I want to file a complaint on Chevy I have a high country, 2021, my dealership has had it for over 2 months, can't get the part to fix it - valve body- They have another one there, that's been there for 5 months, can't get the part. So, 2 Tahoes at same dealership, same problem, and can't get the part to fix. I have escalated to chevy, have a case number, chevy themselves can't get the part to fix my truck. But I still have to pay for it-big payment for something, I can't drive, isn't worth anything for trade and useless- I am furious. I have been a lifetime chevy owner-and this is changing my mind. Last nights communication with chevy escalation please read: Dear STACEY, We have the following update for your 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, case number [XXX]. We are still experiencing a delay on the part(s) needed to repair your 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. We understand this is a significant inconvenience and we continue to work diligently to resolve the delay. Thank you again for your patience and please contact me to discuss any additional questions or concerns you may have. I can be reached at the number listed below or emailed at [email protected] (please reply with history to this email for fastest response). AND MY RESPONSE: Thank you for the update. After I washed my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, I went to run some errands. As I pushed the start button, the car would try to start but did not. I tried several times without success. I had the truck towed to Ed Morse Chevrolet in Sunrise, Florida. My odometer is at approximately 43,000 miles. About 3-4 months ago, at 42,000 miles, I had the same situation. I had to have the truck towed to Ed Morse. At the time, the Service Writer told me it was probably the fuel cell module and that Chevy has been a problem with them. The Service Writer surprisingly admitted that this issue could cause the truck to stop in the middle of your commute! I told him that an issue this serious needs a recall. So, today, when AAA picked up my truck, he said that this happens frequently and he towed many Chevrolet Tahoes and pickup trucks with this issue. The AAA technician even reiterated that the fuel cell modular failure shuts down your vehicle while driving! This is insane and troubling. Within 1000 miles, I will need 2 fuel cell modules and there is no guarantee that this one will last. I'm [XXX] so not much night driving. The other night I left a meeting when I turned on headlights one is pointing down. Difficult to see and hard to stay between the lines. My vehicle has never ben in an accident nor had lights repaired. Checking online I see this is a problem for many Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon owners and perhaps even pickup trucks. In my opinion this represents a serious safety concern. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2 incidents of complete engine power loss while driving. Luckily was able to roll off road safely to curb. Dashboard glitch/flashing multiple/various message, including check engine, conditions not ideal to shift, etc. Would not re-start/shift when attempted. Tried disconnecting battery cable completely and re-connecting and that seemed to 're-set' the system and engine re-started. Incidents were about 30 days apart. "This battery reset" was tried because approx 1 year prior after leaving Tahoe parked at airport for a 7 day trip, it would not start, completely dead. Battery charge/jump would not work...watched youtube videos and someone said to try disconnect/reconnect cable and it worked to start it up at that time & did take it into Dealership after that incident and no-cost repairs were made for that issue. Called Chevy 3/25/25 on this power loss while driving issue to ask for information/assistance, they advised to take to dealership for diagnostic info/report and depending on result/cause might assist with costs to repairs. Appointment set for 3/28/2025 with Salem Oregon Chevrolet.

Transmission control module failed. I was driving at about 40 mph on a 4 lane street and it begin to feel like something was pulling the steering wheel to the left and I could not control the speed. I then pulled off into a parking lot and was facing a drainage ditch and needed to back the car into a space out of the way, it would not go into reverse. My husband met with me and was able to drive it forward to drive it to a dealership. The diagnosis was a failed transmission control module that cost us $2,478.

Approximately 4/14/24 while I was driving home from being out of town with my child the check engine light came on with a message “Reduced acceleration drive with care.” The car was not shifting and I couldn’t go over 45 mph and the rpm’s were about 3000 at that speed. The light went off and the car seemed to be driving normally. While on the interstate traveling at approximately 70 mph the car did a hard shift and drastically slowed while the rpm’s spiked. I took it to the dealership who determined the valve body needed to be replaced. Approximately August 2024 it happened again but the light went off. December 2024 same issues with the check engine light, reduced acceleration and not shifting happened. Took the car back 12/9/24 where a wire was replaced. Picked the car up 12/12/24 and 12/18/24 while driving in the car rider line picking my child up the car had a hard shift, check engine light came on, reduced acceleration message and the car would not shift. Valve body for 10 speed transmission suddenly malfunctioned while driving on I-95 at 60mph causing rear wheels to lock up for couple of seconds. Then, Engine rpm went to 5000. Error message displayed"reduced acceleration, drive with care" and "Unable to shift soon, service transmission soon". Upon taking to dealer, service advisor mentioned that it could be valve body issue. which is very common for these vehicles. After diagnosis from dealer, there were two codes: P0770 and P0776. Upon some research it was found that these issues are indeed very common for 10speed GM transmission. But, GM hasn't done much to address it. GM acknowledged the issue in their Oct, 2023 bulletin. This is a safety issue especially at highway speeds.

