ABS Brake Actuator failed, this malfunction came out of nowhere, making me unable to stop my car and putting my life at risk. I have not seen any official recall on this from Toyota, but I’ve seen many people have this same specific issues on Toyota forums. The ABS, brake, and slip light came on all at once while my car made a continuous beeping sound. This all happened as my brakes went out.

The dashboard on the car has melted and caused reflection on the windshield impacting the visibility. I was unable to see the road due to the reflection caused by the melting and sticky dashboard on the windshield. My safety is at risk while driving due to the reflection and glare on the windshield. The smell from melting dashboard is also a concern for myself and family including the infant. The car is available for inspection and the concern can be reproduced.
ABS Module failure. This system keeps crashing despite having replaced the issue before. Please force Toyota to do a recall
Had the vehicle progressively speed up at a high rate of speed was not due to the floor mats as that had been fixed along time ago on a recall before . I had to throw the car in neutral and then push the brake and power button for the vehicle to slow down safely ( happened twice ) . Both times not back to back on occasions months in between . Then one day had issues with the brakes and the vehicle not wanting to stop had the issue looked at by certified mechanic said my physical brakes on all sides front and back were visible sound and nothing to be causing the issue I was having . Just the other day started the vehicle as normal it warmed up went thru my day and then my radio still visible but sayin INSERT MAPS DVD ( that’s the only thing it would say or do ) then the vehicle after turning it off says CHECK VSC SYSTEM ( had certified mechanic ) come to home to inspect vehicle for issues ( car no longer showed this on dash) started as normal then next day while driving no brakes red triangle of death came up said CHECK VSC again and brakes failed and I nearly rear ended someone thank god avoided the accident car then shut off ( car restarted then triangle once more immediately shut off ) car starts high idle brakes hard to push on Mechanic says it’s a faulty issue with harness or abs pump and ECM components which may be causing the battery failure I’ve had multiple times and that the vehicle isn’t safe to drive due to this issue .
The dash is very sticky and is putting a glare when driving toward the sun it is so bad you can’t see pedestrians walking on the road.
In June 9, 2016 (NHTSA ID Number: 10111320) Toyota did a Warranty Enhancement Program to extend the warranty coverage for repairs related to cracked and/or sticky/melting Dashboards (Instrument Panels) as a result of heat or humidity. My 2009 Toyota Camry was taken to a Toyota dealership in September of 2016 and the malfunctioning dashboard was replaced. However, the dashboard is still melting. It was replaced with the same defective material.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: Cross Climate 2, Tire Size: 215/60/R16, DOT Number: 1AP4909CX2022. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH, he switched lanes to avoid crashing into another vehicle in front that had stopped abruptly. The contact nearly lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle inadvertently swerved, and the contact felt as if the vehicle was going to flip over. Upon inspection, the contact related the failure to the design of the tires. The contact stated that the tires had no ribs, borders, or lateral grooves; the tires only had a V-shaped design along the tread. The tire store was made aware of the failure; however, the tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The tire failure mileage was approximately 25. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 224,000.
I bought my 2007 Toyota Camry in May 2020 with approx. 77,000 mi. On or about 98,775 mi. all of a sudden my car started burning an extremely amount of oil. I would get my oil changed every 6 mo. like clockwork and after oil change just driving between every 900 & 1,200 mi. I am having to add nearly a full quart of oil, thank God I am the type person that checks my fluids periodically or I would have blown my engine! What is the point in me paying nearly $100. an oil change if I have to continuously be buying quarts of oil to be putting in my car every 1,000. miles? Someone told me that 2007 Camrys burn oil due to some kind of issue and that there was a recall around 2015, that all I need to do is take my car to dealership and that they mark something with a red marker or something to this effect and after driving 1,000. mi. that I take the car back to dealership & they check it again, if my car burns slot of o than they suppose to fix the problem! Well, I am tired of paying extreme amounts of money every 6 mo. for oil change and still have to be spending more money for more oil to have to be checking & adding more oil or I will eventually blow my entire engine if I don't! I took my vehicle to Toyota , & they said that the recall has been over yrs. ago? Well, I would imagine that this would be a life or death matter and therefore this particular recall HAS "NO" Expiration DATE! I need this issue resolved ASAP, I do not have over $2,000. to pay out of pocket Please, someone con
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving, the front low-beam headlights were very dim while activated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed her that it was a common failure due to the material used to design the headlight housings. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The contact stated that the dealer technician would have to remove the entire bumper in order to sand and clean the interior of the headlights.
