PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. AFTER INSPECTION I FOUND THAT THE REAR STEEL BRAKE LINE FAILED. IF I HAD NOT BEEN PULLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND ON THE STREET I MAY HAVE CRASHED AS A RESULT. THE FAILURE POINT IS RIGHT BESIDE THE DIESEL TANK ON THE FRAME RAIL. *TR

Newest filingsI HAVE A 1999 CHEVROLET GMT-400 PICKUP WITH ABS BRAKES. THE ABS SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE, CAUSING THE ABS TO ACTIVATE AT LOW SPEEDS,SUCH AS IN PARKING LOTS. I HAVE HAD A LOT OF CLOSE CALLS DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION HAD A RECALL ON 1999 CHEVY SILVERADOS DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THEY REMOVED AND CLEANED THE ABS SENSORS AND COATED THEM WITH A SUBSTANCE TO PREVENT FUTURE RUSTING OF THE COMPONENTS. I WENT TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO CHECK ON THIS RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS THE SAME AS THE 1999 CHEVY SILVERADO AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. I LIVE IN THE SO CALLED "RUST BELT " AREA INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER FOR ME. THANK YOU. *JB
CONSUMER NOTICED GAS DRIPPING FROM THE TANK, TOOK TO SERVICE STATION HE WAS TOLD THAT THE TANK WAS SEVERELY DENTED AND HAD RUPTURED, REPLACED FUEL TANK. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND FUEL REPLACED FUEL TANK. *YD

Reading this record
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Most recent recall on file: none. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
