THE SEATBELT LATCHPLATE (TONGUE) AND SOME SEATBELT WEBBING ON ALL 6 SEATS RIDES IN THE ABDOMEN OF MANY ADULT OCCUPANTS. THIS MAY BE BECAUSE THE OVERALL LENGTH OF THE (FEMALE) BUCKLE STALK IS 15.5 INCHES. IN THE CASE OF A 5'11" TALL MALE WEIGHING 174 POUNDS, THE SEATBELT LATCHPLATE RIDES 3 INCHES FROM THE FRONT VERTICAL CENTERLINE, WITH THE TOP OF THE LATCHPLATE 4 INCHES ABOVE THE THIGH, ALMOST AT THE LOWER RIB MARGIN. BESIDES BEING UNCOMFORTABLE, IMPROPER POSITIONING OF SEATBELT COMPONENT ON THE ABDOMEN IS WELL ESTABLISHED CAUSE OF PREVENTABLE INJURY IN CRASHES HTTP://WWW.NCBI.NLM.NIH.GOV/PMC/ARTICLES/PMC1267426/. PHOTOS AND DOCUMENTATION OF CORRESPONDENCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER IS AVAILABLE FROM OCTOBER 18, 2012. *TR

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Most recent recall on file: none. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
