While driving my Alfa Romeo Giulia on [Insert Date], the vehicle's sunroof unexpectedly shattered without any prior warning or identifiable external impact, posing a sudden and severe safety risk. The shattering glass resulted in minor cuts and significant distress while I was operating the vehicle, thereby jeopardizing my safety as well as potentially that of other road users. Upon the occurrence of the incident, there were no prior symptoms, warning lamps, or messages indicating a potential problem with the sunroof. This issue had not been previously identified during routine maintenance checks, nor had there been any modifications or repairs done to the sunroof since the purchase of the vehicle. The vehicle has since been inspected by a service center where I initially received incorrect information about my warranty coverage, leading to further complications and delays in addressing the issue adequately. No third-party modifications have been made to the vehicle, and all services have been conducted according to manufacturer recommendations. This incident appears to be due to a failure or malfunction of the vehicle's sunroof system, which should be robust enough to withstand normal driving conditions without such occurrences. I am concerned that this could be indicative of a larger issue that may affect other vehicles of the same model.

My wife was driving the alfa on a tree lined winding country road when the car died without warning. The road has no hard shoulder so it was shuck on the road. My wife had to get out of the car and wave at to warn other traffic that the car was stuck on the road just around the bend. this went on for about an hour until the tow truck arrived, she was very stressed out as there was some close calls with traffic braking at the last second. The cause of the problem was the fuel pump failing, code P008. I am trying to source a replacement pump and during my research discovered this failure is common with 2017 and 2018 Alfa Giulia models. I am quite upset that they have not made this a recall, because the risk of being in an accident due to a car suddenly losing power is quite possible.
I was on the highway ramp picking up speed, and the car suddenly started to loose thottle. I pulled over to the side and the car went limp. The car shut off. I attempted to turn on the vehicle and it would not. The car was taken to an Alfa Romeo dealership and they confirmed that the fuel pump and fuel pump relay are both the cause for the vehicle not gaining any power and not remaining on. The car is still with the mechanics.
IN OCTOBER 2023 WHILE DRIVING THE FUEL PUMP SUDDENLY LOST POWER RESULTING THE VEHICLE TO STOP DEAD IN THE ROAD CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A TRAGIC ACCIDENT. TODATE (1/31/2024) A REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP CAN NOT BE LOCATED.
When driving at highway speed car stalls. When you pull over car will not restart. Codes that t come up are: U0415,P008A,P062A,P0087 which point to a fuel pump error. This has happened 5 times while driving on highway and is very dangerous.
Fuel pump fails when hot outside or prolonged use. Has happened multiple times a week. Was driving, get a low pressure fuel code, and then engine sputters and stalls. Dealership said its a known issues and are trying to charge me $2500 to have the fuel pump, fuel control module, and software reprogrammed for the new design that doesnt fail with heat. This is a known issues and I had to pull over with no power, almost got hit by another car. This is dangerous and should be a recall! The dealership said they stock those pumps for this specific problem and alpha is fully aware. Please advise. The fuel pump behaves fine when it is cold out, below 50 deg F.
Auto start stop flashes Throttle body control warning then vehicle stalls
Fuel pump failed while driving causing car to go into neutral with no power. Had to have it towed after risking my safety on a busy road. Had to pay for a new fuel pump and repairs at dealer. This happened in 2023 a few months back.
