Altec Industries, Inc.: Equipment › Mechanical › Boom/Crane/Ladder › Critical Fasteners

Altec Industries, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 11, 2026 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 14. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Altec Industries (Altec) is recalling certain 2024-2026 AC Series Crane vehicles. The inside joints between the side plates and the base plates of the 26-foot insulating personnel jib (IJ26) may be missing welds.

The risk

Missing welds can lead to platform joint failure due to fatigue or overload, resulting in the platform falling from the boom tip, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Altec will advise owners to inspect the IJ26 jib for missing welds. If the welds are missing, the jib should be taken out of service immediately. Altec will add the missing welds or provide a repair procedure and kit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 23, 2026. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is MAB-3330.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 26V384000.
