting sleeves that melted out of the charger and somehow arc welded itself to the male end of my charge port. I still cannot remove it and so now I am unable to charge my vehicle. I notified the property officials and also notified Rivian, but neither is claiming any responsibility to the damage to my charge port. I took my car my local Chrysler dealer and explained what happened but they denied any fault as well. My vehicle has less than 13k miles and still covered by new car warranty so I thought they might know why that happened. In my judgment what had happened is the charge cable itself had a weak wire or a bad, loose connection to the copper terminal inside the handle that caused high resistance and heat to build, then broke away and bound itself to my charge port once I removed the charge handle. When I try to followup with Rivian, best I can do is communicate with their front line phone customer service (they never allow me to speak with anyone authorized to make decisions about the matter), however Rivian did fix their public charger after the incident, but they're seem unint
While driving on interstate, red turtle indicator came on and engine shut down.
On [XXX] while traveling on the interstate the car issued a warning engine light and turtle image to pull off the road as the car would shut off, immediately it had no power, maybe could only go 30 mph. Took the car in on 5/10 which was the earliest appt. Said they did a software update, gave the car back. Took the car again on [XXX] when the same warning appeared again on the interstate, same situation disabled vehicle at high speeds on the interstate and no power. Said they changed a module related to the error and gave me the car back. Yesterday as I was driving on [XXX] 70 mph the car gave the same warning and shut off again, immediately I had no power, 30 mph. The dealer acknowledged my car is not the only one in his shop with this issue. They had my vehicle for nearly a month the time before. This vehicle is not safe to drive on the highways as it can shut off at any time. It's a known problem by Chrysler and their idea of fixing it, is issuing a warning which gives you almost no time to get off the highway before your speed is greatly reduced and even then you're stuck on the side of the highway with cars speeding by in an area with no shoulder or construction zone you'd be stuck in the middle of the road. Someone will wind up dead on the highway, I am lucky that in the 3 times this has happened I have not been hit and have been able to safely get to the shoulder, but I don't see Chrysler being able to fix this issue, the dealership did reach out to the manufacturer ea
On June 3, 2025, my 2023 Chrysler Pacific Hybrid gave me a warning message that it was about to shut down. This included a "red turtle" icon that I later learned is called "limp home mode." I was traveling on the interstate at highway speed at the time. I was able to pull over to the shoulder and turn the vehicle off. The risk of a car shutting down on the highway is a huge a safety risk to myself and other vehicles. Stopping on the shoulder of a highway, particularly given that it was early morning and not yet fully light out also felt very risky with other cars passing by. After turning the car back on, the limp home mode turned off, but the engine warning light was still on. I was able to re-enter traffic, which was also a safety issue having to deal with. When the dealership opened, I contacted them. They were familiar with the problem and were able to state over the phone that it was likely a transmission issue. After inspecting it that afternoon, they determined it would need a transmission rebuild. As of June 27, 2025, they still have the vehicle and have not yet made the repairs.
The van did not transition from electric to gas engine when driving and battery for the electrical engine was depleted. The dash board displayed a red turtle and said slow on dashboard. But it would not drive forward. I was on a hill and the van backed down the hill in reverse. I did this multiple times - turn off van, restart van and try to go up hill, reverse it down hill again. At some point, there was enough electricity for the electrical engine to kick in and I was able to drive home. After the van set for a while, it restarted and I was able to drive it to my ultimate destination 147 miles away. I researched online and found there is a recall for this very thing, but it does not include my car. Why is my life so hard? Its a new van to me.
I have pulled out to go across road and it was like the car wouldn't go. It would be like it was coasting. And then it would kick in hardand fast. Very very dangerous. Have you had any other people say that.? It's done it about 5 times.. where I almost got hit and or ran off road when it did go.
Vehicle displayed "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon" followed by a complete lack of power. We managed to get to the side of the highway safely. Vehicle would not turn back on until about 45 minutes later. Before we turned off the vehicle it said service charge port. Check engine light is on, even after we managed to get it started. Currently at the shop, waiting for information on why.
