2014 Cadillac ATS

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Cadillac ATS sedan vehicles manufactured April 23, 2012, to September 2, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the coil antenna module that powers the rear defogger system may generate excessive heat due to excessive cycling or continuous operation.

Risk. If the coil antenna generates excessive heat, there is an increased risk of a fire.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the Electronic Climate Control module to remove the automatic rear defogger "on" function, free of charge. The recall began on October 16, 2015. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 15299.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Cadillac ATS vehicles manufactured April 25, 2012, to June 25, 2015. The affected vehicles may experience the roof panel closing automatically when the non-recessed switches are pressed and the roof panel is open. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 118, "Power-Operated Window, Partition, and Roof Panel Systems."

Risk. Because the switch is not recessed, the roof panel switch may inadvertently be pressed resulting in unintended auto-closure of the roof panel, increasing the risk of personal injury.

Remedy. GM will notify owners and dealers will replace the roof console accessory switch trim plate, free of charge. The recall began on August 19, 2015. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 15568. Note this recall supersedes 15V-106.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Buick Encore and Cadillac ATS; 2014 Cadillac CTS, ELR, Chevrolet Caprice and SS vehicles; and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Trucks. Due to an incomplete weld on the seat hook bracket assembly, the front seats in the affected vehicles may not stay secured in place during a high load condition such as a crash.

Risk. A seat that does not stay secured increases the risk of occupant injury in a vehicle crash.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat hook bracket assembly weld and replace the lower seat track, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on August 15, 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), and 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14340.

Defect. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS vehicles manufactured April 23, 2012, to March 20, 2014, and 2014 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured June 10, 2013, to March 20, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable may detach from either the bracket on the transmission shifter or the bracket on the transmission.

Risk. If the transmission shift cable detaches while the vehicle is being driven, the transmission gear selection may not match the indicated gear and the vehicle may move in an unintended or unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, despite selecting the 'PARK' position, the transmission may not be in 'PARK.' If the vehicle is not in the 'PARK' position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Remedy. GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure the cable is properly seated at the transmission and shifter brackets, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in early August 2014. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14179.

In August 2026, at approximately 99,639 miles, my 2014 Cadillac ATS was taken to an authorized Cadillac dealership for service. During the inspection, the dealership discovered and diagnosed a leaking right rear axle shaft seal. I was not aware of the leak beforehand and did not receive a warning light or message indicating the condition. The dealership’s written repair order states that the right rear axle shaft seal was leaking and that the right rear axle seal was replaced. The repair was completed at my expense. I have the dealership repair order and invoice documenting the diagnosis, mileage, parts replaced, and repair. After the repair, I researched this issue and found other NHTSA consumer complaints involving rear axle/differential seal leakage on 2014 Cadillac ATS vehicles. I also found GM manufacturer communications addressing rear axle leakage on certain Cadillac ATS vehicles. I am reporting this failure so NHTSA has a record of another rear axle seal leak involving a Cadillac ATS and can determine whether this condition may represent a broader defect or safety trend. I do not know the specific underlying cause of the seal failure and am not asserting that it has been established as the same cause as any other reported vehicle. The failed seal was replaced by the dealership. Documentation of the diagnosis and repair is available upon request.

My 2014 Cadillac ATS experienced a transmission shift cable/linkage failure. After driving normally, I pulled into my garage and moved the shifter to Park. The physical shifter was in Park, but the instrument cluster continued to indicate Drive (D). The vehicle would not recognize Park, the shifter became stuck, and the vehicle would not restart because the transmission was still being detected as being in Drive. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Cadillac dealership for diagnosis. The dealership confirmed that the range selector lever cable had detached from the shift shaft. Their written diagnosis states that the plastic retainers securing the cable failed, causing the shifter to show the wrong drive mode. The dealer recommended replacement of the range selector lever cable. I later learned that this vehicle was previously subject to GM Safety Recall 14179 / NHTSA Recall 14V-338 concerning the automatic transmission shift cable. GM records show the recall was completed in 2014 through inspection; I was informed that no replacement part was installed at that time because none was required. I am reporting this because the vehicle has now experienced a shift cable/linkage detachment that appears similar to the failure condition addressed by that recall. This created a safety concern because the physical shifter position did not correspond with the transmission gear indicated/engaged, and the vehicle could not reliably be placed in Park. Service rear view camera message on randomly and then the camera goes blank. Independent service center diagnostic scan reported: FAULT B127B Rearview camera input signal circuit missing reference (Symptom 2B) - History DTC.

