Defect. BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2006-2011 3 Series Sedan (324i, 325i, 325xi, 328i, 328xi, 330i, 330xi, 335i, 335xi), 2006-2012 3 Series Sportswagon (325xi, 328i, 328xi), and 2009-2011 3 Series Sedan (335d) vehicles. The original steering wheel may have been replaced with a sport or M-sport steering wheel equipped with an inflator that can explode during deployment.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the driver's air bag module as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 30, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Risk. An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

Remedy. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver air bag. On X5 and X6 vehicles, only the inflator will be replaced. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began March 11, 2020. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Defect. The wiring and electrical connectors for the system that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system may overheat.

Risk. Wiring that overheats could cause the electrical connectors to melt, and increase the risk of a fire, even when the vehicle is unattended.

Remedy. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wiring and electrical connectors, free of charge. Interim letters were mailed on November 27, 2017. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Risk. Should the system fail, in the event of a crash, the front passenger air bag would be deactivated, increasing the risk of personal injury.

Remedy. BMW will notify owners with an interim notification letter in January 2014 since parts are not currently available. When parts are available, BMW sent a second letter in August and dealers will repair the occupant detection mat to eliminate the possibility that it may crack, free of charge. Additionally, owners of model year 2006-2007 3 Series with standard seats, 5 Series with comfort seats, and Z4 models, will receive an extended warranty on their front passenger seat occupant detection mat. This car is unsafe for anyone to be seated in the front passenger seat even when buckled as the red seatbelt and red airbag turn on and stay on until the passenger unbuckles and exits this vehicle.

After a visual inspection, the contact then observed flames within the engine compartment, shortly after which the entire vehicle became engulfed in flames. Emergency services arrived and were able to extinguish the flames. No warning lights were illuminated. A fire report was filed. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. I was driving to my appointment about 3 weeks ago. When all of a sudden I start to smell smoke. I started to brake at the light when I seen flames coming from underneath my glove box. I pulled over as fast as I could by that time my entire glove box with my documents were on fire.The only thing I had was a gallon of apple juice so I put that on the fire to put it out. That was the only I could contain the fire. From that point my car wouldn't turn back on. So I had to pay to get my vehicle to my home.

There is a Manufacturer Recall - NHTSA Recall Number22V119 this affects the PCV VALVE HEATER, which may not have been produced to specifications which could lead to a short circuit. I was advised a remedy was available to fix this defect, brought my car to the BMW dealership of Greenwich/Mamaroneck service department located at 110 Midland Avenue, Port Chester, on 8/4/2022 at 9:45 a.m. I was told this would be completed that same day. I was not given a loaner and have no other means of transportation, but to date, a full day plus later, my car has not been returned nor repaired and I have received no return phone calls from my assigned service person, Reinaldo Cruz regarding its status. i have emailed and called him both without success.

My car is experiencing electrical failures explained in this recall: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 13V044000 There is a complete loss of power to the vehicle, I need to manually open the trunk, wiggle the positive terminal of the battery to get the power back. This seems to be known issue as identified in the NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 13V044000 When reported to the dealer, they declined to fix the issue as part of recall for the reason my VIN number does not show up in the system for this specific electrical issue. The only way the dealer would address is through charging me for diagnostics and fixing.This seems to be a widespread issue with the model year of the car I own, I expect BMW to fix this as part of the existing recall campaign.

DASHBOARD INDICATES, "ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK ENGAGED". CAR IS CURRENTLY DRIVABLE, HOWEVER THE DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED OFTEN IN THIS YEAR AND MODEL OF BMW, AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORSEN UNTIL THE CAR WILL NO LONGER TURN ON. THE MALFUNCTIONING FEATURE (STEERING WHEEL LOCK) HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM SUBSEQUENT MODELS, INDICATING THAT THE MANUFACTURER RECOGNIZES THE MALFUNCTION. REPAIR INCLUDES REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN, COST TO REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $1300.

CRANKSHAFT SENSOR STOPPED WORKING WHILE ON HIGHWAY SPEED, COMMON ISSUE WITH THE BMW 3 SERIES

AIRBAG LIGHTS KEEP GOING OFF, SAYING "FAULT IN PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM AFFECTING AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER, OR BELT FORCE LIMITER. CONTINUE TO WEAR A SEAT BELT. PLEASE CONTACT THE NEAREST BMW CENTER." OR "FUNCTION OF THE AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONERS, AND BELT FORCE LIMITERS FAULTY. ENSURE THE SEAT BELT IS FASTENED DESPITE THE FAULT. HAVE THE PROBLEM CHECKED BY THE NEAREST BMW SERVICE CENTER". THESE LIGHTS COME ON EVERYTIME THE CAR IS STARTED, DEALERSHIPS CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT, AND ANY ATTEMPT TO CLEAR THE CODE DOES NOT WORK.

WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AS WELL AS STATIONARY THE WINDOW PINCH PROTECTION LIGHT FLASHES AT 30 SECOND INTERVALS ALONG WITH AN AUDIBLE NOISE. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING AND THERE IS NO WAY TO TURN OFF THE NOISE OR NOTIFICATION. ONCE THE WINDOW PINCH PROTECTION HAS BEEN RESET ON EACH WINDOW THE NOTIFICATION REMAINS FLASHING EVERY 30 SECONDS WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. THIS AUDIBLE NOISE IS HEARD WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND CREATES AN UNSAFE DISTRACTION. *TR

I BELEIVE YOUR RECALLS WERE NOT DONE AND CAUSE A MASSIVE FAILURE THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED DANGEROUS CONDITIONS TO OPERATE VEHICLE UNDER.

PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS LIT EVEN WHEN PASSENGER IS SITTING. THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE AS TO IF THE PASSENGER SITS DOWN WITH THE CAR ON OR OFF, IF THE BELT IS FASTENED WITH THE CAR ON OR OFF, MOVING OR STATIONARY.

I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL FAILURE ON CERTAIN BMW'S. RECALL 13V044. MY VEHICLE BAD A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN EARLY DECEMBER 2019. IT NOW SITS IN MY GARAGE. APPARENTLY MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL WHICH I CANNOT UNDERSTAND. IT EXHIBITS ALL THE FAILURES INDICATED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. PLEASE HELP

THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A GARAGE. WITH VEHICLE EITHER RUNNING OR NOT RUNNING, WE WERE UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AS WE WERE UNABLE TO UNLOCK AND OPEN BOTH FRONT AND THE LEFT REAR DOORS, FROM THE INSIDE (USING THE DOOR LEVERS, CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM BUTTON, AND REMOTE) OR FROM THE OUTSIDE (USING THE DOOR HANDLE, KEY, AND REMOTE). THE ONLY WAYS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WERE TO CLIMB THROUGH A WINDOW OR OVER THE FRONT SEATS (DIFFICULT) TO ACCESS THE RIGHT REAR DOOR. TO GET THE DOORS TO UNLOCK, I NEEDED TO REPLACE A FUSE IN THE FUSE PANEL AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FOR AT LEAST 30 SECONDS. THIS COULD BE A DEATH TRAP IF IN AN ACCIDENT, HIGH WATER, EXTREME COLD, ETC.

FAILED PRESSURE MAT SENSOR, PASSENGER AIRBAGS DISABLED BMW FAILURE CODE (93C3 OC3) SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED, HOWEVER EXISTING RECALLS DO NOT COVER MY VIN. CURRENT CONDITION LEAVES PASSENGER AIRBAG DISABLED.

RECALLS FOR VALVE HEATER AND BLOWER MOTOR WIRING CANNOT BE FIXED UNTIL MARCH 6, 2019. THIS DATE IS VERY FAR AND THERE SHOULD BE CLOSER DATES TO REMEDY THESE PROBLEMS.

THE SEATBELT LIGHT IS ON AS IF THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE CAR WITHOUT A SEATBELT ON. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND THE ENGINE LIGHT AS WELL. THEY ALL POPPED UP AROUND THE SAME TIME.

HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY FOR THE BLOWER MOTOR WIRING RECALL NOR THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. WHAT IF MY VEHICLE IS ONE OF THE ONES THAT START ON FIRE, THEN WHAT? IF THERE IS A RECALL, THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS POTENTIAL PROBLEM, SO WHY ARE MANUFACTURERS ALLOWED TO HAVE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF TIME TO COME UP WITH THE FIX?

OIL INTERVAL WARNING CANNOT BE RESET UNLESS THE TOTAL MILEAGE IS LESS THAN 180,000 MILES. BMW CONFIRMS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM.

MY PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT FOR THE SEAT KEEPS GOING ON I'VE HAD THIS RESET TWICE AND IT JUST KEEPS COMING BACK ON AND NOW IT DOES NOT GO OFF . I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO IT OBVIOUSLY WASN'T FIXED.. I WAS DRIVING THIS LAST TIME WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 328XI. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V676000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 17V683000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER (BMW OF SOUTH ATLANTA, 4171 JONESBORO RD, UNION CITY, GA 30291, 678-228-8373) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE RECALL REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE WOULD RECEIVE A LETTER WHEN PARTS ARRIVED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

THERE ARE TWO OUTSTANDING (FOR WHICH I HAVE RECEIVED WRITTEN NOTICES) DEFECTS ON THE CAR. I GOT THESE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017. I HAVE CALLED BMW SEVERAL TIMES TO GET A STATUS AND THEY HAVE, ON EACH OCCASION, TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT YET ABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS. IT IS NOW 10 MONTHS LATER. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS LONGER THAN ONE SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR ITEMS THAT DEMAND WRITTEN NOTIFICATION OF DEFECTS. SO, I AM WRITING TO ASK YOU TO ASSIST IN GETTING THESE RECALL ITEMS ADDRESSED. TRANSFER CASE NOISES

RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES IN OCTOBER 2017 FOR POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER AND BLOWER MOTOR WIRING. BMW HAS NOT CONTACTED US SINCE THEN TO DO THE REPAIRS, AND RECALL WEBSITES STATE THEY'RE NOT YET READY TO DO REPAIRS. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR! THIS IS A FAILURE ON THEIR PART TO REMEDY A SAFETY MEASURE IN A TIMELY MANNER.

I HAVE FUEL LEAKING FROM THE TOP OF MY FUEL TANK. I HAVE NEEN ADVISED THAT IT IS A FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT OR A SEAL. MY FUEL PUMP WORKS AS MY CAR IS OPERATIONAL. THE LEAK OCCURS WHEN THE GAS TANK IS OVER HALF FULL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL.

THE TWO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLA HAVE BEEN IN INTERIM PHASE SINCE OCTOBER OF 2017. I PERSONNALY KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS THE SAME RECALLS AND THEIR PARTS HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. I WANT MY VEHICLE REPAIRED ASAP

FUEL PUMP IS BURNING OUT AND LIQUID ISN'T PASSING THROUGH THE TANK PROPERLY. THE CAR IS OVERHEATING ANF FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO START FIRE.

I HAVE A RECALL FOR MY BMW 07 328XI SINCE NOVEMBER 2017. THE RECALLS ARE BLOWER MOTOR WIRING AND PCV VALVE HEATER. PROBLEM NOT RESOLVE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 328XI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ONLY DOOR THAT OPENED WAS THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR. THE OTHER DOORS FAILED TO OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000. *TT