My car burns oil excessively causing an increased risk for the engine to overheat and stall. This defect increases the risk of a crash and could lead to a fire. With research and by contacting a local Toyota dealership, I learned that this is a known defect of the 2AZFE engine. Specifically, the piston rings and the pistons are defective and known to cause excessive motor oil burning. Although Toyota has offered an extended warranty for this issue, I was informed by the local dealership that the extended warranty is no longer valid for my car because too much time has elapsed. I was never contacted to inform me of these defective engine components or that my car was given an extended warranty. The Toyota dealership states that they will only confirm this defect if we pay their mechanics for the inspection. Excessive oil consumption has been verified by our non-dealership mechanic. My car is available for further inspection.
The dashboard is melting and shiny causing it to look wet and create a dangerous glare on the windshield. When I look through the windshield I see a reflection of the dashboard. This is apparently a known problem for Toyota and I called to report it but they were unconcerned and will not repair.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the oil level warning light illuminated. The contact checked the oil level and became aware that the vehicle had no oil in the engine. The contact added oil and took the vehicle to the dealer. The contact was informed that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil and that TSB-0030-15 had expired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the service bulletin TSB-0030-15 had already expired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The 2007 Toyota Camry has a manufacturing defect related to sticky/melting dashboards as a result of heat or humidity. Toyota sent me a warranty notice for an extension for 10 years from the date of first use of the vehicle, which they determined was the date that I purchased the vehicle on July 31, 2007. In 2013, I took the vehicle to a Toyota dealer, however, they refused to replace the dashboard because, in their opinion, it was not sufficiently compromised. However, now, years later, the dashboard has become very sticky and reflective. It produces a glare into the windshield, impairing vision, which is now a safety issue due to the manufacturer defect. This defect could cause serious injury and death. On August 5, 2022, I appealed to Toyota customer service for them to replace the dashboard. I emphasized the safety issue. However, a Senior Representative declined to make an exception. I then wrote to [XXX], CEO of Toyota Motor North America to ask for his help (see attached letter). I asked him to personally authorize the dashboard replacement and reply to me directly. Almost two months later, I have not received any communication from him. Moreover, on October 4th, I called Toyota customer service to follow-up on my letter. I was told that [XXX], Executive Office Administrator send me an email on September 1st asking for the best time to contact me. I never received this email, neither in my inbox or in my gmail spam folder. That same day, I called [XXX] and left a detai
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 43 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that excessive force was used to depress the brake pedal causing the vehicle to fishtail while coming to a stop. The brake system warning light and the ABS warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who retrieved a fault code for the ABS control module; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 124,236.
Excessive oil burn
Dashboard is melting and is available for inspection. glare from melting dashboard hinders vision while driving, hands can be affected when touching dashboard melting goo. yes, dealer confirmed 2007 models have defective dashboards, enhanced warranty expired. no inspection by dealer. no recalls or warranty extensions or notifications of defect received. defect first noticed summer 2022. car purchased 2007, garaged, and low mileage(55,000).
The transmission failed. It was slipping and then just shut down
The dashboard melts when parked outside causing objects to get stuck and reflect in the windshield.
Dash cluster showed brake light and BAS light on, tachometer and speedometer dropped to zero while going approx. 40 MPH.
The dashboard of my Camry gets a sticky gloss when the sun is shining. The reflection from the glossy dashboard is reflected onto my windshield making driving hazardous whenever the sun is shining or if the weather is hot. I have to cover the dashboard with a towel to keep myself and other drivers safe because it is very difficult to see through the glared windshield. Dealer was contacted and I was told a recall was sent (about six years ago) but it never arrived to my home. You report regarding recalls, which I accessed today, says there are no unrepaired recalls for my vehicle. I am at risk, my passengers are at risk and every other driver on the road are at risk due to this well known, documented flaw in the 2007 Toyota Camrys.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the oil pressure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the oil level was extremely low. The contact stated that 2 to 3 quarts of engine oil were added to the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that a voicemail was left for the manufacturer however, the contact had not yet received a callback. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.
I can not see well because the dash shinya, it is melting and sticky. oil consumption with my Camry 2007 I need always check the oil every single week
Transmission downshifts and accelerates without pressing the pedal. At times difficulty pressing pedals and then abruptly accelerates. Also, downshifts and slows down without breaking making it dangerous on the highway. Happens all the time. Everyday. Reading all the complaints about transmission. Criminal!!! it has not been recalled.