I have a 2017 Alfa Romeo giulia TI on several occasions between the dates of September 2023 to current November 21st 2023 I have had a series of low pressure fuel codes pop up during numerous Diagnostics it was found to be my in tank fuel pump during further research it was found it was a TBS on it and feel it should be cool due to the fact that wild traveling in a high-speed Lane at 80 miles an hour the car shut down I had myself and my family in the vehicle on another occasion I had myself in the vehicle in the slow lane knowing that this may come up or feeling this may come up and it shut down doing 65 miles an hour at any point in time we have been rear-ended and killed. On several occasions it has shut down but luckily turning into a parking lot on secondary roads this unfortunately has caused so much stress for my wife that she will not get into the car my children won't drive in it and my daughter doesn't want to get in any car cuz she doesn't trust them this is very very unsettling even at the fact that I have to pay for it and the stress is caused my family it's crazy to think out of all the vehicles I've ever owned in my life BMWs Porsches Chevrolets and Dodges I've never had to worry about a fuel pump going in this fashion without any safety mechanism set up I really hope to receive a response soon as I am actively getting it fixed and feel I should not even have to be putting out any money for this let alone the amount of time it's going to take for my kids to be
The Sun roof won’t close and is so distracting while driving on highways You can’t concentrate and this happen before but the dealership fixed under warranty and happens again and again and I did some research and it happens a lot in this cars same problem the last time was today sometimes full open and the most won’t close the corners
Was driving my 2017 Giulia on a busy interstate, and everything was perfectly fine until 3 error messages popped up: service engine, service electronic throttle control, start/stop unavailable. Then the engine cuts off and the car shifted into N gear. It was a very horrifying experience as the semi-truck behind me almost crashed into me since my car lost power. I tried to restart the car but with no success, the engine will sputter for 3-5 seconds and gave up. Plugged in the OBD scanner and received a "P008A low fuel pressure" reading (I had almost a full tank of gas). So it is a fuel pump related issue. Apperantly this is a very popular issue/defect, and Alfa Romeo is well aware of it as they even published a service bulletin for this specific error. Please see the attached PDF file for the service bulletin. Basically, the fuel pump module should be replaced. I am taking my car to an Alfa Romeo dealership for further investigation. I believed that Alfa Romeo should recall and inspect the conditions of the fuel pumps because it is very dangerous when your engine cut off while driving on a busy interstate. I also have another passenger with me while the incident happens and some other video and photo evidence. I can provide more evidence when my dealer finishes inspecting the car.
On July 10 I was driving my car and then suddenly all the brakes came on. There were no objects in front of the car or behind the cars it was early morning at 7 o'clock on my way to the hospital for work. There was no warning that there was an object in front of me or anything. Two days later around the same time in the morning the car could start but the electronic brake system was ON. you can't turn them off. it gave a temporary message about electronic brake system issue. you can start the car and turn it off but the car won't move the even when you put the gear on as if all electronic brake system are engaged and can't turn them off by pushing the electronic parking knob off. after turning the car on and off multiple times, this electronic brakes must have been disengaged. Three days later the car was diagnosed with brake caliper failure in one tire which was repaired. I'm a physician and by no means a car technician but I think these are two completely unrelated issues. I feel that a bad brake caliper in one tire should not cause all four tires and all four brakes to stop the car suddenly on the road or prevent the car from moving when Idol or lock the electronic brake system. I communicated this clearly with Alfa Romeo main office as well as with my local dealership. This has been almost 2-3 weeks ago since ofI communicated with the Alfa Romeo people. I clearly told him that this is a big safety issue and we can't allow cars to stop by themselves in the middle of the ro
Hello, I was driving in the highway at highway speed and my engine shutdown with any sort of warning. I almost caused a huge accident. After I took it to the Alfa Romeo dealer, I had to replace the fuel pump according to the dealer, which is a common problem. I think Alfa Romeo should do a recall on the fuel pump. I also, scratched my car due to this incident avoiding a bigger accident. This car needs to be recalled for fuel pump repairs for all the car with the old bad fuel pump design. Thank you
The contact owns a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side headlight had failed to function as needed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that water or condensation had gotten into the headlight assembly and that the headlight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
When driving vehicle it randomly goes into Limp mode and gives an “electronic throttle module error”. This in turns decreases the power of the vehicle significantly and causes you to move over lanes as to not cause traffic. This issue is common for a lot of Alfa Romeo Guilia owners.
Engine recently began making a loud ticking sound, that everyone who heard it asked, "What's wrong with your car?" I purchased the vehicle new 5.5 years ago and it presently has 38,475 miles on it. The dealer determined the noise was due to a loose oil pump bolt under the timing cover. It was a 10.5 hour repair to remove a bolt and reapply lock-tite to it and then reinstall. Had the repair not been performed the bolt could have vibrated all the way out and caused internal damage to the engine, which I believe is a safety issue. The repair cost was $1,813.68. Per the dealer this was the first Giulia model that they had to service for this issue, but they had serviced several Stelvio models that were newer but shared the same engine. In today's automotive market such repairs should not be necessary on a vehicle with low mileage. The brand offers a 4 year / 50,000 mile warranty, but not a separate powertrain warranty. In hindsight, it appears the brand does not have a great deal of confidence in the durability of the powertrains it builds.