Driving at highway speed (70 mph) the vehicle repeatedly has flashed a warning : Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon The engine cuts power and the vehicle must be pulled over and turned off and cannot keep driving. It leads to very unsafe conditions at highway speed. The vehicle was repaired once for the defect by Chrysler but it still continues to occur and is now being repaired again.
While exiting an interstate, the van felt like it had popped out of gear and lost power, and the instrument cluster had the message "Stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon." I was in the middle of three lanes on the ramp, and due to traffic and no shoulder I was unable to stop off the side of the road. The van died at the top of the ramp at the traffic light, causing a risk of being rear-ended by approaching traffic. I had my two children in the van at the time. After attempting to cycle the ignition several times and stepping out to wave traffic around as the traffic light cycled several times (causing a traffic backup), the van started and drove normally albeit with the Check Engine Light on. I have not had the time to take the van to a dealership for diagnoses, but looking online this is not an unknown problem and is related to the Pacifica Hybrid's transmission. Just wanting to make NHTSA aware of another event of this fault occurring.
After driving 15miles home from work, stopped at a traffic light to turn left. When attempting to proceed forward van stopped with an error code that indicated "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". The van shut down, and could not move even though it was blocking the intersection. Law enforcement had to be called as it was a safety hazard, and a tow truck had to be dispatched to remove the van from the intersection and tow to dealership for warranty service. The dealer provided warranty service as per Chrysler direction, which was a software update and reseating electrical connections. However, as per the notes from the dealer, "possible a loose connection was issue but still could be internal to power inverter module." As the repair was not a definite resolution for the issue, I contact Chrysler corporate to request a more definite repair. Their stance was that they considered the car repaired under warranty, and that they would not authorize any further work. Chrysler stated that they will not do anymore work until the issue happens again. The issue is that the condition that results is that the van shuts down - and it can happen anywhere, the middle of an intersection or on the freeway at highway speeds. Basically Chrysler has told me that even though they are not sure that the fix applied may not have remedied the issue that caused the van to shut off, they will not do what is required to ensure that it does not happen again. Chrysler has put the safety of my family s
An electrical component failed while driving dangerously stranding us on the side of the road. The car has 20k miles on it and is 13 months old.
I rented this car from Budget on Saturday, May 31, 2025. When I drove it on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The check engine light came on and the car gave a warning that it would shut off. The first time I saw this notification I was stopped at a stopped sign at a 4 way intersection. The car proceeded to shut off after some time (maybe 20 seconds or so, not sure). I was at a full stop and the car was in "Drive". When the car shut off it went into "Park" automatically. I turned the car back on and put it back in "Drive". The car would not move. I check to make sure the parking brake was not turned on and it was not. I put the car in "Park" and back into "Drive" and the car still did not move. I turned the car off a few more times before it switched back into gear normally. I was unable to return the car at that time. About an hour later as I was driving on the interstate in the left lane, the same warning light came on. I had to immediately move from the left lane of a 6 lane interstate all the way to the right shoulder. There was no exit or left shoulder. Once I got there the car idled for a moment and shut off; I am uncertain how long it was before it shut off. I waited a couple of minutes since I was also shaken up at having to move so many lanes on a busy interstate with so many lanes. I got to my destination after about 30 minutes. On the way home about an hour in to the drive, the same thing occurred. I moved onto to the right shoulder of a two lane interstate at this time. This
Second row passenger seat headrest does not lock into place. After folding the seat down to put in car seats in the third row, the headrest will not lock. This would cause severe trauma if one of our many children were to be seated in the seat during a crash. The issue has not yet been evaluated at a service center, but I intend to contact them and see if the headrest can be replaced through warranty.
I received a warning to park safely, engine will shut down soon. This is the third time it has happened. One time coming down a mountain with no place to pull over safely with a van full of family members. Second time at high speed on an interstate, this time on a high speed local road, but had enough time to pull over before losing power. The van has been in the shop and/or waiting for repairs for over 10 weeks during my 53 weeks of ownership. Chrysler has delayed accepting the recommended repairs that their dealer states is necessary. I have spoken to other Pacifica owners that has experienced the same issue. Is Chrysler waiting for folks to get killed before accepting responsibility?
