2018 Tesla Model X complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2018 record →
The seats behind the driver are a 2:1 split design with each side being able to be adjusted backwards and forwards. The latching mechanism on the larger of the two pieces failed in a way that left the seat free to slide backwards and forwards. This is extremely dangerous as it could result in crush injuries to the occupant of the seat. If a child seat was installed, it could result in fatal whiplash. I have a video of the seat moving freely as pictures don't really help describe the problem.
Under normal acceration..the car shake and vibrate violently. This is a known Tesla design flaw on all MODEL X. Tesla even issue a Technical Service Bulletin to address the design flaw. This shudder...shake... and vibration is very dangerous and could cause the drive shaft to separate from the drive unit. This will cause an abruption separation and stall in a middle of an intersection
While driving on an interstate freeway on 8-14-2021, using the vehicle Autopilot driver assistance mode (which I had been using for the previous 18 months without incident), the vehicle failed to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. This collision resulted in no passenger injury, but resulted in both driver and passenger airbags to engage and resulted in total vehicle loss of the Tesla Model X. No other vehicles involved had airbag engagement. Tesla may have actual information on the functioning of the vehicle and the Autopilot software that may explain why the collision avoidance system failed, but refused to supply me with this information.
Under normal acceleration, car shake and vibrate violently. This is a known design flaw in all AWD model x and s. Tesla issue a TSB...but still refuse to fix design flaw for free
While on cruise control (autopilot) on the highway, the vehicle occasionally violently slows down. The majority of the time, this happens near or just before an exit/entrance ramp and if the car is in the rightmost lane. It happens regardless of traffic conditions and even if there are zero cars around, it will still "hiccup" and hit the brakes. I've noticed that the cruise control system sometimes automatically changes the maximum speed for the cruise control to 35-45 MPH which explains the sudden braking. It is semi-replicable by setting the cruise control to a comfortable highway speed (say 65 MPH) while the car is in the rightmost lane, then driving past a (normally) heavily trafficked entry/exit merging area. If requested, I can probably find a safe time and area to replicate this and send in my dashcam footage of the incident.
On May 15. 2022 at 4:25PM while traveling north on highway 395 about 14 miles south of Bishop Californa. While traveling with little to no traffic, using adaptive cruise control (NOT SELF DRIVING) the vehicle suddenly stopped for no apparent reason in the middle of the highway. Fortunately, there were no cars behind us otherwise I probably would not be writing this. I have registered a similar complaint back in March for the same issue. We have had a total of 4 “phantom braking” incidents since buying the car in October 2021
Tesla Model X has a camber issue that is a design flaw base on its weight and torque, The camber on Model X is fixed and non adjustable. Its setting cause most of the Model x to wear excessively on the inner wall of the tires. Consumer can not visually see the wear section unless the tires are dismounted. This hidden flaw may cause drive to have a blown tire if not check regularly, it also cause owner to get brand new tires when its 1/3 of tire warranty life. This can be easy fix by recall all Model x and switch out a camber that's adjusted to the right weight and Torque or switch it out with a adjustable camber for service center to be able to adjust the camber to make the tire wear out evenly
Our Tesla has had the “phantom braking” on 3 occasions. The first incident happened on southbound interstate 5 near firebaugh. right after we purchased the car. The car suddenly stopped from 70 MPH to about 25 MPH in the middle of the freeway. The second event on northbound 395 at 2:45pm 3/20/2022The car went from about 60 mph to about 25 with out warning. It happened once again at about 4:03PM the same day. All of these events occurred while the car was in adaptaive cruise control, it in self driving mode. I have one event on video, that showed skid marks ahead at the same time the braking occurred.
