Back in July 2023, we received a letter from Chevy stating that our vehicle, 2014 Chevy Traverse, has a recall for the driver airbag being faulty and that they do not have a remedy or parts to fix the recall. It has been a 4+ months with no other word. Just recently my airbag light has come on saying the airbag needs servicing. This makes me very uncomfortable to drive our Traverse. My husband called the Chevy manufacture number they provided on the original recall notice and they confirmed that there are no remedies or parts to fix this recall still. What exactly are we supposed to do now??How do I drive it and not be worried that if someone hit my car or anything minor happens, that my airbag won't deploy and shoot metal at my face/neck?

My airbag warning light comes on intermittently and the dealer has said the parts are not available for me to get the airbag fixed. The letter I received from Chevrolet said not to drive the car and that there was no remedy. I would like a replacement vehicle until the parts are available to fix the airbag.

2014 Chevy Traverse - stalls while driving very abruptly. Reduce engine power and service stablitrak comes on. Then traction control warning lights flash. Very very dangerous. Happen while driving car begins to shake violently and recently stalled in middle of busy intersection. No way this should not be recalled it's definitely a known issue. Unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic was unable to provide a cause for the failure. Towed to Chevy Dealership in Lancaster NY - Basil quoted $4k+ for repair to engine control relay and timing chain. If there is recall on this we will keep and get fixed if not will need to pass and look at other vehicles. Everything starts to go after warranty dates are up or after you hit a certain mileage. We have always purchased GM vehicles my father is GM retiree. Please help.

I have been to two dealerships and there is no remedy for this recall. I asked to have the airbag on the driver side deactivated but was told that this was not possible " legally" because it would put the dealership at risk for liability. Well, GM is at risk for liability if I'm in a crash where this airbag might deploy. Can I have this airbag deactivated while I wait for a remedy? What are my options?

I took it in to have the recall fixed, they told me they couldn't fix it, that I should not drive it, do not let a passenger ride in the front, they are having an issue they haven't encounterd with the other traversese he contacted somone to find out what to do and as soon as they get a letter he will let me know. I asked if it was safe to drive the look on his face was absolutely not, to just park it, and borrow or rent one, I do not have the money to do this, he said that I should be very very careful not to do anything to set off the airbag and only drive it if there is no other option, I made it clear there was not. I have had 5 close calls that could have set it off a few, inches were how close it was the last one someone almost hit me . I have a daughter I have to take to and from school the busses don't come out where we live. I just want it fixed,

To Whom It May Concern: I received a letter from [XXX] the Vice President of Global Product Safety and Systems of Chevrolet General Motors in June 2023 concerning a safety recall: N232404980 From the letter I received: "General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014 model year Chevrolet Traverse vehicles. As a result, GM is conducting a safety recall." However, parts to repair my vehicle are not currently available. It is now October 2, 2023. When I called the Customer Service number provided I was directed to Platinum Chevrolet in Santa Rosa to make an appointment to remedy this situation. I was told they still do not have the parts available for the front-driver airbag inflator. I am very concerned about this because I use this vehicle to transport myself and family to and from work and school. In the safety recall letter I received it also states: "In these vehicles, the front-driver airbag inflator may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may results in inflator rupture deployment. An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants." Please let me know how I can get this situation resolved. I need to use this vehicle to provide for my family but I do not want to die from driving a car that I am paying for. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C.

I received a recall notice back in June about a problem with my car's airbag inflator. To this date I still haven't heard from GM or anyone else about getting this potential deadly problem fixed. They indicated that the part to fix the issue isn't available. How can that be?! They issue a recall but don't have the part even months later?! I'm worried about this issue as, according to their own letter, that if the airbag deploys I can possibly be injured or killed! Why don't they have the part?! When am I going to be able to get this issue rectified? I do a lot of driving & on major highways & places where there are many careless dangerous drivers & chances of animals crossing the roadways. GM is putting my life at risk more by not having their safety features be safe! They may be the ones to cause a death. That is simply by not having their safety devices in proper working order & not having the part to correct the device so that this issue can be promptly taken care of! Please let me know asap what can be done so I can get this issue fixed & be safe driving my car without at least this defect to worry about.

[XXX] I WAS GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND THE STABILITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. ENGINE REDUCED POWER LIGHT CAME ON I LOST ALL POWER OF THE VEHICLE, I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND FORCED OFF OF THE ROAD BECAUSE MY ENGINE DIED. I WENT FROM DOING 70 MPH DOWN TO 10 MPH AND CAME VERY CLOSE TO GETTING REAR ENDED. This would have caused a chain reaction rear end crash with multiple vehicles. WHEN I GOT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD I WASN'T ABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE STARTED. I waited about 10 minutes tried it again. It turned over with yellow engine light remaining on. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. 1 HAVE SEEN WHERE THIS IS A PROBLEM IN THIS YEAR MODEL OF THIS VEHICLE AND WONDERING WHY IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET BY THE MANUFACTURER BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THERE LIFE. This is my only vehicle and I feel that it is unsafe to drive. I have a one year old granddaughter and her safety is at risk. Please help fix this problem as we need a car to drive. After receiving the recall information that the airbag deploy throwing shrapnel through the cabin, we contacted GM to discover that no replacement is currently available. We asked for a rental car since our current vehicle is potentially lethal for my wife and children. They were unwilling to provide that. we now have a vehicle that is potentially deadly that we have no remedy for and no solution for transporting our family safely

Chevrolet recalled the airbag in my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse in May due to faulty mechanisms that may release shards of metal during airbag deployment: Takata airbag inflators. After multiple phone calls to both my local Chevrolet dealer and corporate, noone is able to assist me with this matter. The replacement part is unavailable, and they cannot say when it will be available. They are offering no remedy in the interim, e.g. no rental car, etc. I also inquired about the order in which owners would be eligible for replacement when the part is ready, and no information was available. In my last phone call to Chevrolet Customer Service, I was read a statement in which they claimed that customer safety was their first concern, however, it has been three months since the recall and my family is still at risk of serious injury/ death driving in our vehicle.

What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
