It is clear that it's a manufacturing problem with the seals for the headlights in this vehicle. There are many of the same complaints concerning visibility and water log inside the headlamps. I am having this same issue. Because of the water log inside of the headlamps, this could cause electrical damage. The seals in these headlamps aren't sealing correctly and water from rain is flooding the inside of my headlamps, especially the driver's side. A recall should be given for these faulty headlamps. 2011 Cadillac SRX - FWD

I have had my vehicle about a month I have a 2011 Cadillac SRX I have had it in the shop at least 3 weeks since I had it due to the headlights being out or damaged by water they have worked out about $6,000 on my vehicle to have the bulbs burner ballast and igniter replaced and replaced my passenger side lens but they did not replace the driver side and it accumulates a lot of water all the time if it's a pretty day it's still keeps water inside I think the cover needs to be replaced due to water getting into the headlight or any type of moisture I've been seeing that this is been an ongoing problem with these vehicles I feel like if I just bought the vehicle I should not be responsible for replacing the lens on the driver side because it is a safety issue and it's more dim than the other side I think these should be recalled
I'm stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. I received a recall notice in August 2021 and again in November 2021 and reached out to Cadillac to find out how to resolve this issue. I was told that someone from Cadillac would contact me. I received another notice November 2022 due to the recall not being resolved. I'm not getting a response from Cadillac. How do I resolve this issue being stationed overseas? I'm not scheduled to return until February 2025 and the Government will not ship a vehicle if there are any RECALL notices on the vehicle. The GM safety recall is N212340980. Requesting assistance in resolving this RECALL notice. Thank you.
On Feb 24, 2020 Cadillac sent letters notifying owners of Cadilla 2010-2015 SRX that they will replace the headlamps or reimburse any out of pocket payments for headlamp replacement or service. I had headlamp bulb replaced and sent the invoice to GM for reimbursement I had to resubmit my claim with the proper invoice and information from the repair shop who tried replacing my head lamp bulbs. I did this within the time frame requested. Now they have informed me they have closed out the reimbursement and will not reiumburse me for the headlamp service i had done in april 2019 to try and improve my headlamps with replacement bulbs. I have emailed all this information and attached the bulb replacement invoice to cadillac begining in Oct 13,2022 and they still are aguing they will not reimburse me. They call me weekly, email me weekly, since 9/13/2022 to tell me nothing and they will not reimbuse me for a recall they initiated! They call me weekly to tell me this and emial me the same form letter

I was traveling on major roadway 95 south on the eastern part of MD .I had just exited off the highway as i was exiting and braking my brakes went totally out. This could have been a deadly accident for me and others .I had my car towed to the a cadillac dealership for repairs . Headlights are leaking and allowing moisture to enter into the headlight assembly. In turn, this is causing headlights to rust and fail early. Additionally, they fail without warning, thus potentially leaving the driver in the dark. Very serious safety issue. Dealer contacted and stated they were, at one time, reimbursing car owners, however they are not doing so now. Cadillac states that since my car was purchased in Florida, they would have taken care of the issue, but they are no longer doing reimbursing customers for repairs needed to make the car safe to drive.
Immediately Upon picking my 2011 Cadillac SRX up from Don Thornton Cadillac for Recall on the Rear Toe Link, I had more problems with my car than when I dropped it off.I immediately called and let them know my car would not accelerate,I still had something wrong with my battery, I had warning lights on my display that were safety issues, such as SERVICE AIRBAG,SEATBELT,service stabilitrak, service rear axle, service traction control, service park assist, service suspension,"battery saver mode",service brakesThey told me it would cost me $50 to have it towed, whatever the cost for them to diagnose, the cost to fix whatever was wrong. The General Manager told me that the problems with my car when I brought it in:(issues related to the Rear Toe Link Recall)IE:service stabilitrak, service traction control, service rear axle, swaying in the back.Something was wrong with my battery and powersteering.I took it to another GM certified dealer, and"the ground was burnt and melted the rear fuse box,the ground to the fuse box was fried." The "pre-invoice" I received when picking my car up from Don Thornton Cadillac said "performed wire repair to ground wire".I paid $1,178.24 for faulty repairs. After finding out that the work they performed, was not fixed at all, the right rear wheel hub was loose, the melted wires going from the back up to the front wires, I am now without a car.COMPLETELY. Don Thornton Cadillac is not taking responsibility what so ever for the problems, SAFETY ISSUES, that I had

