Dashboard is sticky when cold and hot, we have done our best to keep it clean but i have had enough it was hot and my kid leaned on it and it was super hot and the material literally got stuck to her arm and the back of her shirt. I would like this to get taken care off, is not right that they were created this way and people suffer the consequences

My Black 2009 Camry SE has a black sticky/melting dash which Toyota only covered replacement of for a 10 yr period. I didn’t drive it much for the first several years, the odometer now has only 90,000 miles. The sticky dash became an increasingly noticeable safety hazard a couple of years ago. When driving with the sun hitting the sticky, melting, shiny black dash, the glare is blinding to where I cannot see the road. The sun causes the dash to be reflected off the windshield. Yes, the safety of anyone in the car is at risk when the sun is coming through the windshield. It is available for inspection any time. The Rick Hendrick Toyota dealer I used for my cracked dash 4 Runner informed me that if I had been having the Camry regularly serviced at a Toyota dealer then Toyota would have likely covered the dash replacement after the recall period ended. I brought the Camry into Stone Mountain Toyota to replace the recalled brake lamp assembly in Nov 2021. They failed to replace it adequately and so a mile from the dealership the Camry would not move after I stopped at a stoplight. So, no, I have not had either of these Toyota dealers, or any others confirm the issue, since they weren’t going to replace it under warranty anyway. Neither dealer asked to confirm the issue. My wife has confirmed the sticky dash safety glare issue. No warning messages light up when the dash is a safety hazard. Toyota Corp refused to warranty/recall replacement in 2020/2021 even though I explained this

I currently a 2009 toyota camry I was financed a year ago not even a year ago. from TKP autos in eastlake, ohio. this car consumes too much oil, so I use marvel mystery oil so every 2300-3k miles I have to change the oil.. also my key fob stopped working, i changed the batteries and they still dont work also the o2 sensors went as well and replaced them twice and they still keep stop working also i found a lot of information on consumer reports that the years 2007-2009 toyota camrys are highly unreliable cars to own or lease. ive seen a lot of complaints and other owners who had the engine sieze on them as well.. these cars are a lemon and not safe to drive also my dash board is very sticky as well from the sun and it turns out that is a melting affect that is dangerous as well also i see the accelerator pedal can give away and that is dangerous as well there should be recalls for the oil consumption and everything else.

The vehicle dashboard is tacky and has been for some time. The reflection from the sun emitting off the dashboard impairs visibility while driving. Even wearing sunglasses does not fully deflect the sun glare from the dashboard making it difficult to see cars in front of me or traffic signals. I believe this issue because the dashboard is so hot, it affected my CD player which is no longer working, a cd is stuck in the player and the button to eject does not respond. Yes my vehicle can be inspected upon request. A few years ago, I inquired with a licensed mechanic what the issue was and he stated there was nothing I could do to remedy the situation. I contacted Toyota when I first realized the issue, they stated that there was a recall on the dashboard and the time had past to get it replaced. I informed them that I did not receive a recall notification and they could not tell me why. I am very frustrated that Toyota will not take responsibility for replacing my dashboard.

I own a 2009 Toyota Camry the brake light abs light speedometer engine temp and rpm gauge all stop working or go crazy at random times, as well as my air conditioner when this happens. I have done some research and this is a reaccuring problem in many of the 2007-2009 Toyota models. I have also read that many have had oil consumption problems with this year also. I literally have to put atleast a quart in my motor every week or other week. No need for.an oil change when I’m consuming the new clean oil I’m putting in regularly. As far as the brake lights I replaced the entire brake module assembly with another one I got at junk yard. Problem was only fixed for 2 days and I’m back to square one. Their should be a recall on the brake system if this is a reaccurring issue with these cars.

The BRAKE & ABS lights started coming on although there was no apparent problem. Then, when those lights illuminate on the instrument panel, the speedometer & tachometer stop working. Often, the needles will bounce or they will just set at zero. This can occur at any speed & on all road conditions. This does not affect cruise control in anyway. I can set & stop the cruise control at any time. Eventually, it starts working again but it is totally random. Now, the Air Conditioning stops working when the ABS & BRAKE lights are on. The High Beam instrument panel lights are also affected. The headlights work but the instrument panel does not always reflect this or it shows that High Beams are on when they are not & vice versa. My mechanic could not identify the source of the problem. My research shows that the ABS Module is defective & the problem occurs in 2007-2009 Camrys. Apparently, this problem can be bypassed by disengaging the ABS Module, but obviously, that creates other issues. I have video of this activity but I am unable to upload it here.

At about 60,000 miles, the turn signal popped out making it unsafe to drive. I had the turn signal replaced, then at about 66,000 miles, the horn quit working and the Airbag light came on. This was not only a safety issue but caused the vehicle to fail state inspection. I contacted Toyota to reimburse me for the expense incurred for replacing the Spiral Cable but they refused based on the reason that the 36000 miles warranty had expired. In my opinion, the issue I faced was due to a faulty Spiral Cable and the 36000 miles warranty clause should not apply. There are other Toyota owners who have reported the same issue to NHTSA. 2009 Toyota Corolla was recalled for the same defect but Camry was not. Based on the complaints I have seen, Camry should have been recalled too.

