Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 18, 2025 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 474. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2025 CB1000SP motorcycles. The pistons and piston rings may have been improperly manufactured, which can lead to rod bearing failure, possibly resulting in rear wheel lock up or oil leaking onto the rear tire.
The risk
Rear wheel lockup increases the risk of a crash or injury. Engine oil that leaks onto hot exhaust components increases the risk of a fire.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect and repair the engine assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed February 9, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated December 30, 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KT6. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 7, 2026.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 25V892000.