On August 18, 2022, I was driving the vehicle at a speed of approximately 45 mph when the vehicle motor suddenly and without any prior warning completely shut down. Several warning lights appeared immediately but none prior to the shutdown. I was driving in moderately heavy traffic and had to coast to a spot off the shoulder of the road. This was a dangerous situation and if I had been in heavier higher speed traffic, this would have been a very risky safety situation since I had no power whatsoever to control the vehicle movement. The vehicle would not restart and had to be towed to a repair shop. The problem was with the Fuel Pump Control Module which had to be replaced along with replacing the fuel pump. The manufacturer had previously issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) concerning this but had not issued a recall. I was unaware of the TSB. The manufacturer was obviously aware of issues with the Fuel Pump Control Module but did not issue a recall for vehicles. The TSB was for cars produced prior to August of 2017 and my car was produced in May of 2017.
It is impossible to adjust the headlights so as not to blind oncoming drivers. Some are forced to pull over. This is an ongoing issue, which the dealer says is due to faulty design and cannot be fixed.
* The engine parts melted, yes; its available for inspection at the dealership. * I could have crashed into others from the heavy smoke that blinded my sight, my family and i could have burned up or gotten blown up. * UNKNOWN * NO * NO
Car was being driven on a highway going around a turn and message for “ATV Service” appeared. Shortly after power to the steering wheel and lost jerked the car and came back. All electric lighting flickered and several other messages for service engine and transmission appeared.
My vehicle parking brake came on suddenly and will not go off. I have seen thousands of complaints online about corrosion to the wiring in the electronic brake system and am wondering why a recall has not been issued as this is a serious safety concern. My vehicle is now inoperable because I cannot get the parking brake off and am afraid that it will happen again while driving.
Car started itself. Vehicle was sitting in garage and was Locked. The radiator fans came on and vehicle started on its own. it continued to run until we unlocked and hit the stop button. Since this has happened it does not turnover on the first attempt. It has set several codes, Start stop unavailable, service electronic throttle, service engine now. My concern is if the vehicle were to start in the garage while we were asleep and carbon monoxide would leak into the house.
The battery will not hold a charge significant enough for the rear window defrost to work, and stop/start to work. Have replaced the battery twice and the dealer's answer is that I don't drive enough to get the battery charged enough as battery health is only 30%. I drive 20 miles a day, every day, somedays 100 miles. Others have this same issue in their Forum. Another solution is to constantly put a charger on the battery. The rear window ices over and is a safety issue.
While driving on highway at approximately 65mph, the panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded causing shards of glass to be propelled through the cabin of the vehicle. All windows including the sunroof had been completely closed. My air conditioner was running, there were no vehicles directly in front of me or near me actually. There was no debris that struck the car nor where there any over pass streets or overhead structures in the vicinity. I was driving and a sudden (very loud) gunshot type bang, startled me followed by the whistling sound of wind and falling glass prompted me to pull over immediately. Fortunately my kids were not on the vehicle or they would’ve been struck by the falling shards of glass as there is plenty in the backseat area. The incident happened today, Sunday December 12, so as of now the vehicle has not been inspected by dealer or police or anyone. There was no previous warning of failure or malfunctions.
The brake by wire system failed, and another component caused the vehicle to accelerate when I hit the brake pedal. I didn't have any proof on the last complaint, but I have it now. This brake failure caused me to rear end someone, which caused a multiple vehicle accident. The dealership I took it to was aware that I was having electrical issues with the car, but they said they couldn't do anything about it because they couldn't find any fault codes. I even sent them a video of it as well. I also believe this car was involved in a prior accident as well by one of the previous owners and fixed by one of them under the table, because the front bumper shock absorber plate broke in half, and had writing on it as well that looked like something a repair shop would do. This car is unsafe.
The driver's side headlight vertical adjuster failed causing the headlight beam to be directed upwards at about a 40 degree angle. I understand from searching the internet, that this is an ongoing problem. I have a new assembly on order and when received I will have it installed. At that time the old, broken assembly will be available for inspection. This causes the light to not be directed to the roadway, causing dark spots and probably hits oncoming drivers in the eyes, blinding them. The dealer is clueless but the internet says that in Europe a circlip installation fix has been devised. The vehicle has not been investigated by the dealer. I am waiting to receive the new assembly before allowing them to work on it. There were no warnings of any kind. This car has automatic headlights so I never noticed it until I came home one night and lit up the trees as I came down the street and lit up my roof as I pulled in the driveway. From research I have discovered the mechanism is a ball and socket arrangement and the ball has a tendency to pop out of the socket due to vibration. This releases the bottom of the adjuster and allows the headlight to swing into full up position.