Letter sent to AVIS after the incident: The image included is an example and not associated with incident Concern Regarding Recalled Rental Vehicle - Avis Rental Agreement [XXX] Dear Mr. Tucker, I am writing to share a concerning experience my wife and I had with an Avis rental. We rented a Chevrolet Pacifica Hybrid for a drive from Atlanta to Chicago. About an hour into our trip, the vehicle displayed a warning message: "Stop Safely. Vehicle will shut down soon." Following the instructions, we immediately pulled over, activated our hazard lights, and called Avis emergency roadside service while consulting the owner's manual. We then decided to move to a nearby gas station parking lot for safety. While still on hold, we researched the warning online (see link) and discovered it was a known recall for our vehicle. The recommended temporary fix—turning off the car, opening and closing the driver’s door, and restarting the engine—allowed us to continue. However, the warning appeared three more times during our trip, requiring us to stop and repeat the process. Though we managed the situation, it caused unnecessary stress and could pose a serious risk for other customers. After 15 minutes on hold, we disconnected from emergency road service as we no longer needed assistance. We called back later to inquire about switching vehicles, but chose to continue rather than delay our trip even further. This raises important questions: Why does Avis place vehicles with outstanding recalls
We were driving on the freeway, 80 MPH, 0% battery life. Warning came on the dashboard stating something like “ Pull over safely, engine will stop”. Engine had already stopped and we luckily avoided impending doom and pulled off to the side of the highway. Turned car off, waited a couple min, and started the car again. Car turned on with check engine light. Able to slowly get to the next exit. Next morning, took to dealer. Say there were not able to see any issues. Van is around 28,000 miles.
I have completed recall 66B/NHTSA 24V-436 on my Chrysler Pacifica. I'm continuing to have issues where the uconnect system locks up and restarts, the rear view camera freezes or turns on when driving forward. Once the system locks up you can't operate certain vehicle controls such as HVAC as they are controlled through the system and the buttons do not respond. I tried contacting Uconnect but their phone system says "error" after multiple steps to get to a representative. I've read many other people having these issues online also. This is a serious safety issue if the controls for your vehicle lock up while driving and the rearview camera doesn't work. I've updated the system per the recall and the issues persist.
A clicking sound was heard and the dealer determined that the front axle nuts that hold the wheel hubs to the axle loosened. Dealer re-torqued to 120 ft. Lbs. and added Locktite, however problem reoccurs. Chrysler issued a Technical Service Bulletin (03-008-24) to torque the axle nuts to 228 ft. lbs. After this was done at the dealer, clicking sound was heard again in just 3 weeks. Several attempts by the dealer to correct the problem at the 120 ft. lbs. spec. and once at the 228 ft. lbs. spec. have not worked following Chrysler's instructions. Risk of hub and wheel coming loose while driving. Dealer has attempted repair/correction six (6) times.
Numerous times over the last eighteen months, our 2023 Chrysler Pacifica PHEV enters 'Turtle Mode' where a red turtle illuminates on the dashboard, and the car loses all motive power. Sometimes this occurs on local streets, but most recently it occurred during interstate driving, requiring evasive maneuvers to exit the driving lanes and get to the shoulder before all forward momentum stopped. So far, turning off the vehicle, opening the driver's side door and re-starting the engine clears the problem temporarily, but yesterday - [XXX] - the vehicle entered 'Turtle Mode' eight times during the four-hour car-ride from northern West Virginia to Northern Virginia. Several visits to Chrysler dealerships have resulted in zero fixes as they have been unable to replicate the conditions. We rented a '23 Pacifica from Enterprise. While driving 70mph on an interstate in Houston, a safety warning popped up "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". On the interstate, I wasn't able to keep my speed. Speed dropped quickly and dramatically. Luckily, I was able to get to the side but could have been hit in the process. My 2 daughters were in the car. It was terrifying. According to my research Pacifica did a recall of 67K Hybrids and their solution?? Add software that gives a warning. That was the solution. NOT TO FIX THE DEADLY ISSUE but to add a warning. [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The vehicle randomly went into limp mode. The check engine light came on with error code P0A3F. The vehicle was restarted and drove normally with the check engine light (CEL) still on. We immediately made an appointment with the dealership to get it looked at. As we were driving into the dealership parking lot the CEL cleared itself. There is an existing TSB for this exact scenario and symptoms. The dealership and Chrysler corporate (Stellantis) are refusing to fix this issue because there isn’t an “active code.” The code is in the history. Since then the CEL has come on multiple times but cleared itself too quickly to get it to the dealer in time. We took it a second dealership this time with an active code, but the code cleared itself upon restarting the car after leaving it there. This vehicle is not safe to drive since it randomly goes into limp mode with no power. This poses a very dangerous and unsafe situation that can endanger me, my family, and other drivers around me.