While driving at speed approximately 4:20PM EST April 9th, 2022 on I95 near the Georgia/South Carolina border the onboard computer froze and became unresponsive, including the speedometer, the radio, navigation system, etc.. I became aware of the issue because the car started to slowly slow down but the display continued to show 70 MPH. I forced the computer out of Autopilot but the car continued to show it was in autopilot. shortly after the display behind the steering wheel went blank then rebooted, followed by the center console. thankfully I was paying attention and did not panic, had I panicked I could very easily been in an accident as I did not know what was going on with the car. I reached out to tesla multiple times following the incident and the agents and agents were non-caring and treated it as no big deal, and acted as if I should not be concerned about it. I could not even get assistance from them on getting service for the car. they kept pointing me to the Mobile app on the phone which would not function properly and after typing the incident into as I wrote above 3 times I gave up.
The contact owns a 2018 Tesla Model X. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70-75 MPH with the cruise control activated, the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,200.
The contact owns a 2018 Tesla Model X. The contact stated that while driving downhill at approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The suspension warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local service center and diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 45,000.
I have a 2018 Tesla Model X - When I engage the self-driving mode the car will ghost brake for no apparent reason. There are no cars or pedestrians that I can see to make the car suddenly break hard This is not the 1st time this has happened - I see that you are investigating 2021 - 2022 Tesla model 3 and Y but I am getting the same issues on the 2018 Model X with an upgraded MCU2 computer I would like to bring this to your attention- On my safety score on my Tesla App the only issue i have is hard braking but the car is doing this not me for no apparent reason
The contact owns a 2018 Tesla Model X. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the media control unit (MCU) display screen and instrument cluster became inoperable. The contact restarted the vehicle and on the third attempt, the media control unit operated as designed. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that the MCU was operating as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,300.
I was driving down a ramp and the emergency brake engaged, causing All of my belongings in my passenger seat and rear seat to fly off the seat. It felt like whiplash and my daughter was in the backseat as well. The next day, I had severe neck and upper back pain to the point that I couldn’t move. I am seeking care with a chiropractor.
Constantly phantom breaks. 30+ times on cruise control (not autopilot) in a 6 mile stretch. Started October 2021, occurs daily on two lane roads
Since I’ve owned this car in Jan, 2018, the auto driving system seems to think there are obstacles and auto brakes abruptly for no reason. In addition, the car fails to break sometimes when there are cars directly in front of the car.
The contact owns a 2018 Tesla Model X. The contact stated while driving at various speeds in self driving mode, the vehicle would experience phantom braking during events when a vehicle was not in front of the contact’s vehicle. The contact spoke to a dealer and they informed the contact that they were unable to assist. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
May 21, 2021 air bag had to be replaced, horn did not function as well as other components of the unit on the steering wheel. I am now dealing with the same issue again and the air bag and horn again are not work less than a year later after replacement. I will be getting it serviced again.
Dealing with 2 major safety issues and innumerable minor issues with our Model X. The first major safety issue involves our right falcon wing door. It will not properly open because it is sensing an obstruction that’s not there. The mobile tech told us that something inside the door has become disconnected causing the issue - clearly something that is occurring frequently. I’m struggling to get the vehicle repaired with Tesla and very worried that my kids will become trapped in an emergency. The second major issue is the front axles grinding down over time. My car is only 3.5 years old. My front axles have already been replaced once. They are beginning to make the “clunking” sound loudly enough that it is clear they need to be replaced again. Again, Tesla will make it incredibly difficult to get in and get the needed repairs on my vehicle.
Tesla wiper stopped working during drive, rendering it impossible to view the outside. I had to pull over on the side of the road and shut the car down. After rebooting the car, the driver side wipers came back functional, the passenger side is non operable. This happened while driving, while there was moderate amount of rainfall - thereby creating a totally unsafe condition for myself and other people on the freeway. When I contacted Tesla for service, they have given me an appointment 1 month from today to rectify the problem - this is needless to say unacceptable and the expectation that I continue to drive a vehicle without functional wipers goes against current FMVSS regulations that I am aware of.
