Defect. THE FUEL PUMP MOUNTING PLATE DOES NOT FULLY SEAL THE FUEL TANK ALLOWING FUEL LEAKAGE ONTO THE ENGINE.

Risk. IF AN IGNITION SOURCE IS PRESENT, FUEL LEAKAGE ONTO THE ENGINE CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ORIGINAL RUBBER SEAL WITH A REVISED SEAL THAT HAS METAL INSERTS SO THE PLATE CANNOT BE OVERTORQUED AND TO MORE EVENLY SPREAD THE LOAD ACROSS THE FACE OF THE SEAL.