I want to say my first issue started in December 2024 the vehicle began to slow down lights started flashing in the vehicle the steering became difficult to turn I pulled over waited in the vehicle for over an hour with my [xxx] son and grandchildren in the car then the vehicle started I thought it was fine so I'm thinking this car is really smart it fixed it self then January it happened again I called the dealership south Chicago dodge spoke with larry they said bring it in but they were backed up I was like omg I'm not going to have a way to get around 😢 so the next problems I had called hawk jeep chrysler because they'll put me in a loaner or a rental I've done business with them in the past spoke with Ann Marie she said bring it in honey on my way to the dealership the car went crazy on the expressway and stopped on the expressway the state tow truck said you can't stay here it's unsafe mind you my [xxx] son is in the vehicle and it was freezing he towed us off the way I contacted Ann Marie I had the vehicle towed from there to the dealership long story short the vehicle has been in the shop 4 times for the same problem the vehicle has stopped on my with my family in the car numerous times in unsafe places I purchased the vehicle because it met my family needs in an a [xxx] I need a safe reliable running vehicle which has not been the case I've been paying my car note my insurance and this is the 3rd month I haven't had my vehicle mind you each time I've picked the vehic
While driving at highway speed the vehicle flashed a vehicle and I’ll shut down sign. A red turtle flashed and the vehicle began to decelerate. Had to pull over to a less than safe sand shoulder. Had highway speed traffic directly behind me. Dealership pulled codes related to the transmission. No previous issues or sign thereof. 25k miles.
On our daily commute the car came to a stop at a light and then the car then turned off and would not start again. We tried everything but the engine would turnover. After 3 hours, the car then started and we drove it to dealership and they detected no faults or codes.
The contact owns a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH while approaching a vehicle that had stopped suddenly for a traffic signal, the Forward Collision-Avoidance brake failed to engage. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the front collision system was working. The contact stated that the failure of the Forward Collision Avoidance braking system occurred again, and the vehicle was returned to the same dealer. The contact stated that the dealer had set up a soft barrier collision test and had driven the vehicle up to the barrier at 10 MPH and the Forward Collision Avoidance braking system failed to engage. The contact had taken the vehicle to two other dealers who stated that the front collision system was in operating condition. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.
Vehicle lost power on three occasions while on the highway. STOP SAFELY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON showed in cluster and began to lose all power. I had to pull over and turn off vehicle for about 10 minutes to get it to move again. Vehicle was taken to dealer and they reported the transmission needed replacement and was covered under warranty.
This is the second time this happened in one week. Incident happened immediately after being sent home without repair by the dealership. Driving down the interstate, our car displayed the "Stop Safely. Vehicle will shut off soon." Red turtle light came on, and car lost all acceleration. We managed to pull over without being hit. Turned the car off and then back on. Check engine light was now on, but the car would drive. Hybrid battery was charged at 66%. In both shutdown instances, dealership says it is unable to replicate the problem, and therefore will not look further into the problem.
We were driving on the interstate at approximately 70 mph when our car gave the warning, "Stop Soon. Vehicle will shut off." A turtle warning light also lit up. We pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off. After a few minutes, we were able to turn the car back on and drive home, though the check engine light was then on. We took it to the dealer the next day, with the check engine light still on, and the dealer was unable to reproduce or diagnose the problem. They said there were so many warning codes that they could not determine what was the problem and that if they followed what the codes were telling them, they'd have to replace the entire wiring system of the car. They also said that one or more of the codes was related to the transmission. They drove the car extensively and couldn't reproduce the shutdown. They are currently still trying to diagnose the problem with the car at the dealership. There were no warning signs from the vehicle prior to the incident. The incident occurred right around the time when we would have depleted the all-electric charge and switched over to using gas.