The suspension is very loud, and sounds like it is going to break. A Tesla technician who was fixing another issue indicated that it is the Upper Control Arm, which seems to be a constant issue with this car. While we did schedule this to be fixed (for next week - they have estimated the cost of repair is over $1000), I fear that it could be a significant safety issue if there were a failure of the upper control arms. No warning light or any other type of warning occurred, which could lead others to not know they need to get this fixed. Tesla has issued a recall in China for this issue.
The fender garnish on both the driver and passenger side of the car is falling apart. The adhesive on the fender garnish fell apart and was hanging off the side near the wheels. It was replaced by Tesla on 8/2/21(driver side) and 9/11/21(passenger side), and now on 10/4/21 both fender garnishes are falling apart yet again! On 10/5/21, The Tesla technician looked at the replaced fender garnishes and is ordering another set. This continues to be a safety risk because the fender garnishes are detaching near the wheels and can cause an accident. No messages or warning lamps were given to the driver prior to the fender garnishes detaching, other than the driver and nearby passengers noticing the detached fender garnishes.
Main touchscreen failed while reversing the car leading to loss of rear view camera. Car was being back out from a crowded parking area after an event risking the health and safety of pedestrians and other vehicles. Failure was sudden and complete without any warning signals. Failure has happened at least twice in the past 2 months, and 2-3 times before that since 2018. It seems to be getting more frequent. Dealer claims this a "software issue" that engineers are working on
While driving on interstate highway at 75 mph, the instrument display and MUC display both go blank. The cruise control did not disengage. No display of vehicle speed, rear camera or other parameters. The display did not return after approximately 2 minutes. The driver then instituted a reboot while still driving. After another 1 to 2 minutes, the instrument panel began to redisplay information. The MUC subsequently displayed information. This is a first time event for this vehicle.
Owner of a 2018 Tesla Model X 100D with 35,499 miles had an accident on June 3rd 2021 due to a full thread loss of the passenger front tire. She was driving to work at the speed limit, early in the morning. Without any alert of pressure loss, the thread separated from the tire, causing the whole belt to hit the interior part of the front fender, causing a loss of control of the vehicle until the complete stop. Luckly, no other cars were involved in the accident. Driver was unable to move the car. Later, the car was towed to the Tesla center in Fresno, CA. Four days later, the car was moved to a body shop. The accident caused substantial damage to the car, well above the cost of a new tire. We have contacted Continental customer service and Tesla. Apparently, the tire is being recalled, but neither Tesla or Continental alerted us.
On Saturday, May 21, 2021 I left home to go to the health club about a mile and a half from my house. I noticed the light was very bumpy. It just did not feel right. Came home And noticed did the car head problem with the suspension. Both front wheels seem to be Forli suspended. Please see the photographs of the front of the car and front passenger as well as front driver side wheels and suspension area.
Car warning alert code TAS_a217 while driving on highway. Light with caution triangle “air suspension compressor disabled”.
I purchased this vehicle from Tesla on March 31 2021. The vin sticker affixed to vehicle inside driver's door shows a manufacturer date of July 2018. After I got it home and dug deeper into the main control unit, I discovered that the main control unit was from a vehicle built prior to March of 2018. All Tesla vehicle built March of 2018 and on, have an updated main control unit. It has been confirmed by Tesla that the car was manufactured in February of 2018. Tesla refuses to tell me why I purchased a vehicle with a vin sticker that states a manufacture date of July 2018 and that the car has a true manufacture date of February 2018. This is a six month discrepancy in time. The vin sticker is there to protect the consumer. It is there to let the consumer know what they are buying. This vin sticker is false, therefore compromising my ability to make a fair purchase decision. Telsa refuses to put July 2018 equipment into my car, to match the vin sticker information. here is an email from me to Tesla Re: MCU 2 [XXX] From:[email protected] To:[XXX] CC: Sent:Tuesday, May 18th 2021, 9:35:33 PM Subject:MCU 2 Hello [XXX], Can you tell me what your local service center is? ON MARCH 18 HAD TO MAKE A PANIC EMERGENCY STOP TO AVOID A COLLISION. I HEARD A POPPING NOISE AND IMMEDIATELY HAD GRINDING AND SCRAPING FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. SOUND WORSE WITH RIGHT TURNS, LESS WITH LEFT TURNS. SCRAPING CONTINUED WITH DRIVING AND CAR WAS TAKEN TO TESLA SERVICE DUBLIN AS A SAFETY ISSUE, NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. TESLA CONFIRMED THAT TWO BOLTS HOLDING THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE CALIPER BROKEN AND HAD TO REPLACE THEM. TESLA TOOK PHOTOS, BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE THEM. WHEEL NOISE RESOLVED.