On the dashboard there is “check VSC system” and then the ABS and brake symbols. Took it at the Toyota dealer for a diagnostic and said brake actuator needed to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the plastic dashboard material melted and was shiny causing a glare from the sunlight. The contact indicated that while driving during daylight hours, the glare caused a visibility hazard to the driver. The cause of the failure was not determined. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was unknown.
Dash is sticky seems like it’s bleeding the glue is super shiny and is a road hazard Please help!
Dashboard is too reflective, has melted and is incredibly sticky. This has resulted in a glare off the windshield that shines back into the drivers eyes and compromises visibility.
When driving both of ABS & Break dashboard warning lights are on, RPM meter will go up & down, temperature gage is down. Unable to be certain the vehicle safe to be operation.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that she noticed that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact stated that oil needed to be added every 115 miles. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle had to be repaired out of pocket. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Interior structure problem re: dashboard. My 2007 Toyota Camry LE sedan has just over 40K. This is a one-owner 4 door sedan. I bought this as "new" at Venice Toyota in FL on 3/29/07. I moved back to RI in 8/2007. About 2018, while cleaning the inside, I noticed that the dashboard seemed sticky. I had a dog and couldn't get the dashboard clean. I've tried several times to clean it (including some gel that's supposed to work) but everything sticks to it. I just found out where I can report it or I would have done this sooner. I had looked up my auto when I was checking for any outstanding recalls. I've had 2 minor recalls fixed. Reading further, others had the same problem, had contacted dealers about a recall which supposedly had gone out but it didn't. Toyota won't acknowledge the problem nor will the dealers. I am faithful about maintenance but the dashboard is disgusting. I also noticed that others have the same complaint and some are from South Florida as mine is. When is Toyota going to address this problem? It's not just 2007 Camrys - it's many models and years. There must be something they can do - it's their problem and they need to address it. Thank you.
Vehicle was detailed at Toyota of San Diego. The dash board became very sticky/gummy when exposed to sun. This causes a problem when driving because the sticky imagine from the dash board shines on the window and distorts your view. Toyota of San Diego sold to Norm Reeves of San Diego. The service department mentioned Toyota knew about the problem but the time has expired to replace the dash. My mom did not receive any notification from Toyota. The car has 20,000 miles and is occasionally driven. My mom is 97 and I have just started to drive her car. Viewing out the front window is hazardous.
I sent a complaint about my dashboard melting, over two years ago and complained to the dealer ship with no help, they told me my warranty expired a week before the recall. They said it would cost me right at $ 1100.00 to repair, I told them that's not fair for me to pay for there mistake I can't afford that, the way the economy is going. I beg for help before and no one listen, so lam pleasing again. God I hope someone hear me this time.
I'm submitting this, as I've been dismissed by Toyota Corporation with my concerns. I purchased this car from an individual. I did not realize the magnitude of visibility issue with the glare from the dash. I asked at the time about the shiny and sticky dash, and the owner stated that year of Toyota Camry had defective dash that melted, therefor the issue. When I'm driving, the glare causes me not to be able to see clearly. I called Toyota Corporate office and was told it's not a safety issue although I explained in detail about the serious visual problem. Because the previous owner did not take care of the recall on this, I was told it's expired and nothing they will do. I told the man that it shouldn't have an expiration as it truly is a safety hazard! The glare was really bad one day that I couldn't see the traffic lights, etc. without leaning down and over to the middle. I realize I purchased this car used, however Toyota should honor the safety issue recall no matter when. The dash obviously was a major defect! I was told I could buy a carpet piece to go over it, which I do not want to do. I should not have to alter the interior look, plus I think it's totally tacky! Please let me know if there is anything you can do to help me get this dash replaced by Toyota. I couldn't upload video as the file is too large. The pictures give you somewhat of an idea of the safety issue. Thank you for your time!
The front dash assembly is melted over time and is so bad I cannot see out the front windshield. I told the dealership that I believe this was a recall and they said it was but that the specific job for that expired ? I didn’t know recalls expired. They are willing to fix the current situation with the current system failure of the over heating window switches but a major problem is the visibility up front. I have to wear sun glasses just to see through that horrible glare from the melted dashboard. Also not sure if their is any suspension issues with my 2007 Toyota Camry. The steering wheel shakes some and I’ve purchased new tires wheels and some rotation balance and alignment and no additional work or parts where needed to fix that problem. The alignment did reduce some steering wheel shaking but it’s getting worse again. Any help would be appreciated and if we could get the Dealership to fix the front dashboard that would be phenomenal. Thank you.