Keys were inside car with only an infant inside and the doors were locked with no other key fob anywhere nearby. There must have been an issue with the car’s safety system to unlock the car in this situation. There was no 3 beeps that would unlock the car. Car was parked in Walmart parking lot in the heat. Remote start was on, key fob was in drivers seat. The last door to close was the drivers side rear sliding door. Wife called me from a shopper’s phone since hers was also locked in the car. I frantically drove with the other key fob a few miles to where they were to unlock. It was a traumatic experience for her and our son who was stuck inside the car. Thankfully I got there in time to unlock with the other key fob and everyone is okay.
We have had our 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid since [XXX]. This was a factory ordered vehicle. There have been no indications that there is any issue with the vehicle. About a week ago while driving the vehicle a warning came on the speedometer screen that said "Pull over safely the vehicle is about to turn off". The check engine light also came on. Once the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the vehicle turned itself off. After waiting a few minutes the vehicle was able to be restarted and driven about 5 minutes home. The check engine light remained on. We did not drive the vehicle again until we were taking it to the dealership to be inspected. The check engine light was on the entire drive from our home to the dealership, which is about 10-15 minutes. The vehicle has now been at our local Chrysler dealership for 6 days. The technician at the dealership is telling us the code stored in the vehicle memory means it needs a new transmission. We are being told they need to replicate the issue for the warranty to cover a new transmission being put in. If they cannot replicate the issue, we are to take the vehicle back and continue to drive it until it happens again and then immediately have it towed to the dealership so they can receive warranty approval to replace the transmission. My research has revealed this is a known issue in Pacifica Hybrids regarding stalling due to a transmission sensor. I called Chrysler to clarify the warranty process
We have less than 3K miles currently on this vehicle. We were traveiling to the mountains for a vacation when the check engine light illuminated. Stayed on for 2 days and reset itself. We were in the Smokey Mountains and a warning came up to "Stop Safely Vehicle will shut off soon. Within a few minutes, all power was lost, all lights were inoperational including the 4 way hazards. After just a few minutes, the van restarted and operated as if nothing happened. The check engine light stayed on long enough for a Chrysler dealer to read the codes. Esentially, a problem with the High Voltage System Interlock Circuit A, Drive Motor A Inverter Performance are the major codes. A slew of others all related to this issue. The hybrid mechanic stated it is the same issues that plague the 2017-2021 Pacificas hybrids. Losing all power is not acceptable, especially in the mountains with a vehicle less than 4 months since delivery.
While driving with my young family my vehicles engine shut off and all steering was lost going appx. 50mph. As the the vehicle shut off, a warning popped up and said “stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon.” This was very dangerous and could have caused a life treating injury.
The contact owns a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V436000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the back-over prevention camera displayed still images, with blackouts, or was inoperable. The failure had become more persistent and then became a constant failure. The contact had to restart the vehicle to regain functionality or correct the malfunction. While turning off and restarting the vehicle, the radio was randomly activated without driver input. The contact believed that the failure had caused additional failures with other control panel functions such as the radio, heating, and the A/C system failing to activate as needed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I was driving my vehicle in a local road at speed about 20MPH and suddenly got a warning saying "Stop safely, Vehicle will shut off soon". Then the gas pedal stopped working. It was on the middle of the road. I switched off my car and started it again a couple of times and that warning was gone but the engine light was on. I was able to drive the vehicle and so the next day I went to the dealer to find the issue. After 4 days the dealer said they couldn't replicate the issue and also the engine light was not on anymore and so they returned my vehicle without doing anything. After a week I was driving on a freeway with all my family members (6 of us), 75 MPH the same thing happened again. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder, since the gas pedal was not working. I switched off the car and switched on then I drove the vehicle. This happened at least 6 to 8 times on my 300-mile drive. It was really scary that the vehicle got a weird warning and the gas pedal stopped working in the middle of the road. At one place there was no shoulder, so I had to stop on the road itself. After coming back, I dropped my vehicle with the dealer to find the issue. It's been 2 weeks but they are saying they couldn't replicate the issue. I bought this as a brand-new vehicle on April 2023, and it's just 14 months old.