ON MARCH 1, 2021, WIFE AND I WAS DRIVING EAST BOUND ON ROUTE 80 HIGHWAY IN OHIO. TWICE THE VEHICLE BRAKED WHILE DRIVING IN CRUISE CONTROL. IT WAS A CLEAR DAY. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND. NO BRIDGES OR OBSTACLES. AND THE ROAD LINES WHERE CLEAR. THE FIRST BRAKING OCCURRED WHILE WE WERE ON RIGHT LANE ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY. THE SECOND BRAKING OCCURRED (AROUND 5:15PM) WHILE WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF 3-LANE HIGHWAY. WE WERE DRIVING APPROXIMATE 65MPH. AT BOTH BRAKING, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING. WHEN I HAPPEN, WE BOTH CONFIRMED THERE WAS NO CARS OR OBSTACLES AROUND US. WE CONTACTED TESLA, WHO AFTER REVIEWING THEIR LOGS SAYS IT WAS WORKING IN "NORMAL". THAT THE VEHICLE SAW SOMETHING AND BRAKED. EVEN THOUGH BOTH MYSELF AND WIFE CAN CONFIRM THERE WAS NOTHING AROUND US, PARTICULARLY SINCE COVID HAS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED ANY TRAFFIC. THERE HAS BEEN A HISTORY OF ISSUES. ON OTHER OCCASION, ONE OF MY SIDE DOORS INDICATED THERE WAS SOMETHING THERE, EVEN THOUGH I WAS THE ONLY VEHICLE IN COMPLETELY EMPTY PARKING LOT. ONLY AFTER MANY COMPLAINTS AN ATTEMPTS DID THEY FINALLY REPLACE THE SENSOR. IT SEEMS THAT THEY ARE REPEATING THEIR DENIAL OF CLAIMS BY TWO EYE-WITNESSES OF THE ISSUES.

ALL SCREENS IN THE CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND THERE IS NO ACCESS TO YOUR SPEED, BLINKERS, CONTROL OF LIGHTS, CONTROL OF CAR SAFETY FEATURES, WIPERS, ETC. TESLA WAS NOTIFIED MULTIPLE TIMES AND EACH TIME THEY TRIED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE, IT WAS NOT RESOLVED. IT HAS BEEN A YEAR SINCE THE ISSUE STARTED AND HAS HAPPENED OVER A DOZEN TIMES, RESULTING IN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. TESLA KEEPS STATING THEY "REMOTELY DIAGNOSE" THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT AND SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, ALTHOUGH THEY TOLD ME LESS THAN 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO CALL IMMEDIATELY IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE WITH DRIVING THE VEHICLE.
THE CENTRAL DISPLAY UNIT/MEDIA UNIT (MCU) HAD MORE AND MORE FREQUENT REBOOTS, FREEZES, BLANK SCREENS. WHEN IT OCCURS, MY AUTOPILOT WILL STOP FUNCTION, TRAFFIC INFORMATION WILL NOT WORK, RADIO/SPEAKER WILL BE SILENT, NO TURN LIGHT SIGNAL CLICKING IS AUDIBLE. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, GIVING ALL TYPES OF EXCUSES.