Excessive oil consumption, I was not sent a recall notice on excessive oil consumption of my 2009 Toyota Camry that I purchased on 9/30/2009. Excessive oil consumption relates to the manufacturer defect of the 2009 and other model cars. The pistons and motor did not fit correctly which is causing excessive oil consumption along with other problems that relate to it. I bought my car in 2009, the problem was discovered between 2008-2015. I was not sent a recall notice so I could have brought my car in to fix it. The problem does not show up until the warranty expires or 60,000 later. I was not sent a recall because my car was new and it would be years before the problem starts to happen. I should have been notified regardless. I take good care of my car's maintenance. When I found out about the recall about 2 years ago from google the internet and I saw the class action lawsuits that was field. I still was not notified about the recalls. Now the problem is happening. Please help me I can not afford another car. Everyone should have been notified about the recall.

Bob Tyler Toyota sold me a 2009 Toyota Camry when they knew that the 2009 Camrys had an oil consumption problem. I learned of a class action lawsuit that was filed against Toyota regarding this problem. Toyota announced a program to extend warranty coverage to address customer complaints of Excessive Engine Oil Consumption on certain 2007-2009 Camrys. Toyota was supposed to replace parts on the affected Toyota Camrys for vehicles exhibiting excessive engine oil consumption. Eligibility for part replacement under this warranty enhancement Program is dependent on a Toyota dealer engine oil consumption test in accordance with T-SB-0158-14(Toyota) and S-SB-0031-14(Scion). I took my Toyota Camry to Bob Tyler for routine maintenance/oil changes and other maintenance. I noticed that my Toyota was burning a quart of oil every few hundred miles. I took my Camry to Bob Tyler Toyota and they did the oil consumption test and stated that my car narrowly passed so it did not qualify to be fixed. Since my Camry has gotten worse. My Camry only has 108,000 miles on it which is less than the cutoff mileage that Toyota has set for oil consumption problems. I took my Toyota back to Bob Tyler this year and was advised that my Camry is over the age limit for the Oil Consumption problem. I met with Bob Tyler and advised him of the problem that I was having with my 2009 Toyota Camry. I advised that my Camry has been burning oil and that the maintenance department never brought it to my attention bef

I am the original owner of a 2009 Toyota Camry. The dashboard which started melting in 2020 has caused a shiny film on the dashboard resulting in a shiny glare on my windshield when the sunlight hits the dashboard. This glare completely covers a portion of the windshield which prevents me from viewing the roadway ahead of me. Toyota has entered settlements ( extending its' warranty to Mid 2017 )several lawsuits, but does live up to its' agreement. Toyota has breached settlement agreement by not providing the Toyota Dealers with dashboard replacements in timely manner. Since my dashboard did not start deteriorating until 2020 I have been informed by Toyota that since the warranty time period has expired, that they will not pay for the cost to replace the dashboard. deterioration was a latent defect. Time for NHTSA to get involved: Investigate and then issue a National recall of the dashboards. Email: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Toyota has made empty promises to those who filed prior to Mid 2017 and refuses to even make promises to those who file after that date. Whittier Toyota will be inspecting the vehicle Monday July 19 2021 and will issue me a report of the deteriorating dashboard and cost to replace it. I was diving my car on a 200 mile trip and I noticed that the driver side Sun Visor fell down and wouldn't stay up even when it was in its stowed position. During the day it progressive got worst. I now have to physically hold it in place so I can see while driving. I first thought my kid broke it, but that wasn't the case. Since I'm an engineer, I usually repair my car on my own. So I went looking on the internet for a replacement part and that is when I stumbled on the recall. My failure seemed to follow the same failure mode called out in the recall. However, my Visor didn't fail during the recall window. However, in my engineering opinion, this is a part the will fail at some point in the cars life and the manufacture should have done a recall and replace on every car manufactured during the years that used the same parts. Toyota no longer recognizes this as a problem. The more that the visor is used the more likely this failure will occur. Bottom line, it is a safety hazard that had a band aide approach to repairing it and should be revisited since more then likely it will occur on any vehicle that didn't experience the failure during the recall window.

While driving into the sun, the sun reflects off the dash causing you to not be able to see out the windshield. The dash has a tacky feel to it and is extremely shiny and any light that comes in trough the windshield reflect back at the windshield causing you to not be able to see what is in front of you. No warning of this issue with the vehicle. I have tried cleaning the dash with special cleaners to remove the shimmer however no resolution. The only resolution I have heard of is to have the dash completely replaced with the aftermarket dash that is made out of a different component.

VEHICLE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AMD CRACKING. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE MELTING BECAUSE THE DASHBOARD IS NOW EXTREMELY SHINY AMD THE REFLECTION MAKES VISIBILITY LIMITED, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SUN IS DIRECTLY HITTING IT. I ALSO FEAR THAT THE CRACKS HAVE POSSIBLY DAMAGED THE AIRBAG ITSELF, MEANING IF IT WERE TO EVER DEPLOY WILL IT DEPLOY CORRECTLY. THIS STARTED YEARS AGO, AND AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND WHERE A RECALL WAS ISSUED. HOWEVER TOYOTA NEVER NOTIFIED ME, THEY MAIL THE CORRESPONDING INFORMATION TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER. THIS WAS VERIFIED WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA DIRECTLY. THEY WOULDN'T TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE MISTAKE OR THE SAFETY ISSUE AND ADVISED ME THEY WON'T FIX IT BECAUSE THE RECALL IS EXPIRED. I'M CONFUSED HOW A SAFETY RECALL CAN EXPIRE WHEN REAL DRIVERS, LIKE MYSELF, ARE STILL HAVING THESE ISSUES BECAUSE MANY OF THESE CARS ARE STILL ON THE ROAD. MY CAR IS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY SE WITH ONLY 120K MILES. STILL ALOT OF LIFE LEFT, SO THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AMD FIX THESE SAFETY ISSUES FOR CONSUMERS.