I was travelling along the road when 3 cars suddenly hit the brakes really hard. I was able to hit my brakes fast, but I did not feel any pressure on the pedal and I was unable to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I also had a problem with the start system. I was randomly unable to start the car (about 3 times.) I would have to wait 10 minutes or longer for the car to be able to start again. I also noticed that the front bumper frame of my car was split in half (as if I had hit a post or something big.) I also noticed that there was writting on the front bumper frame (no foam padding in between,) and the following written on the front (DNR. 01/09/2017 and a time 10:20.) I don't know what's going on with my vehicle. It's frustrating and I've had to take it to the dealership a few time 3 hours away.
My Alfa Romeo only has 29,000 miles on it. It randomly dies on you and does not start. Might happen while you drive with the start/stop and also when you try to turn on the car. When speaking to an Alfa Romeo representative, they inform you that to fix it’s about $600 or higher and they are also aware that is a common problems with their cars. The representative informed me that to turn it back on, I have to disconnect the a wire on top of the battery. I’m not a mechanic and should not have to work with the electrical system of the car. After reconnecting that wire, there’s the electric stability control light that turns on and the steering wheel assist light turns on. It’s crazy that this is a know issue with these cars and the dealers try everything they can to charge you for that repair. Which makes the car completely unsafe.
While waiting for a traffic light to change, the vehicle turned off but immediately turned back on. About four miles later, the same situation happened again but this time it took me a few minutes to get it to start. The vehicle had 1/4 fuel on the tank. After refueling, it drove fine. It was fine again on my way home from work, at least most of the way. When I was near home, it started to shut off and back on at a few traffic lights, but was able to drive it home.
The contact owns a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut off. During the failure, the check engine and auto stop/start warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that an unknown relay needed to be replaced. No further information was available. The contact indicated that the vehicle had been serviced for the failure on multiple occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.
THE CAR STOP BY ITSELF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND I JUST COULD MAKE IT TO PULL IT OVER AND LIGHTS APPEAR ON THE CAR DASHBOARD THE CHECK ENGINE, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AND OTHER LIGHT THAT I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT IT WAS AN "A!" . I TURN OFF THE CAR AND I WAITED FOR 10 MIN AN I TURN IT ON AGAIN AND IT WORKS BUT THE LIGHTS STILL WERE THERE, SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SHIP BECAUSE I HAVE ONLY 4 MONTH WITH THE CAR AND IT IS AN USED CAR, BUT IT HAS ONLY 19000 MILES TO HAVE THAT KIND OF PROBLEMS. AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DONT HAVE SPACE TO CHECK THE CAR PROBABLY UNTIL OCTOBER THAT THEY WILL CALL ME, BUT WHEN WE WENT BACK TO HOME THE CAR DID THE SAME IT START TO DROP THE SPEED BY ITSELF AND STOP , AND I JUST PARKED IN MY HOUSE AND I HAVE NOT MOVE IT, THE CAR HAS OTHER PROBLEMS TO CHECK, THE HOOK CONNECTIONS AND THE TIRES, BUT THE THING IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAY THEY HAVE TOO MANY CARS IN FRONT OF MINE AND THEY WILL CHECK IT PROBABLY UNTIL OCTOBER 2020. I REALLY THINK THOSE VEHICLES ALFA ROMEO GUILIA SHOULD BE CHECKED FROM THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BECAUSE LIFE OF PEOPLE IS IN RISK WHEN THEY JUST STOP IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND GOES INTO LIMP MODE. NO POWER STEERING, NO BRAKES, NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY HAZARDOUS AND A SAFETY ISSUE. NO WAY TO START THE CAR. NO WAY TO MOVE THE CAR UNLESS OWNER GOES UNDER THE CAR WITH A SPECIFIC TOOL AND UNLOCKS THE BREAKS MANUALLY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED TO BE. I BELONG TO A GROUP OF CAR ENTHUSIASTS WHICH OWN THE SAME MODEL AND SEVERAL HAVE REPORTED TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.

MY CAR ACTS FUNNY WHEN USING CRUISE CONTROL. DOESN'T KEEP THE SPEED I SET IT UP AT. ANOTHER THING THAT I'VE NOTICE IS WHEN TURNING THE STERRING WHEEL THE CAR FEELS FUNNY TOO. IT SOUND LIKE MY TIRE HITS SOMETHING.
WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY STUCK IN TRAFFIC, IT WAS A STOP AND GO AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS. WHEN RESUMING THE ACCELERATION (WHILE IN NORMAL FROM THE DNA ). I SLOWLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, WHEN I PRESSED THE BREAKS THE FEELING ON THE PEDAL WAS ABNORMAL AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP CAUSING ME TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. IT FELT AS IF THE BREAKS DID NOT FULLY ENGAGE, THE CAR JUST KEPT GOING WHILE ONLY PRESSING THE BREAKS WHICH I REPEAT AGAIN FELT AS IF THEY DID NOT FULLY ENGAGE. ALL THIS HAPPENED WHILE GOING AT A VERY LOW SPEED NO MORE THAN 20MPH. NO ONE WAS HURT AS ALL THIS HAPPENED AT A VERY SLOW SPEED. HOWEVER IT SCARES ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOW. NOT TOO LONG AGO I HAD IT IN THE SERVICE WHERE THEY PERFORMED A FAULT WITH THE SOUND SYSTEM AND A MISALIGNED HOOD. I HAVE ALSO FELT THE BREAKS ACTING FUNNY WHILE COMING TO A STOP LIGHT PER SAY, IT TAKES A WHILE FOR THE CAR TO FULLY STOP WHETHER A SOFT PRESS ON THE PEDAL OR A HARD ONE. THERE SEEMS TO BE A "DEAD POINT" WHEN STEPPING ON THE BREAK PEDAL AS WELL. WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE THE CRUSHED GIULIA TO THE NEAREST SHOP. THE CAR MOVES TO NEUTRAL GEAR WHILE IN MOTION. IT HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND MORE OFTEN WHILE MAKING TURNS AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS. THUS PUTTING THE DRIVER IN EXTREME HARMS WAY. THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE INSTANTLY MOVED TO DRIVE MODE TO ACCELERATE OUT OF THE RISKY IMPACT SITUATION. THE PROBLEM WAS DEMONSTRATED TO AND REPLICATED BY THE DEALERSHIP. SOFTWARE UPDATES, SHIFTER CHANGE AND A NEW TRANSMISSION HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE. THE CAR REMAINS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND UNDER DISPUTE AS A POSSIBLE LEMON. THE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED OVER A DOZEN TIMES AND WE HAVE ONLY NOTED THE LAST DATE. THIS HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR FEW MONTHS.
THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE INTERFERES WITHOUT WARNING WITH THE DRIVER'S ATTEMPT TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF, AND CAN MAKE THE DRIVER BELIEVE THE CAR IS OFF WHEN IT IS NOT. THIS CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RESTART AND MOVE FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN THE DRIVER BEGINS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. EXPERIENCE: I ENTERED THE DRIVEWAY AND CAME TO A STOP. I PUSHED THE IGNITION STOP BUTTON AND THE CAR APPEARED TO TURN OFF AS EXPECTED. IN FACT, THE AUTO START/STOP SYSTEM HAD STOPPED THE ENGINE TEMPORARILY AT ALMOST THE EXACT SAME MOMENT I PRESSED THE STOP BUTTON. BELIEVING THE IGNITION TO BE OFF I BEGAN TO EXIT THE CAR NORMALLY BUT AS SOON AS I MOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY, ALMOST HITTING THE PARKED CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE AUTO START/STOP SYSTEM TAKES VARIOUS FACTORS INTO ACCOUNT WHEN DECIDING WHEN TO PAUSE THE ENGINE, BUT IT FREQUENTLY TURNS THE ENGINE OFF WITHIN ONE TO THREE SECONDS AFTER A STOP -- THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME A TYPICAL DRIVER WILL BE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF WITH NO OBVIOUS VISUAL OR AUDITORY CLUES AS TO WHAT HAS TURNED OFF THE ENGINE (THE DRIVER OR THE AUTO START/STOP SYSTEM) THE DRIVER CAN BE UNAWARE THAT THE CAR WILL RESTART AND MOVE FORWARD WHEN HE TAKES HIS FOOT FROM THE BRAKE. THIS CAN BE HAZARDOUS TO THE DRIVER OR PASSENGERS WHO MAY BE EXITING THE CAR, AND TO PEDESTRIANS IN FRONT OF THE CAR. FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE: TWO OR THREE TIMES WEEKLY. *TT
