I BROUGHT MY '13 SILVERADO IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE THE A/C WOULD NOT COME ON AND DEFOG THE WINDSHIELD IN THE RECENT SNOW STORM. THE SERVICE REP (CORRECTLY) INFORMED ME THAT THE A/C COMPRESSOR WILL NOT TURN IF THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 40F. SO NO FIX BY THE DEALER WAS DONE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN COLD/FREEZING WEATHER CONDITIONS WHERE THE WINDSHIELD FOGS UP SEVERELY WHEN YOU GET IN THE TRUCK. THE FOGGING CONTINUES EVEN AFTER THE HEATER IS WARMED UP AND BLOWING HOT AIR OUT THE DEFROSTER DUCTS ESPECIALLY IF THE PASSENGERS ARE WET OR SNOWY WHEN THEY GET IN. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT GM IS TRYING PREVENT THE A/C EVAPORATOR FROM BEING BLOCKED BY FREEZING CONDENSATION, BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS SITUATION COULD BE HELPED BY RECIRCULATION OF CABIN AIR PLUS BLEEDING SOME HOT AIR FROM THE HEATER CORE BACK TO THE A/C EVAPORATOR. THIS ISSUE REALLY NEEDS TO BE FIXED SO THAT THE TRUCK IS TRULY AN "ALL WEATHER VEHICLE" IN FALLING SNOW BELOW 40. *TR

Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