Vehicle just lost propulsion and would not move. Engine was running but just came out of gear and went into neutral at 70mph. Pulled off highway and vehicle would not go back into drive. Would not go into any gear except park. After a while it went into drive and would not go over 30mph. Limped into a nearby dealership and dropped it off. It took GM 47 days to figure out the issue yet the new part was installed immediately. Some sort of computer calibration glitch and GM didn't know the answer till I threatened a lawsuit. Still not confident it was repaired correctly. Dealership was fine and informative but GM blew me off.

Fuel module failure while driving, engine stalled and would not restart.., while at highway speed. Very dangerous situation!!!!! Tahoe was towed to dealership kept for. 1day. Chevy dealer replaced fuel module. We have owned 6 different Tahoes starting with the year 2015 to 2024. The fuel module failed on the 2021, 2022 and now the 2023!!!!!!! Makes us question if we should purchase a new Tahoe every other year? Seriously considering other car brands such as Ford, BMW or other more reliable brands!!!!

At 35,000 miles, my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe started to misfire. When I pressed the accelerator, the truck started hesitating and the check engine light started flashing. I was able to get the truck to the dealer I purchased it at. The technician "claimed" it was a bad fuel injector. The dealer replaced the spark plug and injector. The vehicle was never test driven. I picked up the truck and drove it on the road. Within 1 mile, the truck started to misfire again with the check engine light started flashing. The dealer claimed that the lifter or lifters in one engine bank were bad. The dealer replaced the lifters on the one side of the engine.

GM does not install TPMS devices in spare tires. I had a flat tire in snowy conditions 100+ miles from the nearest place for assistance. After putting on the spare tire the DIC (driver information center) displayed no air in tire. That’s because a TPMS doesn’t exist in spare tires. I started driving a my four wheel drive turned off. I turned it back on and after a very short distance it turned off again. Since the vehicle determined I didn’t have air in one of the tires (spare previously mentioned) the four wheel drive shouldn’t work to prevent damage. I needed the four wheel drive in the snow so I had to proceed at approximately 25 mph. This is a safety issue for not only my vehicle but others on the roadways. I contacted the dealer that had no idea about the problem and neither did the national GM customer support center. There is a tool that “tells” the vehicle where each tire is located so that is low tire pressure occurs the driver would know which tire needs attention. If a TPMS was installed from the factory and a flat occurred, spare installed then the four wheel drive would function. If a flat subsequently occurred the driver would still be alerted but wouldn’t know tire was involved. Visual check would find it. Either this or have GM provide an override so the trip could be continued safely. I believe that this situation applies to any four wheel drive vehicle not just GM and should be resolved if the NHTSB would initiate an investigation.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Engine began misfiring and check engine light and ESC warning indicators displayed as I was driving. I pulled over and shut off vehicle, read manual and restarted engine. Same problems occurred, so I drove to Chevrolet dealer which was a mile away. The advisors said I shouldn’t drive it on the expressway or any further since engine had known problems that GM was aware of and it would blow up. Scans showed P0300 & P0305 for Cylinder 5 misfire. Major Repair included replacement of all lifters and push rods on both banks and the camshaft taking 17 days. This engine should have a GM Recall due to its severity. I was told the engine usually blows up before the warranty period is over and GM would just fix it. Unfortunately for me, my engine failed after full warranty and while I was traveling out of state to a family wedding, costly me directly. GM did pay half of the cost of repair which indicates admitting fault. The major safety concern is when an engine blows up and the driver cannot control the vehicle causing accidents or fire (and being stranded). There were No previous indications or symptoms of engine failure prior to date the problem occurred. Police departments in Illinois have had the same problem with this engine and their entire Tahoe fleet needed a new / repaired engine. This is an unacceptable action by GM to just wait for the problem to occur instead of proactively recalling the engine for repair.