Vehicle transmission shift cable failed. This part is considered recalled, but GM is refusing to fix.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Cadillac ATS. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase of the vehicle. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 83,000. It was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was 128,555.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac ATS. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the "Power Steering Fault Drive with Care" message was displayed on the instrument panel and the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. The contact researched and was became aware of an undisclosed recall; however, the VIN was not included. A dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 172,000.

My airbag system light has been on now for over two years. My exact vehicle the prior year and after has had a recalled and mine has been missed. GMC wants 2000.00 to replace my airbag situation and my car only has 66000 miles on it for god sakes. Please have my model vin on recall list so my passengers will be safe. This is the second time I have emailed you and no response was given yet. Please recall my airbags.

Rear differential issue

I was driving the car and trying to put the car in park at the stop light. The car shifter moved, but the shifter wasn't going into any other gear. The shifter moves forward and back, but nothing happens. I almost got in an accident and my dad had to help me park the car. I saw this is a past recall issue and I called Cadillac and they stated I needed to tow my vehicle there and there are no open recalls, so it will be out of pocket. They can't even see my car until the 31st at the soonest. I could've been seriously injured or injured someone else.

After routine maintenance (oil change) at Cadillac of Knoxville on 5/7/2024, I was notified that my rear differential was leaking. After I arrived back home, upon further research, I found that this was a common problem for this make and model of car and that there was a recall for Cadillac ATS' manufactured between 2013-2016. After calling GM's customer service line, the representative expressed that my VIN did not register under the specific recall and therefore would not qualify for a replacement rear differential. This is a problem in which can total my vehicle, though no problems besides the leak have occurred as of my knowledge. There was no indication before the oil change on 5/7 of a leak, no warning lamps or other telling signs. If I had not brought my vehicle for its routine maintenance, I would not be aware of the situation.

My engine RPM would randomly lock to 4000 rpms while driving, i could rev the car or apply the brakes but it will sit their until it decides to respond. This has happened a few times and mostly down hill and flats. Difficult to replicate. Cooling system has been a plague at around 80k miles i've had to replace a clamp at the back near the water outlet flange which i was quoted $2000 for just the labor alone as the engine would need to be removed.And the water pump failed at around 82000 miles. Also plagued with P06DE "Engine Oil Pressure Control Circuit Stuck On" error code a few times now.

What are the cooling hoses that carry coolant from the engine to the radiator busted not once but twice. It has many electrical problems even when cleared with an OBD2 sensor they will still come on. The power steering is completely off and malfunctions.

My airbag is defective and other vin numbers on my make and model and year were recalled and mine hasn’t and doesn’t work. Light still remains on. I have low mileage on my car too. Please do a recall on my airbag for my vin. I also have replaced my Cue system twice already . My model vin hasn’t been recalled for that either. I should be reimbursed for having to keep on replacing it.

My ball joints on both sides were completely gone, my struts have given out repaired all at the same time, because of those things going out it completely ruined my tires to where they squeak down the road. Both differentials are leaking and my transmission shutters, I also had to replace my water pump that was leaking cooling everywhere

Power Steering locks up when trying to turn under 20 mph. Have found other safety recalls through GM for the same issue on the 2014 ATS and have contacted a dealer but they have stated it is not for my VIN #. Has happened multiple times before and the local dealer said nothing could be done because they could not duplicate. I had called another GM dealer and they sent me a safety recall bulletin pertaining to the issue.

The car just blew out the airbags and the steering locked up

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac ATS equipped with Bridgestone Tires, Tire Line: DriveGuard Plus, Tire Size: 225/40/R18, Dot Number: EJ17CMM0922. The contact stated that while attempting to change a flat tire on rear passenger’s side of the vehicle he noticed cracks on the tire. The contact inspected the other three tires and noticed the same cracks. The contact stated that all four tires where replaced. The dealer was contacted and a claim was filed. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact back to the retail store. The failure mileage for the vehicle was 170,000. The tire failure mileage was 2,500.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac ATS. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while attempting to accelerate. There was a howling sound coming from the driver’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rear differential failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle not been repaired due to the part being on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was inoperable. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac ATS. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH on the highway the transmission was shifting irregularly and the vehicle started to decelerate. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact was able to pull off to the side of the roadway and waited 10-15 minutes before restarting the vehicle. The contact was able to drive safely to an independent mechanic however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,396.

Rear axle differential failed.