On the afternoon of May 26, 2024, I received a warning "Stop Safely - Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". I pulled to the side of the road but was still in an active traffic lane in a traffic circle and cars had to stop and/or swerve to avoid hitting my car. If this had been at night my safety would have been even more greatly compromised. The engine promptly shut off and would not restart. I was towed to the nearest dealer which still has not diagnosed or repaired the car. This may be related to recall 23V-010 and the ongoing RQ24004, of which the dealer had no knowledge. I took delivery of the car, a 2023 Pacifica plug in hybrid, on March 25th and it has less than 4000 miles on it.
Lost engine power on highway with warning on the dash "Stop Safely, Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon"
Vehicle was purchased in February 2023, starting in January 2024 when vehicle was running and stopped, auto/start stop would engage but the entire vehicle would shut down and not restart. We would have to shift to park, turn off, remove foot from brake then wait 1-5 minutes to restart. Took the vehicle into Rochester hills Chrysler jeep dodge and after several days of troubleshooting they replaced the steering module and claimed it was faulty. 24 hours after picking up the vehicle the same issue happened again. Took the vehicle back in annd they showed 15 different error codes that came up. Left the vehicle there for service and after a week of troubleshooting they were finally able to recreate the issue. They claim it was the RF transmitter in the tailgate causing the issue. If you are experiencing the same issues I recommend asking about the RF transmitter and steering module.
The contact owns a 2023 BraunAbility Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and using the power chair with hand controls, the drivability was terrible. While driving at various speeds, it was difficult to stay in the intended lane. The Lane Sensing feature was loose and failed to the vehicle failed to steer correctly. While driving at various speeds, the steering wheel was stiff. While making turns, the vehicle rocked. The driver turned the feature off. The contact stated that there was a 3- or 4-inch clearance between the underbody that was lowered once the driver and power chair occupied the vehicle, which continuously scraped the roadway. There was an abnormal rumbling noise detected from the vehicle. The ramp failed to unfold flat when exiting the vehicle. While using the ramp to enter the vehicle, the ramp was difficult to unfold. The vehicle continued to shake due to the exhaust system. Additionally, while utilizing the rear cargo area, the vehicle drove roughly. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 2,500.
Service hybrid electric vehicle system
I was driving in Virginia in a rental and the check engine light came on then the following message came on "get to a safe place the car is going to stop". A few seconds later the vehicle shut off and stop in the middle of traffic. I did not have time to pull over. I turned everything off and restarted the vehicle it was fine for about a mile then it happened again. I waited about 10 minutes before starting the vehicle to take it back to the rental company.
Vehicle has an auto start/stop feature which turns off the engine when the brake is applied and the vehicle is at a full stop. When stopped at a traffic light with the engine auto stopped, driver lets foot off brake when light turns green, but engine fails to start. Vehicle remains stopped in an active traffic lane, or potentially in the middle of an intersection. A chime and a display message guides driver to shift to park and manually restart the car. Has happened at least five times in 6,900 miles we have owned the vehicle. Dealer service department could not reproduce or find any log of the event occurring. They told me it needs to happen more frequently so they can reproduce it. I find other reports of this problem online going back to at least 2018.

I have a 2023 Pacifica with around 3k miles. I purchased brand new. In the few months that I have owned the vehicle, it has turned off about 5 times while driving. It loses all power. Engine, power, etc completely dies. I need to restart the vehicle, wait for start-up, and then I can continue driving. The vehicle has currently been at Arrigo Sawgrass Chrysler since 07/13/2023. Arrigo continues to say "They can not duplicate the issue and it does not show on computers " I called Chrysler Corporate for escalation. They told me that they have no record of the vehicle being in a repair shop until 07/25/2023. The bottom line is, this is a real problem. I have a 4-year-old, 2-year-old, and 2-month-old plus myself and my wife in the vehicle. What if this repeats and the car turns off in an intersection with a semi coming or worse? I understand the computer is not always accurate and it's a new vehicle. I do not feel safe if they return the vehicle without correcting the issue and do not want my family to be the test dummies for an issue that can be prevented. Chrysler is impossible to intervene and the dealership is only doing what they can. However, they don't get paid if they cant find issues so it's a tough situation.Thank you in advance.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
