NHTSA campaign 26V269000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Lode-King Industries, Ltd.: Structure › Body

Lode-King Industries, Ltd. reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 28, 2026 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 114. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Lode-King Industries, Ltd (Lode-King) is recalling certain 2019-2026 SDG53-3, SDF53-3, and SDF50-3 trailers. The rear impact guard may be missing welds, reducing the guard's structural strength. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 223, "Rear Impact Guards."

The risk

A guard with inadequate strength may not sufficiently protect a following vehicle, increasing the risk of injury during a rear end crash.

The remedy

Lode-King will inspect and add welds as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. Owners may contact Lode-King's customer service at 1-204-325-4345 or 1-866-797-0669. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 22, 2026.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 26V269000.