THIS IS A 3RD INCIDENT OF THE SAME MISHAP. ON 3 OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS , MAYBE 5 TO 10 MPH , I HAVE APPLIED THE BRAKES , THE BRAKES HAVE LOCKED IN PLACE AND THE ENGINE HAS SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE FIRST TIME I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND AFTER A WHILE THE ACCELERATION ENDED. I WAS VERY SCARE AND TOOK CAR TO DEALER. THEY CHECKED IT AND REPROGRAMED THE CARS COMPUTER, BUT FOUND NOTHING AFOUL OR ABNORMAL. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED , I PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. WENT BACK TO DEALER AND THEY DID THE SAME THING AS THE FIRST TIME : TESTED THE CAR , FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND REPROGRAMED THE CAR'S COMPUTER. THEY ALSO SAID THEY HAD NO NOTICES FROM ALFA'S PRINCIPAL OFFICE IN THE USA RELATED TO MY COMPLAINTS. ON APRIL 18 THE 3RD INCIDENT OCCURRED. THIS ONE WAS A BIT MORE SCARY SINCE I ALMOST IMPACTED A PARKED CAR. I WAS LEAVING OFFICE AT ABOUT 5 TO 7 MPH , I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THEY ONCE AGAIN LOCKED IN PLACE AND THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON HIS OWN. THIS TIME THE ACCELERATION LASTED LONGER AT HIGHER RPM. ONLY A FAST REACTION TO PLACE CAR IN PARK AND IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE CAR OFF AVOIDED AN COLLISION WITH A PARKED CAR. I WAS AGAIN VERY SCARED SINCE IAM AFRAID THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN PUTTING LIFE AND PROPERTY IN JEOPARDY. IAM SCHEDULED TO TAKE CAR BACK TO DEALER NEXT WEEK. I CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT BUT WITH GREAT CAUTION AND SCARE TO DEATH. YOUR AGENCY NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION TO AVOID BODILY HARM OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. ALL 3 INCIDENTS THE
WHEN I WENT TO INSURE THIS CAR, MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOLD ME THAT MY VIN INDICATED THAT THIS CAR IS AWD. IT IS NOT AWD, IT'S REAR-DRIVE ONLY. CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE TO YOUR VIN REGISTRY TO REFLECT THIS REALITY, I DON'T KNOW IF IT AFFECTS OTHER ALFA ROMEO VEHICLES OR NOT. THANKS.
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVING, THE INTERIOR CABIN EXPERIENCES AN ENGINE SMELL COMING FROM THE AC VENTS WHEN IT IS RUNNING BECAUSE ACCORDING TO ONE OF THEIR TECHNICIANS THE ENGINE AREA IS NOT SEALED COMPLETELY. THE SMELL FROM THE ENGINE AREA AT TIMES THEN COMES THRU THE AIR VENTS INTO THE CABIN AREA, AND THE SMELL MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE WITHOUT HAVING THE WINDOWS OPENED. IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO BREATHE. I'M AFRAID THAT I'M BREATHING IN ENGINE SMELLS THAT COULD BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. ALFA DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM AS OF YET. THEY HAVE ALREADY ATTEMPTED TO CREATE A FIX, BUT IT WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO SEAL THE SMELL COMPLETELY, IT ONLY MINIMIZED THE SMELL AT BEST. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO 2 DEALERSHIPS NOW, AND BOTH HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ALL I'M TOLD IS ALFA ROMEO DOESN'T HAVE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM YET. THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED SINCE DAY 1 OF BUYING THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME WITH DOZENS OF ACTIVE RECALLS THAT HAD TO BE FIXED AFTER THE DAY OF PURCHASE. I'M NOT SURE IF THATS LEGAL, BUT IT'S JUST MORE THE NONSENSE I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH WHEN DEALING WITH THIS CAR MANUFACTURER. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS IN NYC AREA DO NOT EVEN KEEP A LOANER, NONE OF THEM! I HAVE TO TRAVEL TO CT DEALERSHIPS TO ASSURE I HAVE A LOANER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA QUADRIFOGLIO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ENTERED "LIMP HOME" MODE. THE BRAKE, STEERING, CHECK ENGINE, STABILITRAK, AND VARIOUS OTHER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. TOWBIN FIAT ALFA ROMEO (2550 S JONES BLVD, LAS VEGAS, NV) COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY ELEVEN TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STARTED A BUYBACK PROCESS; HOWEVER, THEY RESCINDED THE OFFER AFTER THE CONTACT REFUSED TO PUT AN EDR EVEN AFTER EXPRESSING CONCERNS OF OPERATING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,200.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES PER HOUR MY SUN ROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD RAINING SHARDS OF GLASS BOTH OUTWARD AND DOWN TOWARD THE PASSENGERS.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