TOUCH SCREEN AND MAIN DISPLAY UNIT AND CONTROLLER PROBLEMS. IT GOES BLACK VERY OFTEN, IT BECOMES SLOW MANY TIMES, RESTART TAKES A LONG TIME, SOMETIMES BLUETOOTH STOP WORKING FOR ALL DEVICES, NO SOUNDS CHIMES, NO AUDIO SOMETIMES, THE BLANK SCREEN STAYS FOR LONG TIME SOMETIMES DURING THE DRIVE. THIS IS BIG SAFETY CONCERN. I WENT TO SERVICE FEW TIMES AND MOST RECENTLY TODAY AND TESLA SERVICE DENIED THE SERVICE OR FIX SITING EVERYTHING WORKS. THEY ASKED ME TO RESTART THE SCREEN. THEY TOLD IF SCREEN GOES BLANK WEEKLY IT'S ACCEPTABLE.
I'VE BEEN INFORMED BY THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER, THAT THE TESLA MODEL X 7 SEAT VEHICLE MUST MAKE A LOUD 15 SECOND LONG ALERT WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, WHEN IN THE EVENT THAT THE VEHICLES FOLD FLAT SEATS ARE FOLDED FLAT. THIS SAME ALERT IS NOT PRESENT ON TESLA MODEL X 5 SEAT VEHICLE MODELS, AND I WOULD LIKE TO INFORM NHTSA THAT TESLA MAYBE VIOLATING REGULATIONS IN THEIR PRODUCED 5 SEAT MODELS, OR MAKING UP REGULATIONS TO IGNORE SOFTWARE BUGS THAT HINDER THE OPERATION OF THEIR VEHICLES AND DISTRACTING THE DRIVER FOR 15 SECONDS WHEN USING THE VEHICLE DAILY.
HELLO, I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BEST TO SEND MY LATEST SERVICE NOTE ABOUT MY CAR. TESLA CONTINUES TO AVOID FIXING OR ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM. WE ARE NOT SURE WHERE ELSE TO TURN AND SEE SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE. I FINALLY DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO REACH OUT TO YOU. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ASSISTANCE OR GUIDANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE. ' HI THERE ARE NO TIME STAMPS, AS IT HAS FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS, THE SCREEN IS PERPETUALLY SLOW. I ASSUME IT IS IN THE RECORDS, WE HAVE REACHED OUT TO SERVICE MANY TIMES. WE'VE HAD THE SCREEN REPLACED, WE'VE CLEARED OUT THE MEMORY, GONE THROUGH REBOOTS AND WE STILL HAVE ISSUES. WE CAN RARELY GET TO OUR REVERSE CAMERA IN A TIMELY MANNER, AND ALL FEATURES ACCESSIBLE VIA THE TOUCHSCREEN ARE UNUSABLE. OUR VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. WE'VE RECENTLY GONE ONLINE AND RECOGNIZE THAT WE ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS OTHER VEHICLES. WE'VE GONE FROM THE BIGGEST TESLA FAN AND TURNED OUT 50+ PEOPLE TO THE VEHICLE, TO HAVE LOST FAITH IN THE BRAND. ESPECIALLY WITH THE SAFETY ISSUES THIS IS CAUSING US. WE HAVE GONE THROUGH MONTHS OR TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIRS AND IT IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST FOR OUR PATH FORWARD? HOW DO WE GET THIS IN FRONT OF TESLA'S LEADERSHIP TEAM?' LEE SCHOR
TIRES ARE SEPARATING INTERNALLY AFTER 27K MILES. CONTINENTAL TIRES. THIS TIRE SHOULD BE GOOD FOR 45K MILES. IT HAS NO OTHER PROBLEMS. TESLA SAYS THEY HAVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THOSE TIRES. WHEN THE TIRE HAS PROBLEMS IT FAULTS ALL THE SAFETY ISSUES OF CAR AND COMPUTER. BIG PROBLEM. ONLY ANSWER IS TO REPLACE ALL OF TIRES AND SEE WHAT WORKS.