Received Recall notice (#N212340980), contacted several dealers and ALL said the same thing: if you did not purchase the car here, then appointments are six weeks out! Finally, went Tremonte Cadillac as they were kind enough to take the car in sooner; brought the car there and within fifteen minutes I was told "you are all set", thanked him and left. On the way home the "Service Rear Axle" message came back up again! Being the weekend I did not contact the dealer. The next day the light came back on and the vehicle information center would not display. Contacted the dealer and they said to bring the car back. The fact that the dealer is 45mins away, my difficult work schedule and being told the car can be driven, you just lose the AWD capability, I opted to wait till the fall. Also several attempts to contact Cadillac by phone, email and letters-with not one response! I am writing you at this time as we detected the car pulling to the right and loss of AWD system. Hoping your office can assist us. Respectfully, [XXX] and [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My headlights are so dim i cannot use my car at night. It started a while ago I have replaced the lights but they become dim and the moisture in the headlights is terrible it is so dangerous to drive my car at night i cannot move it once it is dark. I have searched and found that this is an ongoing issue not only in my 2011 model but all Cadillac and is a known issue that Cadillac refuses to take responsibility for. I received a letter during the high of COVID stating they would reimbursement if you had gotten it fixed but i got the letter in May and time to get the repair and the reimbursement had passed. live in NY and everything was shut down for quiet sometime so perhaps the letter was sent internationally at that time so i couldn't take advantage of the offer. My understanding is that it will be around $1600.00 to repair the headlights which i feel i should not have to bear after paying so much money for my car this is a manufacturer defect and they should bear the responsibility to correct and fix my car. I purchased my vehicle and paid 48K which wasn't cheap I should not have to pay additional out of pocket due to their poor workmanship and parts.
Headlight goes out after rain. Fogging and condensation can be seen, when headlight doesn't work. Takes several days to dry out and come on again. Headlight will cut off will driving if raining.
The contact owns a 2011 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the stability service and service tracking control lights were illuminated. Master brake cylinder/ABS Hydraulic unit failed. I noticed that while driving my vehicle at 35mph coming to a stop I had to press or pump my brakes to come to a complete stop. One one instance I had to brake abruptly and the brakes failed (pressed to the floor) so I swerved onto the shoulder to not cause a rear end collision. There was no warning or anything, I took the car to the dealer and was told that it would cost me $1700 to repair and that the problem is wear and tear. After doing my research I'm now discovering that it is a known problem. Please do your research because THIS IS A SCARY situation.

My headlight assembly have been taking in water for about a year. Last year I had to replace the ballast on one side. Last week we had a lot of rain and while driving home both of my headlights went out. I’ve looked up the problem online and found out I’m not alone. Cadillac did send me a notice last year about a settlement they made for similar issue but the notice they sent me stated it was for models with halogen bulbs. My vehicle has HID. I have called several dealerships and was told the part cost about $1400.00 each. I want to replace both sides. They say they don’t have both available. My guess is there’s a shortage because everyone has this problem. Cadillac should have been made responsible for selling this garbage. This is a safety and consumer problem. How can I drive my vehicle if I can’t even replace the part ?

On multiple occasions, when I have had to panic brake, either due to snowy weather conditions or when I had to brake hard while on the highway, the brake pedal loses pressure and I am barely able to stop for some time, thereafter. Later, the pressure returns to normal. I have taken the vehicle to the repair shop on multiple occasions, and the techs have been unable to reproduce the problem. This is a serious problem, and could lead to serious injury or death. Please issue a recall immediately and force the manufacturer to fix this. Thank you.