This is a fairly new vehicle, so to be told we need a new engine when we’ve had the car for only 4 years is ridiculous! We were driving one day and heard a knocking sound coming from the front of the car. We made it home, but when we tried to leave the next time, we only made it halfway down our driveway when we heard a loud knocking noise from the front and the car suddenly stopped. We were dead in the water and needed to get the car towed back to our house. The gear shift was also stuck in drive and we couldn’t turn the car on. The engine had completely seized up. The tow truck driver had to get underneath the vehicle in order to disengage the gear shift and allow us to shift into neutral so that we could get it back home. When we had it towed to our mechanic, they told us that it was a bearing failure and the connecting rod had caused our engine to seize up. I’m just glad we weren’t on a major highway or busy street at the time this took place. This is supposed to be our family vehicle and it has been out of commission for more than 6 months because we haven’t been able to afford to replace the engine. We’ve tried contacting GM directly, but they said we were beyond our warranty and there was nothing they could do to help us.

GM has a known issue with engine lifters on this model engine that fail around 60,000 miles. Customer service managers even stated so themselves and GM has a TSB related to this. Repair bill is $5K-$6K if it doesn’t bend the cam shaft and upwards of $10K if cam is bent. This is a huge safety issue because vehicle fails while in motion, shakes violently, and numerous safety features the driver relies on turn off.

Statement of Safety Issue for 2021 Tahoe Transmission Vehicle Information: Make and Model: 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe VIN: [XXX] Issue Description: I have been receiving the warning message "Service Transmission. Unable to Shift Soon." multiple times, specifically on [XXX] and again on [XXX]. This issue is particularly concerning as there is an existing recall on the 2021 Tahoe for a transmission problem that can cause the rear wheels to lock up or result in the vehicle suddenly losing the ability to shift, as explained by a GMC transmission technician. Attempts to Resolve: I have contacted multiple dealerships to attempt to get my transmission diagnosed. Unfortunately, all dealerships within my area are backed up with transmission work for 4-6 weeks. I have spoken to multiple dealership service departments and have been informed that there are numerous vehicles currently experiencing this same exact issue. Some vehicles are continuing to drive, while others are being stranded on the side of the road, unable to shift. Safety Concern: The safety concern, as stated in the recall, is that my rear wheels may lock up or my vehicle may suddenly lose the ability to shift. This is particularly alarming for me as I have to drive over a large steep bridge every day to go to work, and there is no emergency lane while traversing the bridge. They either did not test fuel pump properly, or, fuel pump was not bad, only the module. Or, if bad, the module caused the fuel pump to fail. I contacted the dealership and they said bring it in. I could not get it in again as I was very busy. I asked them to make a note in my file of the immediate call/report of still a problem. I took the vehicle in this month (October 2024) for issue of no starting (fuel pump failure, another recall they are denying). They stated that the Drivers Side Airbag module was shorted or bad and my cost would be approximately $1,250. They stated it was not covered under any recall. I contacted Chevy corporate that offered to cover 30% only of this. I believe this should be covered in whole due to the failure to repair the first time and that is is a known safety issue. The vehicle has only 10,800 miles.

Engine would not start. When pressing the start button, engine would turn over but would only rough idle for a few moments then turn off. Called garage and had vehicle towed. Mechanic advised computer showed defective fuel pump power control module. Mechanic advised GM has recall N212332040 for defective fuel pump power control module but my VIN is not included. Mechanic ordered fuel pump power control module from GM and replaced on my vehicle. This corrected the problem. I am requesting my VIN to be added to the recall and GM to pay for the part, labor and towing.

While my wife was driving her car going down a slope, Her brake pedal fell to the floor loosing brakes and would not return to normal position for a few minutes. I took the vehicle into the dealership over two weeks ago and they have not been able to re-create the situation that took place while my wife was driving the car and still have not returned the vehicle. My concern is that my wife will not feel comfortable driving the car with our toddler and new born if there is no actual repair.

It’s happened about 10 times since I’ve owned the car but the dealer can’t recreate it so we are out of luck. The vehicle accelerates on its own. Scenario 1…with constant light steady acceleration, it will lurch forward like I’ve stomped on the accelerator a bit, for about a second then go back to my normal input. Scenario 2, same lurch but this time while coming to a stop at a stop sign WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ONLY. scenario 3…I’ve been using the adaptive cruise control and had it disengaged by braking, coming to a stop, then parking and turning the vehicle off. Then after getting back in and starting up and slowly pulling forward, the cruise control suddenly and abruptly renegages and attempts to accelerate to the last demanded setpoint. Image this scenario pulling out of a spot at a crowded gas station with pedestrians. I almost ran someone the hell over just now at the gas station and I’ve had enough. The dealer won’t do anything and when I called Chevy engineering they put zero effort into it, it was a 20 second phone call stating if it can’t be reproduced at the dealer there’s nothing they can do. This is absolutely completely 100% dangerous and unacceptable

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