The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac ATS. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the gear shifter was engaged but the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission shift cable had detached, and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V338000 (Power Train). The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that her VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000.

WHITE HAZY WEB LIKE OBSTRUCTION SUDDENLY APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY OF THE CUE SYSTEM. IT OBSTRUCTS 35% OF THE SCREEN AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO UTILIZE THE BACK UP CAMERA. IT WAS FINE ONE DAY AND THEN THE OBSTRUCTION APPEARED THE NEXT DAY. IT IS GARAGE STORED AND I HAVE 44,000 ORIGINAL MILES.

STARTED MY CAR ONE DAY AND THE CUE SCREEN WAS BLACK AND UNRESPONSIVE. I DO NOT HAVE ANY FEATURES NEEDED TO FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR (BACK UP SCREEN, RADIO, BLUETOOTH, NAVIGATION, AIR CONDITIONING, TEMPERATURE CONTROL, ETC.)

CUE SCREEN STOPPED WORKING

CUE SYSTEM AND SCREEN BROKEN FOR SECOND TIME. SAFETY ISSUE EVERY TIME I DRIVE. UNABLE TO USE PHONE OR NAVIGATION.

AS I WAS DRIVING MY SCREEN WENT BLANK WHILE I WAS USING MY NAVIGATION SYSTEM TO GET AROUND AND ENDED UP BEING LOST AND HAD TO STOP AND ASK FOR DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO GET BACK HOME. THE CUE SYSTEM WENT DOWN.

CADILLAC QUE DOES NOT WORK. CHANGES CHANNELS ON ITS ON. TOUCH SCREEN DON'T WORK. CAN'T CHANGE CHANNELS. CAN'T USE HANDS FREE BLUE TOOTH. CHANGES ON THE DASH.

REAR LEFT/REAR RIGHT AXLE SEALS LEAKING REPORTED TO ME ON 06/01/2020 WHILE 2014 ATS WAS IN FOR SERVICE FOR TIRES AND COOLANT LEAK MILEAGE 71,538. I WAS ADVISED IT'S A VERY SLOW DRIP AND IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF RIGHT AWAY BUT TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT VEBALLY OVER THE PHONE. I LOOKED BACK ON MY SERVICE RECORDS AND THE LEAK WAS DETECTED ON 03/20/2020 BY THE DEALER BUT R.0 CLOSURE DATE IS NOTED AS 03/18/2020 I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF A CRITICAL REPAIR NEEDED ON THE DRIVE AXLE (REAR DIFFERENTIAL LEAK) ODOMETER ON 03/18/2020 59,750. THE SEALS SHOULD NOT BE BREAKING AT THIS MILEAGE... THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT'S A MASSIVE ISSUE WITH THE CADILLAC ATS. THIS IS GOING TO COST AROUND $1500.00 TO FIX NOW... WHICH IS OBSURD. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THIS AS PER MANY ONLINE REPORTS THAT I'VE READ ONLINE.

MY CADILLAC QUE SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE AND DELAMINATED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2014 CADILLAC ATS. THE SCREEN ON THE QUE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY FROZEN AND DELAMINATED FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW AND I AM UNABLE TO USE ANY FEATURES WITH MY QUEUE. THIS HAPPENS IF THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR AT A STOP THE QUEUE IS JUST GONE.

THE CADILLAC CUE GLASS IS SPIDER CRACKING. THIS UNIT HAS BEEN REPLACED ONE ALREADY. IT SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN STATIONARY OR OVER NIGHT

CAR FAILURE MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN STOPPED. CAR SHUTS DOWN WHEN STOPPING AT STOPLIGHTS STOPSIGNS. RPM'S FALL TO ZERO, THEN CAR SHUTS DOWN. SOMETIMES IT WILL SHUDDER BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN. WHEN STARTING CAR BACK UP, IT WILL SHUDDER AND SLOWLY TRY TO START. THIS HAS PUT ME IN SOME DANGEROUS SITUATIONS ON THE ROAD. *TR

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOTAL LOT AS IT WAS DESTROYED BY THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,500.

THE VEHICLE SHAKES WHILE IDLING,HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THE DEALER SHIP VERIFIED THAT THERE IS ENGINE VIBRATION DUE TO DEFECT IN ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS. ITS VERY SCARY FEELING. FEELS LIKE THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF.