My brake pedal has gone to the floor at random times while driving. When it happens, approx. the last 10% of pedal travel has limited braking power. After this occurs, the pedal will return back to normal, after a day or so. This situation occurs after the ABS system is activated during a hard stop, sliding on ice or snow, or when the ABS is triggered. I have seen reports on internet that indicate that this issue can be caused by the ABS control module (part no. 20842710) having internal valve/seal leak failure. The theory is, once the ABS is activated and diverts fluid to the wheels that have traction (still spinning), the ABS valves.chambers stick open. Problem is the part - module is currently unavailable throughout North America.
The contact owned a 2011 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph and approaching traffic ahead the driver depressed the brake pedal to stop and the vehicle suddenly lost control, spun out, and drove into the opposite lane before two other vehicles crashed into it. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The VIN search confirmed that the NHTSA recall campaign 21v473000(suspension) was present. The contact believed the incident was related to the unrepaired recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

SENATOR SHERROD BROWN WRITES IN BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT REGARDING THEIR 2011 CADILLAC SRX. CONSTITUENT STATED THAT THEIR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALERSHIP TURNED OFF THE FAILURE CODES JUST BEFORE SELLING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO NEED AT LEAST $6,000.00 WORTH OF REPAIRS, SHORTLY AFTER BEING PURSCHASED. THE REAR AXLE AND EMISSIONS WERE POINT OF FAILURES.
The headlights, driver and passenger, repeatedly fill up with water/condensation and cause the light to short completely. This is dangerous for night time driving as it impairs visibility and is also illegal. When I asked a repairman about a replacement I was told that it’s useless as the replacement parts are made of the same components and I would pay thousands of dollars to eventually incur the same problem because it is a design flaw. There is no warning that the light is going to short. It just shorts but it usually is when the water has built up inside the light. If it rains or snows I’m guaranteed to get water in the lights and with large accumulations of precipitation is when it’s for sure shorting out from water/condensation buildup. I have had the lights short at least 4 times over the last two years.

Car has stalled out 5 times since NOV 12,2021 to Nov 22, 2021 and now the car has broken down in the middle of the road and will not start back up. We were at a red light when it just turned off and does not work now. It was smoking and smelled horrible like burning plastic. I had to remove my kids from the car because they could not breath anymore.
Engine timing chain had stretched and jumped a notch on the sprocket, which caused the check engine light to come on, and that's the only reason I knew there was an issue. If I had kept driving it and it jumped another notch, it would have stalled, making the vehicle hard to control. I've read numerous other owners have had the same issue with this vehicle.

The exterior housing units prematurely wear out and allow moisture to cause failures of the lights. The makes driving at night hard, because you can barely see. GM tried to give some customers a rebate, but this required owners to pay out of pocket at first for repairs, and this causes me an undue burden because I don't have that kind of money. This is very dangerous and GM should recall this.
In Sep 2021 I purchased this car. During the first drive after dark I noticed the headlights were very dim and the high beam only extended to just go just past the front of the car. these are the up-level HID lights. I didn't do anything right away as I rarely drive at night and then in well-lit areas. There is also considerable condensation inside primarily the passenger side light. On Oct 23,2021 I went to Caddilac of Bentonville, AR to inquire about an open recall on the rear end. They are ordering parts. While there I inquired about the headlights and asked if there was a recall on them. The answer was there is no recall established but that it is a known problem by Caddilac. Today, I started started an Internet search for more information and found 166 problems noted on Web Site carproblemzoo.com. Nearly all stated it as a serious safety issue. Some reported near accidents, lights burning out while driving, condensation inside, dimness, etc. Fortunately I haven't had an accident nor have they burnt out. However, I do consider the problem a very serious concern. I can drive into oncoming traffic with high beams on and get zero reaction from the oncoming drivers. Actually, dim as they are, the low beams provide better light. This obviously has been a long-time problem on this and other like vehicles. There are 160 complaints on carcomplaints.com including crash and injury. Caddilacsociety.com says customers have been promised reimbursement for expenses but apparently littl

The headlights get water inside and at times enough water to cause the headlight to fail. I have had both headlights fail as a result of this. Cadillac is aware of this design flaw and was only willing to reimburse customers who were able to pay for the replacement lights up front. This is not fair to people who have purchased Cadillacs who were not able to pay, especially considering that it is a design flaw. These cars are way too expensive to have such a flaw and for it to be as costly as it is.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