My abs pump failed causing my brakes to lock up and totaled my car
My brake pedal when depressed, when stopped, makes a loud noise. My car cycles a buzzing sound often, even when the brakes are not depressed. My warning lights : check VSC system, ABS , warning triangle, a circle with and exclamation point and brake, all are continuing to light up on my dash. I took it to the dealer. Code C1391 (ABS ACRTUATOR INTERNAL FAILURE). This is serious and can cause my brakes and steering control to fail. The manufacturer warranty has expired.
Was driving an it made a noise then the brake light abs light an vcs light came on at the same time an I see on here where some people have the same problem with the same car so what do I need to do about it
Abs module is making a lot of noise at all time while vehicle is on and now it’s harder to brake abs modules is failing.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the plastic dashboard material had become melted and shiny causing glare from the sunlight. The contact indicated that while driving during daylight hours the glare caused a visibility hazard to the driver. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 170,000.
Driving around a curve in the highway at about 50 MPH. Truck came into the lane. Driver panicked and pulled to the edge of the lane, lost control of the car. Car spun and both the front end and back end hit a concrete barrier. No airbags deployed. Impact hard enough to lose both fenders and unable to open two of the doors.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle independently lunged forward while his foot was on the brake pedal and shifting gears without warning. The contact also stated that the failure would occur upon attempting to park the vehicle also while his foot was on the brake pedal and shifting gears. The contact stated that the failure was random and that the RPM's would rev up during the failure. The contact stated that upon his own investigation and inspection of the vehicle, he linked the failure to a worn throttle position sensor. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Brake pedal is hard to press, speed odmeter does not work, safty belt warraning light does not work, ABS dash light stays on.
My car has a mileage of about 178K and just recently got a "Check VSC System" which apparently affects brakes and also manages stability in case of hazardous road conditions. Across the internet, people also have reported the same issue and in some cases, people have had brakes locking up once this warning came up. Per a recall from Toyota, this is being fixed by the manufacturer only within a certain date and mileage and I dont fall into either of these criteria. The part itself is very expensive to afford right now...would be appreciative if the manufacturer can provide a way to fix this for a nominal cost or for free. On July 11, 2021, my husband and I were driving to a location not far from our house, on a state road with a 45 mph speed limit, when "Check Hybrid System" and "Check VSC System" warnings began alternately appearing and I lost acceleration. I turned on my hazard lights and was eventually able to pull off on the side of the road. I turned off all power then restarted, at which point the engine resumed working and we were able to continue driving, but the "Check Hybrid System" and engine light warnings remained on. We were able to reset the computer system by disconnecting the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery (which had been replaced a few months ago) for ten minutes, but I travel over 700 miles at least monthly to take care of my elderly blind father, and I don't want this to happen while I'm driving on I-95, when it's much more likely to result in a serious accident or fatality.
Toyota Camry 2007 has a sticky or melting dashboard issue and is impacting visibility when driving in sun. The dashboard shines and reflects on the windshield and impairs visibility. Toyota says their extended warranty to fix this issue is over however the vehicle has been serviced at dealerships multiple times and never was the recall / safety issue was reported to me. I would appreciate if someone can contact Toyota and ask them to fix the issue for vehicles that are still on the roads especially in the south where is blazing hot.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard was extremely hot and had started melting. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and it was determined that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact also stated that a quart of engine oil needed to be added each time the vehicle was refueled. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing unknown engine repairs. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired however, the abnormal oil consumption persisted. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
I first noticed a year ago that the dashboard was not looking right, but this year, approximately Mid May, the dashboard has become sticky and when the sun shines there is now a glare in my windshield, making visibility near impossible. It is hard to tell if there is a pedestrian/biker on the sides of the road or another vehicle in front of me. I did not receive any notice of this problem from the manufacturer. A dealer in my area said there is nothing he can do for me; however, he did give me the phone number for the Texas headquarters. I spoke with a gentleman named Cue (sp) who then put a senior supervisor on the phone. They, too, will not do anything..."there was a warrantee extension notice sent out in 2015 which expired in 2017". I did not receive it. They will only refund up to $250 for a dash cover. This should have been a recall, as I am sure that I could not be the only one that was omitted from their mailings.
Drivers side sunvisor failed and broke off while driving. Visor fell thru drivers field of vision and distracted driver.
Excessive oil consumption
The dashboard melts. I went to toyota representatives many time and they didn’t help. It is really dangerous when the reflection of the melted dashboard blinds the driver.
Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