DRIVER DISTRACTION ISSUE WHEN I BOUGHT THE TESLA MODEL X, BASIC VOICE COMMANDS WERE AVAILABLE -- E.G., TO CALL USING A SMARTPHONE, LINKED TO THE CAR VIA BLUETOOTH. THE OPERATION, AS NEW, WAS STRAIGHTFORWARD, AND MATCHED THE THEN-CURRENT MANUAL, AVAILABLE IN 2018. AS IS KNOWN, TESLA UPDATES ITS CAR SOFTWARE, &, IN FACT, MAKES IT MANDATORY THAT THE CAR'S SW BE UPDATED, OR RISK VOIDING THE WARRANTY. NORMALLY, THE NEW SW UPDATES IMPROVE THE OPERATION OF THE CAR. HOWEVER, STARTING IN DECEMBER 2019, THE SW UPDATES, & EACH TESLA 'OWNERS MANUAL' THAT CORRESPONDS, FELL OUT OF SYNC. THE MANUAL WOULD DESCRIBE FUNCTIONALITY, AND THE ACTUAL SOFTWARE, SIMPLY DID NOT HAVE THE FUNCTIONALITY. I'VE READ EACH OF THE UPDATED "MODEL X OWNERS MANUAL NORTH AMERICA", (JANUARY 2020 & OCTOBER 2020), DOWNLOADED FROM THE TESLA WEBSITE. IN EACH CASE, THE CAR FAILS TO CONFORM TO THE OPERATIONAL DETAILS EXPLAINED AT, E.G., THE OCTOBER 2020 (2020.44) MANUAL, PAGE 53. ON THAT PAGE, TESLA EXPLAINS, TWICE, THAT A WAY TO ACTIVATE A VOICE COMMAND, IS TO 1. PRESS THE VOICE BUTTON; 2. STATE THE VOICE COMMAND, E.G., "CALL JOHN DOE" 3. PRESS THE VOICE COMMAND. TWICE, ON THE SAME PAGE 53, TESLA WRONGLY INSTRUCTS THE DRIVER TO 'TAP THE VOICE BUTTON AGAIN' OR 'PRESS AGAIN'. IN HUNDREDS ATTEMPTS TO MAKE THE MODEL X TO RESPOND TO 'BOOKEND' PRESSES OF THE VOICE BUTTON, IT HAS FAILED TO OPERATE IN THE MANNER DESCRIBED IN THE MANUAL, SINCE DECEMBER 2019. HOWEVER, THE CAR DOES RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE OF INPUTS, WHI
TESLA MODEL X DIES TWO TIMES. 1) AT APX 1K MILES (WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF NEW PURCHASE OF NEW VEHICLE, 1ST OWNER), IT DIED ON FREEWAY WITH NO POWER AND STOPPED. DUE TO SPACING FROM THE REAR CARD, NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED AND HENCE NO FATALITY. TESLA SERVICE CENTER FOUND NOTHING WITH THIS ISSUE. NO RESOLUTION ON DIAGNOSIS AND OR DID NOT CARE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. 2) AT 9K MILES IDENTICAL ISSUE BUT WITH AN ADDITIONAL ISSUE OF MODEL X GOING IN FORWARD DIRECTIONS WHEN IT SHOWED REVERS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. EVERYTHING IN CAR WAS FROZEN ONLY OPTION WAS FORWARD DIRECTION AT LOW SPEED BUT WITH REVERSE MODE SIGN!! I HAD NOT OTHER CONTROL OVER THE TESLA MODEL X. I HAVE TAKEN VIDEO AT THIS TIME FOR AN EVIDENCE. TESLA STATES THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUE AND DOWN LOADED DISPLAY DRIVER AGAIN!! I FIND IT AN EXCUSE AND TESLA DOES NOT UNDERSTAND SERIOUSNESS IN SAFETY ISSUE. ME AND FAMILY IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AFTER TWO INCIDENTS.
