Defect. Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain 2015-2018 XC155 scooters. The cylinder head nuts may not have been tightened properly and could loosen, allowing coolant to foul the spark plug.

Risk. A fouled spark plug could cause the engine to stall at idle and possibly not restart, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Yamaha will notify owners and dealers will replace the cylinder head gasket and tighten the cylinder head nuts, free of charge. The recall began May 29, 2020. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha's number for this recall is 990137.

Defect. Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain model year 2015 XC155F SMAX scooters manufactured September 17, 2014, to October 27, 2015. The affected motorcycles may have an insufficiently clamped speed sensor lead wire, causing the wire to fatigue and break.

Risk. If the speed sensor wire breaks, the speedometer will not work, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will replace the speed sensor assembly, free of charge. The recall began on January 27, 2017. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha's number for this recall is 990111.

A AM WRITING TO COMPLAIN THAT YAMAHA HAS NOT DONE ITS BEST TO REMEDY A RECALL IN REASONABLE TIME. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN MAY. THE RECALL STATED THE SCOOTER SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. IT IS NOW THE END OF JULY, PEAK RIDING SEASON, AND THE PARTS REQUIRED ARE STILL NOT AVAIALBLE. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER IS 20V227.
