NHTSA campaign 25V714000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Forest River, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 21, 2025 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 100. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Alta travel trailers. The Federal Placard label may have the incorrect axle capacity listed, causing the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) to have been miscalculated. As such these vehicles fail to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

The risk

Referencing the incorrect GVWR and CCC may allow the vehicle to be overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will replace the label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 19, 2025. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-264-6664. Forest River's number for this recall is 501-1994.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 25V714000.