THE CUE SYSTEM BECAME UNRESPONSIVE ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO AND WILL RANDOMLY CHANGE MY RADIO STATIONS. TODAY THE FILM UNDER THE TOUCHSCREEN LOOKS CRACKED LIKE IT IS SPIDER WEBBING. THIS IS THE SECOND CUE SYSTEM IN MY CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. THE FIRST ONE FAILED AFTER 2 YEARS AND WAS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. THIS SECOND ONE STOPPED WORKING AFTER TWO YEARS AS WELL. IT IS SAD THAT THEY PUT A PRODUCT IN A $56,000 CAR THAT CANNOT LAST LONGER THAN 2 YEARS. *TR

MY CADILLAC ATS CUE SCREEN OR TOUCH SCREEN HAS CRACKED FOR THE SECOND TIME. GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS POOR QUALITY GLASS/ADHESIVE. IF THE CAR GETS HOT OR COLD THE SCREEN CAN NOT HANDLE THE TEMP CHANGES. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY AND OVERNIGHT THE CUE SCREEN CRACKED. IT IS A GARBAGE PRODUCT. *TR

54,189 MILES ON CAR CURRENTLY. SINCE JUNE OF 2019 MY CAR/ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AT A RED LIGHT, OR A COMING TO A STOP SIGN (BASICALLY COMPLETELY STOPPED OR COMING TO A STOP). ITS EVEN SHUT OFF WHILE IN REVERSE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE GEAR IS STILL IN DRIVE. SO I THEN HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK,PRESS THE BRAKE AND START IT AGAIN. IT SPUTTERS TO START AGAIN, BUT IT STARTS. ITS GETTING MORE FREQUENT, WITH IT STOPPING UP TO 3 TIMES AT ONE STOP LIGHT, AND THEN HAVING TO RESTART IT AGAIN. THERE ARE NO CODES ON THE DASH. IVE BROUGHT MY CAR INTO CREST CADILLAC MULTIPLE TIMES TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE THIS ISSUE. THEY CANNOT FIND THE ROOT CAUSE, AND IT STILL HAPPENING MOST RECENTLY TODAY! THERE IS A NEW BATTERY, ALTERNATOR TESTING IN GOOD CONDITION. THEY HAVE TESTED THE BATTERY CABLES/LINES. THIS IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING. MY CAR HAS STOPPED ON ME WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND TURN INTO A LANE AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BC MY ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I ALSO CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD WITHOUT A DIAGNOSIS THEY CANT HELP. IVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON DIAGNOSTIC TESTS WITH NO ANSWERS. I NEED HELP PLEASE

AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON,AND CONTINUES TO REMAIN AS SUCH.VEHICLE SERVICE LIGHT TEST WAS COMPLETED.

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY APPROXIMATELY 70MPH. VEHICLE SUDDENLY BUCKED TWICE, A FEW SECONDS LATER A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AND REDUCED POWER APPEARED IN THE MESSAGE CENTER. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW ITS SPEED. I HAD THREE MILES UNTIL NEXT OFF RAMP. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SLOW AS I GOT IT OFF HE HIGHWAY. ONCE OFF THE HIGHWAY I PULLED OVER AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. I NOTICED FUEL GAUGE WAS READING EMPTY, BEFORE PROBLEM WAS APPROX. 1/4 TANK. VEHICLE KNOW HAD A HEAVY FUEL SMELL. I HAD VEHICLE TOWED HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY I INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM. ( I AM A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC WITH OVER 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. ) THE FUEL GAUGE READ EMPTY AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I ADDED APPROX. 1 GALLON OF FUEL AND TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE. GASOLINE IMMEDIATELY POURED FROM A FUEL LINE AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE. I REMOVED THE ENGINE COVER AND NOTICED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS LOOSE FROM THE ENGINE. I CHECKED THE SUPPLY FUEL LINE AND IT WAS VERY LOOSE OR BROKEN. REALIZING DAMAGE WAS COMPREHENSIVE AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY I TOWED CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY UNCOOPERATIVE AND CHARGED ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A BROKEN FUEL LINE. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO INVESTIGATE WHY THE PUMP CAME LOOSE FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD. THEY SAID IT JUST HAPPENS AND IT WAS RETORQUED TO FACTORY SPECS. THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT TEST DRIVEN AFTER REPAIRS WERE MADE, I WAS TOLD IT WAS BUT IT HAD NO GAS REGISTERING ON THE GAUGE AND THE MILEAGE HAD NOT CHANGED FROM TIME OF DROP OFF. I P
