THE TRANSMISSION IS TOO EASY TO SHIFT FROM 5TH INTO 2ND AND I ALMOST BLEW THE ENGINE. THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN BY TOYOTA BUT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AS FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL, EVERY 2000 CELICA HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CRUISE CONTROL SLOWS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING UP TO 20MPH. WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS ACTIVATED TO INDICATE DECELERATION OF THE CAR AN ACCIDENT COULD EASILY HAPPEN. *AK

Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