FOR 2-3 WEEKS, THE VEHICLE'S RIDE HAS SHUDDERED AND WOBBLED, FROM 1-70 MPH. THE WOBBLE AFFECT IS PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE WHEN MAKING TURNS, FROM 5+ DEGREES. THE VEHICLE FEELS AS THOUGH A TIRE HAS BEEN BLOWN, BUT THE TIRE SENSORS DO NOT INDICATE ANY TIRE PRESSURE ISSUES. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE MANUFACTURER'S SERVICE CENTER, THINKING INITIALLY THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DRIVETRAIN RELATED. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE CENTER HAS NOTIFIED US THAT THE PROBLEM LIES WITH BOTH REAR TIRES HAVING ISSUES, BOTH INTERNAL SEPARATION AND INTERNAL BUBBLES. THE SERVICE CENTER HAS NOTIFIED US THAT WE MUST PAY FOR REPLACEMENT OF THESE TIRES, WHICH ARE THE VEHICLE'S ORIGINAL TIRES WITH APROX. 25,000 MILES. ALL RESEARCH WE CAN FIND ON INTERNAL SEPARATION AND INTERNAL BUBBLES INDICATES A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WE ARE GRATEFUL THE ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURED, BUT WONDER WHY THE CONSUMER IS ASKED TO PAY FOR WHAT APPEARS BY ALL OF OUR RESEARCH TO BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. SHOULDN'T THE VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURER ALSO BE AWARE OF THIS? AND IF SO, WHY WOULD THEY ASK THE PURCHASER OF THE VEHICLE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A DEFECTIVE PART, WHETHER IT BE THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S OR ORIGINAL COMPONENTS PROVIDED BY A 3RD PARTY, SUCH AS THE TIRES? WE HAVE NOT YET FINALIZED A RESOLUTION, BUT WANTED TO FILE THIS IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THERE IS A RECORD OF SUCH TIRE DEFECTS IN CASE IT IS A COMMON DEFECT FOR SAID TIRE.

AUTOPILOT SYSTEM WOULD NOT WORK FROM THE MOMENT IT LEFT THE LOT BRAND NEW. THE WARNINGS ON THE FORWARD CLUSTER DISPLAY LOWER CENTER STARTED OUT DISPLAYING "SURROUND VEHICLE DISPLAY LIMITED" THEN CHANGED TO DISPLAYING "AUTOPILOT FEATURES LIMITED". NEVER HAD THE CALIBRATION IN PROGRESS DISPLAYED WHILE DRIVING OFF THE LOT. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE TESLA SERVICE CENTER IN VIENNA, VA TO ADDRESS DUE BILL ITEMS. AFTER 2 WEEKS AT THE TESLA SERVICE CENTER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A WIRE IN THE HARNESS LEADING TO THE RIGHT B PILLAR WAS DAMAGED. A WIRE WAS ADDED OUTSIDE OF THE HARNESS TO REPAIR IT. REQUEST TO HAVE THE HARNESS REPLACED WERE DENIED AND NO ASSURANCES IN WRITING FROM TESLA THAT THE REST OF THE HARNESS WAS FREE OF ANY DAMAGE. I NEVER HAD A "CALIBRATION IN PROGRESS" RETURNING THE VEHICLE HOME. IS THE AUTOPILOT FUNCTION CALIBRATED? WE HAVE THE FULL SELF DRIVING PACKAGE. INSPECTION OF THE WORK ACCOMPLISHED BY TESLA I DISCOVERED THE ANCHOR BOLT, ANCHOR BOLT CAP MISSING AND A COUPLE OF CLIPS BROKEN ON THE TRIM PANELS.
